Damaged Z Fold 2 by Olixar Case - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Accessories

Hi all
I joined this forum to ask a question about your Z Fold 2 cases.
I purchased an Olixar Z Fold 2 case from mobile fun, unfortunately they no longer sell it so I cant link to the original
For me, I had the case on (front and back) for about a month before I removed the front case to clean the front screen. Upon inspection i can see light marks/scratches on the left hand side under where the case would sit. I attempted to wipe these away with screen cleaner and micro fibre cloth but with no luck!
So now i have an £1800 phone which has been damaged by a £30 case
Has anyone else had this happen to them?
The front case did seem flimsy, as in the left side flexed and sometimes the case would slide off to the right if i was removing it from my pocket for example.....
As you can imagine, im not very happy!

Even the original Samsung Aramid case collect dust and sand under-need and needs to be removed pretty much daily for cleaning. This may be the case why you have the damage. When I was using my Note 20 as an everyday phone, I cleaned my phone every 2 days and it still makes permanent mark around the camera assembly. I was using Samsung Flip cover case. I can't believe the case itself can make such a damage. Do you have a picture of the case?

From the scratches it appears there has been horizontal movement of the case front. I would imagine the folding and unfolding of the device does this, perhaps even the two case parts bump into each other when the device is unfolded?
The problem with this phone is: third party accessory manufacturers clearly aren't testing their products on actual devices which is bad considering this device is different to your typical phone. I've found this with display protectors, even coming across plastic protectors that don't actually like being folded.
I had my inner screen replaced by Samsung as I dropped something on it and turns out they replace the entire casing (based on the product code on the parts ordered). Samsung didn't actually charge me either despite the fact I told the customer service representative over the phone that the damage was my fault. Food for thought that you can get the casing replaced should your screen become damaged, even if at worst you'll be charged £119.
What have Mobilefun or Olixar said? Clearly this is a flaw in the product.

I actually removed my case (very similar case purchased from eBay) and can see a tiny scratch like this forming after only a week. I imagine if I continue to use it, the same thing would happen to my phone. I think this is why most of these cases have a little rubber or sticky material around this area to prevent sliding, and as a byproduct it collects dust and prevents it from scratching your phone. I'll probably order a Spigen case to prevent this type of damage.

Same here with Spigen case

Did that case damage the screen as well? That some serious malfunction. I've been trying to look for something to protect the front of the phone but it looks like there's a dearth of options.

Bad design by Samsung. Samsung left you with a high dollar phone and no way to protect it.
The idea of not having a case on this phone is absurd to me, yet by design it's extremely hard to protect with one owing to its constant movement whilst unfolding/folding. Predictable.
Samsung should have at least a ruggedized version.
And I though the Note 10+ was bad... I stand corrected.
Note: You can try a trick I use to prevent marring and seal out grit. Stretch teflon tape around the sides of the phone in contact with the case. It helps.
The tape is cheap so play with it until it comes out looking good as the first time might not.

Body Glove mirage case

Hi all,
I picked up the att body glove mirage case for the atrix. I love the case but I noticed that the phone isn't centered in the case and at the bottom of the case right below the menu button I noticed a defect, looks like a melted spot. The att rep said that they all come this way.
Anyone with this case noticed what I am seeing.
Thanks.

Honestly, i would just return it. For one, if they "all" come like that then that's just poor QC and you shouldn't have to deal with it. Second of all, that's what they always say. I had an Inspire and one corner of the screen was lifting out of the frame and I brought it into one store and the rep said that it is common (she even said the iPhone has that problem, yeah right). Anyways, I called customer service and had them notate my account so when I went to another store they HAD to replace it.

If they are ALL like that, then wouldn't it be very good QC ? jkjk
i refuse to buy cases from ATT store, they always seem overpriced, and i am never happy with them, i search the net for cheap cheap ones and i usually find one that is pretty good and breaks the "you get what you pay for" rule...
Are you talking about the notch at the bottom where the microphone is? Right at the bottom center of the screen.

