Case for snowboarding

I see lots of threads in here talking about the otterbox cases, but it doesn't look like they are waterproof/resistant. Does anyone know of a case that could be used for snowboarding? Doesn't have to be waterproof but provide some moisture protection and some crush protection.
Thanks
I use my seidio rugged case when i snowboard and keep it in my pants pocket, everything's fine...just don't fall. Alternatively, keeping it in the lower leg pockets would keep it out of danger even if you do happen to fall.
I use an otterbox commuter for daily abuse and while it's by no means meant to be water proof, the tight fitting rubber flaps do keep the Evos' various ports protected from light moisture.
Whenever I'm working someplace where I know I'll be using my phone in very wet conditions I'll just throw it in a ziploc snack sized baggie which it fits perfectly in. Cheap and effective protection without adding any extra bulk and it doesn't impair the touchscreen or speaker any.
I'm sure an Otterbox defender would provide superior impact resistance and do a pretty good job of keeping it dry if you've got the cash for it.
Sounds like you need the Ballistic case. Of course, they aren't available yet.

I thought about a baggie, but I'm using it mainly for music, so I need to get a cable out for that, and still have decent moisture protection.

BB has a case and headphones that are waterproof. People use them to swim with. There is an armband that you put the phone in and I'm not sure how the rest works, but it does seem to work well for the people using it.

I used a siedio active limited case in my chest pocket on a recent Colorado snowboarding trip. It was my first time out so I fell A LOT. Took it out a few times to use it, fell every way you could imagine, all was fine.
I dont think you need a crazy tough case. The little bit of water that might reach it (from your hands or gloves) wouldnt hurt it anyway. Assuming you have decent gear that isnt going to be wet.
I went boarding last weekend with my EVO. My Burton jacket has an inner pocket that fits the phone and also comes with a headphone jack that I connected to. Then I just used my old palm pre headset connected to the jacket's audio output and used the headset button to control mixzing. Everything worked great. There are plenty of jackets with "ipod input/controls" that you can look into.
I have a snowboarding pants and jacket (matching set) for anyone who is interested. I bought this last winter from REI. The website stated that I order 1 size bigger than what I would normally wear.....but it's just way too big on me.
It's very warm and is water and wind proof. I wore a t-shirt under the snowsuit in 10 degree weather and was very toasty. I figure there aren't too many snowboarders on this forum but I know there are quite a few ice fisherman.
I went to Copper Mountain a few weeks ago and boarded. No case on the phone. I just put it in the media pocket on my DC coat and it worked fine. Fell a few times but everytime I brought my phone out it was perfectly dry. Also, you usually protect your ribs and stuff when you fall so inner jacket pockets work good for phones and iPods and such.

Beware of Snakehive covers...

I already mentioned this in the Z3 forum but I'm thinking it's a good thing to warn more people. I hope the mods won't mind.
I bought this Snakehive cover 6 months ago for my Z3. To my despair, I realized recently that the strap and the slot inside the cover damaged my Z3 screen. You can clearly see in the images below the slot form permanently "printed" on the screen:
Note that the finger traces are made on purpose to make the issue more visible under light.
I'm extremely cautious with my phones as I tend to sell them frequently to get newer devices for a reasonable price. I never damaged the cover itself : it is quite thick and doesn't bend under pressure (it's a good quality cover actually), so the damage really just came from the phone being in contact for too long with the strap.
I contacted the cover's brand and they pretty much denied that the cover is responsible and just told me to get in touch with Sony, which will never cover it under warranty of course (it's a wear issue not a device fault).
So, beware of this kind of Snakehive covers, they can damage your phone !
It's not really fair to decry all Snakehive covers, your cover may or may not have damaged your phone, but I have owned the wallet type leather cover for 15 months now on my Galaxy S4 and it is certainly the best purchase I have ever made.
It's well made in leather and no real wear marks after extensive use, I also use it as a wallet for my money (what the wife lets me keep that is). I have been that impressed with it I am going to treat myself to their burgendy finish version for my birthday in the new year.
At least with the wallet style version there is no need to remove the phone to answer a call, my opinion is that it's a well made product although slightly more expensive that most people would normally pay. There again it is also lasting far longer that the cheapy case I bought off EBay for my Galaxy S so I suppose that you get what you pay for.
A big thumbs up to Snakehive from me.

Moto 360 silver metal with broken plastic links

Hello, I have purchased a second hand Moto 360 from a guy and I dont know if those links were this way when i bought it or I broke them myself.
Does this affect the attachment of the watch on the metal bracelet and I have to worry?
Or it is designed like this to be prettier and have no function in holding the watch and the bracelet together?
Thanks in advance,
Andrei Savescu.
Probably you don't have to worry, because it's not a part of watch.
It is possible that this is only part filling the empty space, because the bracelet is too narrow to your watch.
I'm guessing this is the 18mm band/bracelet, which I do not have personal experience with. I have the 23mm Monolink and and it came with a plastic insert similar to yours. Over time it might cause the watch's plastic back to crack if the band/bracelet gets pulled to extreme angles. I think those plastic spacers are included to alleviate some of the stresses caused to the back of the watch.

Question about cases vs mods

Hi, I just got my Z2 Play, and I was surprised that it doesn't come with anything to cover the pins in the back with the phone. I'm trying to decide between getting a run-of-the-mill case or the official moto backplate, but I had some questions that you might be able to answer which might make my decision easier.
1) Is the official moto backplate supposed to be considered a protective accessory, or is it purely cosmetic? I imagine it protects the back, but doesn't do as much as a case might to protect the front? Or is such protection unnecessary?
2) What's the point of the cases which leave the back pins exposed? I imagine any mod that actually needs to make use of them actually needs to be flush with the back of the phone, and that the case needs to be removed in order to make use of the pins. If that's true, why leave the pins exposed instead of covering them up along with the rest of the phone?
Thanks for your help everyone.
Hi, there is no need to protect the pins, the Moto shell doesn't offer protection to the phone in general, only protects the back of the phone from scratches, it's main function it's only esthetic, about the hole in the most cases I am agree with you, it is a stupid thing because with these cases it's impossible to use mods, I found one without this hole, it's brand is mtlider, I bought it in Mercadolibre, I am in Mexico

Verizon offers a bumper case (wraps around the edges only) that allows you to pop on Mods without removing the "case". From what I've read it is one of the few (if not only) "cases" that allows use of Mods without removing the case. I use the wireless charging back almost continuously as it offers SOME protection and doesn't add much in the way of bulk. When (note...not if...) I drop the phone the bumper protects the screen from making direct contact and the Mod absorbs any impact to the back side of the phone, often popping lose in the process. It is not perfect but it does the job.
Verizon bumper plus a moto mod works but IMHO is a tight fit. I had to remove my wireless charging mod a few days ago and the bumper broke on the bottom at the charging port hole -_-

phone case

Could anyone recommend a case that dosent soak up heat from the sun? I deliver food all day and cant put my phone anywhere but in direct sunlight most of the day. It seems to handle better without the current case on but then its prone to a cracked screen situation.
Sounds like you need a car holder with a cooling fan lol, keep phone out of direct sunlight. The sun cooks phones, not good for them.
Maybe look for some type of case or a holder with a heat sink of some kind, more than likely some form of holder would be available.
I find phone stays cooler out of a case too, it conducts heat via your body or surfaces faster without one.
Most cases, even expensive ones, are either some form of rubber/plastic which don't conduct heat very well and more than likely insulate it if anything.
Edit: Cheapest option would be to use a holder that clips onto your fan/heater grill and just turn on your air conditioning.
