Hik-Connect Push Notifications delay - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hi all,
After days and days of searching the web and trying everything I can, I'm still having the same issues.
I came across this forum whilst browsing and had forgotten all about it. I used to be a member many, many years ago when I used to tinker with my HTC Hero (great phone at the time).
Anyway, on to my issue....
Since my swap back to Android from ios, everything has been perfect and I haven't looked back...except this one problem and its driving me insane. Basically I have a Hikvision NVR and cameras at home and use the hik-connect app to live view and get notifications. This is where the problem is! My NVR is set to send me notifications when there is a intrusion on the front of my house and although I get the notifications, they are sometimes 5,10 or 15 mins later. Its not all the time, sometime they are instant (although not very often) and if I have my phone unlocked they also come through instantly.
I've checked everything that I can think of including the battery optimisation settings etc.
Does anyone have any ideas? After here Im giving up with it.
Samsung S20+ on EE UK
BT HUB
Thanks folks
Gaz

have you ever figured this out? i also use HikConnect for intercom
sometimes when a visito pressed the doorbutton, i get a delay notifations from 2-5 min or more
doesnt happen al the time
also battery optimalization is disabled
running oneplus 6t here

Weird!! "Phoenix" Problem

Gad. As an engineer, I am a little reluctant to post this question or observation ... but if trained active astronaughts reported seeing UFOs, then I can report this problem. Here it goes:
My upgrade to 6.1 on my T-Mobile Dash coincided, unfortunately, to the day, with a new job that requires me to commute to Phoenix, AZ each week (as well as other brief US travels).
The evening I installed 6.1 (RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_080408_WWE)
I was in my home in the Silicon Valley area of CA. No problems.
Then
1. I shuttle off to Phoenix. From the moment I landed - email was just broken all over the place - mainly SMTP - which is well documented on these boards. A replacement Dash, 30 hours of tech support etc .. the problem has seemed to go away - perhaps it was a bizzare temporary incompatability between the 6.1 upgrade and tmobile's proxy servers.
now then ....
2. When I am in CA - my appointment reminders, and the overall behavior of the Dash is OK. I tend to use Tasks, Outlook, and text and pop emails quite often, browser and playing solitaire when i get bored. and lots of bluetooth use. Usually no problems with any of this while in CA.
3. I've traveled recently to Orlando, LA, St. Louis, San Fran, Indiana ... no problems at all - or rather no changes in behavior.
4. The SECOND I land in Phoenix and turn on my phone, the poltergeists start:
a. I turn on the phone - and all the reminders appear (no surprise) - but the "dismiss/menu" options don't appear for maybe 5 mins. I cannot do anything during this time except click on the Celetask button (@)... but this won't allow me to terminate anything. Only the back button and home key work - returning me to the frozen reminders list.
b. After 5 mins of freezing ... I either dismiss the reminder/appointments (or snooze them for 1 hour - ... one hour). Then I try to look at emails etc ... I find the button responses sluggish but working. THEN within about a min - the damn reminders appear again. When I dismiss them all, they reappear in about a min - this time with a duplicate of each active reminder (calender appts) ... yes, 2 of each. This keeps interrupting email reading until I cant stand it.
c. so I take out the battery, wait, and reboot. perhaps after 5 trys of this - the behavior still persists, but stable enough for me to work on the dash (perhaps it is not the reboots - but that the appointment reminder cycle has expired)
d. Even so ... during the next few hours -
i. Major problems talking on the phone. Reminders interrupt; cannot access phone menus (toggle handsfree, or to type touchtone numbers)
ii. When navigating other apps - keyboard does not always respond ... sometimes it appears to stuff in erroneous keystrokes
iii. freezes (unresponsive) for long periods 3-4 mins at a time then all the backlog of keypresses are excuted.
Yes, I have replaced the Dash twice already! That's not the problem
Taking out the battery, or otherwise rebooting actually seems to make the problem worse (the reminders trip over themselves and take forever to clear)
These problems only seem to occur when I stay in Phoenix (I know, a UFO sighting in more pausable).
The problems seem to subside within a day or two but I am not certain.
These problems don't seem to happen in any other city ! Took 4-5 months of traveling to realize this!
gulp ...
Has anyone else experienced anything close to this?
Try a new SIM card, especially if it is older. Sounds funny, but there's a lot of datafill in the HLR/MSC that are tied to specific SIM card ranges. I've seen switching SIMs fix all kinds of issues. Give it a shot... worth a try
It may be tied to the stupid t-mobile Arizona time zone problem. If the phone is set to sync with the time servers to keep accurate, then it will mess with everything else that relies on time. I have to keep mine unchecked for time synchro because otherwise it is an hour off and that changes everything in the calendar.
Next time you head towards Phoenix, try unchecking the automatic time/time zone option in your clock. You may need to reset the clock, but hopefully, it won't screw everything else up.
im in phoenix and nothing like this has happened to me lol. as stated above could very well be because of the timezone issues.