I have the Body Glove Mirage case on my Atrix. The phone is centered fine in it.
The "spot" on the bottom of the case below the menu button is not a defect, at least on mine. It's right at the junction of where the matte finished rim around the display meets the glossy surface of the rear portion. This appears to be a standard mark from the injection molding manufacturing process. (It's where the molten rubber gets shot into the mold.)

Yea.... you'll pretty much see that on any case you get.... just that where you see it will vary from product to product. I have one of those cheapy Argyle TPU cases from eBay, and the spot where the excess from the injection moulding nozzle was trimmed off is right at the bottom of the case, where it starts to round the back of the phone. Just about all mass-produced plastic parts are injection moulded, and in the majority of them you can easily spot the point where it's injected into the mould and was trimmed. Generally it's in a spot where when the plastic is being injected, it will be able to travel the fastest, and reach every space of the mould as accurately as possible. Think with softer plastics though, it doesn't need to be quite as centered as on some stuff, like soda bottle caps, probably due to the material being used cooling at a slower rate.
^ That's definitely it. Here's a pic of it too:

/shameless plug
Doesn't make sense when you can pratically get one for like $5 shipped on eBay. Hell, i think you can get a set of 5 colors for like $13.
Cheap cases from eBay are exactly that- cheap
And? You get MORE than what you pay for. TPU cases don't crack... cause they CAN'T! Granted, it's Argyle..... but hey... it's not a shabby case.
I've purchased cases off eBay and they usually do not hold up as well as cases from the mainstream manufacturers. You get 3+ cause you'll probably need all 3 as they break. Plus you get actual support from the manufacturer if the Mirage, Feather, etc breaks, warps, tears or whatnot.
If you're happy with it, that's great and really its all that matters. But my point is buying a case like the Mirage for a slight premium does make sense, although obviously not for everyone
..... really? Already seen pictures of some other cases having snapped down near the rear speaker. Not the greatest quality video, since i just popped the cover off my phone and recorded it with the phone in not-so-great lighting..... but i think it speaks for the durability of TPU cases.... eBay cheap or retail not-so-cheap.

Gumdrop Drop Tech Case for Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Review

This is my review of the Gumdrop Drop Tech Case for Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Review. Some people might ask "why do you need a rugged case" I simply reply, "why not?" I paid good money for the Galaxy 10.1, money WELL worth it, but I want to protect the device. Aside from the Gumdrop case I recently installed, I also have the ZAGG InvisableSheld Maximum Coverage wrap on it (http://www.zagg.com).
I have always been a fan of rugged cases, starting with the Otterbox Defender I had on my Blackberry 8330. I was disappointed when I contacted Otterbox and found out they had no plans of making a case for the GT101. A few weeks ago I came across the website for Gumdrop (http://www.gumdropcases.com/) and my prayers were answered! I quickly pre-ordered my Gumdrop case for my Galaxy Tablet 10.1, then the waiting began.
I received the case in the mail on Monday October 10th, and was instantly impressed by the packaging it arrived in. Having worked retail for many years, a lot of times you can judge the quality of craftmanship of an item by the package it comes in, this packaging was clean and simple, yet drew attention to it. If I had a storefront, I would have no problem displaying this item on an endcap.

