Fire TV 1 OS5 Rooted Play Store (OpenGApps) without Xposed

Hi all/ @MastahF / @ians325 / @ggow @Vlasp / @MetaIIica / @guyHalestorm / @inwisso / @elliwigy / @peleg / @Lochy19 ,
I have been spending many hours trying to get the Play Store to work by installing the most recent release of OpenGApps on my rooted FireTV 1 OS5 (Unlocked bootloader) without success. I tried both the "Pico" version as well as the "TVStock" version, and every time I try to open the Google Play Store I get the error "This version of the app isn't compatible with your device. To fix this problem, go to Settings and uninstall updates for the Google Play Store app". I also tried various versions of the Play Store vending APK and gms/gsf/gsf.login APKs without success. I have not installed Xposed framework and the HDXposed plugin. Changing values in build.prop did not make a difference.
I was under the impression that the OpenGApps package was designed to overcome these checks and work out of the box but I am not sure if that is correct.
Can you please help me to get the Play Store working on this device? I have spent quite a few hours and cannot get it to work. Preferably, I would like to keep the installations as minimal as possible and from reliable sources to keep it simple and safe.

i have give up with FireTV Devices, the crappest sh** was on market... My Family and i use my Sticks now only in the Kidsroom and in the Kitchen for Zattoo and streaming Youtube and Kodi
I spend my time for a real Android TV-Box was have all what we need to use as real Android Device...

Try to install Xposed mod XInstaller and disable Google Play Auto-Update. that's work for me...

Hi Peleg,
Many thanks for your reply. From what I gather, the only way to get the Play Store functioning properly involves having to install Xposed Framework. I was trying not to do that for security purposes, but I might just have to. To confirm, Xinstaller and HDXposed are both open-source right?

Great, thanks. I was hoping not to INSTALL Xposed but I guess I have to.
Side question for you and @MastahF, do you know in terms of ease of use if the Android TV OpenGApps is better for the Fire TV? Lastly, does this version limit downloading of anything from the Play Store?

@peleg, I did as you said and installed the Xposed framework along with XInstaller and HDXPosed for good measure, and after enabling the options you had sent in your screenshot, I still get the following error when launching the Play Store: "This version of the app isn't compatible with your device. To fix this problem, go to Settings and uninstall updates for the Google Play Store app".
Is there anything that I can do to fix this last issue? I really want to get this thing up and running. I also checked and the Play Store is located within the Phonesky directory and called Phonesky.apk rather than vending, etc.

I think that you're using the version for tablets/phones, I also had that problem and was corrected with the installation of the Android TV version (Google Play Store (Android TV) 7.5.08), you can find it on apkmirror website, also remember to install the google play service (Google Play services (Android TV) 10.2.98) from the same website, best regards.

Check this thread over. Seems they where able to figure things out for the FTV2. Which should easily work on the FTV1. You just need to get the ARM files instead of the ARM64 version of files. Maybe someone can post the completed ARM versions.
If I ever get around to trying it out I will probably share mine. But not sure when that will be. If you get things going on your FTV1 before then. Don't forget to share yours.

Thanks for replying. I finally got it to work for the most part, but I don't know what exactly did the trick. In the end, installing Play Store 4.6.1.7 worked for me in combination with the build.prop tweaks, Xposed w/ Xposed modules, etc. All in all it was a PIA and should not be so complicated IMHO..
Now when I do a search most apps do not appear as if my device is incompatible with them even though my build.prop is all changed for a Samsung mobile handset, and the "My Apps" is empty which is also annoying and means I have to find the app somehow to update it. Lastly, even if I do find the app, many times I cannot click on it no matter which way I move the remote control arrows - very irritating. Let me know if you have any solutions to these last problems. I think the "Mouse Toggle" app solves the inability to click on things, but I don't know about the other two issues...

The mod I linked to uses an Android TV PlayStore. So you should be able to just use your remote to navigate it. Not sure if XPosed is a must or not on it. But that might be another Plus on that option. Not sure.. XPosed & HDXPosed are still required. It just changes the PlayStore package that is installed from regular to Android TV which is better for FireTV's.

xROMx_STOCK_new_FIREoS_Pipataki.... Return to work on stocks, no more ports...

- Step 1 (optional if you want a clean system)... do wipes, (from a simple reset, better when more wipes... but if you wipe data, you'll have to push the files via adb, with a simple wipe system and cache is enaugh)
- Step 2: flash these zips in this order (one by one or all at time, but in this order):
1)- remake.zip
2)- update....4.6.6.1...zip
3)- supersu zip (better 2.82, last one)
4)- remake-aflp.zip
5)- remake-kernel.zip
6)- restart
7)- install the four google apks of shared folder in the usual order
8)- in google store install YouTube and try to open after install it... system will ask you to upgrade Google services, and do it
9)- install google app , google home (optional) and Google chrome
10)- your system is now completly compatible with google like another kit kat device.... so you can install apks that are running under kit kat with normality...

