It is supposed to be the same.

Heard that the update Samsung has already rolled out is supposed to improve the fingerprint sensor.

It's the same speed with S10's. Although needs some try and error at first because the sensor has moved up.

I've been listening to and watching tons of reviews... I'd say most of them have said the scanner is much faster than the S10+.

More accurate than the s10 plus I had at launch. One of the reasons I returned it the s10. Happy with the fingerprint scanner on the note 10 plus so far.

I have a s10 5g and it's the same sensor that note 10 and yes, it's more accurate and quickly.

From Gizmodo:
"And while Samsung’s in-screen fingerprint sensor doesn’t affect display quality, one of the most pleasant surprises with the Note 10+ is how much faster its fingerprint recognition is compared to the Galaxy S10. The S10's in-screen fingerprint reader was a good replacement for rear-mounted options, but whatever Samsung did to the Note 10's sensor had made it noticeably superior."
There are many other reviews like this. I'm thrilled to hear this!

From CNET:
"The Note 10 Plus also fixes my two major complaints about spring's S10+: the in-screen fingerprint reader is dramatically more accurate this time around, and the camera's dedicated night mode improves photo quality in low light.

Would you recommend buying Mi 5S?

I'm currently using Mi 5S Plus which I like a lot. However, it would be nice to have secondary phone with a smaller footprint and a better rear camera (for stills). Do you guys think it is worth spending $300 on Mi 5S? Is the camera a great improvement over 5S Plus? I find the camera on 5S Plus to be disappointing (other than that, I love this phone).

I guess if you already have a Mi 5s Plus, there's no point in getting this since it's very similar, despite one or 2 things

Why not try this Camera mod?

I'm not 100% satisfied with the camera quality, compared to my old Sony Xperia Z1c. I do hope that this will be a little improved with the next global image release. I tend to get not fully sharp images while making pictures of text, as if in the last moment the camera decides to make them a little soft.

Or you decide to not hold the camera still. It is called camera shake. Try it in full sunlight to force the camera to use a fast shutter speed and then check the sharpness. I bet it is sharp as hell.
My camera makes very good pictures. it is miles ahead of my old Nexus 6p camera.
Trust me, I hold it very still

if xiaomi share the kernel sources of this phone,i recomend you buy this! but no diffrent between mi5s plus and mi5s.both of them has the same hardware.
I was incredibly annoyed with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that had 20% hit rate and awkward body shape on mi5s which has buttons almost on the back of the phone, and the camera on mi5s plus. Also the lack of Nougat and Google assistant on both.
Now I have zte axon 7.

The fingerprint hit rate was bad on my Note 5 but not 20%. I just learned to place my finger on the same area/angle and my hit rate went up.
However, if it was raining and some moisture was on the sensor, it would not work well again.
I just think fingerprint technology is still ways away. You don't want to have any false positives so they lean on not able to unlock.
Actually there is a clear quality difference between the "traditional" scanner on my Redmi 4 Pro and the ultra sonic one on my Mi 5s. The hit rate on my Redmi 4 is nearly 100% (although I don't use the phone every day and can't exactly give numbers), but it is more reliable then on my 5s. I don't know though if it's easier to fake the finger on the Redmi than on the 5s.

I really like the mi5s, but take into account that mine is rooted, I disabled MIUI (memory) optimization, set most of my frequently used apps to be locked so they load near instantly when multitasking etc.
The camera by the way is absolutely excellent - I'm a hobbyist photographer for many years (using 'traditional' real cameras) and this is the first smartphone I've had that is good enough for me to not take my other 'real' camera with me as the photos from the mi5s are really that good. It has a very good optimization of focus accuracy and speed, a pretty good trade off between denoising and sharpening, the white balance is very accurate and the resulting images are sharp consistently across the image, from center to corners.
I'm currently using the EU ROM (7.3.30) and am very happy with the phone.
But, having flashed the lineageOS14.1 unofficial ROM (from April 2017, I d/l it yesterday), I can say that while the mi5s is very fast and all, it can certainly feel snappier in performance when using a more traditional ROM (I tried both lineageOS 14.1 and resurrection remix, both unofficial).
I am sticking with the MIUI rom because the stock camera app is much more reliable for consistently well balanced (white balance, sharpening, and denoising) images with fast focusing, much more than any 3rd party app I tried (manual camera, open camera, google camera (which is supposedly similar to the app used on the Google Pixel), a better camera...).
Hope this helps.
This is the best phone i have so far next to LG G3
Battery really good and much better compared to snapdragon 625 devices
And performances much better than snapdragon 820
Would recommended!

