The fix I had was to flash the ablpiestockimg from the unlock bootloader page. You have to load the v35 engineering img first before you can flash the ablpiestock.img though. That should allow you to finally load the magisk prepatched img allowing you to root.

Hi, thank you for your work!
What's the procedure to get Magisk with root installed on my EU V40 with unlocked bootloader and Android 10? Thanks!

I have flashed android 10 on my 405ebw using lgup dual mode dev
How can i root&magisk?
Thanks!

can you provide a step by step guide?

Steps I took
If I did too many steps, sorry, but I couldnt move on to fastboot right away and overwrite the boot.img etc, so some of this is trial and error for me...
I was already rooted and I did with LGUP - Partition DL and skipped the ABL a and b and laf a and b.
Then I booted into 9008 (reboot with usb plugged in and holding vol - and power and tapping fast vol + until you hear it disconnect from your computer and go black screen) and cleared laf_a.
Then I rebooted to fastboot and ran "fastboot boot c:\adb\boot.img", where boot.img is your magisk kernel on your computer.
Then i rebooted and installed magisk manager, then I used magisk manager to install Magisk kernel.
After all that I did the magisk "GPay SQLite Fix", "MagiskHide Props Config", and "Google Dialer Framework" to fix google pay, my phone id, and be able to use google phone app. If any of these steps make no sense, I will try to break it apart more, but it was a couple weeks ago for me. And I wasn't ever able to get rid of the flag that comes up after boot by writing to the oem file, but it has no affect.
Thanks,
Andrew

Can I flash it without bootloader unlock?
Will it work on LG V405UA?

10.0.5 boot.img?

Hey all! I'm trying to root my OnePlus 7t but I'm on 10.0.5 stock and I can't find a patched boot.img, or even a stock one to patch in Magisk. I'm on the global variant. If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be grand. I have already read mostly all the posts...
I have the US version which I think is also the global version. Here's my patched boot.img for 10.0.5

Don't ask why the file sizes are so different. It just gets smaller for some reason after patching it in magisk.
I just booted with an older one and flashed the latest magisk

I would try fastboot boot before you use fastboot flash just to make sure that the device will boot successfully with the images. You should only need to fastboot boot magisk_patched.img, then open Magisk Manager and install Magisk by choosing the direct install option in the list. You only need the steps I mentioned to have root, and if you flash it to A and B at once you can get stuck in a bootloop. I had that happen at one point from flashing both partitions, and I dont recommend trying it.

Ya, I tried every relevant boot image I could find in the forums, and the device didnt work properly with any of them. The only one that allowed the device to boot successfully caused the wifi and sounds to not work. So I downloaded the full update from OnePlus and extracted it to a folder, then used payload dumper to extract all of the individual images out of the payload.bin file from OnePlus. I copied the boot.img into the phone storage and installed Magisk Manager, then patched the stock boot.img and copied it from the phone to my pc. Then I used fastboot boot magisk_patched.img to make sure the image I made would work. I booted the device and inside Magisk Manager I chose direct install in the list of options and everything went smoothly, and I didnt need to rely on finding images online that would hopefully work.

Pre-rooted Boot Image OP7T European HD65BA 10.0.7

Hello,
I have seen few requests about providing pre-rooted boot image file for OP7T European version for firmware 10.0.6 so here you go.
Steps :
1) Reboot your phone in bootloader mode (fastboot mode).
2) Execute command fastboot boot magisk_patched.img
3) Reboot the device
4) Install Magisk Manager
5) Click on Install, then direct install and wait the end of the process
6) Reboot the device
Also attaching the stock boot file in case anything goes wrong.
P.S : I don't own European OP7T.

NO! First time you unlock your bootloader thats wipe your device, not when flashing a boot.img
it's not working for me with Oxygen 10.0.6 HD65BA.
If i try to boot the magisk patched boot image the phone just reboot within fastboot mode, and if i try to normally boot i just can't update magisk.
-----
Update:
I found this surfing the net :
Unlike older OnePlus phones, the current bootloader of the OnePlus 7 Pro doesn’t allow ‘fastboot boot’ (also known as tethered booting) command. The situation is same as Essential PH-1 as well some other phones where you can’t temporarily boot a kernel or recovery.

Thanks, I found the instructions on how to do it already and took the Global boot image. I am just booting it with fastboot boot instead of flash. Just being cautious is all.
Same situation over there, trying either boot or flash the image, the phone reboots itself into bootloader. Stock 10.0.6.