Yes, there is a real problem with streaming of instagram... partially solved with these two apks from Facebook api:
AccountKitSample.apk
AccountKitSimpleSample.apk
(two are in shared folder)

What brings this rom? Currently i am on fire os 4.6.1 and instagram camera with boomerang and super zoom works PERFECTLY. In lineage instagram camera freeze and i can't use it. My problem is that instagram videos on fireos doesn't load, just buffers continously

Seems to be FireOs 5, not only the build.prop., the amazon apps and so on are not the same of 4.6.6.1 (are heavier).... I found this in a system.new.zip file in my computer, maybe becoming from system.new.dat ... I probably had this flie all the time there, but I didn't care...
(Today, maybe, my fire will be repaired... I hope no more askings to test...)

This looks like a firmware which i found on a russian forum. In that forum it says its based on FireOs 5. In their post it says its based on 5.1.1 but on Cpu-Z looks like its 4.4

but is stable?...the api level is upgraded, uses libart so if is stable, is what I'm trying to guess...

There are three versions: with Android Api Level to 22 (unstable)
with Android Api Level to 20 (less unstable, more stable)
with Android Apil Level to 19 (most stable, level is same KK android as stock)

Stop editing build prop
If it is really FIRE OS 5, we need to see new look in stock apps like camera etc

there aren't exactlly the same 4.6.6.1 and these ones.... all apps are heavier than in last stock, and uses libart too... I don't really think that the unstabillity with api 22 was "unstabillity", the issue is the same as in other fire devices of amazon with fireOs 5... is an step up of the normal stock, you could see, uncompress this stock and the stock of amazon and you care that there are diferences.

when will you stop mixing **** together and let people flash faulty roms??
get your phone repaired and then test your soup on your own phone. when you get a booting build newer than whats already released by others, you can make a thread!
but i really think you just hope for poor donaters on your paypal account in your profile.

I agree, so MODERATORS need to do their job, he doesn't evolve with new "uploading roms", he just take space in XDA Servers.
Since 6 months i see him trying to unlock bootloader, making fireos 5 for fire phone, who is based in fireos 4 WHICH MEANS IS NOT POSSIBLE

I found in a folder of previous works system folder modded to kodiak, and what I've seen inside that folder sounds good (seems to be an update of fireos more than fireos 4.6.6.1)...
By another way, I've found at github an updater script for fire phone... the ember-script...so founding safestrapped version with this system folder, maybe this rom could be the definitive in the stock-rom classes, and is rooted and safestrapped too... for installation maybe a normall flash could be enough, not sure...

Good news!!!, working with a fire again since last two weeks... I find the way to make fireOs and google work together... The fireOs voice service, doesn't... But, yes...google voice service is working... (No more tries to upgrade api level, flashable kernel boot img zip, and apps, priv-apps, framework, libs zip...)
In mine seems to work all I said with an stock ROM..

I'll share a video capture in a fiew of my fire with stock... And all recent google issues solved, even instagram... And then, I'll upload files, and steps... This time there is no changes in build.prop ,is kk but all that works in a kk-phone, will run in our kk-fireOS... New kernel, libraries, framework, apps zip updatables (maybe there is no need to flash the ROM and would works with update zips only)

Hey... I know what happends with instagram... instagram now is tumblr... so, dont keep asking about instagram, is going out of phones...
Tumblr works perfect (is the new instagram)... I'll upload a capture in a fiew... with all working... now there are so much traffic here with uploads, so maybe wasnt good streaming...

in this fire all is working perfect in the stock ROM, rooted and without king root residues...safestrap, too (without safestrap app)... and the best is that now i tested all by myself finally in a real fire...
i have to ask all of you excuses, because I couldn't have a device before for tests...
all was maden extracting the system.img from this device, and for that reason I hope this time, this is a good way for us...

Or you can just use the Magisk module for it.

i've been curious about this... when I attempt to load the module from magisk, the viper app states driver needs updated and i follow the prompts but every reboot same dialog stating update driver. after some further reading, i evidently needed to download busybox, also available as a magisk module. ok now busybox and viper... no more "driver update" needed, but i'm not convinced viper is actually working with any setting in the viper app (ultimately im looking for louder headphone volume)

This is the only version I've found that works. Doesn't work well switching between audio sources though.

Have you guys installed the Audio Modification Library as well? This helps a lot with getting V4A to work properly.

I tried it but v4a wouldn't work with it installed. I uninstalled it and v4a started working again.

Installed AML after and it removed Viper app, still see it in Magisk. Deleted everything and now when I install driver, Viper app disappears.
Update: installed APK from OP on that thread. Kept magisk module installed. Working

I keep getting the, update driver for V4A. I've done it like 5 times. I had busybox installed first even. I also installed ViperXHiFi, and it keeps asking for V4A driver to be updated... I'm going to test in my car anyway, but something is off for sure. This didn't happen on my 2 xl.

