Charging speed - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Real Life Re

Very bad. Hard to come through the day.

It is extremely fast , almost I can't believe is like in 30 minutos it has like 70% do you know how amazing is that? I came from the Galaxy s10 and to get 70% it takes like an hour , and event with that amount of time I'd used to think that it was really fast , but now I know what is fast.

I'm having a weird behavior from charging. ( S20 exynos)
When charging, from 50% lets say, it shows 46 min to full (with the provided 25w charger ) , but when it gets around 97% it's shows 14min to full , after 1 minute goes to 98% , after 40 sec. goes to 99% , 10 sec. later Shows full battery, i leave there for 10 more minutes. I take it off the charger, couple minutes already drop to 98% or 97% , after that, it discharges at a more normal rate. If i plug in at 97 or 98% less than a minute it reaches full. Anyone else?

Bad calibration maybe, did you try discharging to like 5% turn the phone off and charge it back to 100%

Not to 5% , i saw a sugestion to go all the way. So o let my phone to empty ultil it turn off , and charge it 100% when it off , them turn it on. Didi 2 times, still the same.

Weird, I have no idea then, I know there is a calibration thing in Samsung phone butii I believe it's not recommended to touch it I'm not sure, maybe you should return it back

25W is very nice compared to my S9's 15W, but it could have been more. S20 Ultra has 45W, so the S20+ could have had at least 35W and the S20 25W.

S20 ultra have also 25w charger in box. I bought separately 45w charger but charging time is 9 minute's quicker with 45w. From 0 to 100%

I haven't done extended testing since I started reading about this.
I let my phone drop down to 2-3%, I plugged it in using the 25w provided charger with the super-fast charging option on.
It gave me 1h and 8 minutes to full charge. Right now, I am at 38% and it says 48m.
I think though charging speed has decreased.
Might be the latest update?
As far as battery life goes, I was on my phone from 10 pm until 4 am and it went down around to 46-50%. (can't exactly recall since I was sleepy) Which is not bad.

I have found to get these amazing charge time you must use the Samsung charging cord and ac charger. I had the use my old LG charging cord in car and places were USB charging is available. Samsung cords are type C to type C. Not typical. Now I have to buy new car charger and a longer Samsung cord for at home.

I feel the same, it takes 1 hours 20 minutes now to charge fully , but I haven't received any update
first 2 days it charged in under 1 hour 5 minutes.

I really like this phone, finally made the switch after 10+ years in iOS, but all these reports regarding bugs etc made me OCD about it that I notice even the smallest things.

Samsung has done an outstanding work with the 25w charging, it is very fast and does not heat the Phone. Comparing with a 10w wireless charger it is half the speed and heats the phone a lot more (I know that we have the conversion factor for the wireless).

Charging speed of the S20+ under varying conditions
I'd like to share an interesting observation with respect to charging phones in hot weather conditions.
There was a recent update that screwed up with the charging speed of the S20 Ultra. A good friend asked me to check if I'm facing and issues with my S20+ because both phones run the Exynos SoC.
It was around 12.30 pm yesterday and I completely drained my phone to 0% and switched off. My room's ambient temperature was quite high (Say around 34-35*C) because it directly faces the sun. The phone was running hot from the time the charging started and the charging speed actually reduced.
For example, Earlier it used to take 30 mins to reach 55%, but this time, it could only reach 50%. And a full charge took 77 minutes instead of the usual 71 minutes.
I blamed Samsung instinctively but knew that it couldn't be the case for some reason because the difference was actually negligible. Immediately, I googled whether warm temperatures can cause a reduction in charging speed and I wasn't disappointed; from throttling your phone, battery drain, and increase in charging time, warm temperatures does it all.
So today, I decided to test it once again in a fairly cool environment. I switched on the room air conditioner and set the temperature to 24*C.
Here are my readings,
10 mins - 22%
20 mins - 41%
30 mins - 56%
40 mins - 72%
50 mins - 86%
60 mins - 92%
70 mins - 100%
This was my original charging speed (cross-checked with youtube videos also).
Unfortunately didn't make note of the readings when it was hot except for 30 mins (50%) and the full charge was 77 minutes instead of 71 minutes.
Also, the phone did not heat while super-fast charging, so the lower temperature did help in controlling the temperature of the phone.
Test conditions :
1. Using Samsung's original 25w charger
2. Phone switched off
3. Battery speed charging test from (0-100%)
4. I did not use any phone case. The phone was in its birthday suit.
So here's what I learned,
1. During Summer, see if you can remove your phone's case; during charging and also while using it. It can help with faster heat dissipation thereby improving battery life.
2. While charging your phone, make sure you keep it on a hard surface and not on your blankets, bed, or pillows (all these can trap heat and make your phone hot).
3. I've also come to understand all our phones or at least the flagships are designed to run efficiently at cooler environments. (You get the idea, right? CEOs, VPs who are inside an air-conditioned cabin all day long. Okay, okay, even employees who work at the lower level or even BPO employees, technically they also stay inside AC cabins or rooms all day long). I remember reading about this when the Samsung S4 was launched in 2013) when there were too many complaints about the phone overheating.
4. End of the day, just try not to keep your phone in a warm environment. As much as possible, charge it and use it where it's relatively cooler.
P.S. I know the above scenario is a very idealistic setting, but yeah, just try!

