My opinion after 3 days of use - Xiaomi Mi A3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi !
I am new owner of the Xiaomi Mi A3.
I am generally satisfied with the smartphone, it is a success in design, autonomy (3 days) and performance. Last security update for July 2019.
Regarding photos, I quickly installed Gcam, offering great shots, certainly below the level of a pixel 3a but more than enough to indulge and try the photography "Artistic".
The only defect for me is the colorimetry of the screen Oled, concerning the resolution HD + it does not bother me because I gain in performance and battery life.
At the brightness of the screen, it is not as catastrophic as what the test articles say. It stays 80% of usable time (unless you live in a desert with the sun beating on it or in Norway during the midnight sun ^^)
My expectations : - Access to Android Beta 10 - Update to correct the colorimetry (my expectation will be important) -
Thanks

Can you please post some gcam shots?

Concerning Bluetooth I have no particular problem but I happened to have difficulties when I connected the phone to my hands-free kit for my car sometimes when I call the bluetooth remained blocked on the phone call and not not sent back to the hands-free kit.
about gcam it optimizes and improves enormously the quality of photos

I attached 3 photos of the same (very) low light picture, one Stock Cam, one Stock with nightmode and one GCAM (for RMN7) with nightmode.
I think the GCAM one is the best, but in GCAM I can set resolution only the 12MP... So, I think, the quality will improve with a version made for MI A3....

The problem with Bluetooth is smart Lock....paired the phone with car again and not activate smart Lock works fine now but not smart unlock... I can live with that

The screen is fine, I like it.
In terms of Bluetooth, there's definitely something wrong with it:
-Random disconnects
-Loss of quality
-unable to pair until reboot
-mi band gets double notifications
- can't pass audio from calls or YouTube to Bluetooth even tough the headset button appears
The quick solution has been to enable airplane mode for a few seconds and usually works again.
These problems only started after the July update

So you guys don't have an issue with the PenTile matrix on the screen at all?

Sincerely most of time not... But sometimes with some font types I can see pixels but I love the size of phone and Android one and cameras... If they put full HD panel this phone will sell as water in summer

Screen quality
I think that the problem of the screen is not really its resolution instead I chose this smartphone because it had a lower resolution and allow with the OLED to consume much less battery. In fact this smartphone and perfect except on one point, the colorimetry that is not adjustable and deserves to be adjusted, the brightness of the slab that in my opinion is much too low for a product of 2019. Even the Galaxy J with their low resolutions have much brighter and flashy screens. I ask myself if the screen has not been restrained in terms of brightness to optimize performance and autonomy. It would be a dream to learn that by updating it would be possible to increase brightness by 20%. Xiaomi if you hear me and if it's possible technically thank you to offer us a more accurate colorimetry in the next updates and if possible try to boost a little more the brightness of the screen even if it is only 10 %.

You can calibrate screen colors activating the option in developer mode.

Where? Which option is that - sRGB? I dont have any calibration available

There no option to calibrate the color yet for this phone. What you have in the developer option is just to simulate color space. Ohhh that sRGB option, it is useless cause it will turn off after you have exit the developer option...

Completely agree.
People complaining about Mi A3 while using phones with batteries that don't last not even a full day...
Low resolution + AMOLED + 4030mAh = 3 day battery, and people just don't get that...
I also tried the camera's Night Mode, well it's not a miracle but it does its job, still better than regular mode.
People were also complaining about video stability and well, not sure if some update fixed it or anything but I can't complain at all, it's ok I guess.
I heard also a few complaints about the small brightness range, well coming from A2 Lite I can't say I noticed any difference...

Coming from a Moto G6 (which followed a Lenovo P2), I just can't complain! After a week of use, I'm really satisfied with it. The difference between the 1080x2160p Moto G6 Screen and the 720x1560p is sometimes perceptible but I can easily live with it.

How about the speed of the fingerprint scanner? In the video's I see it unlocking within a second, but still they say it is slow.
Is this also underrated?

I have one question, how is the screen brightness in low light? I read it goes lowest on 15 nits, which sounds too much.

It's decent, unlocking takes no more no less than one second for me. I've compared the speed with the galaxy A50 and A3 finger print scanner is definitely faster

Yes in low lights I have to admit that the brightness is too high ! At the moment we can't go lower than 14 nits. The max luminosity is under the average in this range but enough for me

I've has for a period HTC u11 which went lowest ar 7 nits and often found it too high.
Was looking for a device to second my MI9, maybe I'll go for Redmi Note 7 instead, or maybe wait for a while until a solution for this is found.

