Question How do I flash a recovery rom without a custom recovery? - Xiaomi Mi Pad 5

Hi y'all
I know that fastboot roms can easily be flashed with the miflash tool but recovery roms can only be flashed with twrp or another custom recovery. So how do I flash a recovery rom for the pad 5 when there's no custom recovery? I wanted to test out the MIUI 13 beta but I can't install it via miflash or the system updater since I'm on global rom and not china rom.

Anybody ask for GSI

I take the time to provide a useful link for someone who is too busy to search for themselves and get an aggressive sarcastic reply. C'est la vie.

When you flash the stock ROM with miflash tool, the stock recovery will also be flashed. There are tools that can extract or dump the recovery.img file from fastboot ROMs but I don't know if there is one for Xiaomi.

I asked around and was told it's not possible to flash an internal rom without a custom recovery.

So here's a MIUI 13 Chinese Stable Fastboot ROM:
https://bigota.d.miui.com/V13.0.3.0.RKXCNXM/nabu_images_V13.0.3.0.RKXCNXM_20211228.0000.00_11.0_cn_1d92f2dc98.tgz
Any idea how to flash this?
I installed the latest adb/fastboot packages from google, unlocked my Mi pad, booted into fastboot and then used the flash_all.bat file from the fastboot zip which runs through completely until I get a bootloop on MIUI logo.

You can flash this with the official Mi flash Tool. You must extract the tgz File to folder. Then flash with the Tool and then have fun.

You can't flash it but you can update to china weekly update via Updater app with magisk module.

first you have to check what's inside recovery ROM, if it's a payload.bin you have to extract it. if system_new.dat you have to convert it to spare image (tool available on forum) if you have all the images you can use this tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/script-auto-fastboot-flash-all-for-any-device.4467687/

Already installed. You have to install this modulo and download the rom version of the beta. Install it manually throw the three dot in the update miui window and upgrade to the closed beta. I already tried it but i think at the moment the china 11 is better

step-by-step how to install the MIUI 10 - PIE without losing the data?

Can anyone provide a step-by-step how to install the MIUI 10 - PIE without losing the data?
Each one I ask passes me different information and I can not come up with a solution.
I am using MIUI 8.1 and I have installed Recovery Oragen Fox 9.0.1. What do I have to do to install MIUI-PIE now?
If I want to go back to MIUI-OREO, what do I have to do?
Thank you.
Download xiaomi.eu rom, delete everything besides internal storage, flash xiaomi.eu zip, and boom miui Android 9
Also, if you want to go back you will have to flash global 10.2.2 via xiaomi flash tool

use a previous version of orangefox one for oreo. i beleive 9.0.1 has pie support. if you use this youll end up in fastboot screen.
so use oreo twrp not new ones that support miui pie..
follow rom installation then flash with oreo support twrp. when it boots. then install now orangefox with miui pie support. follow instructions and flash.
to go back you need a fastboot rom and mi flash.. as long as you use same ARB use masik xiaomi.eu they are firmware less.

Downloading an EEAROM for use with Xiaomi Mi Flash Redmi Note 8T

Hi all,
First of all please bear with me as I am a total noob when it comes to Android let alone the Redmi Note 8T I have just purchased the phone and now waiting for the 360 hours to expire. Tick tock...
So in preparation I have been looking for ways to flash my phone to the MIUI EEA ROM (I have a global version running global ROM). I know MIFlash should be able to do the trick, but it seems to me there are two types of ROM files - one for the OTA update (i.e. so you would copy the file over to the phone, then use the system update feature within the phone's setting to invoke the update process), and another type of ROM files for use by MiFlash.
Assuming this is true, so far I could only manage to find the OTA update ROM for EEA:
h<spacer>ttp<spacer>:/<spacer>/en.miui.com/download-361.html#588 (sorry new users aren't allowed to post links hence this. Please copy and delete the spacers)
Does anyone know where I could grab a copy of the EEA ROM that I could use with Mi Flash so after my phone eventually gets it bootloader unlocked, I could proceed with the switch from Global to EEA?
Or am I getting this whole concept wrong?
Thanks and cheers !

well...if you want to change to another region rom then using phone's updater app won't help...you have to flash through mi flash.

Use eu, xiaomi.eu
If you willow (Note 8T) choose stable version because willow doesn't have weekly build.
so it must be this link.. https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi...HMNote8T_V11.0.7.0.PCXEUXM_v11-9.zip/download
and you need root and unlocked bootloader to install it via twrp.

