Can anyone recommend a good screen protector, some pictures would also be rad!

Using mocolo UV screen protector and is very good and case friendly.

The screen of my P40 pro actually comes protected with a screen protector. And I use a transparent case which seems durable and ok.

Yep mine did too. I'm gonna remove it though, just waiting for my tempered glass one to come. Just applied a dbrand skin on it too! Looks great

Tempered glass is the worst screen protector, it makes you feel irritated when you try to use your phone with it

Any amazon link of any screen saver you have purchased and recommend it?

I used this one. I can vouch for it, really good:

Yes, I ordered this one too. If it won't fit I'm gonna try this one:
https://panzerglass.de/collections/...ts/panzerglass-huawei-p40-case-friendly-black
And for the back, I got the Ringke Fusion X, black frame, transparent 9H Glas

Mine came with a plastic screen protector preapplied. No case though, not needed tbh, just get a nice skin!
I'm in the UK

I actually got it from ebay, new and sealed, UK version

Only this one:

why is this one so good according to you, there are no reviews for this product.

I had nillkin glass, some uv and hydrogel, then bought this one. Best touch sensor response from other glasses (specially uv) and glue (nillkin is terrible), it's also case friendly (I have lots of them).

The adhesive is under the entire screen and holds very well.
Cases? I recommend those from the same shop and nillkin.

Ordered 2 packs of 2

The pre-installed screen protector felt thick and spongy to me. Looking for a good alternative if anyone has one. Don't want to order from Ali express etc as delivery takes too long.

Do you have any source for that? I've searched but haven't found any info on what glass is used on the ZL.

its obvious sont never almost never uses gorilla glass. and ZL is newer than Z even better.
i vaguely remember reading somewhere that it was only the Z that got the dragontail treatment. the zl uses whatever the other option is besides gorilla glass and dragontail.
I think i read somewhere the screen of ZL is made up of normal mineral glass (used in watches etc just a little bit scratch proof) nothing fancy like dragontrail or gorilla glass, may be that's the reason they have put a shatterproof sheet on the glass to keep it all together in case of an accident.

Hmmm... then why do they put a screen protector on the Z's as well?
My understanding is the Z uses Dragontrail on the front.
With Gorilla Glass on the rear.
Apparently the reason for the rear being Gorilla Glass, it allows the different colour finishes the Z is available in.
Does the Xperia Z use both Dragontrail and Gorilla Glass?
http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/02/20/does-the-xperia-z-use-both-dragontrail-and-gorilla-glass/
I have taken the ZL to have the same glass as the Z.
Particularly as it uses the same protective shatterproof film arrangement
But unlike the Z, the ZL's Sony logo is embedded in the glass.

Well all the aricles on Internet are misleading about Z's display glass so I'm not sure about it but I guess front display glass of both should be same.
The back of the Z being Gorilla Glass is news to me but I can assure you that Sony doesn't use Gorilla Glass if so it being on the back of the Z then maybe but it's not on the front the Z or the ZL

Xperia SP uses gorilla glass. Says so on Sony site. It's kinda weird that SP has it and none of the other phones do. Maybe they are dragontail. I wish Sony would be specific about the glass.

Your right I forgot about the SP it does use Gorilla Glass it's strange the choices they make why only the SP I wish my Xperia T used it as well.
So we still don't know what's Zl's screen made of. It's weird that Sony makes it so hard to find out. It should be on the official specs page.

You know whats funny about that screen protector on Z, when you remove it the SONY logo goes off with it. Its printed on the screen protector... Not a case for ZL though.

Back side is plastic?

Good morning!
After discussions over a week, the european users are not sure if the back side is really glas. Also, if there is a splatter protection foil over it.
Is here any user who tried to put off the backside foil?

"The phone has metallic sides, a polished polycarbonate back and Gorilla Glass front." - V3
According to Sony Z1 Compact White Paper http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/d5503/whitepaper_EN_d5503_xperia_z1_compact_1.pdf Page 3 quoted "Both the front and back are made of durable tempered glass, reflecting the world around you while allowing you to get so immersed in content that the hardware virtually disappears"
Looks like there are some confusion here and Sony will be in big trouble. No one sure the front is Dragontail or Gorilla glass too.
Sorry but changing a whitepaper after release? Sony, what's up?