I have the A3 now since a week, comming from a Pixel 2.
Fingerprintreader is horrible slow for me, compared to the pixel.
The camera is also slow, it takes ages to get it started, and two pictures in a row taking there is a 2 second (or more) wait time.
I am aware that the pixel 2 was a flagship phone, still two years later the pergormance should be more or less the same.
I love the battery life tho... I run out of power before the A3 does

Do you regret buying the S6 Edge+?

I bought this phone about a week ago coming from an iPhone 6 (I jump often between android/iOS) and I really regret it at the moment. First of all, battery life is HORRIBLE! I'm waking up with a full charge every morning, and after only waking the phone up a few times over 8 hours, I get back home with about 65% battery life when the phone hasn't even been stressed at all!
Touchscreen not functioning if you tap directly on one of the edges, so if you have a button or a link or something else to click on and this click-button is out on the edge it often wont register the tap, but if you however slide your finger out to the edge, the sensor will pick it up all the way.
I know this probably is so that you don't accidentally touch the screen while holding the phone, but I paid 8000 SEK (852 EUR) for this phone, I'm expecting things like this to not downgrade the touchscreen-functionality.
I've had random freezes after waking up the device to lock screen, making me wait about a minute before it "releases" or until i restart the phone.
I could go on with a few more things but I'm not here to bore you, and please don't get me wrong. It's a beast phone with a beautiful screen and design, which is why I bought it. It's just that the issues in this phone is to compare with android phones a few years ago.
Please tell me what you think if you read all this
Dont regret it in the slightest
100% agree with you mate. I have the same battery life issues and find the screen to be it responsive, especially when using Swiftkey or fleksy.
I am considering switching to the 6P or even just the 6.
I have to admit though that the camera is outstanding!
The sleeping freeze bug is known and seems to be resolved in the upcoming OTA update that is now making its way to the various countries.. For the rest I can only say that you either have a defective device (swap it for a new one) or a rogue app (do a hard reset en reinstall until you find the culprit app). Oh, and go through your settings and fine-tune battery usage by switching off functions that are not key to your way of using the phone...

I have no issues what so ever. I easily get 6-7h SoT regularly and I don't even do anything to save battery - I just disabled some apps using the stock app manager.
Idle drain could be a bit better, I lose about 5-7% over night (8-10 hours), but you can charge it back in like 10 mins, so I don't really mind.
While the Edge+ is the sexiest phone I have ever had, I do regret getting it.
--Battery life is below average
--Fingerprint scanner is hit or miss. TouchID is a billion times better
--Not much app/utilities to take advantage of the edges
--Not much ROM development
--Poor quality (my charging port died first month)
--The glare on the edges
--Super slippery without cases
--Not much available cases
--Not much available quality tempered glass screen protector
--No Samsung Pay if Knox is tripped/rooted
--Fast Charging/Quick Charger 2.0 sometimes work and don't
--Daily lags/stutters
--Speaker not very loud
--Proximity sensor hit or miss
--To use the edge cool notification, phone needs to be faced down. Who puts their phone face down? WTF Samsung
--Wireless charging is slow, and make the phone really hot.
--Camera: (1) in low light, it sucks (2) have hard time focus on moving objects
--Screen not as touch sensitive
--Screen not as bright out door
--Phone depreciates in value so fast.
I say it all the time it's not the phone it's the apps. The programmers are not optimizing the apps correctly. I also blame user error. Also the lack of knowledge about how to properly turn off unnecessary syncing. I have none of the problems said here except slow charge and that is due to the wireless charger not being the fast charge version.
I've had none of the bugs/problems some people describe I came from the iPhone 6 plus and I don't regret it at all! Only initial disappointment was the battery life. But a couple of weeks ago I remembered that I had got a 1 years McAffee subscription when I bought the phone so I though since its free I'll download and try it. Since I engaged the battery optimizer setting in the app I've been getting stellar battery life. On for 8 to 9 hours SOT some days. And that's with location, sync etc still on. As far as I can see its controlling of how often the sync can occur seems to be making the difference. So I would recommend this or a similar app. I don't know if using McAfee free app without the subscription will have battery optimizer available though.