Once I got it opened, it was a bit tricky trying to figure out how to disassemble the case to put my Tablet in it. I was being careful as I didn't want to break anything, which I came to find out would be rather difficult to do to this tablet...
The trick is to start at the top-center and peel the rubber case away from the plastic "shell". Doing so, you can then work around the Tablet and remove the rubber outer layer, which snaps securely onto the shell.
Once the rubber case of off, you then snap the Tablet into the plastic shell. This is a very ridged shell and the tablet snaps extremely securely into place. The shell has the built-in screen protector, so I removed my currently screen protector, which was a ZAGG InvisableSheild which was recently damaged protecting my device, I have a warranty replacement on its way, but wanted to see how this case worked without the ZAGG. Note, I still have the rest of the Maximum Coverage InvisableSheild, which includes back and sides, and it still seemed to fit fine in the case.
I read some reviews about "bubbling" due to the cases built in screen protector (which is replaceable if it ever gets damaged) But I have not seen any distortion what so ever with the screen due to the protector, in fact, it seems alot more crisp and clear then the ZAGG InvisableSheild that was on it.
These next pictures show the shell's fit around the cameras, perfect alignment.
Once I got the shell snapped on, it was time to replace the rubber case. Doing so was fairly simple but wasn't just a case of sliding it over. It requires you to push down around the edges, "snapping" the rubber into the shell. This makes the fit incredible! There is NO play between the rubber case and the hard shell, a problem I often had with my Otterbox cases.
The port covers on this case was something that amazed me. Every Otterbox case I have owned has had the rubber port covers eventually break off, as you can see in the following picture, I do not think this is going to happen with this case any time soon... There is a rather thick piece of rubber holding both the charging port and the headphone port covers on.
So was this case worth the $49.99 I paid for it? Simply put, I would say "Yes". This case might not be for everybody, as it turns a rather slim device into something a little... beefier, I guess would be the best term for it, but in my opinion it did not take away from the portability of the device. If anything, I will take my tablet more places and not have to worry about breaking it...
I am interested to hear from other owners of Gumdrop cases, as well as anyone who has any questions, feel free to let me know!
Thanks!

I agree with all of your impressions of the case and have been enjoying it for a few weeks now as well.
The only bubbling from the screen protector is my own fault as I have yet to remove the Zagg one from the front, which is 100% causing it. Ive just been too lazy to remove it.

I could see how the texture of the ZAGG Shield would cause that... good to know, as I will save my replacement for if I ever want to go case-less.
Patiently waiting for my Military Edition to be delivered. I have the official Samsung case right now, which is decent enough, but doesn't offer a lot of impact protection.
I did have a Zagg shield on the front of my Tab, but I found (with two separate Zagg shields) several thin lines in the shields causing a distortion (very fine lines, like a filament, thin like a human hair). I contacted Zagg and they confirmed this was sometimes a problem with the shields. They did offer a replacement, but then I found out about the Gorila Glass and went without a shield. So far no scratches.
I"Mreally interested in these. How thick does this make the tab? Could I get an actual measurement?

Who doesn't use a case or screen protector?

just asking because the phone is so big. I didn't use either on my SGS II either and had no issues with major scratches or resale. (sold for $405 on Ebay recently) with photographed blemishes with a small scratch and dings on the body. normal wear and tear.
I don't view my phones as jewelry or rare baseball cards. Resale has always been better than if I spent $50 on cases and screen protectors I buy my phones used and don;t worry about a few blemishes. The slim form factor and smooth screen outweighs the need for a perfectly blemish free device. The larger these devices get the less I am inclined to make them even larger.

in fact it could be safer - even with all my paranoia and safety precautions I happened to scratch my previous device - the glass is not sand-resistant

My SGS II was scratched as well but not bad enough to affect it's usefulness or sale. I had one scratch and I really did not baby the device and carried it in my pockets with all kinds of things. The glass scratch resistant not scratch proof. It takes a lot to scratch it though,

