[Beta V5 - almost Bug free] S10 plus One UI 2.0 Official Beta - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi buddies,
[18/11/2019] Beta V5 - almost Bug free
It has only been three days since Samsung released the fourth Android 10 beta for the Galaxy S10. The company is now rolling out a completely new build for the Galaxy S10 series. This is the fifth beta release for the initial markets which include Germany, the United States and South Korea.
This appears to be the fastest that Samsung has sent out two beta updates without the second being a hotfix for a major issue identified in the first. The firmware that’s rolling out today is a bonafide Android 10 beta update.
New Android 10 beta being rolled out for the Galaxy S10
Samsung is now rolling out firmware version G97**XXU3ZSKF for Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ units that are already running beta firmware. The changelog mentions that it brings fixes for several bugs. They include a black screen appearing on the device when it’s unlocked using the fingerprint, the date not being showed in AOD Photo Mode, overlapping of camera zoom and camera mode icons, music quality deteriorating after the previous update and more.
It’s pertinent to note that the list of bug fixes included in this update is shorter than the previous one. This is a good indication that Samsung is closer to getting Android 10 ready for public release. It has already stopped taking registrations for the Galaxy S10 beta program in South Korea. All signs are now pointing toward an impending Android 10 release for the Galaxy S10.
If history is any indication, Samsung should be in a position to roll out the Android 10 One UI 2.0 update to Galaxy S10 owners before the end of this year.

[29/10/2019] Unlock Issue Hotfix
Samsung has released an Android 10 hot fix beta update for the Galaxy S10 series for the critical issue that is causing devices to stop accepting the PIN, password, or pattern and locking users out. I am not facing this issue not at all, and Samsung is now pushing out an update to fix it. We can confirm the update is available in South Korea, and India, and it should also be rolling out in other markets where the One UI 2.0 beta program was launched given how important it is. The update has build number G975****3ZSJL and is a roughly 135 MB download.

[25/10/2019] Beta V2 Update include Fingerprint Patch
After expanding the Android 10 beta program for the Galaxy S10 to new markets yesterday, Samsung has started rolling out a second beta in countries where the program debuted earlier this month: the US, Germany and South Korean. It’s even available in the UK, where the beta program was launched temporarily. As expected, the second beta brings fixes for a slew of bugs in the first beta release; it comes with software version G97*USQU2ZSJF in the US, G97*FXXU3ZSJF in Germany, and G97*NKSU3ZSJF in Korea.
The first bullet point in the list of bug fixes is the most important one: The second beta includes the patch for the fingerprint flaw that enables the phone to be unlocked by any fingerprint when a certain type of silicone case is installed on the screen. This patch is available for those on Android Pie as an over-the-air biometrics update. The new beta update also fixes battery consumption and heat issues, force closes in Bixby Routines and the camera and keyboard apps, a bug that enables Dark mode even when it is deselected when a power saving mode is active, and a crash of the android.process.media process, among others.

Hey All,
Here we go again! We’re eagerly waiting for the 4.2.2 update from Google – hopefully the team won’t need to start over again. Please don’t report issues regarding bluetooth, it can’t/won’t be fixed before the 4.2.2 merge.
Sadly we have had some problems funding our buildbox (which spits out the releases below) so we decided to open a shared PayPal account for the team. Device threads will be updated with the URL soon; we’ve enabled the donation station on the right side of this page if you would like to contribute.
Now back to our latest release:

Happy New Year Kanglings! Here is a surprise for you. We’ve been pretty busy since November, let’s see the details.
We had to start over again because of 4.2. It was a tough decision but in the end we managed to forward-port most of our features and here we are with our first 4.2.1 based build.
Following Google’s original branch name our releases will have a version string of “JB-MR1”, eg. aokp_device_jb-mr1_build-x.
In this initial release we focused only on features – hence the short device list -, porting comes next.
Devices
maguro – Galaxy Nexus (GSM)
toro – Galaxy Nexus (Verizon)
grouper – Nexus 7 (WiFi)
mako – Nexus 4
Features
General UI
Custom boot animation
Custom carrier label
Notification background
Statusbar brightness slider
Recents RAM Bar & Kill All button
Power menu options
Lockscreen
Customizable text color
Volume wake & music controls
Allow any kind & unlimited number of widgets (new)
Navigation Bar
Fully customizable NavBar (buttons, color, transparency, widgets, etc.)
Menu arrow keys while typing (new)
Customizable NavBar Ring
Statusbar
Battery indicator styles
Clock styles
Signal styles
Statusbar transparency (new)
Customizable Statusbar Toggles (new, based on Google’s tiles)
LED Control
Custom Vibrations
Sound Settings
Less frequent notification sounds
Headphone action
BT connect action
Flip action
Quiet Hours (CM)
Disable safe headset volume warning (new)
Themes support (multi-user support still buggy, use at your own risk)
NFC Polling modes
We’ve also added lots of bug fixes since Google’s official release, and of course ported our previous optimizations/tweaks as well.
Galaxy Nexus builds ship with LeanKernel 5.4.0, Nexus 4 & 7 come with the stock kernel from Google.
You need to WIPE! In all cases for this build. Period. You also need to update your recovery (TWRP recommended) to the latest version before flashing if you don’t have a 4.2+ based ROM on your device yet!
Don’t forget to flash the Google Apps package after the ROM: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip
The team will get back to the usual (bi)weekly release schedule once more devices have been added.
Expect support for Galaxy S2-S3-Note variants in the next build.
We’re looking forward to your feedback.
Enjoy!

You can put in custom icons on the Nav bar, as well as change the height, number of buttons, color, glow color, transparency and glow animation. By far the best I have used for modding the Nav bar.

That's kind of like asking why people need custom boot animations. There doesn't seem to be a point, but lots of people like them.
I actually prefer the screenshot option in the power menu, myself.

[Edge Feeds] RuggedHunter's AutoCocktail

I made this app for the S6 Edge+ but it seems to work well with n915. I hope many here will find it useful!
Downloads & Support:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=64842908
Note: Since this was made for s6e+ and the cocktailbar on note edge behaves much differently, some description and instruction may not be applicable.
COCKTAILBAR ALWAYS ON & AUTOMATIC NOTIFICATIONS
*ROOT REQUIRED*
This is a beta app made with Tasker , that automates the launch of the native edge cocktailbar service on your device! After configuring your feeds, RuggedHunter's AutoCocktail will automatically scroll to the briefings feed when you receive any new notification! If you've ever thought it would be useful to have your notifications appear on the edge when your display is off...ever wished to make the night clock active all day instead of just 12 hours...this app is for you!
Notifications Only:
AutoCocktail will not launch the edge cocktailbar until a new notification is received.
When notification is received you will see the native clock & weather feed briefly before AutoCocktail scrolls to your briefing feed.
The feed will turn off after the AutoCocktail timeout has expired.
Clock Always On:
AutoCocktail will automatically launch the native clock & weather feed when the display turns off.
The clock & weather feed will stay on for as long as you set the timeout in Edge Settings > Information Stream > Edge Screen Timeout
AutoCocktail will then automatically relaunch the clock & weather feed.
AutoCocktail will turn off the feed when the proximity sensor is covered and restart it when uncovered. (Saves battery when device is in your pocket and easily restores the clock & weather after manually scrolling thru your other feeds).
When a new notification is received AutoCocktail will scroll down to your briefings feed.
Briefings feed will stay until the AutoCocktail timeout expires, then restores the clock & weather feed.
Recommended Settings:
Note - Samsung default behavior is to turn on the display when a new SMS/MMS is received. That defeats the purpose of this app. I recommend following these instructions to change that behaviour.
* Reorder your feeds so that a single swipe towards the center of the screen (any orientation) loads your briefing feed!
Edge Settings > Information Stream > Manage Feeds > Reorder
* Make the Edge Screen Timeout 10 minutes if you're using Clock Always On
* The cocktailbar uses the display brightness settings. I recommend autobrightness.
Supported Devices
I have an s6 edge+ so that's what I test on and officially support.
However this app should work for:
S6 Edge+ confirmed
S6 Edge pending confirmation - please post in this thread if you've tried with g925 variants!
Note Edge confirmed
And it might work for other devices with ported S6 Edge mods/ROMs.

I'm on the note edge running 5.1.1. Will try the updated version. My request would be that the orientation of the cocktailbar could be forced to always landscape. As the clock and notifications are upside down if I don't have rotation enabled. Another question is if it would be possible to show notifications icons but no content... meaning if I get a text I get the icon but not the sender nor the message contents. I don't want people reading my messages, but I do want to get notified that I got one. Congrats for an ongoing great work!