I've had the phone a week. A few days into it, my feeling was the same - highly frustrated.
I had to re-initialise twice to get rid of the reboot issues.
The keyboard is affected by the curved screen.
I have the Note4 and the first few days I was constantly reaching for it.
It's changed completely. The phone has settled down. Using the keyboard is still hit or miss however;
The screen is beautiful
The phone is beautiful - after a while, every other phone feels cheap.
The battery life is actually - very good! I charge once a day, and then again if I'm up after 10pm.
It's fast, boy.
The phone is built for swiping - so swishy! Very fluid.
It charges quick.
I love the night clock!
The screen, the screen, the screen.
It's a beautiful, sexy phone. Very. It's how it makes me feel while I'm using it.
And the camera. Enough said.
Fingerprint works for me 99% without any problems really. Never have the hit or miss in that.
Battery lasts good after the new AOJ5 update.
Didn't have the freeze of lag other people had before the update and it became even better after it.
I use SwiftKey and don't have any problems with keys on the edge or swiping at the edge.
For being a phone the speaker is OK but you don't buy a phone for the speaker sound.
Camera is great and ok in low light.
Charges really fast with wireless. Just make sure it says fast charging in notifications.
One bad thing is that there isn't really any apps that support the edge feature.
Laying the phone with display down is outright stupid and notification should work with it turned up.
Sent from an secret device from my hideout.
I don't regret. it's the best phone I ever had.
Batterly life is correct (48h) and I've not done the AOJ5 update yet!
Pictures quality is amating.
Screen is really great, compared face to face with the Iphone 6+ of a friend, the S6 screen is better.
The only bug I have so far is the freeze, sometimes (once a week), when unlocking with finger prints.
Excellent phone With 6-7sot ..excellent caméra. ..fast. .my only regret is the infrared missing
Envoyé de mon SM-G928F
My only regret is the brightness bug... Everything else i love this phone
Excellent phone but with root access and knowledge about simple modding. So keep in mind I'm not taking about stock.
-Battery life is even better than Z3. On wifi i can easily go above 7h SOT (my record is 8h) even with gaming. Fast charging is great also (wireless too!)
-Screen is beautiful, infinite blacks super resolution and great visibility outdoors
-Speed and multitasking best I've ever seen
-excellent build quality and premium feel (and look)
-very responsive touchscreen, maybe too responsive as it can easily react even to metal objects
-very loud speaker (not stereo but at least i can hear it, on Sony stereo speakers were very quiet and sometimes harsh on max volume)
-one of the best cameras, the best auto mode, pro mode with lots of features
-signal on both wifi and gsm is strong and stable
-not getting warm when being used
-great development (not quantity but quality is the key!)
Cons:
-might be uncomfortable to hold and use, accidental touches might be registered when using one handed
-glass build so you should be careful
-heart rate monitor/led glass is prone to scratches (not gorilla glass for sure)
-don't really like the audio port placement

No reget, I love this phone so far
- Love the beautiful the design, unique, it amazing
- Good build quality
- Best camera, Pro mode is a plus
- Best screen, new experience on curved screen
- Battery was very extremely good, 1-2% overnight (if no LED notification, disabled apps, Lux, Greenify, Disabled services)
- Have no issues about heating, fast charging, wireless charging
(doing Fast charging when battery low it does warm up a little - 40C, when it reach about 60% it become more and more cooler)

As mentioned before, for most of us, 852 EUR for a phone is pretty expensive, and this is only for the 32GB model. I'm not accepting the fact that I paid that much for a phone that wasn't going to be at least 95% perfect out of the box. We're living in 2015, we SHOULD'NT HAVE THE NEED to turn off sync, turn off gps, etc. in order to get our phones last a day, and we definitely shouldn't have the need to remove things or to root the phone and install customizations in order to make it work properly.
It should JUST WORK as Apple-fans say, and I really can't blame them as the iPhone 6 I had "just worked" with it's teeny-weeny 1800mAh battery lasting me until afternoon the next day with standard usage of the phone.
This is purely a Samsung/S6 Edge+ fault and not android itself as my work-phone which is a Z3 can last a full workday of GPS:ing and spotifying and I'll still come home with about 60-70% battery. And if I leave it turned on on a Friday with 50-60% battery, I will have about 30-35% battery on the Monday (of course in stand-by the whole weekend but still).
Now I know I talk much about the battery life in this post. But it's just one of the many issues that I can compare with other phones and with the Z3 I also have.

