PATCHED BOOT.IMG for MERLIN by VD171
For what do I need it ?

Keep attention, it is not pre-rooted.

Please, edit your post if you need to increment it and avoid dupes.
MD5 hash of stock rom boot.img for V12.0.4.0.QJOMIXM (global) is: e6a904938cf6ea3ed5d040ae69115131. And for V12.0.4.0.QJOINXM (india) is: 096d8d46ca1612f0ff13863fed7cf6e5.
So, they are NOT identically.
I've patched your requested boot.img. It's attached, you can download it.
Enjoy

This is the official stock rom boot.img just patched.
It is not rooted.
For boot.img prerooted, you have to flash the magisk patched boot.img:

I've replied with files for V12.0.4.0.QJOINXM.

Official stock rom boot.img and magisk patched boot.img are equivalent.
The second is just rooted.
You can have only one boot.img flashed.
This boot.img patched by me helps people that need to keep TWRP, or any other custom recovery, together official stock rom boot.img. Otherwise the custom recovery will be overwritten.

will this work on 12.0.9.0 QJOEUXM???
there's been a couple of years that I don't use custom ROMs so I'm a little rusted..

Hi, @VD171 I realise you must have very good control of your Redmi Note 9 merlin! ! Thank you for these patched boot.img - very good idea.
Where I have got to is that I have learned that on Linux Debian Buster I can get back to a reliable base MIUIV12.0.3.0. QJOMIXM by
flash-all.script
from within the ROM. (Other readers should understand how + why that might work before trying!)
I now see that V12.0.3.0 is not one that you regularly list. My question is really about this numbering. Is there a base version of the ROM that you favour, that gives the user best control of the device?
Thanks in advance, and many thanks for curating these threads.

Good work, my friend.
You are welcome

Hi! Thanks for all the things you have shared for this phone. I got an issue every time i flash this patched boot.img i get stuck in a bootloop, and the only way to get out of that is to flash the stock boot.img again. Any ideas why this is happening?

No.
It will work perfectly.
I am at V12.0.6.0 with older LK.
If you are using V12.0.5.0 or higher, TWRP will not work.
If you want to keep TWRP working on V12.0.5.0 or higher, you need to flash the stock rom lk partition using V12.0.4.0 (or lower). (It will works perfectly with lower lk partition version).
If you want to disable TWRP, you need to flash stock rom recovery partition.
Here, are RECOVERY images for flashing: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...omi-redmi-10x-4g-xiaomi-redmi-note-9.4209279/
If your device keep booting in recovery (or blackscreen), you need to erase misc partition.
Here, is the guide for erasing MISC partition: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...omi-redmi-10x-4g-xiaomi-redmi-note-9.4209295/

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure about how to install a custom rom.
Personally, I really prefer original and untouched stock rom.

LK-V12.0.4.0.QJOMIXM does NOT work with firmware V12.0.1.0.RJOMIXM.
You need to flash LK-V12.0.1.0.RJOMIXM again using spflashtool.

Code:
LK (Little Kernel) is a tiny operating system suited for small embedded devices, bootloaders, and other environments where OS primitives like threads, mutexes, and timers are needed, but there’s a desire to keep things small and lightweight. On embedded ARM platforms the core of LK is typically 15-20 KB.
LK is available from https://github.com/littlekernel/lk and is Open Source software, provided under the MIT license.
LK is the Android bootloader and is also used in Android Trusted Execution Environment - "Trusty TEE" Operating System.
Newer Android phones have some chance of LK running all the time alongside Linux.
A few ARM SoC manufacturers use LK as their default bootloader such as DragonBoard 410c based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor.
The Fuchsia Operating System’s microkernel, Zircon is based on LK.

hello, is there a scatter file for EEA rom?
when my phone got hard bricked and I followed the hard brick guide it seemed to have corrupted my phone model because now its m2003j15sc instead of m2003j15sg and I believe this could be the problem

Don't worry with that.
I have one m2003j15sg and one m2003j15ss, but both now are m2003j15sc after flashing the rom manually.
RJOMIXM and QJOMIXM means GLOBAL ROM, so if you are using them, you should flash GLOBAL ROM.
Personaly, I prefer to use global rom because this is "default for everyone".
Enjoy

Question How do I flash a recovery rom without a custom recovery?

Hi y'all
I know that fastboot roms can easily be flashed with the miflash tool but recovery roms can only be flashed with twrp or another custom recovery. So how do I flash a recovery rom for the pad 5 when there's no custom recovery? I wanted to test out the MIUI 13 beta but I can't install it via miflash or the system updater since I'm on global rom and not china rom.

Anybody ask for GSI
I take the time to provide a useful link for someone who is too busy to search for themselves and get an aggressive sarcastic reply. C'est la vie.
When you flash the stock ROM with miflash tool, the stock recovery will also be flashed. There are tools that can extract or dump the recovery.img file from fastboot ROMs but I don't know if there is one for Xiaomi.
I asked around and was told it's not possible to flash an internal rom without a custom recovery.
So here's a MIUI 13 Chinese Stable Fastboot ROM:
https://bigota.d.miui.com/V13.0.3.0.RKXCNXM/nabu_images_V13.0.3.0.RKXCNXM_20211228.0000.00_11.0_cn_1d92f2dc98.tgz
Any idea how to flash this?
I installed the latest adb/fastboot packages from google, unlocked my Mi pad, booted into fastboot and then used the flash_all.bat file from the fastboot zip which runs through completely until I get a bootloop on MIUI logo.

first you have to check what's inside recovery ROM, if it's a payload.bin you have to extract it. if system_new.dat you have to convert it to spare image (tool available on forum) if you have all the images you can use this tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/script-auto-fastboot-flash-all-for-any-device.4467687/

Search in telegram group "Xiaomi pad 5 discussion", I uploaded patched boot there or PM me @Shirubyo

You should really learn to use XDA properly, or even learn how to Google properly, instead of asking questions like this.
You can easily download the Fastboot ROM from plenty of sources. Inside the fastboot ROM, you'll find the boot.img.
