wifi speed - Redmi Note 8 Pro Questions & Answers

I am the proud owner of a redmi note 8 pro. I am totally enthusiastic about the device and the operating system,
but I found a problem and need your help. if I use my cell phone for a long time, the wifi speed becomes slower and slower. it doesn't matter whether i'm in the wifi at home, at work or with friends. Only a new start or the short-term disconnection of the wifi connection will ensure that the speed is optimally fast again.
Here is an example: when saving a photo folder in my cloud (1.29gb) the original upload speed was 1.1mb / s. after a short disconnection of the wifi connection and upload again, the speed was 10mb / s.
what can that be and how do I get the error fixed?

I have observed that my Bluetooth connection slows down WiFi drastically (WiFi is not really usable if I have Bluetooth enabled). Maybe you could try to enable and disable Bluetooth and see if this helps.

Pro 2 and WIFI problems

Hi,
I just bought one and its great.
i have some issues with the WIFI connection.
I would like it to ONLY use WIFI at home and not some 3g or GPRS cause it takes money and a already have a wifi connection, why not use it ?
1. Can someone tell me how or what program to use to set up in the phone to use ONLY WIFI connection ?
2. Is it possible to connect to WIFI whenever like say the weather app wants to update and then close the wifi for itself to save some battery ?'
Or do i have to keep the WIFI on, all day ?
Thanks for your help
Look for NoData from Modaco.
You can disable the providers internet access.
Wifi will still be available.
The programs will use any connection possible, so if Wifi is the only connection, they'll use that connection.
Wifi is also the preferred connection when both are accessable.
To close the wifi you'll have to do this manually I'm afraid.
in wifi settings you can change power save mode to minimize power consumption.
G-Profile can help you. Depending on the location or hour of day it can switch between 3g and wifi. It has a ton of options.
Check it out.

[Q] Restricting wi-fi to connect at 802.11g ONLY

Is it possible ? I have been disappointed with the browsing speed on my TP2 and thought it might be something to do with MTU settings or something like this. However, last weekend I decided to change my router mode from 801.11b/g to 801.11g only. WOW, suddenly my browsing was perfect (the same speed as browsing with my laptop)
So I wondered if it's possible to set something on the TP2 to allow it to connect at g Only - for when using in areas which have a Free Hotspot (like Cafe's or Hotels), since I cannot control the speed that they allow me to connect at.
It's very possible that my TP2 was connecting originally at g speed but that rates were in some way competing against each other.

WM will normally default your connection to the better of the two choices. If the option is between b or g, the connection would default to g. There are some things that could be affecting your connection, however. This is most likely a problem with your router broadcasting both signals at once. If you have no use for a b channel, then have it simply focus on sending the g channel.
This is exactly what I have done - shut down the b channel. However, I am trying to ensure that I connect with g ONLY whenever I find a Hotspot in public places.

Maybe the problem with browsing speed isn't your phone!
Better check if you are in an area with lots of wireless networks... Try to set your router to use a channel which is 3 channels distance from other WiFi networks.
For example if you have networks on channels 1,3,5,11 you should set your router to use channel 8.
Also try to set "802.11G Protection" to ON, if your router has it!
Any solution? (I know it's old, but I also want to restrict to 801.11g on my android tablet only and I have found nothing on the internet).

The issue is not with the phone in this case, but the access point. When running in mixed mode, data transfer speeds on wifi access points slow down unless they have multiple dedicated radios. If you want the faster wifi speed, just don't use 802.11b. It's antiquated anyway, especially considering we now have not only g, but n and ac standards on the 802.11 rfc.

i've noticed, however, my phone's (samsumg g-s5) battery drains much quicker when connected to 802.11n network compared to 802.11g. there is no real need for more than 54 Mb/s on my phone, but on my laptop there is. therefore, a way to restrict the phone to use only 802.11g in a mixed-network environment would be beneficial.