I've owned this phone for 2 weeks now. I purchased it for £211 so it is very cheap compared to most other flagships on the market. With the price in mind, it's definitely a great bang for your buck phone.
However, be mindful that the camera is bad (good hardware but terrible software) which result in out of focus photos and the fingerprint scanner is fairly slow. I'm sure a few people will chime in to say that the camera is the best they've ever used but you will ready of many, many more instances of people with a negative experience. The front facing camera is absolutely terrible and every single photo I've taken has been out of focus. Before people criticise my photography ability, I am a hobbyist photographer with a 50D and several L series lenses so I know how to take a decent photo.
So anyway, some sacrifices were made given the price tag so if you're ok with those shortcomings then you should definitely buy it.

fingerprint sensor

Anyone one else having trouble work the biometric
Fingerprint sensor? Mine is slow to recognize my fingers.
My hands are clean, no lotion
Or oils.
I also think it's a bit slow relative to my last phone, Huawei Honor 8. That phone's fingerprint sensor was instantaneous so far as I could tell. The Pixel 2's is certainly not as fast despite what a few reports have said.
Seems pretty instantaneous to me. My only other experience with fingerprint sensors is on my wife's Pixel, and the 2 XL seems about the same speed. I certainly have no complaints; it's a lot faster than entering a PIN, or pattern which is where I've been.
My Pixel 2 XL fingerprint sensor is noticeably faster than the Pixel 1 XL, which was noticeably faster than the Nexus 6P.

That's odd because my Nexus 6P started having problems reading my right index finger but my Pixel 2 XL reads it fine.
I've heard that if you register the same finger twice it may recognize it faster?? I'm coming from a Z Force, which was pretty quick. I really miss hitting the fingerprint sensor to turn the screen off.
Must be some kind of fingerprint sensor lottery lol. Mine is way slower than my old OnePlus 3T. Yet still quick enough

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Samsung Galaxy S10+, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Samsung Galaxy S10+ is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I'm going back to Samsung after a short stint with OnePlus and Xiaomi (OP5T, OP6, Mi8, OP6T) and after seeing the S10 launch event let's just say I'm seriously excited. Pre-ordered the pearl white with the free buds surrendering an LG V40 ending up paying around 595 for it. Build quality, One UI, new cameras, display, FP reader, all high on my list for this phone. Can't wait!
Coming from a Pixel 3xl nightmare to the new Galaxy is a night and day experience.
The cutout is pretty minimal. I don't mind it at all and prefer it to the notch. I also really love the screen. For my older eyes it is really clear and vibrant. Amoled just keeps getting better. The screen is pretty much the entire face of the phone. Pretty impressive and much better solution than a pop up camera.
Battery life seems good, speakers are loud but tinny. They are stereo but most of the sound comes from the bottom firing speaker.
Haven't tried cameras yet.
So far initial impressions are very good. Very fast and responsive except the boot up time. One UI slows things down.
Otherwise this phone is one of the best from Samsung in a while. Build quality is also very good.
The galaxy buds are not a gimmick. I have tried other airpod knock offs and they are okay or terrible. These have impressive dynamic range and decent bass. They fit really well in my ear. I don't like bluetooth or earbuds but I have to admit I like these a lot. Would I pay $129-probably not but I would pay closer to $100. They are really nice to have for free.
When you think about what you get and the trade in offers it makes it pretty hard to say no!
If you can still get the preorder and free Galaxy buds or gift card and do the trade in it is hard not to recommend. It is really feels and performs like a premium device and I don't mean that in a bragging way but to say when you hold it, you can see the attention to detail that went into it and it feels impressive.
I'm enjoying the state of the art 10th anniversary S10+! Cheers
Overall one of the best Samsung Galaxy phones to date. Still wish I could have stock android officially from Samsung.
This is over all, simply the best smartphone ever made. I got mine on the 6th, and have been infatuated with it ever since.
When I unboxed my Prism White S10+, I wasn't impressed. Coming from a ceramic Mi Mix 2S, the S10 didn't feel more premium than my Mi Mix. The camera also wasn't that great, and the phone was actually slightly slower than my Mi Mix 2S running on the very fast MIUI. However, after a full day of using the S10+, my mind changed. At first I was ready to return the phone and get a Mi 9 or P30 Pro instead, but now I'm definitely keeping it. The display, the battery, the headphone jack, the galaxy buds, the design..... absolutely love it, already.
I want to love my new s10+, but I'm not feeling it yet, the fingerprint sensor is not as reliable as my old s9 or my wifes s10e, and the battery is draining faster then my s9+, on the plus side it has double tap tap to wake, which was one if my favourite features on the LG g4 back in 2015
Hoping it grows on me
Anyone notice how much faster the wireless charging engages?
It's as fast as my XS Max (yes, iphone! LOL).
Not the speed of the charging, just the sensitivity to activate. Also does not seem to be nearly as sensitive to placement on the pad. Both my Note 9 and S9+ are picky and if I'm not careful to make sure they are centered on the charger they either won't engage or stop which is annoying.

