Pre-Order LTE w/Keyboard Discount? - Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 / S7 Plus Guides, News, & Di

All,
I am trying to get a 7+ with Verizon, and right now you can't pre=order, just "reserve". This isn't tied to your account, so there is no way to get the keyboard discount. Is there a way to do this? If they don't take pre-orders, is there a way to get the discounted keyboard?
Be a shame to have to order and return the wifi one just to get the keyboard discount.

You can order the Verizon version direct from Samsung and take advantage of the discount.

Not now you can't, the the discount is for pre-orders. Thus my query...

all the s7+s i see on samsung are WIFI only , even the carrier variants. when you look at the specs it only lists wifi.
i asked samsung via chat and was told the 15th or thereabouts the 5G versions would be up.
im happy to be wrong and if i am ,please correct me.
im trying to get the 5G 512gb version with the keyboard setup also. preferably not tied to a carrier.

Looks like you can pre-order every varianet but Verizon. Of course

Any other ATT users getting the Tmobile one? Also what's the chance of unlocking?

Any other AT&T users who feel burned by the Note 3 Root fiasco going with a full price Tmobile Note 4 to use on AT&T? I know first question is why not switch to Tmobile, well in my area they don't have good coverage so it's not an option. I plan on signing up for their $40 plan, paying full price for the phone, trading in my old iPhone 4 for $50 and getting the remainder $150 rebate from Samsung then shutting off Tmobile service as soon as I get home.
The only issue with my plan is Tmobile requires 40 days of service before they unlock your phone. Anyone care to guess how long it will take an aftermarket company to have the ability to unlock the Tmobile Note 4 for a fee?
I am in the same boat. I will keep my T plan and just want to purchase the full price TMOB phone. I was unaware I needed to start service with TMOB to buy one. Perhaps my sister who is a TMOB customer will buy it for me. I am not sure the LTE frequencies are the same for TMOB and T. I see some threads that say for the Note that it will work but I am note sure if that is for 3G or LTE. I require LTE or I'll just look at other phones. I am still on a subsidized phone plan so I may just pre-order the T locked crapola phone and sell it discounted to recoupe the part of TMOB phone cost. But I too am looking for confirmation that the TMOB boot loader will be unlocked.
This locked boot loader is a bunch of BS!
Same here. I want to confirm it will be rootable.
I also didn't realize you have to go onto their plan to purchase. I'd think if paying full price it wouldn't be a requirement.
I'll be watching. I'm anxious, but need to be patient.
Well I'm not 100% sure you have to sign up for a plan, I'm just not sure how much resistance or BS you will encounter if you just walk in and say you want a full price phone without getting a plan, IE: without making the rep any money. Maybe it's possible to just buy it outright on the website, I think there is also an option to trade in your phone then because you need to prove a trade in to get the $200 Samsung rebate.
I think the issue is to get it unlocked you have to have it on a Tmobile plan for 40 days. So it's going to have to be an unlocking service that is aftermarket. Do these aftermarket unlocking service typically have access to unlock codes immediately when a new phone is released?
Att user here i will be getting the tmob.. as its official that att and verizon Will not sell devices with unlocked bootladers anymore..
So tmob here i come.. shouldnt take long for xda to come up with an unlock....

Funny ATT and VZW is not afraid to give more business to Tmo. Thats interesting and good for Tmo.
I plan on buying the t-mobile note 4 at full retail price than paying like 10 or less to unlock it from an online site. I then have a note 4 at a lower price than att outright and hopefully a modable phone
Last year I initially bought the Note 3 on ATT and then later bought the t mobile version off of ebay for full retail unlocked. Then returned my ATT version to best buy.
I tried to buy the t mobile version directly from T mobile, but they would not sell to me without my getting a plan. It was going to cost me quite a bit extra to do it that way so I just went to ebay. Swappa may be another option.

Best buy looks like the best option if they have the Tmobile version next week. They are giving a $200 gift card for any traded in phone, which is as good as the Samsung rebate if you like to spend money at BB. You can also just order it full price on the internet no questions asked, no pushy reps.
What do you guys think of warranty issues though? With a ATT phone I'd just go to the ATT warranty center. Since I won't have a Tmobile account I don't think Tmobile will help me with warranty issues. I guess I'm stuck with Samsung for warranty issues. Will a Samsung kiosk take the phone and replace it or send it in, or do I have to deal with Samsung directly?