Since this app only launches your stock cocktailbar (doesn't modify it), I can't do that exactly...but what I could do is automatically enable your autorotation when AutoCocktail launches and then return to the previous setting when you turn the screen on again. What do you think about that? It would effectively accomplish your goal and you wouldn't even notice it since it would turn back off automatically if that is how it was previously set.

As this app is in constant development, there will always be some bugs. I would greatly appreciate if you would report any bugs in this thread rather than a play store review. Please rate the app 5 stars and leave positive feedback!
Continuous Feed Scroll
This feature is only available in the donate version
This is an experimental setting. Expect some bugs. AutoCocktail will launch the edge clock/weather every time the screen goes off, then scroll automatically thru all your enabled feeds at an interval determined by the AutoCocktail timeout that you set in the app. When the edge screen timeout (android settings) expires, the edge cocktail will turn off for a second, then come back on to the clock feed and continue scrolling.
*a known bug in this setting is that sometimes the swipe will launch the feed's app and turn on the screen.*

@Lanc-City,man you are a beast. We all cannot thank you enough for all that you do. Especially with the note 7 fiasco, even more reason to not give up this phone. You keep it feeling brand new!
Thanks again!
Edit: How do we go about getting you a recognized contributor tag? You deserve it.

Sent from my SM-N930F using Tapatalk
The rom is very stable. I can send/receive text messages and calls. Unlike Aurora, my screen doesn't turn red in chrome. It's snappy, clean, and a joy to use. So far, so good. I will daily drive this

Samsung Edge Screen ( No Root )

You can now use the Edge screen on Samsung Galaxy A50
• Install the Edge Screen Apk
• Give the Required permissions
• A shortcut will be placed on homescreen, open it & turn on edge screen.
( Check thumbnail )
> It should work on Non-Samsung devices as well, not tested yet.
> Tested on Android 9 & 10. May work on older devices.
> Device used for testing - Galaxy A50
***Problems
• Doesn't work properly with swipe from Right/Left gestures of Android 10.
(Fixed)
Just hold for a sec and then swipe on the edge for Android 10 gesture.
Works well with Samsung's gestures.

Hi Sumedh,i tried your app,i found a issue where only favourite contacts can be added.Other contacts even if added doesnot show up.I am using google contacts app and have disabled samsung contacts app.Other features i havent tried.
This is great.
Actually, we could help with some translation for Polish if you are interested.
I just asked polish android community if there is anyone interested and have a stock edge panel device to provide the exact translations.

Feature Request Thread

Since we have someone here from. Nubia, let's get a thread started for features we'd like implemented in future updates. Maybe he can pass along the requests.
Here are mine:
WiFi calling
Being able to set default apps
Better custom launcher support. It's kind off iffy.
Time zone support. My time zone keeps changing. I have to turn airplane more on/off for it to reset. This is on automatic time zone.
Some suggestions to start:
-Assigning apps/actions to finger prints
-Recents menu returning to preferred launcher instead of Nubia one
-ARCore support
-Google Dialer support
-App Cloning
-Auto hide navigation bar and transparency
-App/Screen pinning
@JerryYin
You may want to keep an eye on this thread.
Thanks
- NFC payments
- Update Gamespace to add features like sounds profiles (available on Chinese ROM I think)
- Improve fingerprint and face unlock (has improved with updates, further refinement needed)
- Remove phone is accelerated message when closing background apps
- Solve issue when sound only comes through one speaker when on speaker in some apps e.g. Whatsapp
Hey everyone,
Adding a soft-launch option, in the form of an app-like icon on the screen itself, to bring up the game space would make things more convenient. This would spare the user the need to flick the physical switch every time they want to play games and would offer a software alternative to the hardware switch.
Regards
NFC payments

Unfortunately, Google officially dropped support for Android Beam in Android 10. https://www.techradar.com/news/android-q-wont-have-android-beam

Didn't know that. Because my previous phone, Samsung S9+ updated to Android 10, still has android beam in NFC and can still share files via NFC. Same with gesture support for 3rd party launcher. Android 10 by default has no support for it, but Samsung's One UI allows 3rd party launcher to use gesture. Hope Nubia could also improvise in some of android 10's shortcomings.
