Its very temperature dependent.
Put the phone in ice water or in the freezer. Then run the test. That really boosts the test scores.

Very much true... You're right it's definitely temperature dependent..
But I ran it in normal room temperature.. like I was just scrolling through some Instagram posts.. and I thought to test benchmark.. and this is what I got... Temperature would be probably 35 to 37°C
Why would I wanna get a bucket full of ice and then run the test to post it ?

He's suggesting that it's not an actual performance improvement due to changes in the new firmware update.
At this stage in the device life cycle, I doubt they're doing any more optimizations, or even fixing any bugs.
Most likely, just a guy merging the new security patch and running some automated test suite and maybe a basic checklist to see if there's any major issues. If at all.

4.2.2, low quadrant score!?

I installed the 4.2.2 update, I then ran Quadrant to see how things were. To my horror, the score has dropped massively. Prior to the update, I was getting close to 7000. I am now struggling to hit 5500?!
What is going on?

Nope, already checked that! Do you think it could be throttling it because of temp?
I'll tell you what though, I witnessed the FPS drop down into the 30s, during the GPU tests; very wierd...

Benchmarks?
Why do you guys keep asking for benchmarks ? they have nothing to do with how good your device is , even if they are real ,
as long as your device is smooth , stable and can run every program there at the google play store then your device is doing as good as all other good devices out there
Well I got 6800 in Quadrant after the update. Similar to before.
Benchmarks are sh**! They tell nothing. We would all agree on the fact that the phone has become faster and smoother with 4.2.2 update and gaming performance has improved

Has anyone tried intersectRaven's latest kernel?

I just installed this http://www.intersectraven.net/huawei-watch/ kernel so i have no stats to share. I was hoping someone else had some statistics on its performance and battery life. If not I will report back my experience.
Edit 1 - after 1 day no crashes and performance seems smooth. I didnt notice any better or worse battery but there seems to be less options for the CPU governor. When using powersave governor the battery life is pretty great but of course the UI struggles. The only governors available are userspace, performance, ondemand and powersave

Did you have any random reboots with skin's kernel?
Also - is there init.d support?
Thanks!

i got reboots from Skin's even after setting things as suggested throughout the thread. I do not see init'd mentioned in the change log for Intersect's but i'm not technical enough to say that it isn't there simply because of the change log. I'm also using his February 2nd version which isn't even listed on the link i placed above (you can find many versions by clicking the parent directory link).
not really a point in installing any custom kernel now since 6.0 is about to drop any day now.

all about one's perspective. I can repsect that but i want better batter and performance every scond i have my watch and it literally take me less than minute to intall it so ill keep tinkering until it drops (could be weeks). Either way, id also like to know which dev to focus on when it does drop and this one seems to update pretty frequently so it may be likely that this one's is ready before Skin's. Ill try both though, you can count on that!!

No. My point was that the custom kernel won't work after the update. I used invisible kernel the whole time but now I hate wait for 6.0 and hopefully the kernel will be updated.

No Pie update yet in Sweden for honor 8 pro

has anyone got it ?
The pie update was recalled because of various bugs and a stable update is scheduled to release mid June according to honor forum mods
Maybe we in Europe will get it little bit sooner.I got first update like 2 weeks earlier than India and other regions. At first it was looking all good but i had bugs with touchscreen etc. When i did rolback at 8 then i saw how battery was bad on 9.Hope they will fix all that bugs before they push update again.
Guess rollout started again.I hope they fixed bugs from last one.

Gaming is definitely smoother,Camera is ok.
As i can see device doesnt overheat anymore.
For battery is little bit early to comment as it is still on first charge.I dont see anything new so i guess its only bugfixes from first version.

Test kernel for fix cpu frequency limitation.

Test kernel for fix cpu frequency limitation.
Compiled for android 10.
https://github.com/followmsi/androi...ers/soc/tegra/sysedp/sysedp_batmon_calc.c#L84
I compiled the kernel with the above changes (psy_imax = 8500000).
Not sure if other firmware will start with this. Check it out.
On my tablet at 25% there is no frequency limitation.
Use at your own risk. I am not responsible for the permanently damaged battery.
Download kernel_cpu_fix
Download kernel_cpu_fix+fw for PE android 10

Hi Vartom. Which ROM did you test this kernel with? The latest PE + this kernel = bootloop for me. I make it to the Google logo but no further. I'll redownload just incase the file is corrupt (but that literally never happens in my experience).
Cheers!
(Edit1: redownloaded but the bootloop continued)
try the version kernel_cpu_fix+fw .

It boots! And my experience does match what you said: I'm hitting 1.9 GHz routinely at 50% battery and that has not been possible for a couple of years now. Thank you
I tested exFAT support (missing) and I think this is based on an older @followmsi kernel? His very latest includes that feature.

I think this kernel will make your experience better, although I wouldn't want to carelessly run intensive games or other apps with low battery %. It might work, but it might suffer a low voltage system crash. Usually harmless but it can cause data loss or corruption. Your Pixel C (and mine, and others) is trying to throttle because it does not trust the battery's health. In my case I am pretty confident the battery is stronger than my tablet believes. But I could be wrong!

Yeah, I think that my tablet is also underestimating the battery, for a refurbished by Google early 2016 model RMAed in mid 2018, the battery should have been replaced, else it is a new model, don't know but I got my tablet back in bubble wrap
Either way, we're all getting the exact same issue, and it seems LTE models aren't affected
1.9GHz would mean "HECK IT'S FASTER THAN THE SWITCH" memes...
By the way, if anyone knows the 4 cores vs 8 cores Tegra X1 controversy, and why we have only 4 showing on the C even though there's two clusters of 4 in big.LITTLE, that might be interesting, maybe the mighty @followmsi could answer this pls ?

Yeah, I think there was at some point some form of dragon-lte announced at the time of the release back in 2015, but I never saw one, so I guess it doesn't exist in a better form than a prototype

I don't know anything about an LTE prototype but I do remember lots of confusion back then about whether the X1 ran in full 8 core mode like the SD 810 or 4 cores at a time like it actually does.

Question Latest 2AVF1 software update - any complaints?

My S22 has gotten very, very hot during last night update installation, I'd say up to 80C and after it cooled down to ~30C I ran Geekbench 5.4... the score was 776/2986(single/multi). Today the score looks more normal: 1213/3287.
I don't know what to make of it because my S22U on which I installed the same update last night was just slightly warm and I don't think a different cooling system on 22U is so much more efficient, I've never had the S22 so hot during update.
So, my question is: has anyone noticed an unusual phone overheating during this AVF1 update?

Actually after this update, the microstutters that I faced daily are finally gone (most of it). Finally fluid animations when opening / closing apps. Previous builds were laggy as hell