Battery life seems to be so different from a person to another.
I have wifi always on, sync always on, screen brightness on automatic, ... well all is on except:
Bluetooth is off, NFC is off, I use the "Manage app" under the RAM tool to close most of the app automatically and I turn-off the smart network option under Wifi.
I have WIfi at home and at work, it probably helps too.
See screenshot attached, ok it's a scenario where I have not played game a lot during these days.

Experience with phone. / What do you HATE?

so i am curious ... share your expeience thus far with the zenfone2 as well as tell us what do you guys hate most about it?
i just picked up a new shiny zenfone 2, the 4G/32G model, Z00A/ZE551ML model for $270.
of course right off the bat i unlocked the bootloader, rooted it, and installed TWRP. after which i put on a custom ROM ... i am still messing between BlissPop and Resurrection-Remix. Both are based on Cyanogenmod and are great with customization options. especially the fact that i can change my DPI to 400 and everything looks so beautiful. if you change to one of them make sure you pick a DARK theme. Darker themes charge the battery less.
So now what do i hate about my phone?
Well, this is a tough one. Its nice that we have top of the line hardware and such however the CPU being an Atom/x86 maybe our loved/hated part. ya its quick but the device gets hot quite often.
Then we have a minor issue that i am hating. I wish the capacitive buttons were on-screen instead of being static as they are now. The line separator between the screen and the buttons also tends to pickup dirt quite frequently and you have dirt stuck there.
I also dislike the curvy back although it makes it easy to hold it is not flat when put on a table ...
please share....
I hate camera battery and the design
My hates for this phone (ZE551ML Z00A 4GB/64GB Z3580)
On stock software:
SMS issues, workarounds are unacceptable to me
Still Android 5.0.0
On CM based ROMS:
Bluetooth audio lag and random failures until restart
Hardware:
Camera is useless in anything but bright sunlight.
Power save controls could be more fine-grained.

You can enable on screen buttons. Check in the themes and apps section.
Some cases make the back of the phone flat, check on eBay for those.

No, its a 5.5" screen the same size as my Note Edge... If it had on screen buttons then they would take up the same real estate that they would on my edge if I wanted them...
Don't know how you can whinge about not having them then saying it would take up prime real real estate on the screen when every other 5.5" screen phone that has these onscreen keys is the same size screen...

Tips for Taking a Fashion Shot - ZenFone | ASUS
To be honest for the most part I've enjoyed using this phone. I have the 4GB RAM/32GB internal storage North American model and it's been decent so far. I came from a Nexus 4 that I had for about 2.5 years and switched to this phone when it came out in North America in late May. I don't mod a lot, I've only rooted (so I can run stuff like Adaway, Cerberus Anti-Theft, and Xposed Framework) and that's it. I've considered unlocking my bootloader to get a permanent custom recovery (which I did with the Nexus 4) but I can live with a tethered recovery (just so I can flash a zip when needed) if I wanna be able to have an OTA update without issue. Yes, I know you can just flash new firmware updates without just waiting for an OTA update but I'd rather just let the OTA hit.
As others have said, the camera is kinda crappy but I don't really take a lot of photos in general so it's not a big deal breaker for me. Yes there's a lot of bloatware but I've just disabled stuff I don't use either via settings or a 3rd party app. The phone is a tad bit on the heavy side but that's just minor griping. The regular firmware updates have been nice though I'm still waiting for them to push Android version 5.1 even (though they have at least confirmed Marshmallow for the Zenfone2 so that's a good sign).

great phone
but bad battery life :crying:
horrible battery
I hate missing backlight back/menu/central buttons... And missing support of USB 3&HDMI&h265/HEVC hardware video codec acceleration for decoding/encoding.
If ASUS resolve it on Zenfone 3, he will be mine ! (Except if a equivalent smartphone upcoming with physical Keyboard)
Want this keyboard on Zenfone !!! :

