Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro change video player default - Redmi Note 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I did research about the default video player in Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro with google and here in xda forums but I didn´t found a solution. It seems that a lot of Xiaomi users have this problem but it doesn´t work to change video player default app. Maybe xda has tips & tricks.
Changing default apps can be done in apps > customize apps > default apps. Changing default apps works for all exept Video player.
I changed the default value (which was "choose default") video player to vlc player and started a video via file explorer. The video opens in a Xiaomi video player. I did a reset for default apps and changed again to vlc player as default and it didn´t work. Tapping and holding on the video its not possible to open via another app but only send to vlc player which didn´t work.
After trying to set default video player app via app customizing I deleted some packages with "player" via ADB tools. It still opens videos with a Xiaomi video app. But I can´t find the video player "app" Xiaomi is using.
Does anyone know how to change the Xiaom default video player?
A strange thing is that I didn´t see a Xiaomi video player app before and after using ADB tools to delete packages.

I have faced the same issue wih Redmi 5A.
Already installed VLC app.
Then now i have deleted some more apps and went ot default gallery App and pressed on a video. Now it has asked for a player. So my problem has been solved.
attaching a screenshot for additional deleted apps. Try out these apps too. (Dont blame me if something goes wrong. Try at your own risk)
Cant attach screenshot. dont know why. but adding the text from ADB tool

Done!

The only solution I found was disabling it from ADB tools. You can add it manually, package name is: com.miui.videoplayer
When you disable it, you'll most likely lose the ability to edit slow motion videos, though. And it can't be installed as a user app, so if you reinstall it, it will go back to system.

I tried to install it as a normal apk, but it doesn't work because appears the following message ("app not installed")
<img src="content://com.samsung.android.memo/file/c7ebcd74-59c5-3460-0000-015632e0581a" orientation="0" altText="null" width="640" />
So I tried to install it copyng the apk file in a new folder in priv-app, and restarted the phone but when I try to open, it crashes
It appears a dialogue window that says "Unfortunately, Music has stopped"
What would I do?

Youtube playback only 480p

My unit is a rk3188 1024x600 resolution.
MCU version: MTCB-JY-V2.86
Running Johny DJ's 5.1.1 ROM
issue with youtube playback max out at 480p. Can't find any possible solution. I've tried different version of youtube and still same. No option for 720p whatsoever. BUT, in chrome browser in Desktop mode, i can watch 720p. I dont understand it.
What can i do?
SOLVED
Update:
Problem solved by using root iYTBP varant 480dpi apk. With Manually installation, not with installer, since no custom recovery on my HU.
Info here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-iytbp-injected-youtube-background-t3560900
Download here: http://iytbp.onlineyoutube.com
Pick correct variant for your device. 480dpi worked for my 1024x600 joying HU. So i used it.
Or
Pick the "allvariant" apk, it will take the guess work out. You want apl21 for anything over 5.1.1..
Followed these steps after you download the correct apk.
(II) Using Manual Method
1. Uninstall YouTube completely and reboot.
2. Download the YouTube Vanced apk and rename it to YouTube.apk
3. Create a folder called YouTube in /system/app/ and set permission 755
4. Copy YouTube.apk to /system/app/YouTube/ and set permission 644
5. [OPTIONAL] Extract the lib folder from apk to /system/app/YouTube/ and rename the immediate sub-folder to arm or arm64 or x86 or x86_x64 depending on your CPU architecture and set folder permission 755 and all files permission 644
6. Reboot!
Note :
Depending on your android version you need to select the proper installation location for system application like
for android 4.x - /system/app/
for android >= 5.x - /system/app/YouTube/ or /system/app/priv-app/
for Pixel phones - /system_root/system/app/YouTube/
All credits goes to dev and everyone on first link at the top..
Now i can watch 720p and 1080p..
I've been fighting with this for a while, i ended up changing my screen dpi settings to 1280x720 with 240 dpi, and i still can only get 720p60fps on youtube. I'm going to try your method and see if I can get 1080p. Thanks.

LG710EM - Video recording problem (v30b Android 10)

Hello, after updating my lg g7 from android9 20k to android 10 30b via LGUP clean installation, the stock LG Cam has stopped recording Video, the .mp4 file is created in the gallery, but it is corrupt and is not played by any player (stock, VLC, MX, BS).
The strange thing is that with the GCAM the videos are recorded and played correctly, so I don't think it's a hardware or codec problem.
Do you have any ideas? Maybe the cam in apk and the priv-app folder to share?
Thanks

Youtube vanced

I have Mi 10t pro and I have magisk rooted version installed. If I install YouTube vanced, it runs fine.
However after some usage I find the normal version installed.
Is there anyway to make YouTube Vanced permanent installed? I am on latest stock Miui version.
Thanks for any hints.

Disable the original youtube app through adb commands - search google, there are plenty of guides how to do that and disable Automatic update on Play store.
Just take a look at New Pipe instead

I disabled YouTube app and also the automatic update on Play store and still it has been replaced.
I removed it via adb, (actually from the phone using a shell app) but the Vanced manager could not install it.
So strange...

So in the end you actually disabled the original youtube app but couldn't install vanced. Search apkmirror for these versions and install the MicroG like normal app and Vanced with SAI app from Play store:
MicroG - 0.2.13
YouTube vanced - 15.05.54.
Good luck, zaqm