Best Buy doesn't carry T-Mobile phones or plans other than the prepaid stuff. That's why T-Mobile is excluded from the Best Buy promotion. Amazon also doesn't carry T-Mobile phones/plans other than the prepaid stuff.
You'll need to send it in.
Bleh, I guess I'm stuck with Tmobile and faking their cheapest plan then cancelling when I get home. Oh well, at least I can trade my old iPhone in for the Samsung promo. $549 is not a bad deal for the N4 at all.
Can anyone who has bought a TMOB phone please verify they actually get LTE service on T? Looking at the LTE bands, it appears T verse TMOB used different bands in the same frequency.

Yup, many people get ATT LTE with tmobile phones. Here is a very large thread in the note 3 section on everything you need to know.
See my signature.
I'll never buy another AT&T phone as long as they keep locking the bootloader and going out of their way to prevent root.
T-Mobile S5 got root (and recovery option) the first week it was released. First day maybe even?
AT&T S5 didn't get root until what, seven freaking weeks after release?
This year though, I'm seriously considering just leaving AT&T all together and going with both TMO phone AND plan.
Their coverage in my area is actually better than ATT in some places.
I'm not in a rush to leave my Note 3 behind though.
I'm running an AOSP/CM/Slim based ROM that is absolutely rock solid stable, fast and great battery life and has tons of customization options.
It would be several months before the Note 4 gets a really good AOSP ROM.
A relative of mine has a TMOB plan and I asked them to pre-order the phone for me. They said that TMOB requires you to have a the "jump" plan which they did not use so they would not let them pre-order it.
I assume someone on Flea-Bay will sell unlocked TMOB Note 4 eventually. I guess I'll just have to wait for those to show up. Unless there will eventually is another source without a plan?
Or are all of you preordering them here and then will just cancel the service after you receive it and pay the balance?

Yeah I'm just grabbing it off the website, I'm assuming my plan won't start until I actually activate the phone. As soon as I get the phone delivered I'll cancel the plan and hopefully they don't charge me the first month. Only 2 things I'm not sure of are:
1) They are charging me a $50 deposit versus the first months service, will I get this back? It also says within 12 months!?!? Still I'm ok with it as it's cheaper than the ATT one.
2) What happens to the $22 credit they are giving me for my old phone trade in? I won't have a bill to apply it to, will this get lost?
I have the tmobile note 3 and the at&t note 3,I have at&t service as tmobile service sucks were I am.I bought the tmobile note 3 last year from tmobile full price from store got the cheapest plan then shut it off the next day.I got it unlocked when I got home for 15 bucks from unlock service out of the play store in about an hour.I will never buy a At&t phone again unless the bootloader is unlocked. It took forever just to get root access on the at&t model thats why I bought the tmobile note 3.I can live without the roms but not root.I can assure you I get the same at%t service on my tmobile note 3 as the at&t note 3 including lte on the tmobile note 3.I will be picking up the tmobile note 4 .I want the note edge but there no release date yet so the note 4 will do until I can get the note edge, which will also be picking up the tmobile model using it with at&t service.

That's what I'll be doing.
I've been reading through the Note 3 TMobile-->AT&T thread and am hoping I don't screw up AT&T LTE service if they have my IMEI. (Or lose my grandfathered unlimited plan)
However, I probably just don't fully understand the process yet.

