Definitive Best Google Cam settings here - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Themes, Apps, and

Hello,
I just got my Mi 9t Pro (K20 Pro) and i spent quite some time installing all the different GCAM modded apps and their settings. I think i found the sweetest spot so I thought to share it.
GCAM : HyperCam R5
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-jairo_rossi/
the settings file is also on the website, or different settings can be found on the "Profiles Cam" app, available on the Play Store
This makes really good pictures. I have very low noise levels and high details. This GCAM app is the best as it allows filming at 60 fps even if slow-mo and 48 mpx shots will still require the main app. But the 48 mpx shot aren't good at all. Hopefully the camera will be enhanced with MIUI 11....
But for MIUI 11 (Android 10) it is now a nightmare to get a working gcam. I am open to any suggestions

Are the settings to apply or? How do i apply if yes

- First, go into the gcam settings, and find the "save settings" parameter. Save the current settings with any name. this will create a folder in the phone memory
- Place the downloaded setting file in Internal Memory/GCAM/Configs where you will also see the setting you just created.
- Open Gcam again, double tap next to the shutter button, and you will be prompted with a popup to select my setting file.
Does that make sense ?

Weird. what happens when you double tab on the right of the shutter button, between shutter button and gallery shortcut ?

Ooops
Sorry all.
I posted the wrong link to the gcam app. the thread has been edited now

Yes now i can save settings and also double tap between the two buttons brings up the configuration selection

Not sure what anos means, but hdr + enhanced does not bring a lot compared to standard hdr+ if the amount of frames is not set to high .
You can also change the number of frames for hdr plus enhanced. That is up to everyone. I put it to 20 frames because if not it is better to use standard hdr.

Both auto.
1. OP's Gcam https://i.ibb.co/6Pb01tX/IMG-20191021-211044.jpg
2. Stock https://i.ibb.co/fq2Xxfw/IMG-20191021-211054.jpg
Details are better but the noise is a problem in certain areas.
With small tweaks here and there we can perhaps get rid of it.

If you find time can you check version 7+. I'm really struggling to find a reason to use gcam over stock except for version 7 astrophotography.

Indeed it is always a compromise between noise and flattening. I hate the flattening of the stock camera. But for me the noise levels are more than acceptable with gcam and Pixel 2 xl basic setup

In the setting of gcam you can find the HDR + parameters. I set it to 20 because if not it makes no difference with the "standard" HDR. You can lower the value but I think you better use the standard HDR and keep this one to 20 for when you have time.

The stock camera flattens terribly the pictures and a lot of details are lost. The color temperature isn't great. Also the green colours are oversaturated.

Here is a picture taken in a Not-so-bright place. The level of noise is more than acceptable in my opinion. Just make sure you emulate pixel 2Xl in the settings. This should be part of the config file but we never know.

Hello. the application is really not bad. I find it unfortunate that we can not use the 48 MP. Small tip, for the use of night mode, please use a small infrared lamp "$ 10" you can believe me that the result is simply surprising.

Yes it would be really interesting to see the result of the 48 mpx with gcam. Maybe it'll be possible soon...

Thanks for the gcam and settings. On a side note..does anyone elses k20 heat up while using gcam?

I've heard of some people using the app in SD625 devices, and the Mi A1 has the 625 SoC, so in theory it may be possible to port the app... I can't code, so does anyone know something about a download link that works on Mi A1 or can mod the XDA apk to work on the Mi A1?

If you are rooted you have to add below line in build.prop -
Code:
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
after that reboot. you will have working gcam with HDR+. although the slomo option won't work. and you will have EIS too in gcam.

1.No unless you have custom recovery which mia1 doesn't have yet.
2. nope.
i think Google camera hdr+ need a snapdragon 820++ isn't it?
@thewarrior2 It doesn't, it needs a 64bit OS and a snapdragon SoC packing a certain Hexagon DSP

If you cant find the difference by looking at the samples posted, then you dont need HDR+.
But the fact is the difference is night and day!
Google is primarily known for software, which is what HDR+ is all about.. It uses the camera h/w, takes many pics when you click the shutter button, each in different contrast, and applies some kick-ass machine learning algorithms on every pixel of each groups of pics it took, fuses all of them, to get awsome looking pics.. Thats all it does, and thats all that no other stock camera app does from any other manufacturer. Thats why it beats even iphone.
So basically, google does more through software , what all others achieve through multiple h/w.. Reason why pixel 2 still has single Camera.

yes it,s similar but with working portrait mode front and back.
Thank you sooo much!
One thing: Portrait mode with back camera not working - but I use omni gsi - perhaps that´s the reason!
Edit:
Ok now I installed the "Mi A2 Camera" from magisk downloads and my portrait problem is solved!
Do you guys notice a diference in the portrait mode when using the A2 lite (stock) camera vs the A2 camera? The harware is quite different, and I believe A2 lite secondary camera is used as a depth meter, so more blur in the background when using portrait mode. Am I right?
So far everything works except for the group selfie. Thx

Mi A2 camera app (magisk module - to download directly via magisk downlaod manager) is better than stock! Portrait mode works better and also for front camera!
I updated the magisk A2 camera module to the latest version and it comes with a couple extra features, but more bugs. Portrait isn't working, and manual controls aren't there anymore.
Do any of you guys still have the previous version and can share the file here? Thx!

