Android 10 and October patch update release at the end of this month

At this point, I'm not even sure the customer support representatives are even aware or knowledged with when it will be released, and are just saying dates on a whim. But here's to hoping. Would be happy if it releases by the end of October

Me, it is very, very annoying. I need power button two times for unlocking screen (maybe 2 because of nova launcher screen off too).

Do not rely on what customer care executives are saying their job is to keep the customer happy that's all. So just wait for the update

Not Possible..!!!
Xieomi never completed its commitment.

Hope they fix the fkin problema with this phone. The headphone jack low volume, more cistomization options, this anoing gestures... Top bar aways on. So many problems, the bad headphone jack is the worst i ddn listen music anymore

What's wrong with the headphone output? I find it much better (no noise) than my A1 (which is unbearable). Volume is high enough for IEMs and also big headphones (Marshall major). Desktop cans (Beyerdynamic DT990pro 250ohm) can't be drived properly, but why should they..
There won't be more customizations, this is all you get. It was always the case with pure Android (One/Nexus) line and probably will always be.

in comparation with my mia2 lite ... has a lot to improve ... in headphone mode we have not EQ even with MUSICEQ and DIREC installed on system (a2L has) ... and the volume is VERY low, already been debated on forum. I don't want to extend here ... who has a a2 lite knows, they don't care.
lets show the problems arround web to help developers to fix them please ... no debate just FIX

Built in EQ is crap anyway, I never bothered using it. Mi Enhancer was absolute crap too, I'm glad it's gone. Volume..there were numerous people complaining about volume on Mi A1 - this phone provided more than adequate power to 250ohm headphones. With 16-60ohm headphones the max volume was deafening. A3 is bearable at max volume, but I can't imagine who can listen at such high volume comfortably. I have hard time believing the never ending complaints about "battery drain" and "low headphone volume" with every monthly update.
If you want real, high quality EQ, use RE Equalizer or simplified Eqfy by the same company.
XDA is place for helping, not for whining or "letting developers know" - they do not read these posts, they do not care about them. People on XDA will try to FIX your problems. If you're not interested in this, send a bug report from the phone and hope that one day it'll get developers' attention you think it deserves.

Rave. They cannot know when the update will be, because they have nothing to do with software development.

Ok little son of god you ddn like mi EQ .. we love !
Is a "native" way less RAM to a good eq option ..
You have pretty awesome headphones ham .. but with a good output vol i can adjust in diferent situations like youtube low volumes video, bad headphones and many other devives has a louder vol so CAN BE BETTER! Helps a lot. .. i 'll continue to write what i wish to be aperfect mi a3. I pretty sure they read .. they are humans like us.
(I'll make a video comparasion about vol, this is irritating me a lot. People are too tumbler about opinion,... In october patch they fix because in forums like MIcom and XDA we report all problems)

I have Mi A1 right now and A3 at hand. I am not going to comment the rest of your post. Please, next time use spell-checker (it's native in Android One series, so won't use much of the precious RAM) as it's really hard to read and even harder to understand your text.

[Update - new beta out 25/10/11] PowerAMP NEW beta - amazing update!

[Update 25/10/11]:
Beta 2&3 out - changelogs and download links here
Quick heads up about this update.
FINALLY my SGSII can read genre tags properly (previously EVERY player took its tag reading from the systems way of reading tags, resulting in genre tags being messed up which really bugs me as I predominantly like to listen by shuffling a genre! FLAC tags also now work properly).
More details and download links 9no warez) here: AndroidNZ: PowerAMP 2.0 Beta Quietly Released
tis should be a great update
Just downloaded it, really smooth and looks great. (had to reboot before it worked).
Going to do some more testing while driving home later. i saw that the lockscreen changed a bit.. looks quite good now.
I *LOVE* it.
Thanks
My Beta version of power AMP has expired as it comes with a limited period of time ,
anyway by which i can make it full version , obviously without spending the bucks

Dude its so easy to make your expired version not expired .... like all you have to do is go buy the software from the market ... I know man its such an exploit. You just go give the developer money for investing hundreds if not thousands of hours in writing an amazing piece of software and then supporting it. Tell everyone you know about this "hack"

Yeah, when I found out I was extremely surprised to see it had escaped my notice for so long.
What improvements were you thinking of? There are a few things I can think of, but this feels remarkably 'finished' for a beta.