What is the difference between global and European? And can i still update ota after flashing this?
Hello !
Thanks for the guide !
I successfully installed Magisk, but once I install Riru core and EdXposed, my OP7T also gets stuck and boots only into fastboot. After wiping everything to factory reset, my phone is back to normal.
Is EdXposed working with this version of Magisk ?
(OpenPlus 7T HD65BA 10.0.6)
Thanks for help
Edit : problem solved with this method.
Excellent.
Many thanks @zanderzone

Most likely you won't get any notifications if there are updates. You won't be able to use incremental updates.
But you can keep root flashing magisk right after the update before rebooting your phone.
could someone help me? I got the european version but if i try to boot the magisk_patched.img i just get stuck in fastboot mode and if i try to flash the patched image i get stuck in fastboot mode and i've to flash again the stock boot.
I also tried the global one but without any results.
Thanks
edit. I have the HD65BA 10.0.6 version
I was able to boot using your magisk_patched.img using "fastboot boot magisk_patched.img", but WIFI doesn't work now. I haven't inserted the SIM yet so I am unable to install magisk (it can't connect to download it). Is it only my case, or did it happen to anyone else? Any fixes?
Or is ir a temporary thing and after installing magisk it will work (WIFI)?
EDIT: with "fastboot boot Stock_boot.img" I get the same WIFI problem. Rebooting normally makes WIFI work again.
EDIT2: I tried it with the SIM on and the process was perfect. Thank you for that patched boot image and the tutorial!!!
Any chance @zanderzone that you could put a 10.0.7 version up?
I lost root with the recent update...
I found the detailed instructions too late.

Stuck on bootloop while updating to Android 10
How did you update your phone while keeping magisk? I tried updating via OTA, did not restart and then flashed Magisk 7.5.3 on inactive slot and then rebooted my phone. Now it is stuck on bootloop.
Even the TWRP is gone but the stock recovery shows that the update is installed.
Do you know any way as to how I can fix this?
I have unlocked bootloader so im not using OTA, just downloading updates from Asus site, after update and phone restart you lose magisk, you have to install magisk manager APK, then via fast_boot install patched boot.img.
That's why i uploaded patched boot.img for 17...., u always have to repeat it after updating.
Right now just flash stock ROM

Installing the stock boot image helped me boot my device, but installing magisk causes a bootloop everytime and even if i try to flash twrp, the phone boots only into twrp and not the system.

So where are you stuck?
Let's go step by step:
So you have unlocked the bootloader and now you have the stock boot img for you rom patched?
Have you tried to install the patched img through adb?
Fastboot flash boot nameofimg.img
Make sure is the patched img.
Once you do that you have to go to magisk web site https://******************/ download the lastest apk.
Install remember to allow your browser to install unknown apps.
Once that happens magisk Wil tell you that it needs to install some extra things let it do it and it will reboot.
I know you said you tried it but in this guide you also get the patched boot img.

Place the boot.img in the fastboot folder file. What I had to do since I had downloaded this fastboot zip but it was two in one, forgot the name but I had to put the boot.img into the file folder of fastboot so when I open adb or whatever it will detect the boot.img file.
As Yelloman said you do have to put the img file in the Fastboot folder in order for it to transfer the img to your device.

Did u fastboot oem unlock, or did you use a different method?

root 10.5.8

For whatever reason OnePlus removed the 10.5.8 update from their server. Therefore we can't patch to boot img.
The steps I took were
1. Patch 10.5.6 boot the img in fastboot
2. Reboot into system setup magisk
3. Reboot again in fastboot
4. Boot magisk patched img
5. Go into magisk and install and choose direct install
6. Profit with a 10.5.8 device without the wifi/gps/Bluetooth issues.
Thought I'd share my experience as I bought second hand and it had the latest update and couldn't find the download link to the full system update.
Might want to mention which Magisk, the known problem with Canary?
Also why patch 10.5.6 and not 8

He dont have the 10.5.8.full rom to extract and patch the img
So he probably patch the 10.5.6 img , he just boot it temporary on fastboot , going to magisk ,installing magisk and when he's rebooting , he's on 10.5.8 rooted..
Here's stock boot for 10.5.8IN11BA if anyone needs it https://mega.nz/file/sb4WwSBS#jrCL7tek0SLbynTqbPU-s_j5g0cKFRsC4u7DR7S7sCI

Can't you get it from the updater?

Not if you have already updated via the OTA..
He probably got the OTA ( full zip) install it and then boot it..
If you've updated via local upgrade , then the full ROM zip has been saved on internal storage ...
But the easiest way to update and keep root is to just take the ota through the updater..dont reboot go to magisk manager , install magisk on inactive slot , ...done...
Patched img only needed to root after unlocking bootloader ..
Not anymore....
Bought the device updated already and can't find the 10.5.8AA build at all on OnePlus
facing the same issue... if anyone have the 5.8 aa it would be a great help <3

Patch the 10.5.6 boot IMG and the fastboot boot <patchedmagisk.img>
Setup magisk and reboot into bootloader again to boot the patched image
Then go into magisk and do direct install and finally have working wifi etc.

Not a problem. I'm glad you didn't answer lol. I ended up teaching myself how to pull the img files from a payload.bin.
