Question OP 9 Pro or S21 Ultra? - OnePlus 9 Pro

Hi, I want to update my 6T.
I don't know which one is better, OP 9Pro or S21 Ultra?
What do yo guys think?
Why I like OP 9 Pro?
- Snapdragon 888
- Thinner
- It comes with super charger
- Lighter
Why I like Samsung S21 Ultra?
- Cheaper (Exynos versión $877 12gb - 256Gb) divided at 9 monthly fees without interest.
- Better camera
Which one will you buy if they were at the same price?
Do you know if Samsung launch faster updates than OP or is it the opposite?
Thanks and sorry for my english

I had both in my cart and chose 9pro. I paid 800 usf for it. The s21 ultra is 1200 usd. The 9 pro has the same processor and everyone talked crap about the camera, but I think it's pretty good. They have same 5g processor. Samsung has micro sd slot which I got away from years ago. Samsungs touchwiz is something I don't care for after having 2 phones a s7edge and a note 10 very laggy(uses a lot of resources). If you want the best camera on a phone buy a nokia or Google phone.
I have also owned a 6t and 7tpro mclaren version phones.

At the current prices, I'd take the S21 Ultra. Having used both Samsung and OnePlus phones, I think Samsung provides a more polished product. I'm not saying that the OnePlus 9 Pro is a bad phone, but it doesn't seem like a good value compared to the competition at the moment. Heck, a brand new OnePlus 8 Pro is $599 through OnePlus right now and has virtually all the same qualities. The reports of overheating and unstable software don't help the 9 Pro either. If it gets a discounted price in the coming months, then it may be a more compelling option.

I'd probably take the Ultra. It's a better device all around, but to me it's a bit TOO big. Updates will be faster with the Ultra, Samsung has consistently been putting out monthly updates since the S10. The device will also be supported longer, if you keep your phones for a few years.

OP 9 pro. In my country Samsung sells s21 ultra with exynos processors So no thanks.. If it would have snapdragon I would've choosen s21 ultra

The main complaint about the Exynos is that it gets hotter. Well, the OP9 Pro overheats anyways, so there's no real difference. Oh, and people complain about the Exynos being 0.0xxx% slower, like they could actually feel the difference.

Yeah I hear the exynos is just about as good as this year's 888 and it's almost impossible to tell the difference.

I haven't had any problems with overheating of the OnePlus 9 pro yet. In what situations should this happen?

Both the Exynos and SD888 run hot and throttle. Here is a pretty good breakdown and comparison of the 2 chips: https://www.anandtech.com/show/16463/snapdragon-888-vs-exynos-2100-galaxy-s21-ultra
More worrisome for the Exynos is its weird clock behaviour, with the new chip really struggling in maintaining its peak frequencies other than for very brief moments – the Snapdragon 888’s X1 core had no such issues. My Exynos S21 Ultra chip bin was quite terrible here, but the better silicon on my second S21 doesn’t improve things too much either.

Basically, the Exynos can run as well as the SD888 in terms of peak performance, but that's partially because Samsung is running it overclocked and it gets HOT. Yes, the SD888 gets hot and throttles, but the Exynos gets hotter sooner, drains battery, and the GPU just sucks (and equally power hungry).

Thanks to everybody for your help. I've decided by S21 Ultra because of the price. Here un Argentina i can get it for less money.
I'm a Oneplus follower but this time, my wallet choose.

As a person that has owned an S21 Ultra since it was launched in the USA, I would choose the OP 9 Pro. I have just ordered one through tmobile and can't wait!
Personally, the S21 Ultra was primarily used for youtube vanced, browsing, and as a business cell. I highly value the software and prefer OP's Oxygen OS over OneUI, hence why I'm replacing the S21 Ultra.
Both phones are great and you can't go wrong with either, but software matters the most to me and I didn't think I'd miss OOS as much as I have.

I know OP already made the decision.
Here in the US the OnePlus is cheaper.
I found a mint 9 Pro for $900 with the original receipt and unused buds.
The S21 ultra is about $1000. But can't be rooted unless I spend $150 for a bootloader unlock. That makes it more than $1300 because I have to pay tax on the phone.
Too rich for my blood.

Samsung with Exynox, NO !
Samsung full of Bloatware! Bleah! Oxygen is one of the cleanest Android OS.
I saw many reviews about camera with S21ultra & OnePlu 9 pro. S21 is better, but not by a lot.

I prefer the the OnePlus here in the usa and the Global 7pro, 8pro, 9pro have worked out well for me with T-Mobile!

