Better wait for the note 20... galaxy s20 is a error almost at the level of note 7. A false start for Samsung.
Anyway if you prefer s20 plus after seeing Note20, at that time it will cheaper like always happens.

I know the Ultra S20 has some camera focus issues.
I have the S20 plus and it is a great phone. The Note line is always a feature or 2 richer than the S models. But if you're comparing getting the S20 plus or wait for regular Note 20, not the plus, then I say get the S20 plus.
Some people are big on brand new. I don't mind getting phone 2nd hand. I purchased my s20 plus for $700 + tax. And I kept my Pixel 3 instead of a trade in.

DON'T BUY EXYNOS S20 LINE MODELS! DON'T DO IT. YOU WILL REGRET IT. btw the offer you got isn't special or cheap.

That's not going away anytime soon! Unless you step things down a bit.
The Note 20, if it uses the same lens as the S20, will have the same focal uniformity issues up close simply due to the physics in way a lens works. Autofocus has been resolved to acceptable performance with the latest update IMHO.
Eventually, the multi lens fad will pass and they will focus (no pun intended!) on single sensor/lens performance. A 16MP sensor @ f1.2 would be great.

Well you guys were right About galaxy series I just used 20.min and go back to my pixel 3 xl again. Today I am sending back to Samsung.
According me :
Great screen
Fast smooth experience but
So many bulky apps working under ground
Samsung store it all about for kids
pixel phones pure Android experience
And there is no direct casting from your phone unless if u are usingnetflix, YouTube etc, maybe I could not find it
In addition I saw slightly green line on edges
It is still so good for many users after pure Android experience it is hard to go back multimedia phone for me
I will check note 20; iPhone 12 or pixel 5 in the future.
I always admired of Sony phone however there no iOS support.
In the past I used Huawei p20 pro, xz premium iPhone 7,8 blackberry ,Samsung s10,20plus note,9 , even Nokia's nexus
In my experience my long run phones either note series, Google phones or iPhone.
However thank all y'all spending time and helping me.

Why would you buy a device before you tried it out? You could have tested a demo before you spent all that money. Plus, you paid more than you should have, the S20 Plus 128Gb with Snapdragon SoC is available on eBay for $825.00 without all the Carrier Bloatware. Also, why do you think the Note Series will function better than the S20 Plus? They almost identical, same UI besides the S-Pen, Same SoC, a bigger battery and different camera won't overcome the issues you have with the S20 Plus.

So I'm here asking about the question in the title
I want to know whether the kernel sources are released by OEM or not ?
And I'm getting this phone for only 15K INR
Is there any android developement like custom roms possible on this phone ?? OR should I buy redmi note 4 which has a better support ??
I don't want to switch devices for few more years
Please help me here
That are two phones hard to compare.. snapdragon 820 vs 625, 5inch vs 5.5inch etc, fingerprint on front vs on the back etc... how should we know what you need or want?
Both are great..
And for custom roms > how about if you look into the roms, kernels, recovery.. section? Dont be so lazy man

Warning: Very long story
My purchase of 3Gb variant of Redmi Note 4 was final but could not buy it (everything happens for a good) as delivery was not available by flipkart in my area. I was very sad and finally decided to buy a new, seal packed Redmi Note 3 from ebay at Rs. 9300 (Rs. 10400 was listed price, after applying coupons it became Rs. 9300) as it had performance and recently got franco kernel too (previously available only on Pixels, Nexus and One Plus devices). Finally saw Lenovo Z2 Plus on Snapdeal for Rs. 12000 and immediately purchased it (was hesitant at first reading reviews on Amazon but could not resist SD 820 at this price).
The phone is great, no heating issues and was much better than Redmi Note 3 (Screen quality, camera quality, general performance, looks) when compared side by side as my friend had one. Battery is also good, I get 5-6 hours Screen on time on 4G network with hotspot on and around 7-8 hours SoT on WiFi.
About development, both devices have great roms but Redmi Note 4 has no custom kernel as kernel source codes are not released currently but may or will get them in future when sources are released. Also if you want to be like a trickster and change TV channels of any TV in lobby of any hospital/Hotel, go for Xiaomi phones as they have IR blaster.
The Z2 Plus recently got official Nougat whereas Redmi Note 3 and 4 are still on Marshmallow but that does not matter as you are planning to use a custom rom and all three have 7.1.2 Nougat custom roms.
Conclusion
If you like very good developer support with some good performance, go for Redmi Note 3
If you like development with superior battery life, go for Redmi Note 4
If you want a phone with sheer raw power and the one that does not slow down even after 3 years and a great value for money and brag among friends, go for Z2 Plus.
Currently Z2 Plus is available at Rs.13000 at Snapdeal but wait for amazon sale on 11th, previously at an Amazon sale, it was available for 12K and if you get any bank discount (sometimes 10 to 15% off on SBI Card etc during sale), you can get it for 10-11K too.
Go for the black one, it looks very good
Hope this helps
You can also watch reviews and comparison of phones on youtube for better decisions.

