Possibility of using a K30 4g sim tray in a K30 5G making it Hybrid possible. - Redmi K30 5G Questions & Answers

Was thinking about wether or not you could use a hybrid sim as used in the K30 in the 5g 64gb version to enable the use of a micro sd would work. Does anybody have any experience with trying this please?

I.m going to buy one and see how it goes. I'll let you know once I receive it. Fingers crossed as the 64gb will run out soon. Cheers

bought a sim tray with sd hybrid slot in one side for the K30 4g and unfortunately as you may have guessed it is alot bigger than the original. I tried to put it in but still around 20mm stuck out.

Some tried this to see if is working to use card NM 128Go 90Mo/S Nano C
Nano Card??

A3 SM320FD ( Dual Sim ) 2017 hybrid slot sdcard and sim simultaneously

Hey guys,
did anyone tried to use 2 simcards and sdcard with the new 2017 A series phones? with the sim card cut and glued to sdcard method?
I tried it, but for some reasons the phone doesn't see the sim card glued to the sdcard. I tried the sim in another phone ( normal microsim slot ), and it works.
I was thinking, maybe Samsung disabled this feature from firmware... curios if anyone got it working.
Thanks.
did anyone tried?
sorry to bump an old thread - i have a 2017 A3 and have the same inquiry. did anyone try this and succeed ?

I think i read somwhere that the sim might be pushing the sd card away of the pins. Maybe adding tape over the top of the sd might resolve it.

I've tried nano sim card adapter/extender and it's work just fine. You can buy one of them at aliexpress.com :fingers-crossed:

I can confirm that it works! both, the 2 sims and the sd-card are working flawlessly!
The whole process might appear a bit risky but in my case it was absolutely easy and the result is great!
I´m using an SAMSUNG 64gb sd-card - i only sanded off the small upstand at the end of the card by using an nail-file.
For getting the chip out of the sim, a simple hair-dryer with approx. 60°-80°C worked!

I don't believe so. While the slot 2 is large enough for a micro Sim, I believe it wouldn't work. Slot 1 uses a nano Sim and slot 2 either a nano Sim or micro SD card. The SD card is oriented one direction and the Sim is oriented a different direction in the 2nd slot. I've never seen an adapter that would make the nano sit sideways in the 2nd slot and I doubt that old micro Sim would trim down that much without cutting into the metal. Surely your carrier will replace the old card with a newer all-in-one Sim.
Maybe the folks that have a dual sim phone will have more of an idea on this.
Hi @Tel864
I thought maybe something like that for S9:
https://www.amazon.com/UTP-Universal-Adapter-Extender-Android/dp/B07C7G35L6
where i can attach this in the sim slot and put my micro sim extern
any idea
thanks

I've never seen that. Something like that may work but I'm not sure about that one since it's for a different brand. When I searched for Galaxy S9 Sim card adapter in Google I did get lots of hits so you might try that. The one you posted is from a 3rd party seller so I'm not sure how easy it would be to return.
If you look at the different sizes of sim card, full sized, micro and nano have the same pin layout, it is just the plastic borders that differs. It could be a bit risky but you could cut the plastic edge off and make them into a nano sim without any trouble. I've done this and it works perfectly on my s9. Don't know if the chip under the contact pad is bigger on older sims though.

People have recently been reporting those adapters being recognised by the OS and rejected with a warning about a problem with the SIM Tray
Why not just get the SIM card replaced with a Nano SIM?
Or trim it yourself if the chip itself is small enough

Might work, but some of those old Sims had a larger contact area, especially those 16 year old ones like he has.

Dual sim and SD card simultaneously

I live in Europe and thinking about getting the G8s (we only have this version). Did anyone try to use the dual sim+sd card hack that you have on samsung phone? Cut a sim, polish it down and glue it to the bottom of an SD card. Then you can use two sims and and sd card simultaneously. One can also use a sim extender to achieve the same result.
Samsung implemented a software block on this since android pie, not sure if LG has the same.
Thanks in advance!
edit: it does work. Just tried on a phone.
Please post instructions so I may try this....
could you let me know how you got the DUAL SIM to work? what settings/software/app's you had to use? I'd like to make it work thru factory software if possible
THANKS,
MS

use 2 sims and micro SD card

any way to use 2 sims with micro sd card ?
From my understanding not on newer Samsung dual SIM phones.
You might be able to use one SIM and the e-SIM.
You can use eSIM plus nanoSIM on s20 ultra and that will leave the microSD available. A guy on you tube showing the eSIM setup details sort of confirmed this.
I will update when I get an Ultra.
But that seems to be one of the biggest features on s20 Ultra this eSIM support and microSD with two numbers
From what I've read it may depend on the carrier software/CSC, as to whether you can use another SIM card along with the eSIM? But I can't see anything confirming that so far besides user posts at some places which seem to be more speculation than anything.
All that I can confirm for sure is, that it is possible. My carrier (Telstra, Australia) offered me both a standard SIM or eSIM when ordering, in which they said I could use another SIM freely along with the eSIM (eSIM is what I chose) I hope that's applicable for all.
They talked about this on the Samsung Forums. The international version has a hybrid slot allowing 2 nano Sims or one nano sim and MicroSD. In the US version one nano sim and MicroSD. If you use the ESim and nano sim only one can be used at a time not both. Like you can't be calling on one and texting on another. At same time.
The ability to use only one line at a time is not particular to the eSIM. My Note 8 has two nanoSIM cards and same limitation applies. When I talk on one of the cards the other is disconnected. Data comes only on one of the cards. Indeed only one has 4g connection.
I suppose s20 have similar limitations. I think this is limit as there is only one radio.
The gain is that both SIM are registered in the network and both can receive calls or be used to make calls at a given point of time but not simultaneously.
In my case both cards go to the same operator. One is from work the other is my personal number.
It works on the EU model SM-988B/DS
One nanoSIM + eSIM + MicroSD works.
I got my S20 Ultra last night and now have 256GB storage 128 built-in and 128GB SD card.
Now I have to figure if UHS-II benefits me or I stay with slow big cheap UHS-I card. Perhaps I will go to 400GB card.

The good thing to know is that you can have both 2x sims card + a sd card even on a Global variant with only a single hybrid sim tray.
All you need is to be fearless, a candle and some glue
Used that method on mine, working like a charm.
Regards.
thx for tip?

I suppose you put the sdcard on top of the sim. How did they fit in though? The slot is quite thin.

Yes. I wont lie to you you kind of have to brute force it back inside, but it gets in and out in the end with some patience and some located strength (as long as you do not keep taking them in and out all the time it is ok).
To make it work you have to 'peal' the Sim chip off its plastic support. That's basically the trick. But that's an handy one.
What I wonder thought is if the Indian flavor of the phone with that extra dedicated Sim tray, has an hybrid tray bellow, meaning wondering if that trick could make them have 3x sims + 1x SD. I suppose not, but still curious.