Slow charging while using, faulty phone?

Got my LG G4 yesterday and when i charge the phone with the included charger it takes 128 minutes if i don't use the phone.
When i use the phone while charging for web browsing it charges a lot slower, it takes around 4 to 6 hours to go from 0 to 100%
On my Note 4 or Galaxy s6 or Nexus 6 the phones also charges a little slower while using the phone, maybe 30 minuten extra but on my G4 it adds a couple hours extra
So wanna know if this is normal or that i have a faulty phone/battery/charger
How are youre G4's charging while using?

Yes...I noticed that too when using the phone its only get around 200 mA. But if you leave it screen off ...it goes up to as high as 1900 mA. I guess its prevent the battery from overheating. Well it charges quite fast for me if I leave screen off. By the way, I uses a Aukery Quick Charge 2.0 charger. Go and install Ampere from Playstore to see it yourself. Now my G4 is charging...quite fast

I noticed this to with currentwidget that it charges with 200 to 600 mA while using the phone and 1600 mA when not using the phone
Problem i have is that when i charge the phone while not using it it doesn't keep charging on 1600 mA cause if it did it would be full in 2 hours and yesterday i started charging from 5% and waited for 2 hours without using the phone and after 2 hours it was at 60% so it didn't charge at 1600 mA for 2 hours
I wonder if more people have this slow charging issue or only the two of us
Think this shows that there is something wrong with the 808 snapdragon also cause if they choose to limit the mA to 200 while using the phone for simpel things like browsing that means it takes ages to get a full charge so youre unable to use the phone while charging
The Note 4 and nexus 6 didn't do that and the LG G3 didn't do that so way would they choose to do that with this phone
Like everything about this phone but the charging is the worst i have ever seen on any phone

Heat play a part too. If battery temperature above 40 C it will charge slow. Higher the temperature it'll stop charging. Now while typing mine is about 900 mA. So overall to me it's working great. Waiting for quick charge 2.0 update. And I never leave my battery less than 80%. I always have battery backup charger with me.

so i'm not the only one! sorry for the duplicate post.
may i know if you are using the dual sim version?
from my test, when using single sim w/o SD card, it is charging 1% per minute. WIth dual sim and a 64GB Sdcard (with media stored in it), it is charging .5% to .8% per minute.
Mine took about the same too! Just got mine yesterday. Hey my phone always power itself on, everytime i charge it (after being switched off).. Always switched on by itself. Is it the way it is??

Yes its been this way since lollipop update. My G3 acts this way too. G4 indeed support Quick Charge 2.0 its charge so much faster go get yourself one. Suggest get the one with LED indicator that show when Quick Charge 2.0 is activated.
Its indicated 7.5 V on USB Doctor.