Or better :
Well... Missing accessory, so native hardware... Dreaming.
you get what you pay for.
i paid $270 dollars for the 32G/3GigRam unit.
you can always use onscreen navigation bar ...
Battery life & screen not bright enough under sunlight (using lux light app helped cranking up the brightness a bit more). Oh, and I HATE where they placed the speaker!
I almost pulled the trigger on a galaxy note 5 dual sim this past weekend, but I've decided to wait a bit and see what's coming in the next few months, the note 5 is missing too many features.
Camera seems fine, I've taking some very nice pictures using manual settings, but I hated this phone when I was in Orlando while shooting video in the afternoon where it was hot outside (late October). The phone kept on recording at a very low framerate and it didn't even save the videos for some reason.
I'd say the things I hate about this device are the small details.
The fact that the led has only 3 colors and cannot be customized;
The horrible audio jack (even for a smartphone standard);
Battery life is an issue, but can be fixed (Project T kernel was a life saver in stock kernel, still looking what I can do in CM based ROMs);
The compatibility issues we have due to the x86 architecture.
I do love this phone, but sometimes these things really annoy me.
After coming from a Xiaomi mi3w I just have to say so far this phone is pretty amazing. I don't ever use the camera so the camera is better than I need it to be for the few times I use it a year. The battery problems I see everybody complaining about baffles me as I own 3 mid range priced phones and this 1 has close to the best battery life with similar usage.
Xiaomi mi3w: 4-5 hrs sot with 1 day uptime
2nd most expensive device
ASUS ZenFone 2: 5.5-6 hrs sot with 1 day uptime
cheapest device
oneplus two: 5.5-6.5 hrs sot with 1 day uptime
most expensive device
The things that annoy me are
1. Asus has poor rom development for keeping you updated.
2. Horrible place to put a speaker.
3. Hardware keys can not be swapped and I'm use to my back button on the right and my menu button I the left.
4. You can't reassign functions to the hardware keys. They should also be backlit.
5. They don't use any type of hotplug to unplug cores with 0 zero load to save to power.
6. Glitches in their keyboard while typing sometimes taking me back to previous paragraphs or the last typed words if I try and correct a mistake made earlier. Just a buggy keyboard in general.
7. Micro stutters in certain apps like browser and tapatalk due to an inefficient kernel or os.

I only hate the battery and the issue that you can´t change the sms ringhtone.

UMI Touch (Real Reviews/User Tests, Discussion) 5.5" FHD, Frontfingerprint Scanner
Hi guys, here's a thread for real user videos/tests/unboxings and discussion.
I suggest we keep alll kind of official UMI commerical, deals out of this thread. So no UMI created pictures or videos. Only real material from users!
Because there is a big difference from what is real and what is pure commercial. Not always these two things stick together....

Similar design?
Many say that the UMI Touch look like the Meizu M3 note or Meizu MX5. What do you think?
Other ROMS?
UMI have posted some pictures of the UMI Touch running Windows phone 10, but so far only pictures.
So until we see a real rom this is still unconfirmed.

I don't think there are other ROMs out yet for the phone.
Did someone manage to get GravityBox working?
UPDATED:
Hi everybody,
Well It's been already a week with this device, so I think I have already some experience with it, so I can give some feedback:
Despite that the HW in this phone seems to be quite acceptable, there are some problems with the SW, which makes the user experience not as good as it should be. But I have to say that the telephone is perfectly usable for everyday use (at least for my use), the most common problems, are the one which are written here after:
1- The battery is named as 4000mAh, but I have to say that the battery is bad managed and it's not showing the expected life for this capacity. Yesterday the issue a new FOTA update V3.03-20160423, in which they promise to fix this. At the moment it shows some improvement, but I cannot say since I did not have time to really test it.
UPDATED: Well after some testing, it seems that it behaves even worse than before, unfortunately, check post 14:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66721589&postcount=14
2- The screen; well this is one of the bigger problems, they are appearing (to majority of users) some white stains in the screen; in the official web page they mentioned that it was caused by some defects in the screen manufacturing process and UMI said that screens were glued incorrectly but they also stated that they corrected this problem in the following batches of the UMI Touch and offered to be helping in the process for getting a replacement. But in my opinion, there are not completely transparent here, in the official forum they were constantly deleting the posts where this problem was mentioned; and for me it is very interesting that everybody who has this problem, they have the white spots in exactly the same place on the screen (burnt screen because of bad IC dissipation ? )
Anyway here under you have an example of the white dots:
3- The touch sensitivity is not good, sometimes for writing texts and so can be a bit annoying, but definitely they have to tune this too.
4- Attention there is NO Notification LED anyway there is some discussion about using the soft buttons as notification leds, let's see if UMI hears the users....
5- The WIFI, at the moment for me the wifi is quite unstable, the signal strength is quite poor if we compare with other devices, as for example Redmi2; I guess this is something they should continue improving by software.
6- The accessories included (the adapter and cable) are the worst quality ever, the cable it broke after the second time I plugged (literally ) , and the adapter I was afraid to use since it was reported for many Forum users that it started to smoke and stink until they stop working. At least one person in the Forum complained that after the incident something happen with his/her mobile. So better don't use the included adapter & cable!, better safe than sorry.
7- The camera should be good quality, but it showed some lag when capturing pictures, for example if capturing with HDR and there is some subject which was moving there will be "ghosts" in the picture. It suppose to be fixed from the yesterday's FOTA, but I did not try it yet.
8- There were some people also mentioning that the GPS was not accurate and so, from my experience from the last weekend, I have to say that it wasn't that bad, actually Google Maps was the only one not so accurate, I was using HERE and WAZE and no problem.
Conclusion: It seems to be good hardware phone, but they are a few problemsuntil they polish a bit more the software I would not recommend it to buy, it seems that they are in a good way for fixing the problems (they release quite often the FOTAs) but still I would give more time to see how UMI behaves..
I hope it is useful at least for anybody