Dunno about plastic back, but the piece about front glass is wrong - Sony does NOT use Gorilla glass in it's products, it uses Dragontrail glass.
AFAIK the back and front are made out of glass and are covered by a protective foil, just like the Z1.

Actually it's official. Back cover IS plastic.

You do understand, that if the back was made from glass, then there would be no point to editing the whitepaper in such a way? Of course, we can pretend, that is made from glass even when it's not, till there is an explicit statement... But, hey, this whitepaper is the closest thing we can get to Sony's acknowledgement of their mistake in the misleading device description -_-
Exactly this is what I wanted to let you know by starting this thread...

Do you mind share how you removed the back plastic protector?
I can not seems to find where it is joined to the body at corners.
Also have few deep marks on 10 days old Compact, though normal use. My Z1 back still looks new after 6 months with same usage.

So this premium Sony phone, going for approx. £400 after VAT, has a plastic back. Might as well be designed by Samsung!
BTW I actually ordered this phone; expecting delivery sometime next week.
I think plastic back is better than glass. Aluminum should be more fancy but glass, I think it's a not so good idea. Just my personal opinion
Sent from a mobile Gadget...
Can someone please post this in it's own detailed thread along with the relevant evidence on the official Sony Xperia Z1 Compact forum so we can get an official response on why it changed? http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1-Compact/bd-p/Xperia_Z1_Compact?sl=y&sso_no_log=y
Well, I went ahead and made a thread about this on the official forum http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperi...f-plastic-and-not-glass-as/m-p/549831#U549831
I must say Im very annoyed to find out its not glass... and the sneaky way in which Sony amended the whitepaper is pretty low. Does it really affect how I view this phone? Well, I still love it... but it's certainly not good in principle, and has somewhat marred my opinion of the quality.

Best case ever is WITH NO CASE AT ALL! Our phone is from aluminium and I bought it for that. I want to feel the cold metal and the quality fabrication. If i want to touch plastic cover, I won't buy P6 at all.
ps - mine is from Spetember too and I don't have any single scratch.

Could either of you two maybe post a pic of your P6 with that cover on?
Just want to see how it looks in normal lighting.
I had a crystal case and it was great case to use with p6. But i didnt buy the imak brand (which supposedly is scratch proof), and i had scratches on mine. A neg. aspect with the crystal case is that removing or wearing it is a bit of a trouble as it is not flexible enough and i ended up breaking mine when i extended it too wide when trying to remove the case without causing any scratch to the phone.

Film/glass protector that does not get sticky/rough with time?

Hello,
I have tried some film protectors, and at first they work excellent, but after around 2-3 months of use, the screen becomes very unpleasant to interact with
It's like it gets sticky or rough, makes it feel "dirty". As soon as I put new one, it becomes again smooth. I wonder if you have noticed the same
It seems like a different phone after changing actually
Can you recommend some specific film? (I prefer it before glass, but can consider it too)
Many thanks

I have no experience with film protectors, but I have had the same tempered glass protector on my phone for 5 years with no problems. The glass ones are much easier to install and remove than film.
Do you clean the film? If yes, with which cleaner.
Never noticed any stickyness with my protectors whether glass, PET film or flexible film (wet applied). Although the last kind feels a bit rubbery.

I just clean with normal hand soap from time to time
Is there any other cleaning recommendation?
Thank you
Enviado desde mi Pixel 3 mediante Tapatalk
Should be fine. Normally I use Whoosh or some LCD cleaner. Reason I asked is because I read that alcohol affects the oleophobic coating on screens/protectors.
But maybe it is just that the coating wears off. It isn't forever. Because of the smooth feel I prefer glass. Although the plastic film protectors with glass top layer (Brotect Airglass/Dbrand Prism) are fine too.

I suspect the hand soap is causing your problem. Many repair shops recommend cleaning with only distilled water and a micro-fiber cloth. If necessary, add a little vinegar.
Ok understood, thank you for your answers!

On my Pixel 3 I use a Caseology GSP and my cleaning agent of choice is Whoosh.
Just as smooth as when applied for the first time.

I use an IQ Shield film from Amzn. It's been on my phone for 2+ years. It's excellent against fingerprints. Has a great, smooth feel. Self heals blemishes. Case friendly. Easy install. Best skin I've ever used.
Maybe you can use liquid screen protector on top of your tempered glass to restore the smooth oleophobic coating as well.