I am absolutely agree with hp5942's statements. Development for Z2 is only growing, it will be awesome in a few months. Note 3 has one of the best dev support and will have it for a long time. Note 4 is better looking and feeling than Note 3, but it is less speedy device.

My friend still has no performance issues with his Mi4 (SD 800, flagship at that time) even after 2.5 years.

Why do you guys confuse much. Its good phone for the price. For 13k you are getting snap 820
Its like for the price of audi you getting buggati
Why to get confused. There are minor software hiccups. As you are familiar with xda you can always use custom roms
Hardware wise there are no issues. Build quality is damm solid. I have thrashed my phone many times, but it still survives.
Back glass is lil fragile.

I bought z2 plus(4,64gb) @ 9.5k from amazon
(Actually 11k - 1.5k cashback)
So wait for any amazon sale
May be buy it on Diwali
For those not used to pimp their phones (unlock bootloader, flash rom etc...), i think Zuk Z2 is not a good choice as the original version is not perfect. But if you like to flash and customize your phone, so yes, 10 times yes,it's a very good phone (have it for almost 1 year and still happy with it).

Who's getting it? And what are you coming from?

I'll start. I have a P30 Pro. Was thinking of going for this phone. Its very nice looking indeed. But as hard as it is I'll hold off.
I need a new chipset not just a current one overclocked.
Coming from Note 9 just needed an upgrade.
[Samsung Galaxy Note 10+]
Hi, coming from Samsung Galaxy Note 9, just pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, 12gb, 512gb. Media Markt told me the phone would come on the 23 August. Portugal.
All the best to you.
I am going to stick with my One Plus 7 pro. 90hz display and 12gb of ram. Timely updates and super fast OS.

Have to agree. No point if you have this already.
Note 10 is a bigger s10 overclocked. With a pen and better camera I'm sure. Just not enough
But Jesus look how pretty is it!
Eventually i will get one, as soon as the prices drop a bit..... My Note8 just came from warranty and is new, although i bought it almost 2 years ago.
Coming from an almost complete "note" usage i am looking for a reason to buy this one...... Don't mind cameras i need it for work and seems that all is the same but the looks and processor speed......
Coming from PT where these "toys" are too expensive....

I ordered the Note 10+ in Aurora Glow last night.
Same ordered aura white in the morning:laugh:
Got $600 for my Note9 plus another $200 store credit. Ordered a 512GB Note10+. I wonder why that size is only available in two colors (black and white). Could it be ceramic back like the S10+? That would be awesome if true.
I'm disappointed that the Samsung rugged case isn't going to ship until after Labor Day. Looks like I will have to pick up a cheap TPU in the meantime. Amazon has a bunch in stock now. Of course I'm not going to get the case that would be here tomorrow and have to wait two weeks to put a phone in it.

Curious about One Plus 7.. having stayed on Samsung scene for almost 8 years... I'm too used to rooting/tweaking/flashing etc.
How does the One Plus 7 stand regarding those? How is the dev. community for it? Do you know?

I was Note fan and never swayed until the note 7. I bought an axon 7 to replace the note 7. Went back to note with the note 8 cause of the great price they gave the note 7 owners. Sold note 8 a year later and got the OnePlus 6T. Sold the 6T and now have the 7 Pro. Let me tell you I have gotten around 6 firmware updates since the phone came out. Constantly improving the phone with the latest August security patch. The phone is just plain fast and beautiful. The dev community is very active and the phone is simple to root and flash roms. It has a 6.7 inch screen with quad hd.
Coming from a Nexus 6p that I ruined while changing my battery for the third time a few weeks ago (totally my fault). Using a Samsung SM-T825 and a novelty android small phone
(but with security updates) while waiting for my 10+. My last note was a Note 4 (bricked a few years ago, yeah I am kind of clumsy) . I did buy a Huawei mate 20 pro end of last year but got a refund due to the screen turning green.
I will be visiting often for accessories reviews and advices.
Giving up my AT&T note 9 for the note 10+ 512g aura black. Placed order through bestbuy this morning for a better deal. Sort of mad that at&t didn't include aura blue in the line up. Smh
trading in S10+, used to have a note and missed the pen. Ordered through Samsung as they are having a trade-in special & other free goodies.
Ordered the Note 10+, 256 GB, Aura Glow through Best Buy. Trading in my S10+.