Several issues and annoyances with Tilt2

My wife and I each purchased Tilt2's earlier this week. We both come from Windows Mobile 6.1 phones and are generally happy with WinMo products and comfortable with tweaking them.
We're both having some trouble with the Tilt2 and I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help.
1) Bluetooth sound quality - we each use Bluetooth headsets and have noticed lots of crackling unless the phone is turned with the back facing the headset. This didn't happen with our previous phones (same headsets) unless we got 15-20 feet away from the phone.
2) Dropped calls - I've noticed a ton of dropped calls when I'm talking on the phone and driving along my normal work commute. There are 1-2 holes along the route where my previous phone would drop, but this one drops 5-6 times. I found these radio updates in the ROM forum. Would that help?
3) General performance - The phone seems a little bit laggy and slow to react. Nothing like what we saw in demo videos on sites like wmexperts.com. My wife even reports that hers has completely locked up on her before. And I've noticed a severe lag waiting for the phone to come back after I've flipped the keyboard out. I assume that installing a custom ROM would help with this as it's helped on previous phones we've owned. However, there isn't a 100% working AT&T ROM to revert to yet (only one that appears to work is missing radio and bootsplash at this point) in case the custom ROM doesn't perform better, so I'm a little leary of doing it. Should I be worried? Or will the custom ROMs here help get rid of the lagginess.
4) Switching to landscape mode - My wife told me that her phone isn't always switching to landscape mode. She doesn't have any apps installed yet so I'm assuming it's in all of the default screens. Should everything work in landscape mode?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I figured that she might be using an app that doesn't work in landscape since I haven't come across it yet.
Also, regarding #2, I should have mentioned that I have 4.48.25.20 as my current radio.
1) I use Jabra 2nd gen and mine is working great. A little crackling sound but nothing major.
2) Depend on the area you live and coverage, you might want to try different radio. I have stock radio and mine is working great. Better than my fuze was actually. I can get 1 or more bar than Fuze and call quality is super clear. No drop calls yet while I had like 2-3 drop calls with my fuze.
3) I am still running on stock rom and yes indeed it's slow and sluggish. I have to reset the phone physically sometimes. I am not too happy about moving the battery cover just to reset as well. With custom rom, the phone will be snappy since some people are running custom rom with their Tilt2 already. I am in the same boat as you. Waiting for the complete stock rom dump. Until then.
4) Not all the landscape work as you have already found out.
I use a BlueAnt and my BT reception is good.
I thought mine was slow at first but as I tweaked it a bit, turning off alerts and pop ups, it SEEMS to be more of what I expected.
Haven't had a dropped call issue.
But, I am thinking that I will flash the ROM when something comes along.
Thanks for the replies.
FWIW, my wife uses a Jawbone 2 and the crackling is noticable on both ends of the call. I use a first-gen Jawbone and have nocticed the crackling as well. It seems that it works better when the phone is on the same side of my body as the headset. I did not notice this crackling on my Dash and Blackjack 2 nor her Dash.
I think the dropped calls problem is definitely area related. My wife is currently out of town and it hasn't dropped her calls at all that I know of. And when I'm at home, it's no problem. It's just that on my regular commute, it drops 5-6 times where my previous Dash and Blackjack 2 only dropped once or twice occasionally. I've only made my commute once since I got the Tilt2, so maybe there were some coincidental network issues. That said, call quality has been very good.
I just turned off the new SMS notifications. I've also removed a couple of tabs that I know I'm never going to use (stocks, AT&T, and music) at that seems to have made things a little snappier too.
HAH! Not more than 1-2 minutes after I posted my last message (from my laptop), I went to use the internet connection on my Tilt2 and it locked up. A message appeared asking if I wanted to send error details to MS and then my phone turned off.
Another thing I've noticed is that Opera takes a *really* long time to switch from landscape to portrait. And it seems to be significantly slower than Opera Mini was on my Dash and Blackjack 2. Maybe because Opera Mini is Java-based on those platforms?
My wife is now reporting that her Tilt2 won't unlock unless she slides open the keyboard. Her Exchange connection requires the phone to automatically lock and require a PIN entry. I suggested tapping the power button but that doesn't wake it up, either.
Any suggestions? I'm thinking she might have a bum unit since mine isn't having nearly the trouble hers is.
As far as the lockups, I think there was a thread somewhere about that. Mine doesn't actually lock up but it hangs horribly. Give it 5min or so and it figures itself out, usually involves opening the keyboard at the same time it is launching something, sms in my case.
Suggestion? Hard reset hers and if it continues swap it out.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, she's out of town right now so I actually haven't seen the things she's complaining about first-hand (except for a couple of things that have happened on mine too).
I'll send her instructions for a hard reset and see if she's adventurous enough to try it on her own. The AT&T store near where she's at is exceptionally good - they really know Windows Mobile there and were a big help in getting the phone initially set up. So, worst case, she can go there and have them do it.