I am not sure how big a PITA it will be to cancel TMOB service the day I receive the phone. Will they hit me with charges other than the cost of the phone and the $10 for the SIM?
It does not sound like the day I receive it I could just stick in my T SIM and go since it comes locked (I assume). Folks with Note 3 experience, please chime in if I am wrong.
Plus, I assume the phone will be locked to TMOB. I was reading that they will unlock it after 45 days, but I wonder if you cancel the service if that is true. I guess someone will offer an unlock service for a nominal amount eventually.
Cancellation and Returns. Service Cancellation: You can cancel a new line of Service, and if applicable, not pay an Early Termination Fee, if you cancel WITHIN 14 DAYS of activating that new line of Service (some states may differ – ask your sales representative) (“Cancellation Period”). You remain responsible for all Charges incurred through the date of cancellation. To cancel Service during the Cancellation Period, you may be required to go to the place where you activated Service and return any T-Mobile Device you acquired at the time of activation. You must return your T-Mobile Device in its package with all original contents, undamaged and in good working condition with no material alterations to the Device’s hardware or software. If you do not return your T-Mobile Device or if you return your T-Mobile Device in a damaged, altered or destroyed condition, we may take one or more of the following actions: (a) prevent your T-Mobile Device from working on any network; (b) charge you the Early Termination Fee(if your line of Service is subject to an early termination fee); (c) elect not to process your Service cancellation; or (d) charge you the suggested retail price or the cost to repair a damaged, destroyed, or non-returned T-Mobile Device, (which may be greater than the price you paid), plus any shipping and handling charges. Device Refunds and Restocking Fees: For T-Mobile Device and accessory returns and exchanges, see the applicable return policy, which is available at your place of purchase. Some T-Mobile Devices and accessories may not be refunded or exchanged, and you may be required to pay a restocking fee.

I am wondering if it just might be less hassle to wait a few days after the phone ship and buy it from Flea-Bay or Swappa or such, where the phone may come unlocked (to TMOB carrier) out of the box?

[Q] Samsung 50% off

I'm from Australia.. I registered my device on the Samsung website but never got the 50% off.. was going to get the keyboard, is this offer US only? Cheers
I've heard of the %50 deal to, so I tried to sign up and register my devices (Tab S, Note 4 x 2) and couldn't for the life of me get them registered. It kept trying to start an account for servicing, I don't need a service, and I just gave up.
Can you tell me how you registered pls ?
Got my 10.5 registered after talking to a customer service rep. on chat. I previously had a 8.4 but returned that one. I got a 50% discount on both, but only used the one for the last tablet, my 10.5. I did order the keyboard case at half price which is about $79.
Unfortunately, I got a notice the other day that the keyboard case is on backorder. Don't know when I'll get it now.
I'm sorry but I don't know if this offer only applies to USA purchases but I'd get on-line and do a chat to confirm that you can use it from Australia.
Could someone please reply with the link that explains the 50% discount and how to get it. Thanks
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/register/product
Must be Signed in.
Don't forget that to use discount codes on Samsung, you must also be Signed In at the time with your account information, or the code will not work.
I really think it only applies to the US. I've been wanting a discount on the keyboard so I could purchase one already but it looks like they don't have the keyboard here in the Philippines but I'm gonna need to ask them and find help.

Any problems with buying phone outright over upgrade?

Hey everyone - just a quick question. I purchased my phone directly from Samsung, the Verizon version of course and was curious if after it arrived I would have to go into the store to activate it or, if I could simply throw in my old Sim from my HTC. I purchased the n7 outright rather than using my upgrade (saving it for q1 2017).
I'm assuming that I can just pop in the old sim but wanted to double check I wouldn't lose any features/functions from doing so.
Thanks in advance!
As long as the old Sim is a nanosim then yes you can just pop in the new one. Typically the phone will include a sim card with it and you can activate it online or over the phone using another device to activate your Note 7. If you don't feel like going through with the manual activation, swapping it over should work just fine.
Cheers I figure it would be simply! Thanks cad!

I had a slight problem buying outright from Verizon, as I was not upgrade eligible. They would NOT let me pre-order without changing to the "new" Verizon plan. I, too, ordered directly from Samsung, so appreciate your question, and might just switch Sims. Have you had any news on Samsung shipping? It sounds like TMobile is already shipping?

This is something I posted on another thread I had made -- I spoke with about 7 different reps until I finally got this answer:
"I actually called back a couple of times to get some kind of statistical honesty... Yeah I know.
Finally I spoke to someone high enough up the ladder who said, "the only people who know when the phones from Samsung will ship, are the corporate execs. Despite what anyone tells you, only carriers can release early, as the manufacturer, we just wait. However, if you did preorder early, you will get your phone around the 19th as we've been told."
It only took me 5 phone calls to get some honesty... Albeit bizarre honesty. ALL I WANTED WAS TO HEAR 'Hey man, I'm gonna ship your phone on Monday!"
This was after 2 people told me the phones were shipping Mid-September and I was trying to cancel my order to pick one up in store...
BTW I also went with coral blue, ordered on 8/3

Thanks very much. That's what I was looking for. It's like pulling teeth to get anything out of them, isn't it? So it appears that phones ordered from carriers will be received sooner than Samsung orders? Oh well.
Maybe, maybe not.. It's like a magic 8 ball.. I figure well have them this week assuming you ordered somewhat early.