Oh yeah.. finally I found this issue... I was seaching for a week. I also hot problem with slow charging.. I wonder why? It take around more than 6 hours for me to charge fully with phone standbye.. from 5% to full.. if I shut off phone take around 2,5 hours charging n if I using airplane mode on n with wifi on with off background running app it take around 4 hours full but if I use while charges n play game.. the battery in charge from 97% low till 91 % in 10 minutes.. I don't know what going on or my LG G4 is broken? And yeah, we have 2 slot sim card that only available in Indonesia or it effected slower charge.. while my G2 charge quite quick I use phone n took about 2 hour charge full n standbys only 1.5 hours.
I boought the phone yesterday....
With screen on it charge in 260ma....very very slow....
It's normal or i have a fault phone....
Guys also keep in mind, I think your USB cable can affect how the phone charges.
So if you have a long cable, or perhaps a thin cable (or just cheaply made/poor quality), then your charge rate will be slower. I confirmed this when I use a thick/official cable that gets a high charge rate, then switch to an extra long skinny cheap cable that gets a low charge rate (use Ampere to confirm).
So try swapping to a good thick short USB cable.

Unfortunately, this is normal. As the phone gets warm, it reduces the charge rate. My first G4 would usually charge at 280mA with the screen on.
Keep the screen off, and try to avoid apps that may be working hard in the background, to keep the phone cooler, and charging faster.
I did some testing of charge rates vs temperature. The phone CAN still charge quickly with the screen on, but you need to keep it cool to make that happen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/slow-charging-apparently-related-to-t3134443
Another strategy in the car is to use a cup holder to put the phone sticking up/out, and adjust an air conditioner vent to point directly down and over toward the phone. On my car, I can use the passenger vent closest to the center console, and the phone gets nice and cool even while charging with GPS navigation and screen on.

Is your phone quick charging ?

I used a few Qualcomm Quick Charging phones before, quick charge 2.0/3.0 and they were all pretty quick to charge, like 30 mins 60%. Just before the Razer I had the Oneplus 3T which used the Dash charge technology and that was like superquick.
The razer supposedly has the latest QuickCharge 4+ technology.. but I am yet to see the phone charge "QUICK".
When connected with the original razer wall charger, It is maxing at about 1920Ma using 4.01 V. (checked using ampere app)
I also tried a different usb c cable, on a different quickcharge 3.0 wall charger and it is giving me exatly the same output at 1920Ma max.
This is not right, is anyone else experiencing similar charge speeds ?
Don't know the electrical figures but performance wise mine charges to 60% in the first 40-45mins.
But then sadly it takes a while to finish the full charge. Like another hour.
On the lockscreen it states 'rapidly charging' so it seems to be using the technology. Remember this has a 4000mah battery, what phone were you using before?
That being said I'm getting fantastic battery life so in my case this doesn't bother me.
Good batt life here too. About an hour and 50 minutes from 4% to 100%.
Not sure how right that is. I think it was prolly 30 to 40 minutes to 50% or so.
Funny thing was, I charged while the phone was off, the white icon on the black background showed 100% (no numbers but it was full) but when I started the phone the battery status was 95%.
Ok, I got the other phone replaced because it had couple issues. I put this new phone on charge last night when it was on 7%. On the ampere app it maxed out to like 3000 something Ma and there was a buzzing/whining noise coming from the charger/wall adapter. I left it on charge till like 40% or something and I was not comfortable with the sound from the charger so i removed it.
Put the phone on charge today, it was on 35%. The sound from the charger is still there but not as loud as yesterday. Checked on the ampere app, its pushing on average 1900Ma this time.
35% at 11:27
50% at 11:45
61% at 11:57
75% at 12:13
91% at 12:34
96% at 12:48
1. I still feel the phone is not charging fast enough although it is saying rapid charging. Like mentioned before, connecting the phone to a lower standard quick charge 3.0/2.0 power port is charging at the same numbers..
2. Having looking at these links below, the numbers dont add up to what they are advertising quickcharge 4+ with.
https://www.qualcomm.com/products/features/quick-charge
and https://www.qualcomm.com/news/onq/2...alcomm-quick-charge-4-your-next-mobile-device
3. I've never had any charger/ wall adapter that made such noise. Is this a defective unit, or is such noise on these expected if it is like charging at a faster rate? the previous one was queit.. but then again the previous one did not push over 1900Ma, this one got to over 3000Ma.
Don't know what to tell ya, but I've heard zero noise from the chargers, I've got 2 units. Purposely kept my original instead of using the rma'd charger just in case. I'm not sure what their total sales are vs defective units, would be nice to get some communications from razer though.
I'm glad they got an update out after 5 days, shows they're working on it, but the update broke the sound and there's questions people have, all razer seems to do is say 'contact customer service'. Which isn't very cool when you're sitting there wondering wth is happening with the direction of it all.
Still love the phone though. Best specs of anything out there, sounds like just as many bugs as the pixel 2 or the iphone x too. heh
And it's a bonus to razer since this is their first and those companies have been doing it awhile.