I wish he would have implemented the alphabetized letters at the scroll bar, so we can select the letter of the artist instead of scrolling to it.
I definitely like the black neon theme, it looks so good now, I wasn't a huge fan of the bright neon blue fonts. This looks amazing with the black background.
Edit: After listening to the beta with my custom in ear monitors, I think I can agree that the sound has improved, not as drastic as upgrading to 2.3.5, but I think the music has more clarity and separation.
Good stuff!
Agreed on the alphabetising, strange omission that one - there is Search now though which helps compensate somewhat.

Oh really? I must have missed out on the search function, will check.
I was really used to using my blackberry for music, where I can press the first letter of the name of artist I want on the physical keyboard, I don't even have to scroll.

Just had a comment on the video that enabling DVC gave one person seriously reduced volume - anyone else able to reproduce this? I can't, volume decreases momentarily and then increases to at least the same volume as without DVC (maybe louder, no headset on me to test right now).
Ah finally PowerAMP looks nice. Thanks for the info

Speaker on phone, really that bad?

I know the Nexus was released today, and instead of asking questions, I should be out getting it, but I feel that I need to ask this question before I go ahead and get it.
The speaker for the speaker phone and audio playback.....is it really as bad as reviewers say? I only ask because I use the speaker on my phone about 2-3 hours per day listening to podcasts, music and such. As silly as it sounds, it is really high on the make or brake list of the phone.
Also, in this same realm, did the update that is being pushed out doing anything for it? I am just curious if it is actual hardware or just software. I know, with my Touchpad, when running WebOS, sound comes out of the speakers perfectly, but when I boot up the CyanogenMod based XRON ROM on it, it is rather awful and pretty much unusable. So, its obviously a software thing, not a hardware thing.
I don't mind waiting a bit to see if more users have more opinions on it, and worst case scenario, if need be, I wouldn't mind waiting until the Razr gets ICS, or at least the CyanogenMod version of it..
Thanks
I haven't had any issues with audio playback. I'm not entirely sure what issues your referring to either so perhaps you could clarify.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend it. (coming from a HTC Desire)
There were several places I read it.
This was from this morning (http://tinyurl.com/cv932ov):
Galaxy Nexus speaker blows: The speaker on the Galaxy Nexus is basically useless and one of the worst speakers I have ever used on a phone. It is nearly impossible to use it as a speakerphone and forget about listening to music and podcasts without a headset or external speaker. Some have suggested it might be a software issue and I can only hope so since I can’t even use it with such low volume. The speakers on the iPhone 4S are much better and I have no complaints at all.
I remember both The Cell Phone Junkie and also someone on Android Central mentioning it as well, but with the 2 minutes of searching, I couldn't find it easily on their sites. Its seems people have complained about them being "tinny" and not great at high volumes..
From what it sounds, you have no problems with it at all?
its really not that bad but it improves drastically with the free volume + app

After having a read of that article I'm pretty sure this guy has a biased opinion. Many of these so called issues don't even make sense. For example, better camera (if you look at the example shots hardly any noticeable difference), speaker issue (none of what is stated I can relate to), display too big?(irrelevant, user preference) and 4s being a world phone (doesn't make sense as a GSM gnexus is available).
So basically I don't think this guy really knows what he's talking about. But this is only my opinion
I guess sitting here reading the internet all day at work is going to make my head spin and I should probably just go pick the thing up and actually try it out for myself.
Or, with a bad speaker, I guess that is a way to convince the wife to let me put wifi/bluetooth speakers throughout my house.