That's BS. You can keep your old plan and put the new phone on device payments. I did it in June when I got a new S7E. This rule was instituted last November to "lessen" the blow of the additional $20 price hike for grandfathered UDPs but applies to all old plans.
Of course my old device was already paid for. If yours isn't, don't know what the deal is then. You may have to pay it off, then trade it in to get a new device and keep your old plan.

I'm on a "loyalty" plan, which has a good rate, and as I understand it, I have a plan commitment, but the phone is free to go anytime - not locked like they used to be. So I was unable to order online (paying full price outright) without accepting the new plan, and when I called in I got the same information - could not pre-order without changing the plan since I was still under contract. You know you can call 5 times and get 5 different answers. Since it was the 19th, I was on hold a long time and someone finally said they would transfer me to someone who could probably do it. By that time I decided to go through Samsung, which I did online with no problem. Like all of us, can't wait to get it!
As long as it is a nano sim just pop in and you are good to go.

I'm still on the note 3 and I love it due to the rooting/customization I have, but I think it's about time for an upgrade. I am currently on a UDP line, does the best buy method work anymore or will I have to buy this phone at full price to keep my UDP. I am on a the same bill as a few family members that have an upgrade but they are thinking of switching providers so I'm not sure I can use their upgrade to grab the phone at a discounted price.
If you look at the bottom of the page on best buys website they have a disclaimer about unlimited data.
Also if you buy phone at full price you will not have a issues last I heard.
I didn't preorder. Just went to Best Buy on release day , bought it full retail and popped my sim into the phone. Hassle free.

**LOOPHOLE** we come out on top with this scenario INSTALLMENT PLANS ONLY

As y'all may or may not know I tried to turn my verizon note 7 couple days ago but they did not accept it and said I will get a box and after i send and they receive it then they will credit me the tax, activation fee . I was peeved as i had to pay a new tax on my 7 plus 256 which is not cheap $106 plus activation fee however they said call Customer care and they will reimburse and waive off the activation fee so that is pretty fair..
Now here comes the good part..
When my new phone arrived my installments for the note 7 is gone no trace of it on my account. i searched everywhere via my verizon.. my new installments already began with the i7plus. So now I'm supposedly waiting for this box to arrive so i can put the note 7 and get my tax and activation waived.. well F THAT ..i called Verizon and they waived my activation already for the i7plus. AND for all this trouble I am deciding on keeping this device for as long as i want.. this is a $900 device what's paying the tax of $100 going to do? I say its well worth keeping for $100 . I am beyond angry with the way this process is being handled.. why not automatically waive the tax for my new Upgrade device ?that's what peeved me the most and made me rebel.. so here i am using an i7plus and on forever Wi-Fi on my $100 note 7 .. BEST OF BOTH WORLDS .. i use my i7plus for messaging and note 7 for my entertainment ..
How i feel
or, instead of keeping the note 7, request a return with Samsung directly. They are accepting returns from people that bought it used from craigslist or ebay. Once they receive it they will cut you a check for the carriers' retail value. I'd rather have $850+tax in cash.

Are you calling the right Samsung dept? You need to get in touch with their Colorado call center. There is a phone number listed in one of the reddit posts.
They are sending me the special box so I can ship them my note 7. Upon receipt they will cut me a check for $850, or the tmobile retail value.

If that's actually true and Samsung is actually willing to buy back devices that can't or won't be returned to carriers directly then anyone attempting to sell a Note 7 would be a fool not to take advantage of it.
With the actual recall now official and legally in place, anyone attempting to sell a Note 7 in the US could face Federal charges if they're caught doing it and you can be absolutely certain there are law enforcement people of setting up stings on craigslist in major cities already in progress. eBay is actively yanking any Note 7 listings of most any kind automagically, and Swappa won't list a Note 7 at all either so, craigslist and local sales boards/services will be the only realistic option for some folk that just don't have a clue.
Hell, I kinda wish I had a Note 7 right now to sell back to Samsung myself.