It really isn't UNLESS one is OCD about their device and would not be able to sleep if a blemish should occur. One of the reasons I buy used other than to save money is the phone is already marred. The first "door ding" or dent on a shiny new car or guitar is the worst. I don't buy either new either. Maybe I am more OCD than I thought
I always install screen protector and case to my mobile phones. Mostly because I prefer to keep all my device in prestine condition rather than resale value. I find it is less economical to "protect" your device than just leave it as it is. For example, I have spend $200 on different cases and screen protectors during my 1.5 years ownership of iphone 4. I doubt I sell my iphone 4 for $200 more.
But some Note's case provides a functionality in addition to protection. Those wallet case let you store credit card and cash inside so you don't have to carry addtional wallet, which is really appealing.
Mine had fine lines already.... so much abt the glass...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I use a cheap 10 dollar case/belt clip, but no screen protector. I used a Dell Streak for a little over a year. Had a screen protector for about 2 months, took it off and never used one again. I didn't even bother with one on the Note.
After confirming that the screen is gorilla glass, I removed screen protector (it was scratched anyway). Not a single thing visible in the screen glass after 5 months. Of course I do not carry the phone in a pocket with sharp metal objects / sand / industrial cutting tools / diamonds...
The battery cover is another thing, it gets marks (lost texture) where it touches the table. Poor plastic, sorry. Anyway, replacing the battery cover costs the same as a case, and you don't have to cope with the extra size...

Interesting take. I don't know about pulling out all of that every time I want to use the phone though. For those who wear a suit and carry in their jacket pockets might be a great idea than the back pocket. I am leery of carrying a phone that sticks out above my back pocket though. Always carry in the front.

Battery covers are Cheaper than all but the $2 Hong Kong gel cases. I have a White Note prefer a dark one but it was the only one available used at the time. I found one doesn't see blemishes as easily on the back cover. It came with the " Samsung foilio cover" but getting Sand under the screen cover could be a problem here at the beach so I dumped it.
i don't use either of them.... but i'd be happier if I did. Because the back panel of the phone already looks a bit scratched and bruised... whereas the screen has a noticeable thin scratch on it.
But anyways its just a phone after all, and being too obsessive about every small dot or change of it isn't too good for us.
OMG This it very cook thing
I'm just using a $3.50 matte screen protector (pack of three) with a $3.90 neoprene pouch from ebay.
Tried the TPU stuff, but that stuff attracts dust into the space between the screen and the bezel (about 1/10 of an inch opening?). Nasty crap.
i dont use either, never did with my hd2 either
Im thinking about screen protector - but case ? Hell no. I used a case on my iPhone 3G and guess what - the case scratched my screen, resulting in matte spots on the corners.
Just keep the keys in another pocket
My Note is used bare unless being transported in my bag and then it resides in a cheap Shocksock from Ebay ... I used to be fanatical about cases for my phones but hate the extra bulk and I use my car dock several times a day which just isn't practical alongside a case ...
The Notes beauty shouldn't be hidden beneath an ugly case ...
Bare is best in my opinion

[Review] Tuff-Luv Western Leather In-Genius Flip Case

The leather case can be bought directly from the manufacturer's website with FREE worldwide shipping and currently costs £29.99. For an extra £5 they'll use a laser to engrave a custom line of text of your choice.
The pictures on their website are accurate so you get what you see in the pictures.
I won't post high res pictures because I'm not planning on going around the forums making 10 irrelevant posts just be allowed to post external links.
The case comes in a simple plain plastic box, nothing fancy there. The box includes the case, a screen protector, a micro-fiber cloth, a Tuff-Luv plastic card (credit card size) and instruction manuals.