I was on live chat yesterday, they said they will go through with the warranty team and try send me a new charger. They will probably just send out the same thing. The dash charge cable my oneplus 3t had was proper thick and that was charging at around 3000-4000mA on average till like 60%, then it would usually slow it down but that was a proper quick charge.
I connect this cable, it pushes to 3000mA for like 5 seconds and then goes back down to 1900mA. I think its either that the equipment they are using is just crap and not ready for quick charge or that they have large number of defective charging units.
Sad to be bumping this but I also have huge amount of noise coming from the charger, I have to say that 60% on standard phones is half or less of what 60% on the razer is, but yeah there is no difference for me from QuickCharge 3 and 4+, it's quite weird.
I'm going to go through and get a new charger, also the cable's lining is also ruined somehow, detached from one of the USB-C ends and as far as I can see seems to be protruding some alloy, most likely just some protection but it's really just what usually happens, also with mices from Razer.
Goodluck to everyone.
I'm using both the included one and my old nexus 6p one and both charge rapidly and pretty freaking fast too
I've come to a conclusion and still awaiting feedback from Razer aswell to confirm this, that either my phone is defective or Razer are claiming to have this phone equipped with QC 4+ but it really is not.
Qualcomm say:
When Quick Charge 4 was announced, it promised to bring even faster charging than its predecessor, allowing a device to go from empty to 50 percent in just 15 minutes.
The current Quick Charge 4 technology, announced in November of last year, promises five hours of charge in five minutes, a 20 percent improvement in charging speed and 30 percent improvement in efficiency than the previous Quick Charge system.
The company announced even more improved specs today: the Quick Charge 4+ system, which the company promises is up to three degrees cooler, up to 15 percent faster and 30 percent more efficient than Quick Charge 4.
So can anyone confirm that you are getting these numbers when charging your phone? No way near what Im getting. I've tested and compared the charge speed using Ampere App and could not see a single difference between QC 3.0 and 4+ on this phone. I've used the original wall adapter + usb c cable combinations as well as using a standard QC 3.0 wall adapter and a usb 3.1/3.0 cable.
The phone starts charging at around 3800mA upto 25% then reduces drastically to 1800mA and charges to full charge. Issue lies here because at 1800mA the phone is NOT quick charging. It charges quick upto 25%, very quick actually but after 25% it charges very slow. I know the fact that due to heat the phone will not charge at 3800mA throughout so would need to drop but this drop should not be at 25%. My oneplus 3T used to charge at around 3000-4000mA 60-70% then used to drop towards 1500mA-2500mA mark and would complete the charge at this rate. It was very quick, 0-70% was like in 30 minutes.
This is what I've got yesterday.
Started Charge @ 14:53 / 15% / 3800mA
14:57 / 21% / 42 mins untill full
15:01 / 26% / 44 mins untill full
Charge current decreased from 3800mA to 1800mA
15:06 / 30% / 50 mins untill full
15:10 / 34% / 51 mins untill full
15:15 / 39% / 49 mins untill full
15:21 / 46% / 45 mins untill full
15:27 / 51% / 42 mins untill full
15:41 / 64% / 33 mins untill full
16:02 / 80% / 20 mins untill full
16:16 / 91% / 10 mins untill full
16:30 / 96% / 5 mins untill full
16:38 / 98% / 3 mins untill full
16:45 / 100% / Charged
Took 108 minutes for full charge from 15%. This cant be right for sure? Can anyone confirm.
Note: I've had no apps running or anything in the background. Also note at 14:57 it said 42 minutes for full charge, 30 minutes later it was still saying 42 minutes for full charge
I think I'm going through the same thing. I'll charge and test it.
My experiences are similar to others. I am not using the box charger. I am using 2 types: Motorola TurboPower 30 USB-C, and the AUKEY 70W Charging station (Using the QC 3.0 port). I have no idea if its doing QC4+.. It just says "charging rapidly". I am using an app called AccuBattery pro. It is at 85%. See the attached picture for the metrics charging on the Motorola charger. The one thing I miss, which my Nexus 6 did without an app, it would tell me how much time until full.