1- With the new OTA update. I get about 2days of battery lifetime on regular usage. 4000 mah seems realistic to me.
2- I don't have any clouding, at least until now.
3- Agree.
4- Would be really nice. On the Elephone P8000, the menu led is also used as notification led. UMI make it happen...
7- I did not test HDR yet but I think the camera is quite ok. Not as good as in the Letv X600, even if it's the same sensor but better than the Elephone P8000, which sometimes was horrible to make photos with.
I have also checked mine for clouding but have none. Even if I set lowest or highest brightness, there are no white spots like the one I have seen from other users. Seems to be a bad batch out. But mine is a pretty early version, or I'm just lucky.
If the test says 3600mAh it can't get to 4000mAh even with software updates.

Have you tested it yourself? 3600mah seems pretty low. Keep in mind that smartphone batteries always have a tolerance of about 300 mah.

S7yler tested it in his video and it gave him around 3600mAh, the 300mAh tolerance theory is BS imo.

Is this a serious question? Of course yes, or do you think batteries are made of pasta? The machine takes same components and puts them together.
Said that, different values are possible, but not as much as you say, 100mAh tolerance would be acceptable but not more than that.
300mAh tolerance would be fine in a 10000mAh battery or more, but we're talking about 4000mAh and 300mAh is almost the 10%.
Even agreeing with the 300mAh tolerance, this battery is 400mAh less than declared!

Man, what are you talking about? It's definitely an UMI Touch.
Anyone tried Xposed on this phone? The framework installs fine and even shows as active in the Installer but modules simply don't work, even when activated properly.
For example, GravityBox [MM] simply waits a few seconds for a response from the framework and then closes because no response was received. No other modules that I've tried work either.
Had read on the UMI forum that other people have had the same problem also.
Anyone manage to get it working? Even if we could just get GravityBox to work, I'd be over the moon with the phone.
White stains on the screen!!! And I read that there are a lot of customers complaining about this! Shameful, for a flagship phone!...

Yes, there are some problems need to be improved by software, UMi still spending much time developing the ROMs for its new devices. They have release four FOTA, since they released the UMI Touch.

Mi Max Back Button Dimmer Than The Others?

Has anyone else noticed the the back button on the Mi Max is slightly dimmer lit than the other two buttons? It's especially noticeable in darker daytime conditions.
From images I have seen on the net it appears that all Mi Max phones have a slightly dimmer back button. Like this picture below.

Yes mine is too. I don't care though as I always turn them lights off permanently.
Yep, all maxes are like that... bad design I guess.
Same here mate.. Mine too.. No problems for me..

Thank you for all the replies. Good to know it's not just mine! I think they use 2 LED's across 3 buttons. Just a shoddy design decision I guess.
I must be lucky but mine all seem the same!

No, i actually dont think it is a design or a hardware flaw. Actually it is a rom feature or to the likingness of the the MIUI rom designers. If you flash a CM rom, all buttons are lit properly again.