The case is quite large and bulky so it might not suite everybody. It's size is 15x7.5x2 cm (it's thickness grows to 2.5 cm if you have credit card in it). In inches that would be 6x3x0.7 (or 1 inch with cards). In comparison I measured the HTC Double Dip Flip (DDF from here on) which came out to be 14x7x1 cm.
The case has a good feel to it. Everything is soft, the leather is cushioned; you can't stop pushing it and rubbing your hands all over the nice exterior. It's really high quality, the stitching is perfect, it's not heavy, feels comfortable in the hands, and I can confidently say that this will protect your phone like a champ. It comes with two separate holes, one for the back camera (obviously) and one for the noise cancelling mic which while not exactly in the centre of it, was not covered by the case. It doesn't have a hole for the micro-USB port and the stereo jack-in isn't covered at all.
Going on to the interior, we have the hard plastic case that holds the phone in place and on the other side three slots for CC, driver's licence, money etc. The interior is not leather, but cloth.
Everything in the there is a tight fit. It's really hard to push in and pull out credit cards. I put one into each and there wasn't really any room left to squeeze in anything else. Tuff-Luv specifically state that you should only put in three things, one into each slot. While the tight fit can be an inconvenience if you are in a hurry to pull out or put in something, it's necessary as this is the side that will be hanging downwards when you open the flip case. As a bonus you can pull on the strap which in turn pulls out for you the top most slot (essentially the same as how phone pouches work).
The plastic case holding the phone is sturdy and hard. It feels like soft rubber to the touch. Inserting the phone isn't so bad, but getting it out takes some force. I'm willing to bet that the phone would never pop out of this if dropped, which I can't say about the DDF. Especially if you close the flip cover, this becomes a fortress.
You'll lose some practicality here compared to the DDF since it takes more effort to answer the phone and you can't close the flip case while talking on the phone as there are no holes for the front grills. But hey if you're getting a flip case you pretty much expect this anyway.
One IMPORTANT thing that is worth mentioning and which is also recommended by Tuff-Luv is that you should apply the screen protector. The plastic credit card touches the screen and the flip cover has a lot of room to move around which will get your screen scratched over time Gorilla Glass or no Gorilla Glass. That would suck. I didn't apply the screen protector as I'm sure I'd screw it up, the card that Tuff-Luv gives you is included because you'll need it (or your CC is good as well) to apply it.
Another sort of negative thing is that the plastic case holding the phone seems to be too hard and every time I remove the phone I fear that the edges might carve a piece out of the plastic on the phone as the aluminium doesn't exactly overlap it where the two materials meet (and it would suck to scratch the metal part as well), although I'm sure this is just me worrying too much.
Reaching the power button with one hand also got a bit trickier. The phone is big enough as it is, many people complained and we have a tutorial on how to reach the button right here in the forum. Now you have to put your finger over the edge of the cover too, just use your left hand since you have to open the case with it anyway. Pushing the volume buttons got harder as well. You have to apply way more pressure to push them. The problem is that the edge of the plastic case will get in the way; in fact it almost covers the buttons which would be bad. So I'd say this is a minor issue that you should be aware of.
A more serious problem is that it interferes with the camera flash. The case doesn't get in the way of the camera, however when using flash, it affects the photo. I included two photos of a wall, both taken with default camera settings (I reset to default), same light conditions and flash ON. One, where the phone was in the Tuff-Luv flip case and one where there was no case on the phone. As you'll be able to see, one of the pictures has some halos on it. I can't say for sure whether this a design flaw or whether there' s something wrong with the one I received, but I suspect it's the former.
So to summarise, the case is really high quality and offers excellent protection, but has a problem with the flash.
I personally won't use it. This was my first time using a flip case that opens vertically, before this I was either running naked or had a rubber bumper on and I realised this isn't meant for me. Despite the impressive quality, craftsmanship and the added protection, I found the Double Dip Flip to be more practical since it's slimmer, smaller and faster to open. I'm way too lazy . I'm sure I'll regret it once I drop my phone on concrete and DDF fails to protect it, but I'm willing to take the chance.
However if you like vertical flip cases and can look past the issue with the flash, this case is an excellent choice and I can't say this enough, I'm impressed by how well it is crafted.

MOTO 360 full of scratches afer just 1 week

Hello guys.
I had a MOTO 360 for about a week or so.
after just that week of normal use. My screen is full of tiny white scratches,
also, the bottom of the watch, is cracked ( where the bands are .. )
I called the storewhere I bought this watch. They say, its my own fault. And they probably wont want to replace this watch..
Is there something more I can do?
I mean, its gorilla glass 3, it isn't suppose to sratch after 1 week of normal use..
Please help me further?
Thanks!
What are you doing with your watch?! I work in a warehouse and my watch is still good as new the back has for small cracks but that's because of the pebble band
I have had mine for months without any scratches. . This watch isn't made for rugged use.. construction, landscaping, etc
Get it replaced under warranty due to the cracked back.
Then get a Nillkin glass screen protector.
Thanks for all your replies
Im using it like a normal dude. Im sitting behind a computer all day everyday, so that cant be the problem
I got it replaced indeed, due the cracked back
But, I think it comes due the pepple steel band. Is that possible?

