Private Space not giving back disk space - Huawei Nova 2 Questions & Answers

Well, a long time ago I tried an feature called "Private Space" and it made an secret part on my phone to store private data. I enabled this feature just because of curiosity. I deleted the private space but it didn't give my disk space back, (before trying the feature I had 40/64GB free after testing and disabling and removing the feature my disk space was 40/51GB but how? I think the feature made an secret partition but is there a way to add that partition to the main partition WITHOUT Root and I prefer without factory reset. Thanks for reading folks. Im not gonna reply every minute so sorry for that. (Huawei nova 2 android 9)

Max 2GB storage access for app !

There you go!
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=15451
Techticker.co.uk have published this summary of the recently held UK TechDays seminar held by Microsoft to introduce developers to their new mobile OS.
While the 9 minute video by and large cover information we have heard earlier, one issue of note is that apparently each application will only have access to 2 GB of storage on the device, irrespective of the actual size of storage.
Don't really see that as a problem; the main storage hogs are going to be music/videos/pictures, which are handled through accesible libraries without this 2GB limit. Maps for GPS apps could hit the limit, although I think I see the envisaged scenario being more on streamed data with caching.
Yeah I don't see what's the problem here. Just more BS drama from WMPoweruser to generate traffic.

The problem is that it's just heuristic restrictions on the usage of the operating system.
Why would you limit the size of the space an application can use? Is the underlying OS FAT32 and Microsoft is worried that stupid app developers will store everything as one monolithic file and therefore break their app when the store reaches 2GB?
It doesn't make sense, and restrictions that don't make sense -- regardless of what they are -- are a problem.
Yea, this is pretty restrictive, but you guys make it sound like 512MBs. How many apps do you have installed on your device as of now?

No, it's Silverlight Isolated Storage for saving stuff 'on disk'. SIS stores have specificed, finite sizes. Who knows, it might be fat32, might be exfat.

This is limited by Silvelight...
but i don't think this is a big problem, this limitation can easy change by update
This isn't really accurate. They haven't fully decided on a max space. WP7 uses exFAT and isn't limited to a single file size. I believe this can be configured per app and developers will be able to request more than 2GB if their app needs it for whatever reason. 2GB is just the 'default' and isn't even enforced in the CTP. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff402541(v=VS.92).aspx
My bigger problem with this isolated storage is that for no reason at all other than bad engineering it's incredibly slow. sviluppomobile.blogspot.com/2010/04/wp7-isolatedstorage-speed.html about 127x slower.
When I posted about this on the msdn forum, some MVP just basically told me to "use a webservice" and if i don't than this is not the platform for me.
I had issues with that when i was making some silverlight apps some time ago. But i figured them out. What microsoft is doing here with windows phone 7 is that they are using the phone to marry apps with their cloud counterparts. Apps like netflix ap mobile nytimes will use if at most 10 mb of local storage on the device. anyone that need more than 512 mb of local storage for their app, is doing something really wrong. in regards to speed of the local storage i have realised that each local storage created is essential a true isolated storage area. meaning its essentially a small partiton formatted in some format (might be fat) and all the process of reading from that and storing to it really gets some painful io problems. But it seems with windows phone 7 the unified storage engine seems to fix that. Essential from my views of the way my programs are working. when an app is launched. all other apps are essentialy frozen in their last state, so only essential apps and stacks are running. during this process the local storage is put into ram and the application access the program at close to the native speed of the ram. when a user hits the back button it essential takes the local storage and saves back to the slower storage medium and saves the state of the application..
hope this makes sense.
What do you plan on installing on your WP7? World of Warcraft?
Imho, you don't need more than 2 gigs per app, hell, even my Tomtom with all Europe installed on it fits on my 2 gigs microSD card.
Remember, it's a freaking phone!

[Q] Multi Touch Keyboard Stealing Personal Info?

Hi guys. This is my first post! I recently created an account with XDA becasue i LOVE the work and information i get and how everyone gives each other a hand Hope this hasn't been posted befrore!... I recently downloaded the droid x multi touch keyboard on my evo. When i installed a message came up saying that the app can store passwords and credit card numbers Has anyone had any issues with this? Is this really an issue? I currently use it for texting and convert to stock keyboard when inputing personal information. I would like to use my new keyboard comfortably. Thanks!
Well you best bet would be to go into settings > application > apps, and find the app and look at all the permissions granted. Some require ridiculous things like phone book access, ect. Personally, if you're second guessing your info being compromised, I'd uninstall it, but again, that's just me.
that's a common warning in android when installing any 3rd party KB. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

