Any setting or module that allows screen to be turned off by double tap? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

How can I customize my phone to turn off screen by a double tap somewhere, like at the top on the notification bar? On my old phoneI could do this and I think it may have been an option in Gravity Box. I know there's the option to turn off the screen when double taping an empty area on home screen. But I would prefer something more accessible. Anyone know of any working Magisk modules that allow for this customization?

You can do this natively via motion & gesture settings if you are on One UI 3.0

Sorry if I wasn't clear but I mean from any screen, not just the home screen. I think it was an option in gravity box to double tap the status bar at the top to turn off the screen.

The closest setup I could find was One Hand Operation, by Samsung. You are not double tapping, but you can swipe from ANY screen.

[IDEA] Slide to Rotate

[IDEA] Slide to Rotate !
Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience in programming but I have got an idea of a software - SLIDE TO ROTATE -
a slider, just like of the famous software -SLIDE TO SHUTDOWN -, but the slider is in the middle this time
Sliding to the right causes clockwise rotation
Sliding to the left causes anti clockwise rotation
Cute?, right ?
Wat do you mean by rotating?
rotating the screen?
What hardware key would you use to toggle the slide screen?
Great Greet Giblet
there's a program to make it!
WKTask (it only works on wm6.1). it will replace htc task. settings\"action": slide to rotate! than...just slide the top bar left\right or up\down to rotate the screen!

I know about WMTASK, but i meant a software with an actual slider that you can move.
with so many ideas for "slide to..." popping upp, i think the best thing to do would be "Slide to choose action"

do you know SLIDE2SHUTDOWN?
-------------------------------
A shortcut could be put from my 'idea software' on the today screen, clicking on this shortcut will popup a slider to be used as suggested earlier.

I think that he mean not to use any hardware key, just the screen. To rotate just tap anywhere on the screen and rotate (slide) clockwise to rotate the screen. Right?
fltouch allows to associate an action to a gesture, above all sliding over today tab.

[Q] Can I disable the lockscreen?

When I press the home or power button to wake up my phone, I would like to go straight to the home screen without having to swipe across the lockscreen first. Any way to do this?
I think settings/lockscreen then top option you can choose none. Instead of swipe.

[Q] Hiding soft keys quickly

First off, let me say that I love that the G3 comes with a setting to hide the soft keys. The only complaint I have is it takes too long to go away once you bring it up. If you don't know what I mean go into an application bring it up and go home and see how long it stays.
I used an application called UND Navbar and it works great, you can choose to hide the bar as soon as you press a button. The only downside is the fact that you can't use the split screen and other button combinations the g3 has, you're stuck with the traditional soft keys.
Is anyone aware of an app or an Xposed Module that would allow me to have the navigation bar hide once I click one of the buttons?

Hey dude i was using UND aswell problem is its quite slow, and often it glitches or buttons dont work.
I tried many methods, by far the best one is "Auto hide soft keys" off the market - its VERY snappy and you can adjust the miliseconds for it to minimize OR just get it to minimize once you hit the key.

UND was lightning fast for me but the problem was it doesn't give you the split screen and drop down options that the lg soft keys have. It's the same problem with GMD.

How do you get it to work? It disappears from the bar when I turn the app on.

Go to the recents window, select Dual Window - Slide first app UP - slide 2nd app DOWN, use as normal, touch the bottom when you want the nav bar to reappear.
Okay, that makes sense. I feel pretty stupid right now considering I see that option every single time I go to the recents window.

Is There A Screen Off and Lock App ?

Is there a simple app/apk that allows for a single screen tap to close and lock the display, instead of waiting for the screen to timeout or requiring the power button to be pressed? I tried a couple apps, from the Play Store, but uninstalled them. My hope is to avoid needing to use the Power button to shutdown the screen before putting the phone into a pocket or case. I am just setting up the phone today.
i did this with Custom Navigation Bar: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.paphonb.systemuituner

Interesting. will have to give it a try. Thanks.
Try Power Toggles, there is a switch allowing you to lock the screen with one tap. Forgot to check if the result are similar to the one you can get from Nova launcher - with the launcher you can lock the screen using two methods, one locks the phone immediately but prevents you using fingerprint reader to wake up the phone, the other does not have this issue, but actually locks the screen 5 seconds after switching it off. I'll try to check it today and report here.
EDIT: Nope, 5 secs are required.

Is double tap to turn off screen possible

As the title suggests is it possible to double tap on empty area of Home Screen to turn the phone off just like we use Double tap to wake the phone.
This was an inbuilt feature on Asus Zenfone 5z and seems counter intutive to have only one option to turn the screen on and not off here.
Regards
One option; with Nova launcher
Yes, likely via custom ROMs.
Also, probably via custom launchers. Nova Prime allows double-tap to "lock screen". Double tap to "screen off" very likely via a specific 'Nova activities' option but I haven't figured this out yet.
EdXposed ---> install GravityBox ---> it's then possible to turn screen off via double-tap on lock screen or via double-tap on status bar.

You can use edge screen. SoftKey Edge. There is a lock option. It is not double tap but it works.
you can add the screen off icon at navigation bar with a samsung app called Navstar, with that you can single tap to turn off the screen
Good Lock - Navstar adds a navigation button to turn the screen off

I dont see any gestures for that in nova launcher?
You must have the prime license, in gestures&inputs there are multiple options to choose from, for each gesture you can choose any action available, you can even have the same action assigned to multiple gestures, I use one finger down to lock, and also double tap to lock

As i already have Nova prime, this worked perfectly. Thanks.
Nice just learned something new. Used nova star and added screen off and notification bar button. Now I have 5 buttons readily available.
Wish you could open and app with a button. That way I can reserve the power double tap for another app.

Feeling seriously numb right now. I've used Nova (Prime) for years, and never knew that was there. Searched all over for a good program to sleep/ lock. Found a very simply one (Screen Lock Widget 1.0) which is no longer available, but I have. Works great. No resources used. But having the ability in Nova is great.
So.....thank you for sharing that. It's the simple things in life.
It makes no sense why Samsung would give us the means to tap awake our screen but not add that option to turn it off.
That was a weird decision for not including double tap to sleep. It's like making an automatic car with clutch where the clutch is only used for the reverse lol.
Anyhow, this is by far the best app on the playstore that can put the phone sleep and still use the default One UI.
The nice thing about it is that you can also tap on the status bar to put the phone to sleep while using an app for instance.
Tripe tap on the home screen is recommended though, you'll understand why after using it for a while

That is very interesting, I never use always on display and it seems like the Note 10 has a lot of issues. For instance Samsung voice recorder app doesn't play recorded audios while the screen off( stops playing after 2min or so).

I just tried Nav Star app from within Good Lock (From Samsung App store) and added 2 extra buttons.
Thanks to the user who recommended it earlier, now I can turn off phone as well pullbdown notification bar from the Navigation bar, if I can get used to these extra buttons I might as well keep them.
Yes software wise they do need to improve a lot of things here.
1. First Install Good Lock :
http://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.android.goodlock
2. Then Install Nav Star : http://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.systemui.navillera
Well, very useful indeed, but I prefer hiding the nav bar, just to avoid screen burn in and to get some more screen area