Don't run to fast with my advice, I'm a complete noob but hard reset would be the first thing I would try. It is a microsoft product after all and I'm pretty dman lazy to run to the store first.
FWIW- I have a Jawbone 2 and have cracking in the audio. Had it with my Fuze also and have always wondered if it was the headset or phone. I don't think I could keep my fuze in the holster because of the crackling.
I have some slight performance issues, but it's not to bad. Seems mostly relating to minimizing a program and starting a new one.
I have a strange problem with the TF3D photo tab. It's slow to get the image clear. I select an image and then try to scroll through them. It hangs on one, then flips it's orientation (I haven't moved the phone though). Anyone else have issues with the photo tab?

#3 I am running NRG ROM Photon date 10/17 and it is insane on my tilt 2. No radio change either. Stupid fast, eye candy, and never a dropped call or sluggish issues. Link below (5k plus thread, really read the first page to see the versions and Faq's)

I'd like to add that I'm also having some issues with sound and response time.
My phone starts fresh with about 65% of resources used up. After regular phone/contacts usage for an hour I'm at around 70% and after Opera, the phone is done. I can browse or use file explorer or music but there goes the multi-tasking.
I haven't flashed a ROM yet. I just wanted to see what AT&T did with this thing 1st.
One more thing, why did they switch the FN and Shift keys? My brain is having a hard time getting used to it, especially when the shortcuts that require the Fn key are on the bottom row.
I can't really help you out too much, but I haven't been experiencing many of these problems at all, and I'm still on the stock rom, just cleaned it up a bit. Spend some time on the forums and you'll find some good quick hacks to try before you try a new rom.

Touch FLO 3D uses up quite a bit of RAM. I unloaded it and restarted, and my phone is down from 65% to 49%. Unfortunately, I'm kind of liking Touch FLO 3D

Good info about your Jawbone issues. I have an old Plantronics headset that I'm not really using anymore. Maybe I'll give that one a try to see if it's just that Jawbones don't like these new versions of HTC phones (it worked great on her Dash).
As for the photos tab, it seems to work ok. Though the first "flip" through the pictures seems to be slower than subsequent flips.
I found that hiding tabs I won't be using like the "AT&T" tab seems to help speed things up. I think I have 3 or 4 hidden.