The Aura Glow is different so I decided to give it a go, worst case scenario I'll dbrand skin it. Not to mention it'll be in a Pitaka case so there's that as well.
I completely agree with you about the OnePlus 7 Pro, ok but nothing to exciting. While I like the screen size of the 7 Pro the in hand feel of it killed it for me. It's a little to thick and heavy for my taste. The Note 10+ has a bigger screen, lighter and thinner than the 7 Pro.

Same here, just because for $540 (after tax) I've got the Note 10+ trading back the note 9, and extra (free) wireless charger and a battery pack.
The reason to spend the money - one stupid reason (on top of the fair price). I have the Samsung watch and I travel 10 days per month, and sometimes forget my watch charger.. What makes my watch a wearable brick.
I hope I won't get disappointed with reception. If it is par with the note 9, I will be a happy camper.

this phone vs pixel 4xl?

Just wondering if anyone else was struggling with the decision to get the 70 versus the 4XL. I am on Verizon, grandfathered unlimited data. All I care about is having an unlocked phone. I'm currently on the Pixel 2 XL, and ready for an upgrade, but not sure which direction to go. What are your guys thoughts? All I really care about is having a fast phone with a good battery

Honestly if camera is super important to you, go pixel hands down. If you just wanna be a spec fanatic, OnePlus.
Personally, I'll always go pixel simply because specs aren't everything. Just something to brag about.
Pixel 4 will have the better camera. At least this time they're also going with 6gb ram. Just comes down to pricing.

Camera on pixel will be sublime. Perfect colour reproduction.
But battery (so long as you can deactivate ,90hz)
Will be superior on the OnePlus.

The McLaren edition will have 12GB I'd assume and that will affect battery life, complete overkill, 6GB is probably more than enough, 8GB is the sweet spot and honestly the most I'd get in a phone for now at least, unless the battery was substantially larger and apps actually utilized it which at the moment they just don't.
If it's also 5G then it'll greatly affect battery life.
The range on 5G and ability to pass through walls etc is awful, so if the phone is forcing power to the antenna to get a good connection your battery will deplete a lot faster.
4G and 8GB is perfect.

What phone is everyone coming from?

I've been using a Pixel 2 XL since February 2018 but it's starting to show its age a bit performance wise. I've replaced the battery back in October as it was getting worn out. Here's to hoping that the S20 Ultra camera will be as great as the camera in my 2 XL.

I have the Note 10+, and you get used to the hole punch quickly. With it centered there isn't a lot that normally displays there and even in full screen video it isn't large enough to obscure anything from what I've seen.
Galaxy s8 here that is really showing it's age.
Note 8 since launch day that has 2 cracks in the glass. Been off the charger for only 5hrs and was already down to 53%. So I have a 5000mah battery case just to barely make it through the day. I'm over the camera quality. I'm very excited to say the least. Wife and daughter have the s10+, so I've been itching bad for an upgrade.
Huawei mate 20x . So downgrading on size but excited for 120hz display

Also on OnePlus 7 Pro. Hardware is nice and all but parts of software, like for basic stuff like calls and messaging, are simply stupid. Talking about software, OnePlus really can't come close to Samsung.

Xperia XZ2. Switching from sony for my primary device, for the first time ever.
Upgrading from a Note 8 that 2.5 years old. So definitely a huge upgrade for me. But not sure why some people are willing to lose so much money trading in a Note 10 or S10+ for an Ultra. Crazy unless you got money to burn and gotta have the best.

