HTC (u11, u12) headphones for Pixel 3xl - Google Pixel 3 XL Accessories

Htc with two last flagships has brilliant headphones with usb type-c connector. I'd really love to use it with my Pixel 3xl, but it says that headphones is not supported. Maybe is there some way to make it work?

The only audio-out devices that will work are ones that comply with the USB Digital Audio specification (an extension of the USB 3.1 spec)
HTC devices use an unsupported mode that Google will no longer certify devices with, passing analogue audio signal through the digital USB-C port (I believe using a sideband channel)
The only way to make it work would be to cut off the USB-C connector and wire it to a 3.5mm jack - or design a USB-C to USB-C DAC, theoretically a fairly easy task, you'll need to get it fabricated too though
This is not Google's fault, this is HTC's, they didn't follow the spec correctly.

Wouldn't see why not, but there's a headphone jack for a reason.
true but the idea of NC headphones without having to charge them is pretty tempting.
I am using some gaming USB-A heaphones with an A to C adapter on Lumia 950 XL, so I don't see why USB headphones that do their own amplification wouldn't work with all phones, for any type of audio. The output is much better than with twice the money older jack headphones because USB allows for a lot of stuff to be powered inside the heaphones, but:
1. the USB-A cord is rigid (couldn't find a flexible one), this causing
2. every now and then the connectors to get loose and altering the audio
USB-C heaphones with flexible cord are now my first option.
Here are the headphones with the adapter: https://1drv.ms/i/s!Al4LUIrM3JSolLls6UBZB8qSeVY2WA

Will the discontinued B&O HiFi Plus headphone DAC work?

even though the LG G5 failed wth its modules this thing apparetly works on any phone and even laptops etc. its a 32 bit headphone DAC. must be better than the attached usb c to 3,5mm in the box?

Not sure if it will work with this phone but the Audio output on Pixel is awful. This is a great AMP/DAC for the price just will need a adapter for the Type C port

Essential phone accessories for pixel 2 xl

So essential started selling accessories on their website. They have listed their USB c wall charger, USB c to 3.5 adapter, a couple of usb c headphones etc. I never picked up the phone and I've always kind of envied their cables. The black braided cables would just look so much better with my black pixel 2 xl instead of the white ones google gives us ?. I know some accessories like the Motorola and htc 3.5 adapters don't work on other phones. That and I believe google's 3.5 adapter has a built in dac not sure about essentials. I'm wondering if anyone bought the essential phone or the accessories and has tried them out on the pixel 2 xl if so I would appreciate any information you could share with the community.
I have 2 of the chargers. They work fine.
Wondering too, specially the usb-c headphones. Let's see if anyone tried or can try and give us the feedback..
I had both the PH-1 and a P2XL simultaneously. The USB Type-C -> 3.5mm dongles were cross-compatible. General opinions were that the DAC on the Essential adapter is significantly better than the DAC on the Google adapter. Both the PH-1 and the P2XL require a "Digital dongle", which is why HTC's (and others) don't work.
For the above reasons, I would fully expect Essential's USB Type-C headphones to work with the Pixel 2 XL. That said, I've not tried them personally. Also, be aware that Essential's return policy won't let you return them if you open them. So you're pretty much stuck with them (or trying to resell them) if you buy them and they don't work.

Adapters and Casting

Hi
I just bought a Pixel 2 XL off Facebook and am new to it.
1 - Does any adapter work for USB C to USB A Male if I want to transfer to computer? I have an older laptop about 12 years old.
2 - Does any USB C to headphone jack work? I saw some off Ebay but not sure if they work with any device.
3 - What is a good casting app? I have an LG Smart TV and would like to cast to it when I want to watch movies. I had a S3 and the video player app that came with it used to cast automatically and it would let me put subtitle srt files to it. I'd like something similar. I DL VLC player but not sure if that works with LG.

Hi,
I should be able to answer two of your questions...
1 - Phone comes with two USB cords.
1 x USB-C to USB-C for the OEM charger
1 x USB-C to USB-A (for 12 years old PC. )
Otherwise, here is a list USB-A to USB-C tested and reviewed by a google employee a few years ago:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ls/ref...nk_bb_marketplace&ref_=pdp_new_wl&ty=wishlist
2 - Not sure...
3 - Unfortunately, Google removed casting abilities from its devices. You have to pair it with:
https://store.google.com/us/product/chromecast?hl=en-US
Or

Cheers...
Sébastien.

The adapter I got for the USB C to USB A is only USB A is female and it can apparently only be used for OTG
Thanks
1. If you have an extra USB-A to MicroUSB cable laying around, they make adapters (readily available on Amazon) for the MicroUSB end to convert it to USB-C. I know as I regularly use one in the car and have a second one for any computer lacking a USB-C port, like an older laptop. @5.1's listing of cables may be correct in his home country, but not here in the USA. In the USA unlocked models came with just the USB-C to USB-C cable, the OTG adapter, the audio adapter, the SIM eject tool, and the charger.
2. Any third-party dongle with a USB-C end should work. If you purchased the MicroUSB to USB-C adapters I mentioned even an older dongle should work. The one included in the box is somewhat fragile from what I recall, so getting a third party dongle might be a better alternative even if you did get one.
3. I can't really help you when it comes to casting apps, as I don't use one. VLC however I think should work with your LG.
Hello,
Thanks @Strephon Alkhalikoi . I didn't know that... :good:

The USB C to 3.5mm dongle has a DAC in it so you need one that supports the Pixel (my wife has a Huawei and the DAC is in the phone, not the dongle, so the Huawei dongle doesn't work on my 2xl, and the Google dongle doesn't work on her P20 Pro)

I am currently on Ebay. Unfortunately the phone I bought second hand did not come with a USB C headphone jack.

Help - Finding a USB-C Headphone & Charging Dongle

Here's the adapter I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093PLRFZK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1
In case any user is wondering, the headphone port DOES NOT WORK WHILE CHARGING. Otherwise, either port works fine independently.
Also, the item description does say DAC which is confusing: it's supposed have the simultaneous use functionality if it's DAC/USB-IF. I'm outside the return window so I can't send it back. I'm reading a website that says there wasn't an industry standard at the time when Apple created the USB-C Dongle Trend, hence you need to find a dongle that is DAC or USB-IF certified.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a dual USB-C headphone & charging dongle that allows both ports to function simultaneously?
Update for above: Gah, the fine print says it doesn't work for OnePlus phones, maybe some but not all. Avoid it.
Update: Ordered the ESR dongle and this thing won't even recognize my device on my computer. Even left the headphones out, and yes I'm aware that you have to plug peripherals in a certain order for this thing to work correctly. Returning it, don't even bother ordering this dongle: https://www.amazon.com/ESR-Upgraded-Headphone-Earphones-Compatible/dp/B08B3S4JDR/ref=sr_1_7?crid=37JYC4NPBDFOP&keywords=esr+usb+c&qid=1658435689&sprefix=esr+usb+c,aps,98&sr=8-7

I am using Anker 3.1 USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter for regular earphones. This adapter is well made and easy to setup. Plus it has a 3-years warranty and for $10, that's the best thing I can get. The product link is: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Chargi...16&sr=1-16&keywords=usb+c+to+3.5mm+audio+jack