Yeah, Touch FLO 3D sure is purty. And, now that I have the tabs sorted and hidden the way I like, it's very easy to use.
Just an update...the Energy ROM seems to have cured the dropped calls. With the stock AT&T ROM, calls dropped about 5-6 times on my regular commute. With the Energy ROM, not a single one!
Something that has happened to me now a few times...I get a call on the phone. Caller ID and picture show up fine. Screen turns off..later i turn the screen on and the phone number is not accurate any longer and the picture is gone..
Anyone had this happen to them?

Yep - happened quite often with the stock AT&T ROM. I don't recall seeing it after switching to the Energy ROM.

[Q] HTC Desire Z Freeze During Standby Mode

Hi,
I just got a new HTC Desire Z Bell Branded (A7275) for my AT&T service. I "debrand" it using the debrand guide. I just noticed twice yesterday that when I put it in standby mode, I try to press the power button to turn off standby mode so I can get the screen to slide down to unlock the screen for usage. Well, it did not....no matter what I do...I cannot get the screen to get unlock. The screen is black as if it isn't on. I hold the power button, still nothing. Only way is for me to pull the battery out, put it back in and power it up. Is this common? What is the problem that causes this? Any help would be nice. Thank you in advance.
have you oc your phone at all? have you flashed a kernel? custom rom? and what guide did you use?
I used this guide to debrand my phone.
have you oc your phone at all?
Not a single bit, everything is bone stock regarding CPU.
have you flashed a kernel? custom rom?
I only flashed the one from the guide.
[ROM] RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e _26.03.02.26_M
what guide did you use?

Thanks for the fast reply and help, bahmanxda.
Tbh I am not sure what is the problem I got nothing ,the only thing that I can think of is if you are already rooted and s/off do a full wipe and flash the Rom again or try different roms if u like sense try virtuous 9.0 its really good.

