Note 20 Ultra has a secret 96hz display refresh rate - Here is how to enable it - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Themes, Apps, and Mod

Hi All,
Seems like Samsung has added some trick to their Note 20 Ultra, beside the Adaptive refresh option.
= Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a hidden 96Hz display mode=
Normally, adaptive refresh rate from display sesstings in Galaxy Note 20 Ultra allows the phone, based on the actual open application to refresh the screen from 1hz up to 120hz.
With this 96hz hidden option you can restrict the adaptive refresh rate to work from 1hz up to 96hz allowing your phone to prolong battery life.

{id=9, width=720, height=1600, fps=60.000004},
{id=10, width=720, height=1600, fps=48.0}]
everyone says it is working. check and comment.
cheers.

based on the latest battery comparations between Note 20 Ultra with 4500mha and S20 Ultra with its 5000mha battery, the Note 20 Ultra adaptive display refresh rate managed to have the same battery life as S20Ultra even though it is short with 500mha.
Enableling the hidden 96hz mode in FHD+, Note 20 Ultra battery life will be even longer.
Cheers.

thanks for the heads-up

Thank you for this

My phone is due arrival on 28th Aug. will try this first on new handset. Anyone confirm if it is working already on exenos

mine should arrive these days..waiting.. Mystic White..

I wish we could get the WQHD 1440 resolution with 120Hz refresh rate. Also I might be insane but playing subway surfers with dynamic refresh rate seems to make it go really junky, whereas on 60Hz it runs smooth just like my Note 10+. Really not sure what to think of this "adaptive" refresh rate.

Neato...I'll check this out.. thanks OP.

Anyone try this yet?

Yes. It says it's active once i press the quick settings icon. Not sure where to check or what app i need to confirm the fps change.

Thanks for the post. Seems like it's working. Testing with the testufo.com website seems to show 96hz refresh rate. Feel free to test it out yourself and post your results.

101% it will work and it will help the already awesome adaptive display option to work from 1hz to 96hz and not up to 120hz.
cheers.

is this accurate?
it showing 60Hz for my home LG 27" monitor.
yes, it' accurate. i just checked windows setting, it' showing 60Hz.
all these years, i been looking at 60Hz on home pc monitor.
is 120Hz just hype, over-rated?

Confirmed! This works!
120hz is not just hype.

It works..

question - if using the WQHD top mode this 96 rate will not work correct?

I also can't understand official's behavior.In order to improve battery life,He close full 90hz by system update。。
My Chinese rom black shark 3 also does not run at 90hz with it turned on. Not even the system ui runs at 90hz. I hope we figure out a way to force it.
Reading their advertising, it's only for gaming and video modes
I messaged black shark support and they said that they are considering a force 90hz mode. Fingers crossed for a future update.
Try this https://forum.xda-developers.com/black-shark-3/how-to/forcing-90hz-refresh-rate-to-apps-t4134965
I'd prefer a 30Hz option and save battery - why would reading pages on the internet 'improve' at 90Hz??

Adaptive power setting

What does it turn off? Does it turn off 120hz?
Sent from my SM-G988B using Tapatalk
Yeah, what I think it does is changes the hertz depending on how you use you phone, as well as some other things. Don't quote me on this, but its something I recall hearing in a video and I think this is that setting that applies the dynamic hertz.
I was using this setting before the 96hz tweak, it does not change the refresh rate even if the power mode enters into medium mode.
But you have to turn off 120hz if you manually toggle medium power savings mode.

Oh, so if you enable it you keep the 120 hertz and get to disable other things when changing the power profile e.g. like limiting the cpu. That's quite good, considering we want to keep the 120 and are okay disabling features somewhere else.

First switch to medium power mode, then enter the following commands through adb, you can maintain 120Hz + medium power mode
According to the finder, I ’m not sure if Adaptive has any effect
adb shell settings put secure refresh_rate_mode 2 (120Hz)
adb shell settings put secure refresh_rate_mode 1 (Adaptive)
adb shell settings put secure refresh_rate_mode 0 (60Hz)
I'm not rooted
If the adaptive setting maintains 120hz then I'm in , I'm assuming the posts above refer to non rooted phones as well

If there is a big saving in battery the person who developed the free app should be knighted

Samsung galaxy note 10 plus Refresh rate 90 120hz

Hi guys,
Simply question, IT is possible to change refresh rate or software overclock display to more Hz?
Or any APPS on this?
Unlock 90hz or 120hz anything else?
Thanks for answer
:good:

No, if it was the relevant option(s) would be visible and available to us on the phone.
Currently people are using activity launchers to run a menu option for the S20 that is hidden on the Note 10+. While it can be toggled it appears to not work at all on the Note 10+ due to hardware limitations.

Hi,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10/how-to/toys-oneui-2-1-update-t4077297
Tried the activity launcher and I assure 100% note 10+ locked to 60hz...
I installed the app and applied the setting as well. Not so much as a placebo effect. Checked at testufo and can confirm only 60hz. Is there anything useful anyone has discovered in this app?
The Problem will be the drivers for the display
To achieve more than 60hz you would have to create a custom resolution and refresh rate
Effectively overclocking the display
Anyone ever checked what resolution and refresh rate the Note 10+ can actually use, by running the shell command “dumpsys display,” in adb?
According to this article the setting option was a mistake.
https://piunikaweb.com/2020/04/07/s...-120hz-refresh-rate-but-dont-get-too-excited/
by the fact the display was launched as purely 60hz it is probably a hardware limitation.
LCD/LED/other panels are manufactured to work at a maximum speed, it will be hardware controlled through the display chips, so unless you can swap out the controller chip and the panel is actually capable of altering the individual points at that speed you are likely never getting past 60hz. so unless the hardware was designed for 120hz and Samsung chose to just massively underclock the screen (but why would they do that when it would have been a good brag?) there is likely no way past 60hz as since the change from CRT the only way to overclock a screen is if the screen is shipped underclocked by the manufacturer.
so the reason it doesn't show up in the standard settings without extra steps should tell you this option being there is a mistake of them not removing the setting deep enough in the software.

Chance to we have The screen refresh rate adaptive ???

Hi for all, as it says in the title is there any chance in any future OneUi update or some module / mode right here on xda to we have the screen refresh rate adaptive like note20/ultra series ??

It’s already adaptive they just phrased it differently.

You're using auto brightness?

yes auto brightness
Wish I could help, but I have the China dimensity 9000 version with no issues
asked vivo CN customer service, this is their refresh rate strategy for dark mode, so it wont be fixed, probably they have their reason behind for it
so its looks like
1) 1-120 wont work in dark mode theme
2) 1-120 wont work in low brightness
3) 10-120 work in 30%+ level
4) 1-120 work in 70% levels
If I set my refresh rate to 120hz should it stay there wherever I am or whatever I am doing woth my phone? Coz even in homescreen or using chrome it still goes down to 10.