Actually I prefer the camera of the OP9 Pro over the Mi11 Ultra and the S21 Ultra. The other two might be better for you if you need 10x Zoom very often.
OS and updates? Samsung has quick updates as well, but Oxygen OS from OnePlus is just so clean and close to stock imo. Xiaomis MIUI is pretty good as well - though I had so many bugs on my mi10 pro which haven't been fixed. And they don't update that often or the OTA doesn't work that well - I was on October 2020's android security version until April 2021.
Charging and battery: OnePlus and Xiaomi charge much faster than Samsung. Battery life is probably really close between those 3.
Rooting the Samsung will break Knox with all it's downsides. A lot depends on your preferences but I would go with the OnePlus.

Depends. Are you an Android lover or a nonce. ?

In my country
S21U no warranty imported Snap888 (256GB not 128GB) = 1,014 USD
S21U retail 1yr warranty Exynos = 826 USD
OP9P no warranty imported RAM8/256GB = 839 USD
OP9P retail soon (nearly into the market)

9 pro over exynos s21U. Coz exynos sux, oneui is another meh. software is pretty meh on samsung after android 11. If you getting sd s21U then maibe. If you more concerned on the camera than anything else then go for samsung

Don't Leave out the charging speed.
50w wireless.., not many phones does that with cable plug in.
65w cable charging, is even faster. Awesome.

Worth upgrading to S9+ form S7 Edge?

Hi!
As you saw from my question I am wondering whether it's worth upgrading to S9+ from S7 edge or should I wait for the Note 9 or even S10? What do you think?
Also.. Will there be good development on this device? :fingers-crossed:

Well it was well worth going from my s7 edge to s8 plus so yes of course going to s9 plus is worth it.
sent from my Pixel 2 XL or Note FE
i'll be upgrading to the s9+ from the s7e, mostly because my plan runs out conveniently on the 15th.
i'm not as pumped by the actual phone yet, but the size, screen and 6gb RAM and battery bump in the s9+ looks good and it will be great... until March 15th in 2020 when i'll get the Note 12 / T2 / S11 Ultra, whatever that flagship is.
I had thought about the iPhone X/ Razer phone, and in an ideal world, i'd get either one instead, but the razer is not available locally and getting updates or repair/support for grey market phones is abominable in ... Australia.
(And, i'm not really invested in apple tech, despite having a now 5 year old ipad, and an iphone 4 that technically still works ... and basically everyone i know, has iPhone or Samsung)
s9 arrives later in the week, the s7 edge is still a perfectly great phone, until my daughter smashed it.
any excuse to get a new gadget.
Rom advice? I see Alexandr is makiung dev base, may stick with that stock feel, yet the freedom to use magisk modules. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
S7 and S9 are great ,but i prefer the S9 .
It's all worth it .

The Note 8 because the S9 with the 9810 performs like a slightly better Exynos 8895 with worse efficiency. Although the Note 8 has no project treble. If you get the Note 8 you would have to rely on Lineage.
Read this article about the Exynos 9810 and the s9:
https://www.anandtech.com/show/12520/the-galaxy-s9-review/8
I would say import the G9600 which is the the Snapdragon s9 which has a boot loader which can be unlocked although the development is dead but at least you can get TWRP and flash a GSI and get project treble.
Or get the Exynos s9+ bigger battery and it performs like a slightly better Note 8 with about the same battery life/SOT.
I would stay far away from the regular s9 because a lot of people are reporting bad battery life because of the Exynos 9810. Either pay a bit more and get the s9+ with the Exy 9810 or get the Note 8 and rely on Lineage. Btw I have the s9+ Exynos.
Thanks ??? awesome details!!! Thanks a lot for all this informations.
All plus variant are too expensive here.
Note 8 has no stereo speaker too :/
I found a MI mix2s for 350$ I think I'll go with this.

Buying Samsung Galaxy S9+ instead of Xiaomi Mi 9?

Hello!
In few days I would like to buy a new phone. Right now, in my country, there are massive price drops of SGS9+/ Note 9 prices. So SGS9+ costs 536€ and Note 9 699€.
As You might know, Mi 9 costs about 466€ (6/128 variant). The thing is, that Mi 9 is almost unpossible to get from official distribution. There are only few pieces avalaible for sale every week.
In my opinion Mi 9 only advantages are newest Snapdragon 855, and better look (personal opinion), and under display fingerprint scanner. Camera without OIS is a little bit worrying.
My biggest concerns about SGS9+/Note 9, is Exynos which in benchmarks is slightly slower than Snap 845. But on the other hand I think that camera would be better, and despite being released over year ago (SGS9+), it still can show off with the new technologies.
If Samsung, then question is SGS9+ or Note 9? Note 9 has larger battery, stylus (sounds like a good idea, but in practice can't say how often I would use it) and a little bit telephoto camera. Would You say that it is worth to pay more?
I would like to hear your opinions regarding Samsung devices, and maybe even some of You has comparision to Mi 9
I will be grateful for any recommendations.
Thanks!