I have the same exact issue
Can you guys all test your charge using the Ampere app and jot down the numbers like I have done. Make sure you put it on charge when the battery is below 25%. If everyone is getting the same numbers then the phone does not come with QC 4.0+ and/or it cannot handle heat properly hence it is only charging quick upto 25%. Or else, some of us have bad units.

I'm experiencing the same behavior you are using the QC4+ Charger and cable that came with it.
I did get in touch with Razer and at first they were not willing to accept that there is a problem and they were insisting that the behaviour was normal. After forcing them to "explain" why it was normal, they could not really say anything so they gave up on it and now they are saying I could send the device in for them to check it. I also got the half screen freezing issue which I believe is a hardware problem (somewhere on this forum and Razer forum confirmed) so I have just put a RMA request and will be testing out the replacement device when I get it. If the replacement phone is no different and all you guys are getting the same numbers then like I said, I dont think Quick Charge 4+ is implemented to their devices and its just "false advertising". I cant think of anything else.
Had the same issue charging stops at 20%
but the problem is not constantly appearing
Well so far we have yet to see someone come and say Quick Charge on their phone works after 25%.
Bit of a misunderstanding
So first of all Qualcomm states up to 50% battery in 15 minutes, but that will only hold true if used on the smallest of smartphone batteries aka round or just bellow 2000mah.
So technically 1000mah in the first 15 mins which will be about %25 of the razer's 4000mah battery.
Razer is selling the chargers themselves on Amazon on the razer store and in the description they quote up to %50 battery in 40 minutes which in real life means 50 percent in ideal lab situations.
So your phone and charger are working correctly and at the maximum nowadays technology allows.
Just always remember with anything new that comes out with technology like when they touted the up to 4g speeds theoretical limit this and that etc hardly anyone if ever anyone will ever have the pleasure of experiencing the up to... that has been touted.
I hoped this helped and maybe clarified things for some people.

There is nothing to misunderstand here. The last phone I used had a 3400mAh battery and charged to 60% in 30 minutes. Razer has the extra 600mAh yes, maybe the charge technologies are not exactly the same yes agree on that too, but this does not mean that the 4000mAh Razer could only handle Quick Charge upto 25%. Whats the point of having the technology if the remaining 75% is going to be slow. Doesnt make any sense, Quick Charge 3.0 devices dont work like this so why should it be this way on this phone.
Took 108 minutes for full charge from when the phone was on 15%. Said 42 minutes for full charge. 30 minutes later it was still saying 42 minutes for full charge.
Im just not convinced that Quick Charge 4+ is working as it should on this phone. Either software or hardware related dont know but something is wrong. On this forum or the Razer forum cant exactly remember but some guys were saying how the provided usb c cable was not even a proper usb c cable and it was too thin. Just thinking maybe that might also be a reason or maybe not i dont know.
For a 3400 mah battery to charge to 60% in 30mins you would need more than 7amp charger .
I don't even know one if they exist.

