Anyone running Hong Kong (TGY) firmware on their SM-N9750 (vs Taiwan (BRI)?) - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

I switched to the N9750 from a Galaxy S9+ (SM-G9650) from the same "family" (Hong Kong & Snapdragon) because I was so pleased with many of the firmware customizations present in the S9+, including the Hiya integration in the stock Dialer app. (You know it's there if there is a "Places" tab and if a contact search also searches businesses in your area.)
However, my N9750 sadly did not come with this feature, but I did notice that there is a second region option for this model (namely my beloved Hong Kong!)
Can anyone running the Hong Kong firmware comment on whether Hiya integration is there or not?
TIA!

Thank you. I checked my apps list and the Hiya service is not there, which is strange. I'm wondering if it is only installed for certain locales when the phone is initially set up?

Well, I've tried resetting my device to both TGY and BRI firmware (though they both show up the same in "About Phone") and I tried different locales in each, but still no sign of Hiya. I'll just hope that it shows up in a later update. It is even advertised by Samsung as "Smart Call" on their global and Canadian websites.

Out of topic. I also have a BRI N9750, I am wondering how do you manage to reset to TGY. I also do not see Hiya services on my BRI N9750

I should have used the correct terminology. I did a full reset and then flashed the TGY firmware. The two firmware files (BRI and TGY) were exactly the same size, so it was of little surprise that there was no difference as far as Hiya was concerned.
However, even though Hiya was not in my list of apps, when I searched my entire Settings for it, it did show up in my system apps, as did Smart Call. So both services are there, but they just don't seem to be implemented with the current phone app bundled with these firmware releases.
One thing to note about the TGY firmware (before anyone else takes the plunge) was that my signal bars dropped from 4-5 to just 1. I let the phone be for a good 10 minutes and this did not change. When I flashed back to BRI, the bars started off at 1, but then quickly reverted to 3 then 4. It could have been serendipity, but I can't say for sure...

I see, based on my experience with multi CSC firmware, BRI and TGY firmware are the same with multiple CSC included and it will only switch CSC when the correct sim is inserted. So no matter how many times you flash the firmware, it will stay the same CSC unless you are able to find workarounds.
To answer your question on Hiya, I believe it's also CSC dependent. The services are in the firmware (I have just searched), but it will only be active when the correct CSC is activated. I have been trying to find ways to switch to the TGY CSC to get Places and Smart Octopus but there isn't any working method yet. The Smart Call is advertised as a regional feature (you can find that statement the fine print) and I believe Hiya isn't available in Taiwan. It is available in HK so if the phone has TGY CSC it will might activate Smart Call and Places (since it is advertised in the HK Samsung page)

I even tried the Samkey method and I got a "This model is NOT supported for CSC Change" error, even though the Samkey website mentioned the SM-N9750 as a supported model. I emailed the dev for clarification.

I went through Samkey as well and got the same results and also email the dev. Looks like the only way is to switch to TGY right now is to get a provisioned hk sim.

I tried that lol since I got one lying around and it keep asking for provision and it didn't change CSC.

My N9750 (I'm using it on T-Mobile in the US) has Hiya support. Volte and WiFi calling are also working. I'm on the Taiwan (BRI) CSC.

Anyone has any solution for call recording with acceptable quality?
I think they removed network speed in status bar also completely!

N976V Early Access Retail Firmware Link Here

This is the Verizon Note 10+ 5G, for those who may not know.
Once the device is released, this will be available via SamFirm and other sources, so I'm really only providing this now as early access, for anyone that wants to dig in and play around and see what they can find, etc.
I compress extra small for space and bandwidth savings. The default Windows extractor can't handle it, so you'll need a 3rd party tool like 7zip, WinRAR, etc
Happy flashing!

Are you aware if there any universal (unlocked) firmwares available for this model, or do you have any suggestions for adding Samsung Cloud that Verizon intentionally removed??

you can install cloud from the app store..
the device has two csc.. GCF and VZW.. however once unlocked any carrier should work minus the 5G stuff which im sure is vzw onky on this model.. i have used with sprint and tmo sims and they work..
besides the vzw bloat its just as good..

Without being explicit, it allows you to run an app service with a GUDP plan that would otherwise be blocked Only concern is if it will prevent 5G access.. no change to APN and LTE seems to work fine but wasn't sure...

The app store does NOT even offer Samsung Cloud for Verizon devices. Furthermore, even after downloading Samsung Cloud from alternate sources, for whatever reason, Verizon has somehow managed to block the installation of it...
If you have a workaround, I'm all ears...