It depends on your usage, if you want a phone with stereo speakers, headphone jack and SD card slot, with higher screen resolution and higher front facing video resolution, and if you care about a more secure iris/face unlock and more reliable physical fingerprint scanner, go for the S9+/Note 9 (depends if you need an S pen). Otherwise go for the Xiaomi Mi 9. Personally, I prefer Samsung's software though. But since you can pay 699€, I recommend you to pay a few more and get the S10e, or wait for the S10 price to drop, it will be much better than the Mi 9...

I'd prefer Samsung, they have a better track record, especially on the security and spyware department.
Since you don't have access to the Galaxy so plus with the snapdragon variant that equals to worst camera and battery (I mean on snapdragon you are gonna be able to use the GCam mods with great alogirthm for Better photos, you can use the wide lens camera, better portait pictures etc! And the battery in my experience of the s9 (not the s9+ is just fine I am able t get 2:30hrs of sot time per charge in full HD )

Better wait for the note 20... galaxy s20 is a error almost at the level of note 7. A false start for Samsung.
Anyway if you prefer s20 plus after seeing Note20, at that time it will cheaper like always happens.

I know the Ultra S20 has some camera focus issues.
I have the S20 plus and it is a great phone. The Note line is always a feature or 2 richer than the S models. But if you're comparing getting the S20 plus or wait for regular Note 20, not the plus, then I say get the S20 plus.
Some people are big on brand new. I don't mind getting phone 2nd hand. I purchased my s20 plus for $700 + tax. And I kept my Pixel 3 instead of a trade in.
DON'T BUY EXYNOS S20 LINE MODELS! DON'T DO IT. YOU WILL REGRET IT. btw the offer you got isn't special or cheap.

That's not going away anytime soon! Unless you step things down a bit.
The Note 20, if it uses the same lens as the S20, will have the same focal uniformity issues up close simply due to the physics in way a lens works. Autofocus has been resolved to acceptable performance with the latest update IMHO.
Eventually, the multi lens fad will pass and they will focus (no pun intended!) on single sensor/lens performance. A 16MP sensor @ f1.2 would be great.

Well you guys were right About galaxy series I just used 20.min and go back to my pixel 3 xl again. Today I am sending back to Samsung.
According me :
Great screen
Fast smooth experience but
So many bulky apps working under ground
Samsung store it all about for kids
pixel phones pure Android experience
And there is no direct casting from your phone unless if u are usingnetflix, YouTube etc, maybe I could not find it
In addition I saw slightly green line on edges
It is still so good for many users after pure Android experience it is hard to go back multimedia phone for me
I will check note 20; iPhone 12 or pixel 5 in the future.
I always admired of Sony phone however there no iOS support.
In the past I used Huawei p20 pro, xz premium iPhone 7,8 blackberry ,Samsung s10,20plus note,9 , even Nokia's nexus
In my experience my long run phones either note series, Google phones or iPhone.
However thank all y'all spending time and helping me.

Why would you buy a device before you tried it out? You could have tested a demo before you spent all that money. Plus, you paid more than you should have, the S20 Plus 128Gb with Snapdragon SoC is available on eBay for $825.00 without all the Carrier Bloatware. Also, why do you think the Note Series will function better than the S20 Plus? They almost identical, same UI besides the S-Pen, Same SoC, a bigger battery and different camera won't overcome the issues you have with the S20 Plus.

Honor is soon release the Honor X20 Max on 7,2inch.
Its a mixed mid and top ranger.
I will for sure try it out.
I tried Samsung s21 ultra which i sold after 1 month.
Then i bought the xiaomi mi 11 ultra and a brand new Chinese version of mate 20x with a global rom and 8gb 256gb.
I still got both.
I like mi11u better vs S21u, but still the display is not big enough for me, so i hope for the Honor x20 max.

Yes its slated to be released this month. Unfortunately according to some news speculations it will come in a 20:9 aspect ratio. If thats indeed true you can forget about buying it. Narrow phones are s***. You and I are in the same boat when it comes to wide screens which we enjoy.
I really hope reports of the x20 max's aspect ratio are false and they decided to stick to the traditional 19:9 typified on last year's x10 max. If not I'll stick to my 20x for sure or possibly switch to the note 20 ultra. I really hate narrow phones.