As far as I know, you can only restrict the mode of the access point, not the phone. I have yet to see any wireless client device, in fact, that lets me restrict which radio mode it uses, save perhaps some homebrew stuff running embedded linux.
EDIT: Pardon the grave-dig. I had been off the site for a while and only just noticed the above reply to my posting from last year after having last night posted a question of my own.

Wifi: internet not available for 'ssid' problem

My home network has fast and stable internet connection, both wired (Ethernet) connections are fine, as well as Wifi ones (Surface 3 Pro works well, Lumia 930 with Windows 10 Mobile works well).
However, Android / LG G4 has problems recognizing it has internet available. While it is connected to access point (with great signal strength), and at about 500Mbps transfer rate, it shows 5-10 times per hour "internet not available for 'ssid'" error, will disconnect and connect to LTE instead.
I have "switch to mobile data enabled" under Wifi settings, and would like to keep this. Just to make this switching much less aggressive. Is there a fix for this?

I have no end of WiFi problems on my G4 too. All my other devices and Android devices are absolutely fine. Does it on any WiFi network that I connect to.
Theres a few threads about this, I even posted a logcat but ndidn't hear anything back

Wifi loosing connectivity (H815)

This has been plaguing me for a while and it's making me hate this phone. I've also seen this issue pop around the internet so it's not just me.
What happens is the wifi stays connected to the router but has no connectivity (i've tried pinging the gateway when it happens, the connection is dead although it is listed in the router as connected). And it happens totally random, sometimes it works entire day, sometimes it happens every hour or worse. This seems to have gotten worse with MM. I used to be able to fix it with turning wifi off/on but now even reboot wont help (it connects to the router but immediately says no internet on wifi), i have to reset wifi on the router for it to start working. I have 2 other androids (kitkat, lolipop), an iphone 5, tablet with a hybrid OS, 2 laptops and a desktop on the wifi working without issues so that kinda rules out the router as the sole culprit (it's a Technicolor crap from my ISP that i can't change, i can only buy an additional AP but i have no idea it will help). Ofc, when the connectivity is lost, the phone is still connected to the wifi, hence doesn't switch to network and i stop receiving notifications, which is driving me insane (also a work phone).
I recently installed an app ("wifi connection manager", the app itself is fairly useless, half the stuff doesn't really work that well, and all the options are really things you can do manually) that has a background service that i thought would keep the connection alive. It worked for about a week and then all of a sudden it stopped. I've tries everything else, short of reflashing the phone.
So after ****ing around for the 1000th time, trying to figure it out i realized that turning the WMM off (router QoS) stops the connectivity issues. Problem with this solution is that my download rate over the wifi drops by half immediately (from 50mbit to 25) and after a while all the wifi connections start to deteriorate to the point where it becomes painfully slow. What's more puzzling however is that when i do turn it off, the G4 connects via 802.11g (and for some reason this makes the connection not lose connectivity). Other devices connect via 802.11n whether WMM is off or on (except the desktop, which has an old wifi card, also on 11g).
Sorry for the wall of text. This and the anticipation of a bootloop is making me seriously regret my purchase.
So my two questions are:
1. Is there a way for me to force the G4 to connect via 802.11g even when WMM is On ? It obviously chooses how to connect on it's own.
2. Given the history of events, is there a network guy somewhere here that could identify wth is going on ?
Thanks a lot for those that made it this far

Wifi problems

I have the US model- 3gb ram 32gb rom.
When i have Bluetooth on I get a serious change in wifi speed, basic social media apps take long to load. I have 200mbs wifi so it's not my internet. You can see with the screenshots there is a change in speed and it's even worse in real usage. I know it doesn't have 5ghz wifi but still shouldn't be affect by Bluetooth, right? Anyone have a solution or same problem?
Turn off bluetooth. That's the cause of the problem on the 7x. They both use 2.4GHz frequency so they can't be used together without conflict.
