Gcam defaults to secondary camera - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

After I flashed my phone with lineage os 16,I decided to download Google camera to hopefully get some better quality pictures, but after I installed PGMC_7.0.009_HDR_VERSION13, I tried to take a picture with hdr+, but it didn't save, the picture will save if I turn off hdr+. And then the next day I found out that it was using my secondary camera and not the main 12mp,I have tried multiple versions of gcam already and all of them are either using my secondary camera or just outright crashes(on gcam 7.0+),has anyone encountered this odd issue?
My redmi note 5 pro is the China version, with front 12mp camera.

Miui rom camera vs AOSP rom camera

Is it safe to assume that the google camera on stock based roms is better than the miui 9 default camera?
Im saying this because I just got the Honor View 10 and will be doing some camera comparisons and dont really want to go back to miui rom.

Imo yes, Gcam is better. Especially front camera.
In my Mi6, the stock camera was better than Gcam

Which ROM?
miui9 with Camera2 enable way too much noise
Official Aicp 12.1, Google Camera can't focus, in the end i'm using bacon camera
Unofficial LOS 15.1 Too much noise again
The best picture i could get with my Mi6 was with the stock rom and default camera

I'm surprised.
Google camera on any ROM I've used has been consistently better than any other set up.
I don't even use HDR+ because of the autofocus issues.
Just normal photos.
Always better than stock camera and others even when using HDR+ with those.
Video is another area though. Only MIUI camera produces consistent video quality.
Gcam just lags and crashes.
Bacon camera was decent enough as an alternative for video.
Currently on AOSPA I have gcam for normal photos and MIUI camera for video and special photos
I was really eager to use Gcam, the phone i had before the Mi6 was a J5 Prime.. So no Gcam either. Everyone said it was an awesome camera, so i waited 72 hours, unlocked bootloader, twrp and then enable camera2.. I tried a few gcam mods and in my Mi6 none of them where superior to the default camera that came with miui9.

RN5G - Camera

Hello, I have a Redmi Note 5 Global, I've rooted it and I'm currently running RRemixOS. I have enabled Camera2 and installed GCam, which works fine for the most part.
As I understand though, GCam or any other camera app I used doesn't utilise the second rear camera at all, correct?
Is there an app or a way to use both rear sensors in a non MiUI environment?
Gcam was made for pixel phones, which have only ever had one rear sensor. Until Google release a pixel with 2 sensors, you won't be able to utilize both on your phone. The secondary sensor on the note 5 is a bit of a gimmick anyway, all you need to do is compare stock photos to gcam photos to realise this.
I undestand that, but there isn't any other app that supports dual camera?
Or maybe a port of the original camera?

Question about Arnova's Google Cam for OP5T and its fix

While looking for a nice Google Cam port for this handset, the XDA Portal Google Cam Hub mentioned Arnova's port. I've also seen that there is a fix for our device so that the port works properly, and that it needs root or TWRP to be installed. Without root and with the stock recovery, I proceeded to install the GCam port and used it for a couple of days, comparing its pics with others from the stock camera app. I have a couple of questions:
I've noticed no difference in quality. Do I need to adjust something in the settings of the ported APK other than to prevent the camera from taking purple photos? Maybe I'm doing something wrong and the quality could be better, maybe on the OP5T there isn't a big difference in camera quality between stock and GCam, and I just don't know it.
Is the fix needed if I'm just going to use the ported APK to take still pictures with the rear camera? I've read that the fix just deals with recording video and with the front camera.
Thank you beforehand. Probably there are details that I failed to read when I was searching for the port, but with this GCam thing being so decentralized it's a mess.
The image quality es better, less postprocessing and HDR+ it's just fantastic and GCam always perfect White Balance
I found that some versions of Arnova has that purple thing, just try diferents versions and stick to the best one (it depends if your ROM has the libs like Omnirom Treskmod)
Just try diferent Arnova versions : https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/

Focus issue on oneplus 9 pro

Hi folks,
once i got my oneplus 9 pro phone I instantly flashed LineageOS 18.1 and installed the latest GCam .apk built by Greatness (the GCam by BSG doesn't switch to the ultrawide lens 0.6 !). From the beginning the focus of the camera seems not to work optimally. After I've pointed the area on the screen I want to be sharp, the focus of the camera "jumps", flutters respectively several times to adjust the sharpness and suddenly starts to jump again while I suggest the focus it already set and therefore I take blurry pictures often. For the stock camera disabling the "focus tracking" option should solve the problem. Is there any option for the GCam to fix the focus issue ? Are there options within the developer settings ? The focus is working much more better using e.g. Pixtica foto app (but the resolution of Pixtica is worse)....
Since I've played a lot with the GCam settings (even with the RAM patcher and the developer settings) I guess I've adjust something wrongly.... How can I reset GCam (App -> deleting cache and settings seems not to work) ?
Thanks in advance
Really no idea ? The issue still exists ....