Charging speed

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Great
1 hour and a bit for a full charge.
To charge from 0% to 100% it takes 1 hour & 15 minute
1 hour and 10-15 minutes from 5% to 100% pretty good
and the best part is that it doesn't get hot while it charges!
I test it
Using MIUI 10 CN stable 10.0.1
@8% -> 100% using 1h10min
and get fully charged(means charging current is very low) you need charge more time(~1h40min).
Peak charging power is 17w(very short time,almost @ 12~14w before 85%)

It takes 1 hour and 15 minute to charge from 0% to 100%
Great for dairy and more time
As they said, it charges quite fast but I'm not yet convinced that it's healthy for the battery, and I don't think there's a way you can control the charging speed. Will be interesting to see after a year or so how it will fair. Then again, I presume in a few years the batteries will be even cheaper, so I'm fine with it either way.

A70 "Super fast charging" ! Really ?

Hi guys,
For those having the A70, does the "Super Fast Charging" feature work for you ?
With the original provided charger (with the "Super Fast Charging" logo on it), I need 3 hours to go from 9% to 100%.
So that is 1% every 2 minutes...
I do not consider this a "Super fast". I think it is "Decent" but would not go above that...
For me, this a severe disappointment... Unless of course I am doing something wrong
Anyone else can share his results for Super fast charging here ?
Regards.
Your phone must have an error. Mine lasts about 1:20 to charge from about 15% to 100%.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your answer.
The phone... or the charger maybe ?
Is there something to enable to have that "Super Fast Charging" ?
Or something to not disable ?
If I can solve battery drain (not really lasting as I expect) and this, I will think again about keeping the phone.
So far, it's more a non keeper
Regards.

Hello . Do you charge it with the screen closed? Only then fast charging works! IF yes then something is wrong with either the cable or the charger .You could also try a factory reset !

Hi,
Thanks for the info => Super Fast Charging only with display off ?
So if I leave "Always On" it will not work ?
Maybe that is why...
Anyways, I did as you suggested : I have done a full factory reset, and I have installed the bare minimum of Apps.
We will see about battery drain an battery charging.
I'll keep you posted.
Best regards.

Hi Sufyan3D,
Thanks a lot for that info...
I've made sure that the fast charge is enabled.
So far, the device is still at 100% so I can't say if the problem is "solved", but I'll make sure to report if now it charges as it should
And also about battery drain...
Regards.
That's correct! OK check it now and tell us! No battery drain, this thing is a beast! Keep us posted!

Hi,
So far, I cannot tell about the Fast charge.
But the phone is almost idle (really gently used) with "Always on" enabled.
It's been idle since about 3hours and battery is at 98%.
I consider this a rather good result.
Hope it'll stay as it is once I install all my apps...
If not, I'll try to track the culprit for the high battery drain.
Regards.
I have same problem, after reading your post, I drained my battery to 9% and charge, it so slow while charging.

Hi guys,
Well I think it is confirmed that my phone has a problem.
The battery drain is more than acceptable.
I drove my kid to school yesterday. It is a 80 minute trip to go there and come back.
While I drove her, I used the A70 as a GPS whilst it was connected to car audio with Bluetooth.
Battery drain in 80 minutes was a little less than 10% which is quite good I think...
Then I played a bit with the phone and went to bed.
This morning it still had 84% battery.
So that is about 2% battery drain overnight.
Not stellar but acceptable.
So I decided to hook it up.
The battery panel reports "Fast charging plugged in".
But after 40 minutes, I am still at 98% charge.
That means 40 minutes to get 10% battery.
I am aware that the last 10% are the longest, but still... 40 minutes for 10% ?
I will test with another charger to see if it is the phone or the charger...
Regards.

Download a free app called "Ampere" from the Play Store, to measure your charging current. Plug the phone into the charger then open the App to get the measurements. Post your result here and compare with other A70 owners.
App shows that my charging current is around 1100mah (with the 25w charger)
I landed here as I was surprised how slow my A70 was to charge. It takes around 3 hours to get from 15% to full, using the included Samsung 3A charger & original cable. Ampere shows the current trickling in at around 850mA. Super Fast Charging is enabled. My previous phone was a Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite which charged at around 2A according to Ampere.
PS I found this link which suggests most of the fast charging happens early in the cycle https://www.sammobile.com/2019/05/02/how-fast-is-samsung-25w-super-fast-charging
The Charger is rated at max 2.77 amps and 9 volts for fast charging. It will vary through the charging cycle though. Towards the end, above 80%, the charging will slow. How long does it take from 15% to 80% and what is the measurement in the middle of that?