There are some others with this issue. Unfortunately, the cause has not been found, or whether it is hardware or software related:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857584&highlight=pulling+battery
I've had this crop up myself a few times. I can say this:
Several times my Desire Z has powered off and could only be powered on after pulling the battery and re-installing. It did this twice within the first few days I owned it. Then it didn't happen anymore.
Maybe a week later I tried the Godspeed kernal (1 GHz) and SetCPU. No issues for about 2 weeks.
Then I tried CPU Tuner based on claims made by some users here that it is easier on battery life. Used a screen-off profile to underclock. The phone had the power off problem, 3 times in 2 days. Every time when the screen was off. But the random poweroffs did not start immediately after installing CPU Tuner, maybe 2 days later.
I uninstalled CPU Tuner to see if it would help (and it didn't seem to be improving battery life). Went back to Set CPU (have messed around with and without screen-off profiles). Its been more than 2 weeks, and no random power-offs.
None of this is conclusive, of course. Maybe the problem in my case was CPU Tuner, or a combination of the kernal and CPU Tuner. Maybe the things I've described are complete coincidence, and its some other factor altogether. But just thought I'd throw my experiences out there. Some claim Google Maps is the problem, but I have not found this to be the case. Or possibly some issue with the battery contacts, or the battery itself. Who knows?
Same thing happens to my Bell Desire Z. Every now and then it just decides to freeze and Only solution seems to be to take out the battery and then put it back.
Very frustrating.
Thanks for the reply, everyone. Strange it has not happen for the past 2 days now. I've read the other thread and still no exact detail on the cause of this. This is not good...especially it is my first Android phone and first HTC (bought it due to their reputation of quality made phones).
It happened twice within the first week of using the phone. Decided NOT to return the phone to observe it for a full month. During that month it happened every 3-4 days, always happens when the phone is not charging, and at the hour mark. Decided enough is enough and returned for a warranty claim 2 days ago.
During the one month, I rooted the phone after 2 weeks and flashed a custom ROM, but the problem did not go away.
There're people who aren't affected by this problem though.
I've the exact same problem here. CM 6.1.1 will just randomly black screen on standby. No response to charge when plugged in. The only way to reset is to pull the battery.
I don't think it happened on stock firmware. I'm now highly debating switching ROMs. It's getting annoying to remove the back cover every time I need to do a hard reset.
I think there is a thread in regards to CM and overclocking causing a screen on issue. But I think in those cases, the phone has power (LED and front buttons light up), just the screen can't power on. But adjusting any overclocking/underclocking profiles is worth a try.
Do you have SetCPU or CPU Tuner setup, and any profiles under those, such as underclock when the screen is off? I tried CPU Tuner for a few days, due to claims by XDA users of better battery life than SetCPU. I got 3 instances in 3 days of the phone not being able to power on (had to pull battery). I un-installed CPU Tuner, switched back to SetCPU, and haven't had the power on issue crop back up for almost a month now.
Given, I had the power on issue 2 times before using CPU Tuner, so it can't be the sole culprit. My only theory is that some combination of switching the kernel and SetCPU has solved the issue. Or it has nothing to do with those at all, just a coincidence, and is something else completely. Who knows.
It happened to me many time already. I still use stock htc desire rom and never rooted..
I've had it happen about 6 times, always requiring a battery pull. Totally stock other than being unlocked, not-rooted. But it hasn't happened for the last 3 weeks or ever since I stopped using juicedefender. Coincidence?
Desire Z freezes
Hi,
I also have some random freezes of my Stock Desire Z, I didn't do a thing on software or hardware side.
I run Android 2.2.1 Build 1.72.405.2 CL296256, provider KPN (Rabo Mobiel)
I got rid of the hangs after the upgrade from 2.2.0 then after several weeks it came back, only solvable by removing the battery.
I tried to figure out what's wrong and I think I have several clues:
- mostly some time after using Google Maps
- mostly when Wifi was on (it might be that the Wifi has limited connection and it screws up the data)
- after the reset I allways have updates from Market available
I can't remeber the Memory widget I ran, which I felt was having a good influence on the hangs.
I'm not happy with this behavioure, but cannot determine if it is hardware or software, it's not helping much that the phone just stalls , a reboot is irritating but less then a complete hangup when you don't know how long it has been in that status.
P.S. I don't run juicedefender
Cheers, Edward
I have STOCK G2 ROM.
S-off, CID, unlock via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855764
NO Cputuner or SetCpu (well I uninstalled them before these problems cropped up)
Used G2 for about a month and a bit no problems. Installed launcher pro then started to experience this problem. Coincidence? Not sure. Uninstalled and it did not help. Uninstalled several more apps that I recently loaded (skype, minimalistic text, Gtab Simi clock...) didn't help.
Wiped phone, nandroid backup to original ROM, restored using TB. Worked for a few days then just started happening again.
I also was using 2 chinese batteries I bought from eBay. Not sure if this has anything to do with it either.
// Just reflashed, HTC stock battery. Froze up within an hour. Too bad I bought this off of ebay, no warranty
// Factory Reset, restored apps and data with TB, still freezing
Hi all
I'm new to this forum (sorry, a newbie about to make a whole load of gaffs, no doubt), but I am at least fairly tech-savvy. I've had HTCs for years, right from the days of the 2000 vintage Compaq Ipaq!!
My wife & I bought two Desire Zs at Christmas, and it was therefore 50:50 which box was opened by whom. It appears I picked the dud, as I'm suffering from the issue described by all you guys, and in the other thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857584
For the sake of adding more evidence to this otherwise confusing issue, I thought I'd join the forum:
So:
1) The device is not modded in any way. Standard ROM from HTC, being used on the UK T-mobile network. Currently at Android 2.2.1, Kernel 2.6.32.21-g540976a, Build 1.72.405.2 CL296256 "release-keys". This was installed on Christmas day, over the air.
2) There has been no playing with processor speeds or memory management.
3) The first crash of this nature was either on Christmas Day or Boxing day (ie the day-after-christmas-in-England); can't quite remember now, but certainly after the ROM update.
4) I have had this occur irregularly, but in increasing frequency, since that date. I think I'm probably into double figures by now, but I've only started to log them recently.
5) I was starting to think that there was some correllation with GPS applications. The phone would die after using Google Earth, for example, but not immediately. It may be after two or three standby's that it would fail to respond on the fourth, for example.
6) I had a very bad day a few weekends ago where the phone died four times in a single day. I had been using geotagging-photos (in the standard HTC camera app)... plus location-based services such as Yell and Google maps.
7) I tried keeping GPS disabled, and to be fair, there was no evidence of it crashing at that point. But I use GPS too much to make this plausible for a long time.
8) I wondered if it was due to the motion of keeping my phone in my pocket, but it died over night on the bed-side table on Monday-Tuesday, where my last usage had been the Friend-Stream widget/app. GPS was on...
During all of this, my wife's phone has not shown any of these symptoms. Whilst she uses Google Maps, Google Navigator & HTC Navigator a bit, she generally keeps the GPS turned off except for specific odd occasions. Hers has not crashed in this manner...
About to contact HTC to see what their response is...
This has occurred for me regardless of app usage.
It can occur right after a fresh reboot after being fully charged.
// Wow, I was in the middle of sending a txt and it just shut off on me...
I really wish I had a warranty on this
Hey there.
I can clearly pinpoint the problem with my desire z to the GPS. In the first view weeks I used it regularly and my phone froze, but only when the gps sensor was not active anymore (and the phone had gone to standby once or more). It didn't matter which app I used. For a while now I haven't been using GPS and my phone runs smooth as hell.
@lost800: I suppose your problem has a different kind of nature.
I already contacted HTC (very good support) and they told me to send it in to repair. I need my phone for work at the moment and I haven't found time to do this.
Due to the very small amount of ppl having that problem, I suppose it's an hardware error.