I wanna know wich one because I haven't seen any CM with all 3 buttons leds equal
If you flash Resurrection Remix 5.7.3 rom, all buttons are lit properly again.
All of mine are the same on RR 5.7.3.
If it's MIUI software related then it's very odd that Xiaomi would have done that on purpose because it looks like a flaw. It might be a bug that they haven't noticed or addressed as no other 3 button phones from them have had a dimmer back button.
It's miui SW. I have 2 ones same as yours other mi max has brighter back button then home or resent buttons. I know it's miui software issue because I have my phone encrypted and when I reboot all three buttons are as bright as the sun please fix

I didn't get that... What the encryption has to do with that?
Let's get more technical here... First all three buttons leds are controlled by the kernel which reads brightness value from /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/max_brightness file and can be anywhere from 0 to 40. Take a note it is only one file for all 3 buttons. So they should be all the same brightness. Except kernel does something and applies different value to some button, supplying different voltage. Which means all 3 buttons are in separate circuit complicating the design. And complicated design is more expensive so you need a really good reason to do it.
Now tell me what purpose will serve to have one or two buttons brighter? I can't think of any. And if that is the case why is only one file with brightness level for all 3 buttons!?
My point is it must be hardware design flow that drops the voltage to the 3td led or something, or bad leds batch...
And it makes sense with that low price for our phones to save money somewhere.
When/if we get kernel sources we will know the truth...
When the phone is encrypted and you're rebooting the 3 lites come on with maximum power Then on all three There and they are all very bright so there not broke. Also like I said on one of mine the the back button is far brighter then the other 2 buttons . I will just turn them off until there's a update
How can i add pics? Tha ks

I do know that LEDs have a specific forward voltage, e.g. 3.3V, however, if you try to run LEDs at lower voltages then it works to varying degrees based on the quality of the LED.
So if the LEDs were in a serial circuit and the 0-40 was equivalent to voltages of 3-4V, for instance, then the voltage would drop the further around the circuit it went.
So, for arguments sake, if the back button is last of the three LEDs in the circuit, then the brightness of it would be much more uncertain because you may be under-running the voltage on that final LED which means it is completely dependent on the quality of that LED chip.
With my device, I have had a good look at it and all the buttons seem equally well lit which may mean that I was lucky and the quality of the LED under the back button was a good one and so it doesnt suffer from dimness.
This may explain it better:

Interesting
But some mi max back button are brighter then home and resent buttons I'm sure there's a fix or it can be fixed one mi max is fine now after updating this one's still like it was tho and
My Mi Max doesn't have that problem. All buttons are equally lit to the same degree. It has been uniform when I bought it with the vendor ROM installed and has remained the same (uniformly lit) when I flashed the official global ROM. I suspect it's a hardware issue, one which is likely a fallout from Xiaomi's cutting corners to keep costs low. If you notice, the touchscreen also is not as accurate as say the one on Huawei Mate 7 or 8. Slightly diagonal swipes (intended to be vertical) are sometimes registered as horizontal instead of vertical. Also short, quick horizontal swipes sometimes do not register; you have sometimes to drag your finger over a longer horizontal distance to register the next page gesture. This is very noticeable when viewing for themes online or scrolling up or down the gmail sidebar.
Both came with vendor rooms on one had dim back button but once flashed 8 official global Rom the lights on my 1st mi max are perfect. The other one had brighter back button and flashing it didn't help or change it

So maybe it's a mixed software and hardware issue...
I like to know how things work so it's interesting the Samsung had a app to adjust the led power I can't find any apps that work on mi max yet

We can adjust brightness if that's what you mean, just not for individual buttons.
It is even possible that the glass transparency is not the same for the buttons. How about that...

Hows your Nubia Z11 experience so far?

hey guys,
i am planning to buy a new phone, i am confused between the Oneplus 3T and Nubia Z11
they are priced the same in India
i kinda like the design of the Nubia Z11 and the fact that it has bezel less display and IR sensor.
But i dont know if the phone has hardware/software issues.
Hows your experience so far with the phone?
Is it worth considering this phone?
thanks in advance!

Both of them are great phones but I would choose nubia because of IPS screen, i have bad experience with AMOLED.
The main issues are the NFC (completely not working) and quick charge (international ROM-only 2 Amps input).
I have Nubia Z11. Hardware difference is almost not important for these 2 models. At least for me. Because they are both powerful devices. I do not have any hardware issue. I don't know if Oneplus get andrid 7 update but as i know Nubia is not going to have soon. Both phone has nice UI with practical gestures. One plus has better fast charge performance, but fast charge shortens the life of the battery.
If i were you i would choose Z11 because of it's design, camere without a bump and bezelless screen.
I tested my nubia Z11 with quickcharge 2.0 charger. Phone has 1.54 latest Chinese rom. Unfortunately phone does not get quick charge. It takes only 5V 1.45 A. So Nubia Z11 doesn't support real quickcharge. I asked to Nubia about this. I'll post the answer here.