- Thinner

- Lighter
Why I like Samsung S21 Ultra?
- Cheaper (Exynos versión $877 12gb - 256Gb) divided at 9 monthly fees without interest.
- Better camera
Which one will you buy if they were at the same price?
Do you know if Samsung launch faster updates than OP or is it the opposite?
Thanks and sorry for my english
I had both in my cart and chose 9pro. I paid 800 usf for it. The s21 ultra is 1200 usd. The 9 pro has the same processor and everyone talked crap about the camera, but I think it's pretty good. They have same 5g processor. Samsung has micro sd slot which I got away from years ago. Samsungs touchwiz is something I don't care for after having 2 phones a s7edge and a note 10 very laggy(uses a lot of resources). If you want the best camera on a phone buy a nokia or Google phone.
I have also owned a 6t and 7tpro mclaren version phones.
At the current prices, I'd take the S21 Ultra. Having used both Samsung and OnePlus phones, I think Samsung provides a more polished product. I'm not saying that the OnePlus 9 Pro is a bad phone, but it doesn't seem like a good value compared to the competition at the moment. Heck, a brand new OnePlus 8 Pro is $599 through OnePlus right now and has virtually all the same qualities. The reports of overheating and unstable software don't help the 9 Pro either. If it gets a discounted price in the coming months, then it may be a more compelling option.
I'd probably take the Ultra. It's a better device all around, but to me it's a bit TOO big. Updates will be faster with the Ultra, Samsung has consistently been putting out monthly updates since the S10. The device will also be supported longer, if you keep your phones for a few years.
OP 9 pro. In my country Samsung sells s21 ultra with exynos processors So no thanks.. If it would have snapdragon I would've choosen s21 ultra
The main complaint about the Exynos is that it gets hotter. Well, the OP9 Pro overheats anyways, so there's no real difference. Oh, and people complain about the Exynos being 0.0xxx% slower, like they could actually feel the difference.

Yeah I hear the exynos is just about as good as this year's 888 and it's almost impossible to tell the difference.

I haven't had any problems with overheating of the OnePlus 9 pro yet. In what situations should this happen?
Both the Exynos and SD888 run hot and throttle. Here is a pretty good breakdown and comparison of the 2 chips: https://www.anandtech.com/show/16463/snapdragon-888-vs-exynos-2100-galaxy-s21-ultra
More worrisome for the Exynos is its weird clock behaviour, with the new chip really struggling in maintaining its peak frequencies other than for very brief moments – the Snapdragon 888’s X1 core had no such issues. My Exynos S21 Ultra chip bin was quite terrible here, but the better silicon on my second S21 doesn’t improve things too much either.

Basically, the Exynos can run as well as the SD888 in terms of peak performance, but that's partially because Samsung is running it overclocked and it gets HOT. Yes, the SD888 gets hot and throttles, but the Exynos gets hotter sooner, drains battery, and the GPU just sucks (and equally power hungry).
Thanks to everybody for your help. I've decided by S21 Ultra because of the price. Here un Argentina i can get it for less money.
I'm a Oneplus follower but this time, my wallet choose.
As a person that has owned an S21 Ultra since it was launched in the USA, I would choose the OP 9 Pro. I have just ordered one through tmobile and can't wait!
Personally, the S21 Ultra was primarily used for youtube vanced, browsing, and as a business cell. I highly value the software and prefer OP's Oxygen OS over OneUI, hence why I'm replacing the S21 Ultra.
Both phones are great and you can't go wrong with either, but software matters the most to me and I didn't think I'd miss OOS as much as I have.
I know OP already made the decision.
Here in the US the OnePlus is cheaper.
I found a mint 9 Pro for $900 with the original receipt and unused buds.
The S21 ultra is about $1000. But can't be rooted unless I spend $150 for a bootloader unlock. That makes it more than $1300 because I have to pay tax on the phone.
Too rich for my blood.
Samsung with Exynox, NO !
Samsung full of Bloatware! Bleah! Oxygen is one of the cleanest Android OS.
I saw many reviews about camera with S21ultra & OnePlu 9 pro. S21 is better, but not by a lot.
I prefer the the OnePlus here in the usa and the Global 7pro, 8pro, 9pro have worked out well for me with T-Mobile!
Actually I prefer the camera of the OP9 Pro over the Mi11 Ultra and the S21 Ultra. The other two might be better for you if you need 10x Zoom very often.
OS and updates? Samsung has quick updates as well, but Oxygen OS from OnePlus is just so clean and close to stock imo. Xiaomis MIUI is pretty good as well - though I had so many bugs on my mi10 pro which haven't been fixed. And they don't update that often or the OTA doesn't work that well - I was on October 2020's android security version until April 2021.
Charging and battery: OnePlus and Xiaomi charge much faster than Samsung. Battery life is probably really close between those 3.
Rooting the Samsung will break Knox with all it's downsides. A lot depends on your preferences but I would go with the OnePlus.

9 pro over exynos s21U. Coz exynos sux, oneui is another meh. software is pretty meh on samsung after android 11. If you getting sd s21U then maibe. If you more concerned on the camera than anything else then go for samsung
Don't Leave out the charging speed.
50w wireless.., not many phones does that with cable plug in.
65w cable charging, is even faster. Awesome.