double post, but it does the same thing when I enable wiimote control keyboard.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
ya thats what android systems tells you when enabling a 3rd party keyboard. i confirmed this when i extracted, signed, and installed the htc sense kb like a 3rd party one and it gave me the same message. its because almost all half decent kb's have word prediction and autocorrect, so they store the data. if you were to, for example, type your bank pin in using the kb, and it would store it in the dictionary, it could possibly be extracted. there is nothing to worry about though. it doesnt say 'this=bank passcode' or anything. it would jsut save the sequence of numbers for its own future referance.
welcome to the xda.
Loving the fast responses! I think im going to stick with the keyboard. Didn't think it was that big of a deal. Thank you fellas
Now these responses are not to say that your phone security is not being compromised. With the growing support for Android and all the open source developing, the likelihood of attacks to your phone is greater. I'm not too concerned with it right now, but it is something to be mindful of.
I just read a blog the other day regarding this. But then again, I haven't heard of any cases where somebody extracted or remotely manipulated another person's phone.
Welcome to XDA!

Is there any news on this? I can't download anything from Xposed

Medical app not compatible - is it potentially achievable for me to get it to work?

Hi,
I use continuous glucose monitoring to monitor my blood sugar, as I am a type 1 diabetic. The CGM I use uses Bluetooth to sync with an app (Medtronic's Guardian Connect app) and gives blood sugar data, safety alerts etc., but this app is only compatible with selected Android phones, which doesn't include any Oneplus phones. I really like the Oneplus 7t so I would rather not sell it if possible, so I was thinking of trying to make it compatible with the Oneplus and removing the phone model block. This has been done before with a different medical manufacturer's CGM app ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/help/medical-app-compatibility-t4015519 ), so I think it should be possible. Given my lack of programming ability, I was wondering if there are resources anywhere that might help with learning how to do this? Obviously they're not going to tell me "This is how you make this specific app work", but I'm just hoping to find some general resources on this type of coding. I have searched around with no success as I am not sure where to look. I gather it would take more than simply changing the buildprop file to trick the app into thinking it's a compatible phone.
Thanks.
Would help to know the app and what issues you're having. Is it not showing up in the play store? Does it give an error?

Sorry, not sure how I managed to omit all those details. The app is Guardian Connect (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.medtronic.diabetes.guardianconnect&hl=en). I am able to download it, but when I open it it says "incompatible with your device", as it's only officially compatible with a limited subsection of Android phones (https://guardianconnect.medtronic-diabetes-mena.com/en_gb/app-compatibility). However, the Dexcom app that I linked in the first post also has limited compatibility, yet people have managed to get it to work with other android phones, so I'm cautiously optimistic that it will be possible for me to do the same.
I can't link URLs properly yet as I'm a new user, so I had to add those spaces in the links.

Yep, they weren't helpful at all though, unfortunately - they just gave a generic "keep an eye on the compatible device list" response. In the end I gave up and sold a Oneplus and got a Samsung.
Hi!
I just had contact with medtronic Belgium and they said; the more people call us the more 'problem cases' go to the IT'ers in America. So they mean how faster the problem will be solved so just give them a call

Here is the list of all Medtronic's apps. Download the APK, then select the file from your Downloads folder in the Files app.
You may be prompted about the app being from an unknown source or risk to your device. Ignore the warning, tap OK, yes, or allow if prompted.
Hope this helps and as the post above already said I would consider calling Medtronic customer service and asking them to make the app available to all phones.

I second this; rooted OnePlus 8 Pro running an A12 custom ROM
Personally I've actually come pretty close and was able to hide both Root and Developer Options from being detected using XPrivacyLua, but was unable to get MagiskProps working properly to get around the final "Your Phone is Incompatible" by spoofing as a Google Pixel (one of the primary "approved" devices) message, even after trying multiple older APKs combined with clearing data/cache

Thanks.
Actually the logic behind limiting the compatible devices boggles my mind because, other than replicating the screen of the insulin pump and sending data downloaded from the pump to health care providers, the app does not allow pump to accept commands from external devices. So I do not see what the concern is with allowing more devices to use the app...

There is no logic, just retarded medical industry bureaucracy BS.
I've contacted customer support multiple times and asked them the same question, only to get the same useless response of pretending to "pass on my feedback".
It's actually one of the reasons I wanna find out how to work around the problem even more; like who needs them to take proper control of a medical device that I own.
Would also be amazing to get a Wear OS app that displays the same or similar information to the app, but I don't see that being made by Medtronic for at least a decade.