I'm pretty sure you get that message because it is already installed but blacklisted in the vzw csc. Of course you'd need root to change that though.

verizon does block it to an extent but if u want cloud its very easy to allow it.. just change the csc to GCF.. if u dont want it to stay on gcf then u could experiment with it.. i believe once its installed then switchin back to vzw might b ok?
if u dunno how to change csc u can use *#272*IMEI#
i do not recommend u use the DEV/QA function since u mighthave a hard time changing it back from gcf (DEV/QA makes it to wherecscdoesntchange when a sim card is inserted andstays whatever itsset to) since gcf doesnt have a way to get to the csc menu

For the dialer code, do I actually have to input my IMEI number??
...because simply typing 'IMEI' in the T9 dialer does not do anything.
Kinda confused on this one. Would you mind clarifying?? Thanks in advance...

Question Samsung CSC

Hey there
Got my S21 FE (in Greece) and I was searching for smart call (I know it's not as good as Google phone, but I really like Samsung cause I can answer calls without leaving any app I use) and sadly it's not present to activate.
I checked the csc and saw it was eux, was wondering if it would be better to change it to eur (for Greece) or should I leave it as it is.
I think eux is for faster updates but I would like to try smart call.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Is there any downsides to this besides losing some Samsung apps?
You shouldn't loose anything as far as I'm aware, it's baked into the firmware, but the CSC either allows it or doesn't based on local laws, so you shouldnt loose any apps, unless for whatever reason they don't have them in those regions. Just research which firmware or region has the software that closest matches your needs

Question Using LTE version in other countries

Hello.
I am living in Norway and I have the opportunity to get the Pixel watch from the UK.
Will it be restricted here so just basic functionality like notifications and health tracking will work, or can I take use of e-sim, and google pay?
Maybe there is a way to spoof it if ever it is restricted?
Thanks in advance!
Update: I got it working with help from @lxrable , all kudos to him!

Hello! I live in Sweden and i got LTE working on the Pixel Watch. I am using the carrier Telenor.
Ordered a esim from a supported carrier/country. (Vodafone De Pay as you go free esim)
Activated the eSim, and restarted my phone making sure I had connection with the supported carrier.
Launched the Pixel Watch App in my phone.
Went into the eSim/Carrier section and clicked on setting up the connection with the supported carrier.
Changed to the phone settings, and deactivated the temporary eSim and activated my primary eSim
Switched back to the Pixel Watch App, with the request to scan a QR code still active.
Scanned the QR-kod I got for smartwatch at Telenor SE

Ok. Can you elaborate what you did? And did you get LTE to work?
Hello again. I recieved my LTE Watch today.
When it come to adding E-sim to the watch it only say "set up your mobile service", but there is nothing to click after that. Seems some options should show up under the text. I talked to my provider and they said it should work.
Secondly I added my card succesfully to Google pay, but when I open Google wallet on the watch it says it's not supported in my country. Google pay on wearos should be available in Norway so can this be because of the watch not being sold in Norway?
After tinkering with the watch and the phone, I made Google Pay work by clearing data on wallet app on watch. (I did try it before, but didn't do anything then)
Has anybody been able to setup the esim in an unsupported country?
I have an esim for my Pixel watch but like others, the page to set it up in the app is blank.

Hi @hippos78 , i live in Italy too!! How did you setup the esim? I have Tim...
I was able to order an eSIM from Vodafone Germany (pay as you go, 0€).
After adding the eSIM to my phone I was able to scan the QR code of my unsupported carrier successfully.
However, my carrier requires custom APN settings, and I don't know how I can change them, so I can call, but I have no data connection.
Does anyone have any idea how I can change the APN settings on the Pixel Watch?

Have been trying with TIM for a week. No progress yet. We can't get a QR for the multisim in Italy. Best solution so far is to use a very mobile esim on your watch (no problem with APN but different number so no calls unless watch is connected).

How can I have call recording feature enable in my Samsung S20 FE (SM-G7810, Hong Kong)?

From different sources, I have learned that by changing the CSC code I can enable the call recording feature. But on this website (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s20-fe/firmware/#SM-G7810), I can only see Hong Kong and Chinese Rom for my model number. So, I don't know how can I achieve the call recording feature on my phone.
Can anyone help, please?
try this app called Cube ACR.
I use it on my S20 Ultra and practically every other phone I've had too and it works on every make/model for me. I'm in the US so keep that in mind but might as well try it.
