Hello all, sorry if I've happened to missed the guides.
I've rooted a few phones in the past and installed custom rooms, however, I do so infrequently and every time things change.
I only have a loose grasp of GIS roms, so I'll just let that one slide.
I have the mi A2 lite (obviously) and would like to root it or get a custom room that works well.
I don't mind stock, since it is not bloated.
I installed twrp, upgraded from android 8 to 9, then twrp disappeared.
I've read somewhere that I need to disable encryption for twrp, but maybe that's no longer possible that I'm on Android 9.
If I stay stock, will or will I not be able to continue OTA?
TL;DR: Hoping for a basic guide for how to root. I wouldn't mind custom rom, but stock is fine.

You dont have to install TWRP for root
You could install magisk and get OTA updates

I have just bought Poco F3 (Global variant), and have tried unlocking bootloader, and currently awaiting 168 hours. i have few queries if you brief me since this is my 1st Xiaomi device, coming from simple & easier Oneplus 5,
1) If i change to another pc to unlock bootloader after 168 hours, or if my old pc died, will the counter restart in case of changed PC?
2) I have problem and confusion in getting current stable TWRP since the forum is mixing things up for me probably because of my lack of knowledge, so basically, i want TWRP for my MIUI v12.5.2 Global, through which, i can flash ROMs or mods for my likings, so if you guys link to current stable TWRP, it would be really great.
3) I also read that if we flash Magisk, TWRP's removed, and if we flash TWRP, Magisk will be removed, so the above current twrp version has fixed this? initially, i just want to flash magisk to root official pre-installed miui os, after sometime, i will go to custom ROMs.
4) Last question, how can we flash stock miui ROM, are we only able to flash stock miui through fastboot or now also possible via TWRP?.
I Would appreciate if you clear the above query, i have searched a lot, but things gets confusing for me, and can't make it clear which twrp, or method to flash will work. so having to ask you. Hope you will understand.

1. As long as you login with the same account and not before the 168 hours passed, you are ok to continue the process. The countdown is linked to your mi.com account not to your PC.
2. TWRP 3.5x is ok. It doesn't really matter what MIUI version you use, you can install some custom ROMs but SOME custom roms require different Custom Recoveries and ADB on windows (havoc, Arrow... have their own process.) Read recommended procedure carefully for each ROM because they differ.
3. That happens to idiots that DO NOT READ ISTRUCTIONS all the way. Some ROMs require installing TWRP twice. Once to boot (temporary) and again later in a permanent manner using a different method. Each ROM has step by step procedure so problems can be avoided. After you permanently install TWRP you can install magisk (usually using boot image). If you are not careful you install TWRP, install new ROM and find out you reverted to last recovery or only have fastboot and you have to start all over.
4. DO NOT FLASH MIUI USING TWRP. EVER!!! IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE PERMANENTLY and you will need EDL Authorized Service.
Only use OFFICIAL MIUI FLASH TOOL to return to Original MIUI OS (RECOVERY OR FASTBOOT VERSION). All 2021 Xiaomi phones have a antirollback protection to prevent you to return to Original software. Only some versions of MIUI can be installed on some versions of thehe smartphones. Ex. My Poco F3 (eu) accepts reinstalling only MIUI 12.0.4 and update afterwards to 12.5.3.
Oficial Mi Flash TOOL prevents you to install the wrong software and to brick your phone
TWRP doesn't care about this Rollback Protection, forces MIUI installation regardless and bricks your phone permanently. Only official service can bring it back to life afterwards for 30 to 100 usd

Ohh I see, the last answer has opened my eyes, this is why it is always better to ask some loyal people if something's new, so the EU ROM in their forum should also be flashed only via mi tool? Regardless of the instructions in that forum where they say in instructions that we install twrp and then flash EU ROM and we are done...so is that right procedure or not applicable to 2021 devices like you said? (Asking this because EU roms are also custom but based on miui stock)

remember to always backup your data and files to pc because unlock BL, and some rom require format data including internal storage so.. ya backup to pc. even they not instruct to format internal storage, just in case you need to because the storage is encrypted by default

Beginners step-by-step guide to installing Xiaomi.EU on POCO F3?
I have finally unlocked the bootloader (no guides mention it will wipe my phone at the same time!). Now I am looking again at Roms, HentaiOS and ArrowOS were contenders but Xiaomi.EU sounds like the best of all factors, a Poco F3 centric...

I never installed Xiaomi EU or One OS.
The two main reasons I don't use any MIUI based OS are:
1. those annoying 10 seconds of waiting for almost every permision required by a lot of apps;
2. the main reason, because i like to use Nova launcher combined with gesture navigation. The Stock Android 11 does not allow users to disable navigation buttons outside of the Stock MIUI/Poco Launcher.
Also I am not 100% sure if Widevine L1 certification works in Xiaomi.eu. I know there were issues at one point.
That is needed for using streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video.... in FullHD, and also, maybe most importantly, is needed for Banking/Payment apps, including Contactless (NFC) payments.

This is really advance and I didn't get all the points he mentioned.
So can you guys please simplify it:
After unlocking bootloader, I will only root stock miui already installed, I boot to recovery via fastboot, install into ramdisk select twrp file, and then flash magisk?
I will install unofficial miui like oneos or EU after sometime, what should be the correct method, via twrp or fastboot?

I state, every modding operation is not without risks because you touch crucial parts of the system and unexpected events can happen as happened to the guy in the post, so you have to pay close attention to what you do, you don't have to be in a hurry and you have to make sure to have a PC with all the drivers and that the system is stable, otherwise any interruption of the flashing process, for the most diverse reasons, compromise the integrity of the phone and the only way to save it is to bring it to assistance.

These multiple guides with different processes have actually confused me initially exactly what I wrote in the main post, I have read carefully all the guides you have linked, so I will follow any of the guide I feel okay with, have a time up to Friday for completion of268 hours

Sorry, you're right, I've posted too many things that may have confused you.
do so, install twrp following the guide I posted above, (works fine).
Then, the fastest way to root is this, try it first and let us know if it worked, if not we will find a solution together.