I'm not sure that this is the resource on which this loader is. From personal experience I can say that I tried it on my phone. Tried PitchBlack.img But it does not detect a micro sd card, and it's not about formatting the partition. On the official website https://twrp.me/ not recovery for Lisa. The one I posted works exactly.
About the twrp on lisa...
Downloaded the twrp from https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=324804 and it's the same as WizardPhoenix. Now, my lisa is global and unlocked. Other than that so far nothing additional (such as twrp, yet), except of course the ADB enablement. To install twrp to the bootloader, I followed the instructions from https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimi11lite5g.html which is from renoir (since they don't have any page ready about lisa). Of course, things could be different for lisa installation-wise.
I'm at the point after the instructions saying "fastboot boot twrp.img". I did it, it boots twrp ok from the file, I go to "Advanced > Flash Current TWRP" but it finishes with an error. I don't want to try the alternative way, since the instructions are for renoir. I suspect that the error is due to perhaps lisa has two slots (I could be wrong tho).
So any instructions to properly install twrp 3.6 to lisa on a freshly unlocked Xiaomi mi 11 5g NE?

Tried on my Lisa, TWRP does not read Internal memory (although it asked for unlock pin)
There is a SHRP thread here on XDA, SHRP recovery properly supports Internal memory and USB - highly recommend to use that SHRP for Lisa.
In the SHRP thread's OP post #1 there is a TG channel link, everybody can directly ask SHRP developer there

On mine, it seemed to read the internal memory (when in boot into TWRP, it can see everything). It just couldn't install itself. I ended up installing the custom xiaomi.eu ROM (ditching the original stock Global rom) but still I'm waiting to see what to do about TWRP.

I've got 12.5.9, went out 1-2 days ago. Indeed it's fastboot ROM, that's why I'm trying to install twrp, just to be future-proofed.
Only working recovery that decrypt internal storage successfully and has usb otg support is SHRP , it is for Android 11
My device is not reading any recovery. I'm on EU 22.3.3 version.
Tried both SHRP and Lineage Recovery but it keep getting stuck on MIUI logo, not booting into recovery. Then to boot into system again I have to flash EU fastboot ROM.

No custom Recovery supports A12 yet. That's the reason your Xiaomi.eu is Fastboot ROM, not TWRP

Search in telegram group "Xiaomi pad 5 discussion", I uploaded patched boot there or PM me @Shirubyo
Dunno why I can't see attached files here
You should really learn to use XDA properly, or even learn how to Google properly, instead of asking questions like this.
You can easily download the Fastboot ROM from plenty of sources. Inside the fastboot ROM, you'll find the boot.img.

Question Xiaomi EU to Official Miui

Only if you flash the same version or higher.
I just ran the latest weekly and it works like a charm , your twrp should be 3.7 skkkk and you can install miui 14 recovery global through twrp but I would suggest a format and not a dirty flash since your going from a china rom to a global have funnnn!
There are 2 TWRP(SKK):
1/twrp-3.7.0_12-v7.2_A12-alioth
2/twrp-3.7.0_12-v7.2_A13-alioth
His system is currently in A12, he can continue with version 3.6.2 12 or update it to 3.7.A12 and flash an A13 recovery rom.
Or use Miflash *** and lock the bootloader, which will avoid rooting + magisk to have the playstore certified.
***Erases your data and only if not K40.

Like you want.
Won't re-lock and you will need to install TWRP A13 after flash.
I'd reckon you try a fresh install on Xiaomi.EU's latest rom first before flashing to the Global version.
Most bugs and glitches are fixed with a fresh install of Xiaomi.EU.
By fresh install I mean use XiaoMiFlash (Fastboot) to the latest official China stable rom (14.0.5.0), then wipe all via TWRP and then Fastboot flash the latest Xiaomi.EU rom (14.0.5.0).
For me; Global rom is too bloat, has too many features missing and less smooth versus Xiaomi.EU's rom.

Not much use since for a first installation you must format the data with the Twrp or use the first install.bat script included in the folder extracted from the zip.
Right, my bad. Clean install is the way to go though, Devs at Xiaomi.EU always recommended this to me versus dirty flash.
I clean flash with every major update, except from 12 to 12.5 (no Android change) with Xiaomi.EU's roms.