I've never tested it. I have fast charge turned off. I charge my phone over night. The battery lasts me all day every day.
Samsung A70 Failed!!
I think A70 is failed in all fields.
No porper GCam. And now batteries.
My device getting charged in around 4 hours with original cable and charger.
Now I think I invest 27k in wrong item. OnePlus 7 or realme 3 pro was far better than A70.
It's just name Samsung, nothing else. Blank box with tag of Samsung. Really disappointing with this.
Sorry to fans of Samsung devices. But I don't like this. After 2011 (Samsung Galaxy Y s5360), I think Samsung is better nowadays but I was wrong. I will never buy Samsung phone again.

I am not facing such issues in my device. Regarding development, for a device like a70, development is always slow. We have the source codes available. The only thing missing is developers onboarding to support the device. If at least 1 dev puts the kernel and device source codes and tree in github, I bet development will start soon after.

I took some readings with Ampere during a charge:
0 mins 8% battery 4050mA
30 mins 38% battery 1060mA
60 mins 52% battery 1050mA
90 mins 66% battery 1020mA
120 mins 81% battery 1080mA
150 mins 91% battery 1000mA
180 mins 100% battery
So 3h from nearly empty to full which is not exactly fast. Is this in line with what others get?

Question Battery Misbehaving (Is it just me?)

Just bought this phone brand new and had the sense that the battery was draining pretty quickly. I noticed some weird behavior when charging to full and turning the phone off for some time and wanted to ask if it might just be a software issue. Also had a few more questions.
So the first issue is I saw happened after attempting to calibrate the battery by charging from 0-100% and past 100 until charge current was zero or negative (note I didn't bump charge it). I turned the phone off for an hour and turned it on again and it showed 97% despite me charging it to what I thought was actually 100%. To see if something was draining the battery I turned it off overnight again and when I turned it on it only went down 1% over 7-8 hours. Leading me to suspect a software issue. I used the 60 watt charger that came with the phone.
Another thing I did was try to get a battery health with accubattery. Using the 60 watt charger I'm surprised to see it estimated the capacity as 4400mAh and not 5050mAh. Can anybody confirm if they are getting the same results? (Charged in airplane mode with the internal fan off in a cool ventilated place).
Finally did the Netflix video test to compare the 6s to 5s and they are around the same with the 5s slightly ahead on playtime. Despite me matching brightness close enough that it was indiscernible which display was brighter. I played the exact same video synced and looped on both with audio off and the 6s hit about 14.5 hours at roughly 33% brightness.
Was wondering if somone could run some accubattery tests with the stock charger and see what you get?(you'd have to reset accubattery and charge from 0-100% and past 100% until charge current is negative).
Anyone else having battery wonkiness like this?
Can anyone please do me a solid and check average and max battery discharge rate with accubattery? I'm trying to figure out if I got sold a lemon.
With brightness set to the following at 60 Hz and wifi off.

This is from my rm 6pro global version result for your reference. Hope it helps for the comparison purposes. Tbh, i never crack my head off thinking about this overnight. But if you just bought the 6s pro and installed this apps to the phone, let it study your usage behavior maximum for a week to get a better result.