Can i get a truth confirmation from this ? That is way better than my plan .. HOWEVER when they see the IMEI then it's gameover your carrier will find out
At this point it doesn't matter, it could be a lost device, or even one that's been reported as stolen or wherever it's purchased from, second-handed or not - the point here once again is they have to get these phones out of the public's hands and that's that, any way they can and if that means buying them back directly from consumers that's what they're going to do.

I'm confused...
I'm on an installment plan with Verizon. You're saying if I deal with Samsung directly, lie and say I got my phone on ebay, and send them the phone directly, they'll give me $850 + tax? That doesn't make sense.
Can't Samsung just check the IMEI to see that the phone hasn't already been paid for in full?

Even if they do, you get the $850 + tax from Samsung direct and you'd be expected to use that money to repay Verizon because they bought it from Samsung - either way Samsung loses, Verizon gets their money back, and so do you - unless of course you turn into a cheap scumbucket, take the money from Samsung and give Verizon the finger and don't honor what you're supposed to actually do in that situation which I'm sure a lot of folks are considering already as a quick way to make some fast cash off Samsung's troubles.
This is assuming that you can get Samsung to actually make you that offer, of course, so call them at that number in the Reddit thread and ask for the Note 7 office in Colorado and see what happens.
Samsung asked for IMEI, but as a verification of the phone itself. There is no way they can see into your plan status with Verizon.

If I was gonna pay off Verizon anyway - it makes more sense to deal with them. Verizon is already offering a full refund of what I have paid so far (Probably somewhere around $60 with installment plan). But, my understanding of what was written in the OP is that Verizon just decided to forget about all of the installment plans for the Note 7, while leaving the phone in our hands. Verizon is putting a lot of faith in its customers to leave it up to us to mail the Note 7 in this fireproof box.
SO, you can either keep a free Note 7, or monetize it by sending it direct to Samsung and getting cash. Either way, your being a "scumbucket" haha.

That's crazy! I might do this, wow. I can't believe Verizon would just delete all of the installment plans like that. This loophole is gonna cost Verizon thousands, if not millions of dollars...

OK....
SOOOOOOOOOOO
I just logged into my account on Verizon. My bill cycle ends every month on the 12th so it was updated very recently.
The Galaxy Note 7 installment plan has disappeared from my Verizon bill. Poof. Gone.
In the August - September bill cycle, the charges on my line totalled $56.
This includes the $20 standard for Verizon line access, and $36 for the device payment. It also clearly states that there is $828 left to be paid off.
In the September - October bill cycle, the charges on my line were reduced to a total of $20.
I am ONLY paying Verizon for line access. The device payment is gone entirely.
I remain skeptical - but it's possible everyone with a Note 7 on Verizon just got it for free.
THE Verizon Note 7 was not free. You aren't currently paying for it, and you will be refunded everything you have paid. You can also keep it for as long as you want. However, if you upgrade to a new phone at sometime with Verizon, a fire proof box will be automatically sent to your address. If you do not send in your Note 7 at that time, you will be charged the full retail price.
I wonder what would happen if you just switched carriers...
I'm making my return with Samsung itself and taking the $850 plus tax to the bank.. we need to be compensated for Our time and effort to make this switch.. paying for tax and activation fee ? Come on just waive it since it is on file that you paid the tax and pay the difference or bill credit of your new device.. those that had version 1 and 2 should be more annoyed by This... $25 for the time you waste going in and out of Verizon stores and waiting on the phone for a phone rep certainly adds up ... I'm going with Samsungs return and getting the $850 plus tax.. I'm already on a new installment plan with the ip7 plus .. Verizon just told me that if I don't return the device then I don't get my tax and activation fee from the note 7 which is around $120 ...
Can someone actually confirm that they will give you a check once returned ? I can see this backfiring and them getting the device and me not getting my $850
THOSE ON THE INSTALLMENT PLANS SAYING YOU WILL BE CHARGED FULL IS FALSE... you just won't get you tax and activation back..
This is uncalled for.. look how long i have been waiting.. I know have extra evidence of an attempt to exchange on file... hands are cleaner now
is a potential court case for fraud really worth keeping a phone that might meltdown in your closet where it is stored because your never gonna use it?

