Redmi 4X looses internet connection at midnight - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Hi,
I have a Redmi 4X with LineageOS 16 that has Cinderella syndrome
Everyday at midnight looses internet connection. It's a weird behavior because it goes from 4G to EDGE and can't navigate even if I restart the phone. Then, in the morning, when I wake up I find it back to normal (4G and can browse).
I attached the logcat around midnight.
Please, what could I check to understand where the problem is?

[Q] wifi problems

I am out US on wifi only and there are a few issues i noticed. Im wondering if anyone else has the same problems.
1) If the phone is restarted it shows a full 4 bars when connected to wifi. Once the phone goes to sleep and has been sitting for a while then when I unlock the screen it says I have one bar and it performs that way. Toggling the wifi on and off has no effect the phone must be restarted to get the signal back strong.
2) The wifi reception overall generally seems weaker on my G than on other devices. In certain areas wife's Galaxy SII and my iPad both have signal of 2 bars and the G has nothing plus my G keeps disconecting from the wifi.
3) Power saving mode when the phone is down to the last 30% it turns off the wifi and turns on the LTE. Shouldnt it be the other way around!
Thx,
Mark

Intermittent Slow WIFI

Hey guys...
I have a problem,
once a day (or two) my wifi on my GS3 (stock, 4.1.1, videotron) becomes slow...
I try loading something (on the web)... it's slow, then I try a Speed Test.
Result is always something like : 250 or 500 or 800 KBps
Then, the solution is : desactivate wifi, wait 2-3 seconds, reconnect, and then bang 10 000 mbps. Everything is fast.
Do you have an idea why ?

Hmmm....
It could be because of the time of day. I have two wifi networks in my home (att & clearwire), and I have low bars (0 or 1) on both of them in the morning & afternoon. But all bars at night. It could also be that sometimes you need to refresh your connection, just like you have to restart your phone sometimes.

Wifi idle issue

Hi,
Does poco m2 pro have the same issue as redmi note 9 pro(linked below) regarding wifi connection freezing when the phone goes into idle state for a while? They fixed it in this device by connecting and disconnecting every 10 minutes to wifi when the phone goes into idle. Can any m2 owners please confirm from the router logs?

nope. never faced such problem. using m2pro for almost week 24 hrs connected to wifi.
Awesome thanks for the reply

Question Poco F3 mobile data and wifi drop randomly

Hi, I have a brand new Poco F3 6GB/128GB running on MIUI 12.5.6.0 Global Stable, and sometimes wifi and/or mobile data drop randomly.
I was just walking home about 30 minutes ago while playing Clash Royale on mobile data, had full signal bar and was on 4G+, then suddenly it lost internet access, 4G+ symbol disappeared, but the full bar of signal still remained for a few seconds before going out of signal, and then suddenly I have full signal bar and 4G+ again. Loss of connectivity lasted for about 15 to 20 seconds.
This happened in a place where I always had 100% coverage, full bar of signal and 4G+ on any phone.
I am using only SIM1, the second slot is not being used.
It has also happened twice on wifi, and on both occasions I was also playing Clash Royale while laying on my bed, then suddenly wifi drops and takes about 5 to 10 seconds to reconnect. I usually get 'Good' signal strength in bed, sometimes at 260Mbps and sometimes at 585Mbps, every other phone I had could maintain a wifi connection to my AP from bed.
Is anyone else having random connectivity drops?
It can be related to: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/random-reboots-while-using-lte-in-aosp-roms.4330991/

(Same issues)
and unfortunately no fix from xiaomi..
I will be able to unlock the bootloader in about 24 hours, if the .eu ROM does not fix this issue I will return the phone on Monday.

I have a bug ticket submitted to Xiaomi, it's just a matter of time (hopefully) till they provide the modem crash fix! Can you force your mobile to 3g, and see if you can reproduce? I bet you can't..just to confirm that we're having the same issue.

Haha I'm currently very curious whether Xiaomi did such "kernel hack" as well, which just resets the modem rather than forcing the whole system to reboot.
I'm currently on LineageOS with custom kernel, which implements such "kernel hack". To me at least random connection loss is much less bad than random sudden system reboots.

I'm curious what your dmesg will look like, although I'm not a dev myself.

Although I'm also a victim of random modem crashes (and initially it's not only modem crashing, it's the whole system was forced to reboot, until I found the "kernel hack"), honestly I'm not sure whether all these "random signal drop" "random reboots" issues share one common root cause at all. I have no idea it's a software issue (no matter it's kernel driver, firmware, or even some userspace stuff) or a hardware one either.
Besides, wifi and cellular belong to different subsystems, if I'm not mistaken? To be honest I haven't noticed system reboot triggerred by reasons other than "esoc0" (which should be cellular, not wifi?) myself.
I'm using Poco F3 on T-Mobile here in the valley in Southern California. I manually enabled VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling. I have my SIM card in slot 1. I'm on MIUI Global 13.0.2 Stable. Everything is working great, but when I drive to certain low signal areas, the phone switches to 4G and will not switch back to showing VoLTE 5G in the status bar even when I'm back to a great signal area. I have to use airplane mode, or toggle VoLTE setting off and back on to get it to switch back to 5G with VoLTE working again. Any idea if there's a way to permanently fix this issue? I don't know why it switches to 4G and never switches back! Is this possibly related to the modem crashing bug discussed on this thread? I love the phone but this bug is very irritating!
Hello. Im having the same issue. Were you able to fix the issue?

2 Wifi networks in the same house and wifi doesn't adapt

So i bought a note10+ recently and at my house and there are 2 floors with each one having a router.
Floor 1 = Wifi 1
Floor 2 = Wifi 2
I have 1gb speed and my note 10 reaches ~750mb on Wifi 1 and 2 if i connect to them.
When i go to Wifi 2 with wifi 1 connected and vice-versa , my note stays connect to Wifi 1 or 2 with one bar and only reaches around 32mb but with bad latency.
My note10+ doesnt make the switch, even if im standing near the router with the best signal, and, unless i loose the signal completly, it doesnt switch, no matter the duration or lock screen or anything.
I tried using bixby routines but the option is there only to turn off wifi with 1 bar or less, and doesnt let it turn on.
Tried Wifi Fixer but it doesnt do anything.
Even my other phone, Xiaomi Poco M3 does this correctly everytime and i have no issues.
Any ideas?
PS: its the only thing that makes me not want this phone any longer and from what i searched its a sistematic thing that happens in alot samsung phones. This is definitly a software thing.