Edit: Just out of curiosity, is there any meaning to the kernel version? Or has every mobile phone the same one?
Hello all, here is my input on this problem
My DZ has started freezing while I'm doing stuff:
* playing cards
* writting an email or a text
* using xda app
* ...
I never have GPS on. The frequency has greatly accelerated in the past 2 weeks but the weirder thing is that the last 3 times I remove sdcard and then put it back in to get the phone to boot, but it does not boot... it hangs on HTC logo for a long time (I've left it there for up to 15 minutes to see...) I eventually just remove the battery and from the phone and wait before trying to put it back in and boot...
Wait times required have varried from 5 minutes to several days.
I have observed this behavior on Stock 1.34.405, Virtuous 0.9, Virtuous 1.0.0 and back on stock 1.34.405 Today. I've wiped, flashed stock RUU nothing has helped. This puppy is going back for repair/exchange (it is 3 months old).

I called HTC support to see about getting the phone replaced. After explaining to the guy that it was freezing and then not rebooting when I pulled the battery out, the first thing he said was: "Did you install apps from the market ?"
Given that I replied by the affirmative he wanted me to test rebooting in safe mode and seeing if the freezes still occured before moving on to a replacement. He claimed that some market apps are not "properly coded and can mess up the phone"
I asked for and got the instructions how to reboot into "safe mode" (hit keyboard S key at HTC logo and stay on it while it boots)
In "safe mode" you can still install apps but they won't appear in the app drawer so you won't be able to start them (you can start them if they are on your home pages though ). No backgroud apps will run though (bbc, task killer ...)
Well I ran in safemode for 6 days and used the phone as I always do (work email, leisure email, web, video, camera, games, GPS, bluetooth etc...) and the darned thing ran perfectly. No freeze during those 6 days (the last few times it took less than 2 days to get a freeze).
I therefore decided it was time to test it again in "normal mode". Before rebooting I removed my task killer as for me this was "THE APP" that "safe mode" was really blocking from running on my phone...
Well It has been 2 days now and still no freeze. If it stays that way for another week I think I will have a rather good idea of who was the culprit...
Will keep you all updated and keep my fingers crossed.
Hi guys
An update:
HTC over the web-support were very helpful. Immediately they suggested that the device needed to be taken in for repair. In subsequent stages of the dialogue, they stated that the mainboard would be replaced.
A couple of weeks ago, I cleared down my device, packaged it up and waved goodbye to it (sniff...). HTC took it and...
!!DID NOTHING!!
It came back on Monday with an *old* ROM installed (1.35... If I remember correctly), and a statement saying 'no fault found'.
I've built the phone back up to where it used to be, including installing the over-the-air update to 1.72.405.2 (I need this as there's an activesync exchange bug in the old ROM) and within 24 hours, the device was unresponsive again
I have just written back to HTC to find out what the next steps are. I'd be interested to see if they suggest some debugging actions, like the safe-mode option, for example.
I've also asked them directly if their engineers have any clue what is causing this? Fundamentally, I don't see how any app should have the power to kill the device, however badly written it might be. That suggests insufficient controls/barriers in the OS.
Throughout this period, my wife's phone has continued to operate perfectly, even with some extra GPS playing to try to force a failure. So, we are now looking for any differences that could help to pin this down further. One difference is that she has never enabled the HTCSENSE.COM account on her phone, whereas I had. Perhaps there's some problem with the Phone Location functionality (in addition to the fact that I have to be in a yacht off the West coast of Africa for it to accurately show the phone's location). To test this, I've removed my HTCSENSE.COM account this morning.
Dwardo: I think your issue is slightly different, but the safe-mode info is useful.
Thanks
Andy