Yep! I installed V4A through the Magisk module, after SELinux and Busybox and a reboot. In settings, went into developer mode then disabled SELinux. I'm guessing yours works? If yes, what were your steps?

Is this one different than the Viper FX Android Magisk module? The material, 2.5.0.5 or something like that? That's the one that worked on my 2xl, so, I repeated the steps that got it working on my 3xl. I tested in my SUV, and, sure doesn't sound like it's working...

Yes it is different it looks like it's a newer version with the higher number and all....
The FX version would not install the driver. It doesn't work
So I take it you removed all audio mods flashed the module in mm and rebooted. Then you installed the recommended driver when prompted and rebooted? If so, are you sure the driver is installed by checking in the Viper app?

I'm not sure what you are referring to as far as me removing all audio mods? I simply flashed the one version of V4A FX after busybox, rebooted, and I get a prompt every time I open it to install the driver. Every time I do it, it says successful and reboot. When I click no and check the driver status, it shows it's not correct. So, doesn't look like the driver installs at all.
I guess I'll remove it and install the one you posted. If that works, color me happy. Have you tried it with Viper XHiFi? I used that on my 2xl when dolby wouldn't work on Pie. Didn't sound AS good, but still a big improvement, even over just regular viper.

No Netflix HD on Redmi Note 8 Pro - after update on Android 10

Hi guys,
I've been waiting for the Android 10 update so I can watch Netflix in HD, that did not come up, so I've manually updated to this: MIUI Global 11.0.2 Stable, 11.0.2.0 (QGGEUXM) - Android 10 QP1A.190711.020
I've checked on the Netflix app, but the streaming quality is still SD. I've deleted the app data, I've tried different internet connections, I've reset the device, I've reinstalled the app but nothing worked.
I've also tried with older versions of Netflix, still it does not work. When I check the Playback Specification WIDEVINE shows as L3 for some reason, it should be L1.
Can someone please help me with this?

It didn't work at first for me. But uninstalling and re-installing the app fixed it.

same goes here, I received the update via OTA and when I checked Netflix it still doesn't stream in HD. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app and did a factory rest but there's no difference as the streaming is still SD.

clear Netflix app cache and try again. it is clearly mentioned in android 10 notes.

For me clearing cache doesn't help. It's still SD.

Actually, I removed the app and installed it again and now I have L1. It's weird because I've already tried it and it didn't help. Anyway, now I have L1.

Well, I have exactly the same version as yours ,that's very very weird... I guess Netflix still has trouble recognizing the L1 certificate.

No, they lowered the bitrate, HD is still a thing.

As I mentioned before, my first attempt after receiving Android 10 didn't really work. Then I reinstalled the app once again lately and somehow it recognized my phone, so I got L1 cert.

I haven't even got the update yet and it's near mid-April already! (India)

Just download your regional android 10 rom from here https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/firmware/begonia/, copy it in the downloaded_rom folder (create it if it isn`t present) and flash it in /settings/about the phone/systemupdate/ choose update package in the 3-dots menu in the top right corner.

I'm sorry but I have only updated from the MIUI Updater by downloading latest package and force applying it. I've never attempted it your way. Do I have to create downloaded_rom folder in default emulated/0 path or somewhere else? Also, do I have to flash it from the bootloader or what? My phone is unrooted just so you know. Please tell me if there will be any negative implications of this.

I just downloaded the 2GB rom from the official source and installed through the upgrade tool, make sure the default (mi) file manager is enabled and working
I haven't rooted or unblocked the device (yet)

Question Zygisk/MagiskHide Issue

Has anyone been able to successfully use Pokémon Go/Pikmin Bloom since the removal of MagiskHide? I've tried Xposed Modules, Riru modules, and a handful of other things to try and get them to work. I've also tried Google searching for countless hours on other possible ways to get it to work with no luck.

Check the 23011 update released yesterday.

I don't play it but I installed to see if i could replicate your problem but it worked for me. You shouldn't need any modules to get it to work. Test safetynet to make sure you're passing and review the modules you've installed if safetynet is tripping.

Just use magisk 23.0 it works fine even with ob1. As ive said before. And riru dont work with zygisk. At least not now

SafetyNet isn't passing for me. At all. Latest magisk Alpha (Chinese). This is what I'm using currently with Magisk.

Also, this is what I get when I run YASNC. T-Mobile 9 Pro, converted to international, running OB1. Never had this issue before MagiskHide was removed.

Thanks so much for testing. I disabled all modules, rebooted, and checked safetynet (check my latest post) and that's the result I got.

Here's the result from another SafetyNet checking app. First screenshot is with all modules disabled, second is with modules enabled except anything to do with Riru/Xposed.

Hit 1, follow prompts to select fingerprint (just use the 9 pro's, even if the module says you already are), reboot and presto.
