Active 2 Heart Rate green light not turning off - Samsung Galaxy Watch

Hi,
I'm having an issue with the hr sensor green light coming once in a while for a long time (disturbs mainly at night but is happening during the day too).
I have put both stress and heart rate in Samsung health to manual. I've also uninstalled watchmaker (as I thought it might do independent tests).
But non of the above helped.
I have also reviewed the next thread but I couldn't understand what is accu, and this didn't help either.

I had this problem when I first set up the watch. I found a reboot cured the problem. Hope that helps.

Screen brightness has gone down...

Everything was fine. I had the brightness set to 60%, which was reasonably bright for me. Retrieved the phone from the table to place a call and realized the screen was looking dim. I thought perhaps I'd accidentally turned on Auto Brightness, but I realized it wasn't the case. I restarted the phone, but the problem still persisted. I did a factory reset; still the same. I reflashed the firmware, but saw no resolution to the issue. Incidentally, after the flash and the subsequent setup, I tried to increase the brightness, but the phone refused to permit it, with a message about some heating issue. I was able to do so several seconds later, however, and while there have been no more "heat" warnings, the phone's brightness hasn't been the same. I seem to have lost about 20%: what I had at 60%, I have the same level of brightness now at 80%. And the maximum brightness, on the same token, isn't the same as it was earlier. I'd appreciate any suggestions. If any of you have faced a similar problem and had a found a solution to it, do let me know.
weird ... Guarantee if still possible.

That's pretty encouraging...or is it? Nevertheless, would've appreciated some solution, but it looks like I'm going to have to make that trip to the service centre.

I saw in a review before i bought mine that if it heats up the brightness of the screen is auto. lowered in order to try to keep a resonable temperture. But nothing about your simptoms. Did you try a different kernel here on the forum or to reflash the stock kernel ?

I've an LG Optimus G too.
It can happen two things:
First, the phone takes down the brightness when the temperature is too high, it happen automatically.
Two: Auto brightness is enabled. Then, the phone uses front camera to see how much ambient light are everytime, then it go up and down.
You're talking about the first case, so charge the battery 100% and then unplug it and let them alone for some minutes in order to leave the temperature going down. Then go to setings, screen, and disable smart screen snd auto brightness.
Try it for some time and send us your experience! =D

There is ambient light sensor near proximity sensor,camera is not used for automatic brightness.
He can disable temperature warning with Optimus G Tweaker which can be found in Play Store.
He must be rooted firs,he can do that easily with framaroot app.

:good: Thats right, in the opposite of the front camera you can find the proximity sensor and the brightness sensor, if you have eye-recognizement enabled in block screen options, then i think it uses the front camera for both things (brightness and eye-reco.).
Near the front camera it only has notification led.
I'm root, but i dont know if someone want to desable temperature warning... it can be... destructive! LoL

New Moto 360 battery died after 3 hours!

I've just changed from a Gear Live to a Moto 360 and after charging and syncing the battery died after three hours! Horrendous. Someone please advise! My gear Live with the same settings never did this.

I just received a Moto 360, and I know what you're going through!
I've gone from 3 charges a day previously, and today the watch is reporting I have almost 2 days remaining of charge.
First, FULLY cycle the battery. Leave it on the stand over night, run it until it turns off (if you're in a rush, ambient display, full brightness!). Then, full charge to 100% and leave it for an hour on the charger once it is full.
After that, do a factory reset on the watch (in settings). In Android Wear on phone, use the settings menu to resync your apps.
Do one more full discharge and full charge, and you should be sorted.
If not, use the Watch Battery section of the wear app to identify problem apps. Before today, I had never seen a "watch idle" entry, because an app was holding the watch awake. Identifying and removing that app has solved the rest of my problems.
Hope all this works. Some of the steps seem/may be unnecessary, such as the factory reset, multiple full charge cycles. However, I speak from experience that they do work!
Edit: Do be aware that the charge cycles where you do a factory reset and sync will drastically drain the battery, giving the illusion that the problem is still there.

So which app was that. Could you be specific please? I've had my 360 since October and had no issues with battery life until about 2 weeks ago and now it can't make it through a work shift all of a sudden. I've seen the 'watch idle' and the android guy with no title in the battery stats (as well as 'Bluetooth', which is mind blowing) as the main drains but I can't figure out which apps need the boot. Thanks in advance for the help, this problem is driving me crazy!
For me it was WeChat. I didn't even know it had a wear component. However, using Wear Battery Stats (available on Google Play) I noticed that there was a missing icon under "app activity" because it had updated that day. Tapping on this blank icon told me it was an activity belonging to WeChat. Using this, I deduced that was the problem app. Removing it seems to have solved my issue. I'd recommend a similar process, although I only found this app on that day due to it updating, so you may struggle. I get the impression the standard of coding of wear apps so far is pretty shoddy, I don't think not providing a package name and icon is unusual or specific to this one app.