Ohh, I agree 100% that the article was written by an Iphone user, designed to draw people from Android to IOS. But, like I mentioned, I have heard it before and figured it was easy enough to ask in the forums about it.
I think most of the reviews have come from the GSM version, to there might be a software upgrade that might have helped it..

Another Vote for Volume+
Its not bad. Its just not very loud. Shoulda called it quiet speaker.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I never thought my Incredible's speaker was really loud, but it always worked good enough for what I needed. Maybe I just need a Jawbone or some sort of Bluetooth speaker... That would solve all the issues if I couldn't stand using the one on the phone..
speaker is fine, used it all day so far... I'm fairly critical about speakerphones and music, and it sounds fine... no samsung phone has a "great" speaker, but this one is tolerable

how the OP3 handle Loud sound(concert) recordings

hi , im new to XDA so hello to everyone
one question which is very important to me .
im attending to A LOT (!) concerts and partys , almost always its electronic music .
and im wondering how the OP3 handle the loud sound in a club/concert ?
if its bad there is any way to get a proper sound ?(maybe a mod or something) ..
i think its important for more people and i couldnt find any proper answer or solution for this , thanks !
Bad, really bad.

BS.
If you want to record video, you could indeed run into issues because in the camera app there is no manual gain control.
You could hack the gain via the noise suppression fix and editing values in a file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/themes/mod-oneplus-3-audio-mods-t3407025), but that's not really practical...
If you record audio only, there are several good apps which allow to set the gain for excellent results even at high volume levels. No problem.
And, regardless which kind of recording you do, think of one important thing: Music is copyrighted, and musicians need to earn money. So don't spread your recordings without permission from the artists!!!
(And don't record if the musicians don't explicitly allow it!)
Best regards,

I think is software but you gotta take into consideration who uses these stock android devices. It is either android geeks that spend most of their time flashing new roms or fanboys that will never admit there are flaws. So Google always gets away with crappy sound recording because noone ever complains or noone ever tries. Most of these people just use the phone for texting and flashing roms. It is sad but that's the truth. If you want the real package get a Samsung or an iPhone or HTC if you can stand Sense.

You can try via their forum but as I said I have seen this through all nexus devices and my guess would be that the whole stock android code is not adequate enough for recordings at concerts.

Is LineageOS finally arriving?

I was viewing the download page on the Lineage site and noticed several references to "android_device_motorola_nash" in the changelog. Does this mean Nash in the works? I could not find Z2 force in the list of devices, but why else would the changelog reference Nash?
I sure hope it happens. If Lineage rolls out, others may soon follow.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I might head to TMO asap. The battery mods and gamepad intrigue me. I may stick with Moto for a long time if the mods work out.
Can you (or anyone) answer these questions?
How does the speaker sound? Is it good at high volumes?
Do the Mods stay on good and tight? Do they ever fall off.....perhaps if phone dropped?
Thx again.

For the record, the speaker sounds like crap esp at high volumes.....crackles a bit.

If Moto is anything like HTC, a hardware defect wouldn't matter with a software unlock. I haven't personally tried but most companies who openly unlock their phones can make a good judgement if locked phones have same issue. Like the purple camera incident on the M7, HTC didn't care about lock status since it was a known defect.

EMUI 9.1 killed sounds loudness

As many mentioned, the volume is much lower after the update.
Do we really need a separate thread on this ? Not trying to be rude but there's multiple threads where people have reported the issue. And personally my volume sounds the exact same as it did on 9.0

It was way too loud when I played game even at the lowest volume. Now it acts much more like what it should be to me.

Agreed. I prefer it like this as well. The phone is still quite loud when needed.
I got it fixed, probably by itself.
I played a song in PowerAMP and launched a game, then the game got very loud and stayed that way.
All good now