Feeling the same way. I think it goes back next week! I've lost 15% battery in an hour and all I've done is read on these forums. Absolutely terrible!
Why did you do it Samsung?
Absolutely superb phone severely crippled by the worst implementation of an in screen fingerprint sensor yet. I got 100% success rate on my OnePlus 6T and about 95% on the Huawaei Mate 20 Pro. I was getting around 50% before the update on the S10+ which has now gone up to around 70%. There doesn't seem to be any consistency to it either. I can put the same finger in exactly the same place and get different results. Sometimes the lightest touch unlocks it, other times I have to carefully place my finger completely flat exactly covering the sensor and frequently it will just keep telling me to press harder. I love the rest of the phone but I'm not sure I can live with this sensor.

I first bought the normal S10, and then I switched to the S10 + but since the May update the fingerprint sensor was damaged. I wrote to Samsung Members they told me that with the new update the problem was solved but today I update it and it keeps the problem.

I love Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus works by Exynos 9825 (7 nm) - EMEA / LATAM and Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 Plus (7 nm) - Processor USA / China.
The size of Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus is 6.8 inches, 115.4 cm2 (about 92.2% screen to body ratio) and 1440 × 3040 pixels, 19: 9 (495 dpi).
The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla glass and HDR10 + and always feature display. The smartphone is equipped with a non-removable Li-Ion 4300 mAh battery.
Sensors include Iris scanner, fingerprint (under screen), accelerometer, rotation, proximity, compass, barometer, heart rate and SpO2.
The smartphone is 162.3 x 77.1 x 7.9 mm (6.39 x 3.04 x 0.31 inches) and weighs 198 grams (6.98 ounces) with the battery.
Anyone from US could please tell me where to find Best s10 plus deal? I will travel to Orlando this month with my family and I was looking at Best buy ...599 unlocked with activation ... now dunno why 969!!! why Galaxy phones are so expensive over there !
Amazing.
Such and Amazing phone
My Next Stint with Samsung: Going Great!
Around this time last month my Annual Upgrade was available on my old EE Max Plan with my P20 Pro, i was tempted to wait it out for the Note 10 but decided against it and went with the S10+ instead
In general, Amazing Phone, Exynos SoC's aren't as garbage as they used to be which is great, Camera System is awesome, though i do miss the P20 pro's dedicated monochrome sensor, not the end of the world, the Monochrome Filter is pretty good.
Honestly, OneUI is amazing, its such a change from the old Touchwiz Skins of old, yes it is still a bit bloated but Nowhere as bad as Touchwiz was and a lot of Sammy's Bloat apps are optional now like Samsung Internet and Samsung Pay (Which i cant use because they don't Support Metro Bank like Google Pay Does) and Samsung Good Lock allows you to further tweak OneUI to get it how you want it to look, which is really nice!
Obviously the "big" drawback of the Exynos9820 is the 4G idle battery drain, which i can't account for how bad it was when the phone launched, but from what i've read its not nearly as bad as it used to be.
but then again i can unlock the bootloader so i guess that's nice
overall a great phone so far, and looking forward to spending the next couple of years with it, and many years after that.
Everything about the phone is great, but the horrible fingerprint reader makes me hate the phone. Why isn't there a category for the fingerprint reader?

Has the fingerprint scanner been improved at all over the S10+ and Note 10+ ?