HOX on Orange UK. Getting worse. WIFI 'not in range' and Keyboard not responding

Hi All,
I hope someone can help me on this one, I've had a good search of both this forum and the internet in general on a couple of occasions and not found anything that can help me with my specific problems.
I'm relatively new to Android, and am running a HTC One X on Orange UK, still locked and on Android version 4.0.3.
I've really been enjoying the phone (battery life excepted), but a couple of things have begun to Plague me over the last couple of days.
1) I've installed SwiftKey and a couple of months ago, a very intermittent bug started happening, where as soon as I entered a text field, the keyboard would appear as normal, and the keys would 'pop up' to show I'd hit them, I'd even get the haptic feedback, but nothing would be entered into the text field. This tended to happen without fail when I was trying to show off to iPhone-owning friends. For a month or two, this was a minor annoyance, sometimes, clearing the cache at settings>apps>all>HTC Sense would fix it, sometimes it required a reboot. However, I've just done my second reboot of the day - it's getting worse. It doesn't seem to be Swiftkey exclusive, as it's just happened to me with the Sense keyboard.
2) This is a new problem that has only cropped up since mid-last-week; The phone has started to lose WIFI connections. Connections that I know are there. My HOX will be telling me that my home router is out of range, when my nexus 7 (and my laptop, and my wife's iPad) are all happily working away on that connection whilst in the same room. I haven't done the squeeze test yet, but I'm pretty sure that it's not a loose connection as a reboot addresses the problem. The same problem occurs at work so I've ruled out my router (I restarted it for the first time in months anyway, but that hasn't stopped the problem).
The last reboot (the one that's prompted this post) took place because both issue happened at once. I've taken care of my HOX, it's faced no physical trauma, it's unrooted, I've only ever installed apps from Play store, Amazon and Humble Bundle. The phone really seems to be degenerating badly at the moment, and I'm wondering if this is down to a software upgrade. I'm wonderng this because I've noticed the phone warming up in my pocket quite a lot recently and the battery life has been worse than normal.
Any advice that anyone can offer would be much appreciated.
The wifi thing is the standard HOX fault, and it'll need to be repaired. Check out the monster thread on it.
Thanks Rusty,
I'm going to look into that tonight. I don't believe that it is a loose antenna, but I'll confirm.

Wifi Problems!

Hey there, I brought my htc one x on contract with 3 at the start of august, the first one had a problem with the battery and had to wait to have a new one in white but eventually, I recieved one that worked. It had been great till a few weeks ago where my wi-fi has been poorer than before, everything else was fine though including my computer and few other things but my one x suddenly buffers every youtube video which take a while to load and keep pausing, the wifi disconnects every now and then but the internet along with twitter and facebook you can't always tell but it defiantly is poor at times. The Wi-fi icon at the top is full at times even when it isn't connecting well to the wifi and then always goes up and down. Always random. I tried the squeeze test which has once or twice improved it but nothing is effected by it usually, even when i downloaded the wifi analyser app, at first i squeezed it and it shot up but since then even if it says the signal is good, it still isn't. It's the youtube that is the worse, but I don't think it is just that as the wifi disconnects and goes up and down at times and just poor compared to before. Do i have this same problem though? The squeeze dosen't always work and what shall i do? Go back to the 3 store?
Really was a good phone till this problem popped up.