Thanks for the reply. I don't use that specific app so no luck there. Good call on Wear Battery Stats though. I actually already use it but I'll use its stats this time instead of the standard wear stats. Thanks again, hopefully I can find the culprit, been having issues with my phone battery as well recently too.

fyi - i haven't tested this since it happened, but i disabled BT on my phone (just disabled in settings, without disconnecting the wtch first) and the watch drained itself in probably about 20-30 minutes. When I finally got it charged, it said BT took everything.
When I was having app issues, I also noticed very high bluetooth consumption. This could likely be a poorly coded app constantly trying to ping your phone for data and receiving no reply as it is not designed for a scenario where your phone is not connected.
The alternative of course is defective hardware.
A step I did not include in my original post was that I also clean-flashed a new rom on my phone. I felt this was due to a unique problem that I had (bluetooth problems in car also) but nonetheless thought I should mention that too. It's hard to be sure which step exactly cured my watch.
Same was happening to me, after several master resets and trial and error, i found that on my Samsung s7 edge i had my watch set as a trusted device so when it was connected to my phone my device would unlock without passcode. After turning that off, battery life is normal again, 24hrs plus. I think the constant bluetooth checking to see if it was attached drained battery extremely fast, hopefully this helps someone

Watch lags to display watch face when woken up

Since the 1.4 update my watch seems to lag displaying the watch face. It seems to happen more on certain stock faces than others.
I don't use always on mode so normally I would tilt my wrist and the normal face would show straight away. Now I've updated to 1.4 when I tilt my wrist the watch shows the ambient face for a second then the normal face.
I've tried unpairing the watch which now performs a factory restore as of 1.4 but this hasn't resolved the problem.
Has anyone else noticed this? I can get around the lag by having always on mode enabled but I don't know how this effects battery life.

I use always on in combination with SWApp Dark app to reduce brightness of ambient screen and getting 2 days out of battery for my usage.
Not a solution to your problem, though.
Yep, same here. It like wakes up in Ambient mode for about 1 to 2 seconds from time to time. Not always and I notice it a mix on some faces more than others.
My daily driver face does not do it but my secondary does it all the time.
This issue is happening to Moto 360 Gen 1 and 2 watches as well. Loads of people are experiencing it, hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Some newbie questions

Great forum, used it a lot with several devices.
So, I just got my Huawei watch and it is great!!
I do have some questions and tips that it will be great if you could help me with and I couldn't find answers to (sorry if its too long...)
1. Charging - what is the best way to charge it in order keep the battery life? like everyday few mins? everyday to full charge? let it drop until X%?
2. Always on option - is there an option to make it sleep at night? like I like this option very much, but as I don't sleep with it, I think it is better that the screen will be off at night.
in addition, do it harm the screen if always on working all the time?
3. Reset - do you reset the devise occasionally? like in purpose. I mean, on my Samsung S6 i know that once in a while I need to reset it to get a better performance.
3. Steps tracking - I was with the blue moon face and noticed that the steps showed is updated after few seconds, meaning that let's say I walked 50 steps, I stop, look at the watch, see the old steps count and after 2-3 seconds it is "jumped" and updated to the new count. in addition, if I stop, wait this few seconds and look at the watch, the count is ok - is this normal?
4. fitness app - which app to use with it that will sync the best with my phone? I installed Google fit and its not doing the job good. it looks like it count steps from the phone and not the watch, or mixed it together, In addition the distance and calories count is way not true, like it show the distance far low then the true (I updated my height and weight, over the app and on the watch) and the calories far more then it is.
In addition I installed the Huawei wear app and it looks much more accurate, showing the steps as the watch, and separate it to walking and steps, distance is accurate and calories as well. but the app doesn't look so good and looks like it missed a lot of other option.
In addition, I don't understand why the Huawei app on the watch is not showing distance but just steps count.
So, which app do you use? I basically want a nice app that will show my daily usage and if can, that will sync with the heart rate measure that i can take from time to time.
Can I sync it to S-Health that I have? or please recommend for another app.
5. Is there any nice watch face that shows not only the steps count but the distance as well?
6. Any other general recommendations?