Just wondering if there has been any improvement to the fingerprint scanner at all?
From my understanding physically its using the same sensor/hardware. Whether software will enhance it, i think not. The TechChap did a video on his time with the S20 Ultra and it appears to be the same, slow and sluggish unlock. Which is a huge bummer. Does it have anything to do with what screen cover you are using?? I heard whitestone dome glass will help improve the finger print sensor but I could be wrong.
My S10 is lightning fast. In fact I have psoriasis and is the ONLY fingerprint reader that works reliably with my fingers.
Mine is brilliant as well by now. It took 3-6 months, yes, but after that it was perfect on mine.
After an early update about a month after the note 10+ came out I've had zero issues with the fingerprint sensor. Really fast and gets it on the first try 98% of the time even if i have something on my finger. I'm glad its coming back
Hopefully, it is a better than the s10+.
S10+ is perfect for me. Trick is to not leave finger on it until it unlocks. Just press and release and phone will unlock.

I use whitestone dome glass on my Note 10+ and it definitelly does NOT make the fingerprint reader better. In my experience it makes the response much slower although it's the best screen protector on the market in every other aspect..
I'm gonna stay with the OEM screen protector this time and keep my fingers crossed.
The fingerprint sensor performance is directly related to the moisture level of your fingertip. The dryer your fingertip the more likely you will have lag or issues of it not working at all.
TBH I don't care, use the face unlock feature and only need fingerprint in darkness where (face) doesn't work.
That's one thing I love about my iphone. Not having that huge notch is worth it.

Face unlock on the Samsung phones is very insecure and can't be used for higher level validation (banning apps and such). Just in case you didn't know.

Yes I'm aware and I don't use any such apps on my device so no worries.
If I want to lock down my device I remove ALL biometrics and use a complex password.
Anything else is always a compromise in security but more convenient.

Thanks for that tidbit of info. Just received my Ultra yesterday and when trying to use the fingerprint sensor (after a successful setup) , keep getting message to "push harder". Looking back though, my hands/thumbs are very dry. I will try to moisturize them somewhat and redo. Again, thanks for that tidbit of info.
Fingerprint is really fast .not as fast as a physical sensor but way faster than my a50 or s10 plus

Question Fingerprint scanner

Had my P6 pro for a few months now, whilst I do like the phone I do have issues with it, the gyroscope seems randomly stop start, and the biggest issue for me is the fingerprint scanner, wtf do I always have to lick my thumb just to get it to work, I'm not saying it never works, but what I am saying is it hardly works,..I have decided to add 3of the same thumb finger prints to see if that helps, anyone else got this issue? Is it a common fault?
Iv had the pixel since March iv not had any problems at all only fee days I did have to restart phone as finger print kept failing but after that it was fine
Mine has been fine since day one albeit very slow to start with. That said i have always added both thumbs twice (plus a finger) for front scanners and both forefingers twice for rear scanners.
Since I done that reboot it's been fine I think I have both thumbs and pointy fingers both hands it's fine was funny I switched briefly to another phone while pixel was on charge showed finger print scanner on screen I was touching it like why ain't it working then remembered it's on the side of the phone haha
I got mine at the beginning of April and my fps works as good as the one on my OnePlus 7 Pro. If I'm out in direct sunlight I have to shade the screen, but it works reliably even with the screen protector on my Supcase.
No issues with the FPS on mine, especially after RMA my device. I feel that this FPS issue is overblown.

Lol it's not overblown. This fingerprint scanner is slower than my old S10+ and my Oneplus 8 Pro, AND it's much more inaccurate.
A friend of mine even stopped using the scanner as he unlocks quicker with his pattern. It's just sad

Just for comparison, the two Samsung Galaxy Note 10+'s that my wife and I used for a year and a half - we both had more trouble with the in-screen fingerprint reader than on any other phone we've had, including our P6Ps that we got after.
There just must be so many variables of what can go wrong using fingerprint readers that there's rarely a solid consensus about any device.

You know what is hilarious to me? The people that complain about the fingerprint scanner do not wash their hands or clean their phones. Clean your phone, then your hands, and when theyre dry? Remove and replace your finger prints and wallah.

People hate the truth. People who complain about blurry images are the same ones with a smudge on the camera. I literally do not have a single problem with my fingerprint scanner. Very fast and very accurate. I maybe get one "missed read" a WEEK and that's when it's like sitting on a table and I try to unlock it that way. They don't like being unlocked if they're not held.