There is a thread about cracked backs. It seems its common for the pebble band to cause cracking due to the pressure placed on the plastic 'ears'. The official moto band has plastic spacers which help prevent, although some have damaged those too.
Good you got it replaced. Check out the Nillkin screen protector. Cheap and can barely tell its there.
i don't know if corning 3 still can get scratches, can you confirm it via a photo/ etc?
Recommend that you look at the Steelconnect series of adapters. The M180 is reported to greatly reduce the risk of cracked backs. Gives the Moto a more high end watch appearance in my opinion.
I found that metal contact, such as server racks has not scratched my watch yet. Concrete and stone will more likely scratch due to the presence of quartz chips which cut even Gorilla glass. If you go through doors or elevators that are in placed in concrete, you may have casually bumped against the edge and received the scratch.
Fortunately, most protectors will cover minor scratches.
My moto got replaced a few days back, so I cannot make a photo of the scratches.
But I didn't walk in to something, I'm always very carefully with my new gear..
If i replace the band with a so called 'steelconnect' will the back still crack?
My watch glass has a few scratches.
My workplace has walls made of stone! I presume i have grazed my watch, moving past people as i'm walking up and down the stairs.

I am also worry about my motot 360 will get scratched. Have you fix it now?I saw some tempered screen film for it in the market. But i am not sure whether it can stick on the watch well.

I got this for $10 on amazon and it has worked great. You get six protectors (and a lifetime replacement). The first one I put on was a trial and it worked good but I did not get it on perfect and it started to get some dust on one side so after three weeks I replaced it and got the next one on perfect and it has been great. We are heading on a cruise in a few weeks and will be on some beaches and wanted to be safe against the sand.

I've had mine since launch day and don't have any scratches. You can however get it replaced via warranty for the cracked back. But the steel isnt' scratched or dented. The glass is still flawless. I have worn mine every day all day without issue. I've even knocked it on a few corners as I walk too without issue.
Mine got a few but I'm a perfectionist so I got a screen protector and it looks perfect. I tried a glass protector but it chips and I would rather have soft plastic protecting the 360's glass to absorb impacts. So far it has survived 4 foot drops, stucco walls, and me directly punching the watchface with my knuckles when the tilt-to-wake stops working!

Tempered glass screen protector. Amazon has them for under $10. I hate the feel of plastic screen protectors on a phone, tablet or watch. I much prefer the feeling of glass.
I've had this one for a while now and once on, it stays put. Link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VWV74W8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I agree I loved the smoothness of a glass protector, and how you could wipe a glass protector with a rough paper towel and it would come out perfect! But the thing is the glass will transmit the force of an impact directly to the 360's screen, and eventually you get a nasty chip in glass protectors.
A plastic protector will adsorb impacts and won't chip no matter how bad the impact, it just protects the 360 (and gets little scratches, but only in the plastic) These ones have a good non-sticky feel and for 2 for $15 I just replace them when they get too scratched up: http://www.powersupportintl.com/brilliant-film-for-moto-360/
Thx. But I have no access to that link for the screen film u left for me. Is it $10 for 6pcs? is it a tempered screen film ?

thx.But the link you left is not available now. So i am unable to see the detailed information. Could you pls send it to me again? If it looks well. I would like to buy one for a try.
I recommend a tempered glass protector. Have a look at the attached picture. That is how horrible my protector looks. The screen underneath is still flawless.
The cracked back isnt just a byproduct of using a Pebble band. I have the official Motorola metal band and guess what...2 small cracks coming from the base where the band meets the watch. Another factor that can contribute to it would be how tight you wear the watch, and the position on your wrist. Is it above the wrist gone near your hand or behind etc.