I've been using for months and this part is what i am concerned the most. Looks scary though?
Hey man. Thanks so much for looking into this for me . This is quite helpful
What refresh rate is your display set at most of the time? And do you usually have auto brightness on or is the brightness shown in your screenshot around where it usually is? Do you game heavily daily?
Your battery usage seems a decent bit higher than mine. But I'm glad to see our capacity estimates are in the same ballpark.
Also. I noticed if I charge my phone with the bundled charger. After I turn it off for a few hours and turn it on again the battery % is always suddenly 5 to 9% lower than it was when I turned it off. Does yours do this too or is my battery a dud?
That's not how batteries fail.
Something in the background is draining it.
The charge current draw can vary widely depending on charge state and temperature.
Real time charging current readings are only valid for the first second on Accubattery as once it updates with the display on that will skew the reading. You have about 1 second until Accubattery refreshes so have that window open and look fast.
The power controller won't/can't use the same charging curve with the display on... and will charge much slower. It ramps down the charger current draw to protect the battery when the screen is on. Avoid using while charging.

Most welcome. It is coincidence that i taking a walk in this forum and saw your post, so it is like my responsibility to respond at least as for your reference. Really glad that i can help you on that.
Refresh rate 99.9% of my usage will be 60hz to get my phone on long marathon for whole day. But i am charging the phone quite frequent as I am addicted to Asphalt9 and i have to settle down with the addiction.
Most of the time i would prefer auto-brightness but would make some adjustment depending on my surrounding. Dragging as your brightness level on your post for your comparison with mine.
Yes. I am addicted to Asphalt9 and keep playing for almost 10 hours per day. And forcing me to keep my charger set standby in my bag to be use whenever it required.

Just for my own theory. Our phone is like car. Whenever it started, it will trigger all system around the 'engine' and forcing some energy to launch all the applications at the same time before you start to use it. But it side effect is painful to see you battery getting drop that much than giving you a little pleasure for a kickstart of the day. I tried once or twice to check on that kind of situation earlier, it dropped within 1-2% only. But the stranger thing i observed, after it got fully charged, and you unplug the charger, you may see it drooping 1% after few seconds. Still be a mystery to me.

It's better to do brief midrange power cycling (40-72), Li's like being cycles like this. It reduces the wear on them a lot. Only takes 10 or 15 minutes.
So when you take a break, let it charge.
You can listen to music on bt with Poweramp with the screen off and not effect the charge curve.

High discharge rates and back to back fast charging is hard on the battery.
Best to give it some rest breaks especially when you start using more than 10%@hr.
Expect a battery lifespan of about 1-2 years on a heavily used device.
I watch a lot of vids on my N10+ and will replace the battery after about a year, sooner if needed.
It's simply not worth the risk of damaging the device over a $16 battery.

I see..and hell yeah to look for a rm6 pro battery is not an easy thing and not always ready on stock.
Fyi, i have some OCD symptoms which i could not see any less than a full charged battery capacity before i am going out. Is it affecting to our battery life span if it keep full charged even my battery still got more than 50%-80%?

Watch a tear down for it to see how bad it actually is to replace the battery. Availability will hopefully improve.
In the daytime if the battery has 70% or more of a charge on it, I don't top it off.
At night if it's at 50% or more I don't give it a partial charge until I wake up.
I can charge whenever I need to, so I take advantage of that.

Thanks. This is good to know. Thing is. My battery drops when the phone is off (not screen off, literally phone is turned off) it drops the most after a fresh charge and if I repeat the process it drops very little. Its almost as if it thinks it's charging more than it really is and then drops quickly to the real value?? But here's the thing. It also happens when I do a complete 0-100% charge and then overcharged it until it shows negative charge current. Like the battery should be full at that point shouldn't it? Or is android thinking it's full when it's not and completely cutting current? Is this just a software issue as I suspect?
Ah

Ah I see. Asphalt 9 + auto brightness explains your fast drain. Still it make me worried my 9% per hour drain is too unusually high.
It baffles me that the Redmagic 5s wins the Netflix endurance test vs the 6d

That's not normal. wtf?
Lol, it has a negative attitude
No idea what's causing that but the battery percentage indicator sounds useless.
Return it if you can. May be a mobo failure in progress...

I did it again this time at 63% and my battery went up to 65% while the phone was off overnight. Only to drain to 62% over the course of 20 minutes with the screen off .
And whenever I fully charge and do a voltmeter hard reset the battery always drops about 7% after the reset.
I think something is very wrong with the battery meter calibration.
Why do you think my mobo is failing?
