it's usually 168 hours. but once you get this waiting time do not remove your mi account from your device or factory reset otherwise you'll get waiting time again. make sure to use your phone during waiting time.

Bricked Ascend p6

I was trying to install the 118 chinise firmware and left the phone unatended for 10 min or so, when i came back the phone refused to boot. I could not acess recovery (vol + vol- power)... So i guess this is a hard brick, is there anything i can do short of sending it back to the service center.
As mentioned every where on the forum, the B118 chinese firmware has great chance of bricking the device. If bricked you have no choice except to take it to service.

Welcome to the club
Sent from my HUAWEI P6-U06 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I still wonder why this happens. I had absolutely no problems when going from B122 to B118 via soft update.
I had the same problem. I sent it to service. After a month of delaying i called them to see if it is ready and if they forgot me. They said me that they could not fix it and they sent it at China. Now i don't know how much will i have to wait. Maybe another one month. It drives me crazy that they are so slow.

European law obliges the repairs in maximum 21 working days ! After this time, you can go to ask for a new device !
I was in the same situation, and they returned me a new device !
Good luck !

Absolutely correct but with small typo, must be read as European Union law. After 21 working days they must give you a repaired or new phone otherwise you be able to break the deal and they must give back your money.

I just got a phone call from the service center, the phone has been repaired and the motherboard was replaced. They repaired it in bout 2 working days so thats pretty amazing considering its is holliday season and all.
They repaired mine too. It took 35 days . Now my phone looks a little damaged. They opened it from back and they left a hole there. Now i cant close it correctly from back. I can see the inside of my phone.

Unlocking bootloader with an "old" mi account

My current mi account reseted so I need to wait 312 hours yet. My mother has an old mi account (made it 3 or 4 years ago) but she never tried to unlock her phone.
Can I use it to unlock my phone after unbind my current account or it has a 360 hours waiting time too?

What counter? You said it yourself, she never even tried to unlock, so there never was a counter to begin with. These threads come up every day, just read the forum, there is no way around it, xiaomi fixed it. If you dont believe, then just go and try, you will see for yourself.
if your old mi account is unlock before sure can unlock on the spot with other phone, i have try before is work
Not working anymore. I have three accounts that unlocked miui devices before and they can't unlock new devices now. It says to wait for 15 days.

I tried to bind my account with a new RN5 PRO device with an old account which has already bound and waited the 360 hours and unlocked successfully with my Redmi 5 plus, but When I tried to unlock with the new device that got this morning (Redmi note 5 PRO), just asked me to wait 360 hours. Whatever If you have an old account with an unlocked device before or a new one, Xiaomi is going to ask you to wait for 360 hours.
My 2 latest phones unlocked right away without wait time. My account status on en.miui.com is Senior Member, don't know if it has anything to do with it.

Does the 168 Hours need a SIM during the whole period?

Subject says it all. I'm happy to wait the 168 hours , but I don't want to have to leave a SIM in as I plan still to use my old phone during the 168 period. I have removed the SIM and am now waiting. What I want to avoid is the 168 hours resetting but I only find out in 1 week!
Can anyone definitely say (i.e. from first hand experience) whether the SIM is needed during this period?
TIA
m
Nope, I waited the whole period without the sim on the phone.
Be sure that is on tho, I've been seeing comments that the timer resets if the phone is off during all that period.
Thanks @Onicss - thanks exactly what I wanted to hear. Yes, I am leaving it on the whole time, so I should be good to go.

168 hours

hello there.
a week ago, I tried to unlock bootloader lock. As you know, it said that I must wait for 168 hours to retry. after 168 hours I tried again and dang ! now I must wait 168 hours again ! I tried every solution people offered but non of them worked. I bought this damn phone 3 months ago. It does not feels like it's mine. it's like I rent a phone from xiaomi to use. What should I do ?

Bought a FRP S20+ unknowingly Help

Good Evening folks,
asking for hopefully an answer to my stupidity. Bought a Galaxy s20+ 5G today as I thought id treat myself. (Used of Course as i could never justify the price of phones new these days haha) Phone was reset before I got there and it looked good to me so took it.
I normally go through it fully but with covid about i didnt want to sit about so was quick. Got home and setting up was introduced to a message saying it was attempted to be factory reset and i need to put in the details of the previous owner (who had vanished online).
Now I assume this is the same as icloud lock and cant be removed? or is there a way to get past this?
In the olden days id just install a custom rom or flash a stock firmware but i guess this isnt as easy at that?
All help apppreciated.