Installed today and it works perfectly! I tried to install magisk Mi A2 camera module version 4.0 firstly, but camera crashed and it duplicated the main camera... so, I couldn't use it.
This one, replaces the stock camera and the results, in my opinion are better. Better portrait mode and better pictures in low light conditions and better front camera pictures. I think that this app really makes a difference. The manual mode is awesome too.
I have installed Gcam too and now I can use both too.
Thank you very much!

Long exposure photography

Hi, I've tried many apps to make photos with long exposure time, from fv-5 to freedcam and hedgecam, but in every camera exposure time always stops at 2 seconds. I've read that it's a software problem because MIUI version of A2 lite camera can go up to 32 sec. Now, I have camera2 api enable and I doesnt affect nothing. Aniway I found a mod of nokia camera by @linuxct (Im currently on 91.9.1130.40) that allows to shot 4 seconds, unfortunately without RAW. Here are some photos:

yup,
did the option for "force usage of legacy camera driver" is off? you can check it on

it must on then your shutter speed option will not showing as scrolling, it will showing as manual input number. and it work on my a2 lite than scrolling mode.

Of course, as mentioned already; using Camera2 API / HAL3 and the MIUI Camera's Manual mode is the better option.
You can otherwise get it working in FreeDCam, albeit with Camera1 API:
Turn off / remove Camera2 API and reboot
Confirm Camera1 API is in use by using Camera2 Probe, ensuring "Hardware Support Level" = LEGACY
Launch FreeDCam and re-run FeatureDetector
Set your image settings as desired, and turn OFF Zero Shutter Lag
Use Mode Pic, JPEG output. Swipe up from the bottom, and set the shutter to desired value in seconds
(optional, but recommended) Set ISO to ISO_HJR to get >ISO3200 in low light
39 seconds @ ISO12744 is the highest/most I can get. From 40s on there's some sort of wrap or restart from 0.

Edit: playing with settings and now magically works, lol. However the fact that you must use api 1 otherwise it crashes it's annoying, because RAW is only usable with api2

You're correct, this is the only 6.2 GCam working on the Mi 9T. But xtrme's version, although it's based on GCam 6.1, works great too with all 4 cameras. I don't know much about photography so I can't really tell which one is better overall.
Can you reduce NR for main camera as well? Night shots with HDR+ are good, but lack detail. A little grain won't hurt the image IMO.
Grainy noise is better than colour noise

Do you know if there is a version with working video/settings and auxiliary cameras support?
I suspect that video profiles for aux cameras are missing/hidden, at least in Global ROM.

Envoyé de mon Mi 9T en utilisant Tapatalk
Good evening everyone.
I have just joined the forum having just purchased a Xiaomi Mi 9T phone (That's still awaiting delivery)
Anyways, I am just wondering if this google camera mod can be loaded straight onto the phone or does the phone need 'jailbreaking' in some way?
Thanks in advance.

Just install the apk and enjoy.
The download links are dead? It just says that the file might no longer exist, in both links

XML :: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/p/f/2020/06/AmitBurial7.3-beta5.xml
XML is by yours truly All 3 lenses are tuned.
You can change the parameters as per your taste.

Q1. How to import XML files.
A1. Copy xml file in below folder. You need to create the folders.
/GCam/Configs7/
The top folder, /GCam/, should be created on the same level as the DCIM, Downloads, etc, folders.
Q2. Bugs
A2. Slow-mo is not working which is known issue in most gcam.
Pic facing the sun might not get saved.
Q3. 48mp mode not available
A3. Blame Oneplus [emoji1]
Q4. My tele & UW lens are not working
A4. You need root for both lens to work.

Portrait mode and night sight working fine on both front and rear camera?
I am on Huawei p30 pro. I was waiting for pixel 4 to launch. But since pixel 4 is not getting launch in India, do you guys think if op7t with gcam will be better than p30 pro?

P30 pro is an excellent shooter. If your only priority is camera , currently 7T with gcam will be very close, but it wont beat it specially in 5x optical zoom lens. Only thing is gcam development for 7T hasnt really begun, so not sure. 7T has all the required hw for camera tech, with proper gcam it can be the silent killer.

Even I was waiting for Pixel 4. But, now after comparing 7T with Pixel 3. I'm more inclined towards OnePlus for its looks and specs.
@amit_sen Is gcam port on non-Pixel devices gives you quality close to Pixel? I have Google Camera(had taken the backup when it used to be available on Play Store) on my OnePlus 2 but I don't see much difference.
Here is one GCam 7.0 working Mod tho it crashes while trying to zoom and still many features are to added yet.

Use savitar ZA v3 lib for natural looking results.
Apply the xml TWICE due to bug in 6.2xxx version of Gcam.
You can change the saturation as per your taste to make colors more vivid.

I have OP7T rooted. Do we have aux support zip compatible with our phone?
The existing one gives a bootloop.
A doubt!! How do we apply the XML?
Double tap somewhere near the capture button.

Thanks that worked. Are there any other profiles you would suggest other than the one by Savitar?
Looks good so far. I recognized that beauty mode does not work either main or front cam.
Do you know if OnePlus 7T comes with Camera2Api set to LEVEL_3 or FULL? I haven't found any informations online. As far as I know One Plus 6/6T were just FULL, but I've read some XDA threads reporting that OnePlus 7 PRO was LEVEL_3 instead... so I'm pretty confused.
On that gcam apk the camera just stays black and then crashes any ideas why ?

It's level 3
Do we have any working Aux support module. Existing one gives a bootloop.