5V 1.45A is for basic, non quick charge charges.
I have replied to you post in root/xposed thread. Quick charge is supported, but it is very limited to only 9 W of charging power. Some values: 9V 1A (ZTE QC2.0 charger), 6.2V 1.49A (nubia original charger), 6V 1.6A (LeEco QC3.0. 24 W charger).
Tested on two International Z11's with v1. 15 rom.
Tested with keweisi charger doctor.
I had 9V 1.5A on my previous device ZTE AXON Elite on all chargers.
thanks for the suggestion guys @martas.vavra @TeslaTR
i bought the Nubia Z11 and it got delivered today by Amazon India
i had a query, how fast does your phone charge with the stock charger? mine is charging at a speed of 30% per hour with display off and utorrent active in the background. is it the same for you guys? does background downloading slow down the charging speed?
how fast does your phone charge to full?
thanks in advance!

Mine - 30 min charging 20 % - 52 %
Keep you phone cold while charging. Also download app 3c battery monitor to measure charging current.

Did nubia reply to your charging time query?
Yes, they replied. As the fact that my voltage test device doesn't support fast charge. I bought a new one. I'll test with it when it comes.
This is the reply of Nubia:
"Hi,
Christmas grettings!!
Please kindly know the following points.
1) The quick charge won't activate when the power is shotage or over 90%.
2) Please dial *#8604# command and enter Charger test, notice that USB_HVDCP_3(QC3.0), USB_HVDCP(QC2.0), USB_DCP(quick charge doesn't activate)
3) The way you are using to test quick charge figure is not accurate(a circuit is connected in series), moreover, what decide the speed of charging is the input power of battery rather than output power of charger.
In summary, please recognize if the quick charge of your phone is activate through point 2).
Best regards"
I charged my phone with quickcharge 2.0 device and saw the USB_HVDCP(QC2.0) in test mode.

I don't actually understand the 2nd point mate.
Do they mean to say USB_HVDCP_3(QC3.0) will show "acitve" when connected with QC 3.0 charger?

Yes. If you see USB_HVDCP_3 this means device is charging with QC3 that moment. You can easily try it.
Hey, I'm interested in getting a nubia z11, anybody know a good place to get one, preferably in EU?
which rom?
I just ordered my Nubia Z11 from aliexpress. I've always used android stock rom via cyanogenmod so using a skinned rom will be new for me.
How is the international Nubia Z11 stockrom? What features would I lose/gain by installing LineageOS or Resurrection remix instead of the Nubia rom?
Im trying to get used to not have xposed installed so a feature packed rom would be a benefit.
Thanks for your tips.

International Stock rom is very feature rich. You would lose the edge gestures i suppose in lineage or on other roms like RR.
This is one of the best looking phones (black - gold) in the world, but it`s more good looking than actually good. Especially the camera is an absolute mess: It sucks despite all the hype they made about it, and it sucks really bad. It needs PERFECT conditions to deliver a decent shot, otherwise you will almost always get an ugly mess. Either it won`t focus (forget point and shoot with this one), and even when it focuses, the edges up to almost half the picture will be blurry. Also, there`s tons of noise even in daylight and HDR shots are sometimes not properly denoised at all. Speaking about HDR: It will almost always give your pic a strong purple tint. If you think you can fix everything with the manual mode - not with this one: Shoot in manual and the photo will often lack almost all the colour. Even the Z9 which also had that blurred edge problem had a much better overall camera than this one.
Than we have: Weak mobile internet signal, no notifications at all in 1.56 (china) and 1.20 (international), lags in the 6gb version (strangely not in the 4gb) and many other annoying things. I`ve had the Z9 a year ago and it had exactly the same problems which are still not fixed, despite all the useless updates they throw out every 15 - 30 days. Than i had the 4gb Z11 in october and sold it mainly because of the camera. Now i found the 6gb very cheap (370€) and thought i`ll give it another try, but they didn`t fix anything and they probably won`t. I will not buy a Nubia device ever again. For that money, you can easily get a better phone than this.

Interesting, I don't really care that much about the camera, I just like the way it looks.
Mind telling me where you found the 6gb nubia for 370?

I was lucky to find one that is just 3 weeks old from a private seller.
Hey mate, I have a question but I cant find anywhere to post so I go here and ask. What is your experience Z11 when using this as your daily phone. Have you ever had any problems? And could you please give me some Pros and Cons about this phone? Thanks and have a nice day!