I'm on an installment plan with Verizon. You're saying if I deal with Samsung directly, lie and say I got my phone on ebay, and send them the phone directly, they'll give me $850 + tax? That doesn't make sense.
Can't Samsung just check the IMEI to see that the phone hasn't already been paid for in full?

You don't even need to say that.. i got off the phone with them .. they check your IMEI and no matter what ; you get the full value of the phone and anything extra on it just include it in a receipt when shipping.. box comes in in 3 days and the check will come in 10-14 days.. pretty smooth transaction..

Buying the Note 10+

So I want to get the Note 10+ 256 GB AT&T version however I am not happy with my current purchase options. I want to buy the phone outright without a plan or commitment. I 100% plan on using the phone personally and not resell it.
However I'm not sure where I can buy it like that. I want it to be the AT&T version so WIFI calling still works.
AT&T wants me to make a 30 month commitment or finance the phone. It is a 0% finance plan but I simply want to buy the phone outright and don't want them running my credit. They want $1099.99 for it
Best Buy requires me to activate a new line or signup new to AT&T which I'm already a customer of to get it for $1,049.99, otherwise it is $1,149.99. Where can I get the phone and not have to pay more because I don't want to sign up for a plan or pay $100 more?
I think you can order direct from Samsung for $1100, or wait for discount in few months. You can buy unlocked and load ATT firmware later or buy with ATT firmware
Also you should be able to buy it on the 24/30 month plan and pay it off as soon as you can. Goes the same if you sign up on best buy.
Not sure how ATT handles the monthly plans but with Verizon you can buy the phone in the monthly and pay the full amount on the next months bill or before as well.
But this will only work if there are no monthly discounts that they sign up if the phone will be the same price if you pay full or monthly then no issues there. It only becomes hard if they add a discount if paid monthly.
That's if you want the ATT but like the above guy mentioned that's another option you have as well.

Actually you can buy it and pay full amount at the att store. I have done it.

I called numerous stores and they won't allow me to. It's a jerk move. If you know of how to please let me know. They insist I finance it

i just went into a store and told them i wanted to buy a phone full price and they did it this was a couple of years ago so they might have changed since then
edit just called my local store and the said yes i could
Just order it from Samsung.com. They have the carrier branded phones on the website, and it allows you to get it in blue if you so desire.
It is really strange that, wanting to pay in full for a device, att does not allow it, rare indeed, try in another location
Oh, if WiFi calling and VoLTE is important to you, make sure you buy the ATT version, not the unlocked version. There's a few threads here where people bought the unlocked version, flashed the ATT firmware, and WiFi calling still would not work. That was an old workaround, but apparently ATT's system now checks the phones IMEI, and it won't allow WiFi Calling to activate.
So you can still buy from samsung.com and pay in full, but make sure you get the ATT version, not the unlocked.

Let me correct myself. Best Buy adds $100 for a total of $1,149,99 if you buy it out right. Not cool

Couldn't you just get the phone on a payment plan, pay the first month as normal and then make a full payment on the second month? I'm with TMobile and they let you make extra payments to bring down you eip (equipment installment plan) balance. Just pay it off, I have done this on prior phones.

You can but I simply don't want to have to get on a payment plan. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops or have them run my credit to get on a payment plan.
I simply want to buy the phone. My Note 8 still works well. Maybe I'll wait till the Note 11+ out of principle. ?
If you are already an ATT customer do not call the store. Go in person (preferably to a "corporate" store that handles small business accounts they are more focused on customer retention).
You should be able to use your cash purchase and continued patronage to get them to see the wisdom of providing you what you need.
Don't be afraid to mention that if they won't satisfy you, you'll l need to look in no other options. Especially useful if you happen to be in or near the renewal time frames.

Seriously, why not buy it from samsung.com?
Why not do the financing and pay it off the following month? It's the same as if you were to pay it off all at once. Most stores do that because they would rather sell the phones to someone who is signing up for service or renewing their service plans with them. They make money off the service not equipment. They feel if they sell it out right then your probably gonna jump ship. I'm not saying that's what your gonna do.