Although the screen should not be harmed if always on is working all the time, at night you can use theater mode to turn your screen off without powering down the watch. The easiest method of going into theater mode is by quickly double pressing the button on the watch. You can also go into the pulldown menu from the main watchface and swipe over to theater mode to do the same thing. This can save some watch battery if you have the watch off the charger all night or if the battery is getting low during the day and you want to squeeze a few more hours out. It is meant for if you're in the movies and don't want the light from the watch screen to distract you or others from the movie. To exit theater mode and turn the screen back on, just single press the button on the watch.

From my experience, it is ok to factory reset your device once every two months or when you feel it has become quite sluggish although you mustn't expect the performance results to be visible right away after the reset. After the reset, all the applications from your phone will be resynced and the Google Play Services will begin to re-download its updates thus resulting in bad battery life and perfomance for that day until it settles down.

I always charge the watch to 100% and wait until it goes below 10% to charge it.
When I take the watch off my hand I also shut it down and power it on again when I put it on. This gives me about 3 days of using the watch without charging.

If you put your watch on a desk the display will completely turn off after about 10 minutes, even if you chose always on.
If there is no movement detected for a certain period of time, the display will switch off. This can sometimes also happen if you are in a very steady position. My watch turns occasionally off while I'm playing Playstation and holding the controller in the same position.

I noticed that but as inconsistent.
Sometimes it did it exactly as you describe and sometime not. left it on the desk, half an hour and still always on worked.
I don't know the exact algorithm behind it, but I'm pretty confident that the display will switch off sooner or later. I always put my watch on my desk at night and every morning the display is pitch black.

anybody having issues with HRM?

Anybody noticed the little green light on the back of the watch staying on, even when you take it off and pop it in charger?
Tried changing from frequent to never in settings but stayed on.
The only way I got it off was switching off the watch?
well, mine doesnt have green light on, it is on only when measuring heart rate, and even measuring, the green light will only keep blinking rapidly. So i couldn't find a moment where the green light would stay on, like your situation..
EDIT: I think this may be your problem. On your watch, go to Samsung Health app, scroll a little bit down, and click on the Heart Rate, on the right side, you will see 3 vertical dots, click on it. Then, click on the "Gear" icon to go to Heart Rate Settings. Change it to Frequent or Never.
I think you may had the Heart Rate Monitor set to Always measure, which is why the green light keep lighting up as it was measuring your heart rate every second.

No, as I said - Tried changing from frequent to never in settings but stayed on. Never used always since new.
One correction though, when I say it stays on, I meant it stays on flickering fast as if it's taking a reading.... it's just not on my wrist and won't stop flickering
sorry, I missed out your statement. It could be other apps installed is using your heart rate sensor.. or even watch faces. does resetting your watch to factory help? I guess that is the last resort
Just tried the reset I read about in another thread (after I backed up of course)
Not easy holding down power then multi pressing, pressing the back key to select reset from miniscule letter choices.
Anyway it seemed to reset, but not sure if it was the right one!
Didn't realise Samsung pay loses all your cards even with backup and restore. Today's steps also gone, all it 'knows' is my target

I am having the same issue and I have it set to never. I know it turns on for sleep monitoring but it seems to be on all night. I wonder if the last update messed with it.

Whenever the HRM breaks, the altimeter and barometer breaks too.
Reset from settings menu or doing hard reset with button will not fix this issue, but sometimes it fixed itself without me doing anything.
Only god knows what happen with this "perfect" tizen.
I tried a factory reset that didn't help at all. I then went into Best Buy and got a replacement watch because I have the protection plan and the watch did the same thing last night. I'm beginning to think it may be a glitch in the S Health app and not the watch
I think I figured out the issue for me. I noticed that in S Health on the watch, if you have REM sleep monitoring turned on the HRM has to be on too . There is actually a message to that effect on that setting. Sure enough, turned off REM sleep setting last night, no green light all night long.
Further update, if I turn off the REM sleep feature, it records me as restless all night - - no recorded sleep time

i am not experiencing issue with HRM but with having huge issues with altimeter - when running for an hour i am getting -500m or so indications. seems watch does not like sweat and humidity

I got mine RMAed, got the whole motherboard replaced and every single sensor works well with tizen 4.0.0.1 (for now) :highfive:
really? wow. are you running by any chance and you can share screen from s-health with altitude data?
