How to I tell the difference between a lucked HD1907 and an unlocked one? - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

Hi, I want to buy a unopened HD1907 t-mobile version from third party. How do I know if this is SIM locked or like the one sold on Amazon factory unlocked?

If it is an unopened 1907 then it's sim locked to T-Mobile. The factory unlocked model is 1905.
There are at least 3 guides on how to convert from locked T-Mobile to unlocked international
https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/oneplus-7t-guides-news-discussion.9252/

I have a fresh out-of-the-box HD1907 that is carrier unlocked. It was a holiday deal for $300. If you go to
Settings > WiFi & Internet > SIM & Network > Network Unlock it tells me:
"This mobile device is permanently unlocked and can be used with any carrier!"
This is hard to check without the device in hand, but I can attest that there are unlocked 1907s that are unlocked right out of the box.

Where did you get it and are you sure it is brand new from the factory? I believe the T-Mobile software builds end with HD63CB.
Many resellers bought the 1907, flashed a different build, then resealed the packages and sold them as new.
1907 is the T-Mobile version and is factory locked to that carrier (https://www.oneplus.com/oneplus-7t-tmo & https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/oneplus-7t-guides-news-discussion.9252/)

B&H Photo Video in NYC which is a very reliable store were selling them new, but opened where they had each and everyone they sold unlocked for the customer. no other modifications made to them.

I got it from B&H Photo. It seemed factory new. The box was still wrapped in plastic. They were selling them for $300 around Christmas time. The build number is 10.0.12.HD63C. It was advertised as a new, unlocked, T-mobile branded 7T and as far as I can tell, that is what I got. They still have the listing, but it is marked as discontinued.

I'll be darned, looks like you're probably right.
Note! This is the OnePlus 7T HD1907 Model. This model has been factory unlocked by OnePlus before shipping. There are no carrier locks or logos. All updates will be from OnePlus directly. The bootloader is ready to be unlocked. This version will not work on Verizon.

In the 1+ community forums they said the 1905 was the only unlocked model sold in the US. Maybe they meant sold direct to consumer.

Where to buy Unlocked LG G4?

It seems like all of the of the carriers have released the LG G4 locked to the carrier, but where can I purchase it unlocked, so that I can switch between carriers?
Does Best Buy sell it unlocked?
I'm in South Florida, USA.
Thank you.
Best place so far, and several have got them from this seller on ebay here at XDA

Looks pretty legit, do you have a link to satisfied customers on XDA?
Thank you for the link.

He is selling the Asian version.
The only one with an unlockable bootloader (right now) is the EU version. (if that matters to you)
I suppose I'm confused about the differences. I'd like to be able to root/unlock the bootloader - which will allow me to install custom ROMs/modifications?
But my main concern at the moment is being able to switch carriers - for example from Sprint to T-Mobile.
I dont think you can go from sprint to t-mobile. Sprint is CDMA and T-Mobile is GSM
Also good to know the 815 isnt universal, had no idea. WAY to many SKUs on this phone!!
The Asian version at that link will run on T-Mobile, AT&T or any other GSM provider just fine. It won't run on Sprint or Verizon.
I have an unlock one up gor sale on swappa. Check for Fidelio_o
No one is selling an unlocked version. An unlock is not even available (for the US variants).
I got the unlocked version from that eBay listing. Using it on AT&T. Love it.
Does 815 have quick charging?
Does anyone know if 815 model comes with quick charging?

Im using my anker quick charger and it works just fine.
B&H Photo will have them around June 20. $629 for non-leather, $699 for leather.

That's one of the questions I also have. If I buy the unlocked version will it be compatible with both AT&T & T-Mobile. And by compatible I mean will I get full 4G LTE speeds while using on either carrier. I currently have a unlocked branded T-Mobile HTC One M8 but I don't get AT&T's LTE when I put in one of their SIM cards.

It's not an AT&T branded model that was unlocked after purchase. It's a factory unlocked model. As in, not carrier branded, was never locked to begin with so didn't need to be unlocked.

Bootloader unlock is available for the h815 but you just blew your warranty if anyone is selling g4s with unlocked bootloaders i would be careful as there is no warranty lg has already stated once you unlock the bootloader your warranty is blown.

Dude, I have an H815. The bootloader is not unlocked. Factory unlocked refers to the phone not being locked to a specific carrier, not the bootloader. It works on AT&T and T-Mobile and any GSM carrier I want. And I didn't have to do any unlocking myself to get it carrier unlocked. It came that way from the LG factory, hence the term "factory unlocked". LG sells this model that way. Warranty in tact.
here http://www.handtec.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?order=most_viewed&dir=desc&cat=0&q=lg+g4
real EU variants
Ok I know that just flicked through the thread and caught some one calling BS about not being able to buy unlocked as I bought mine direct from lg and it's unlocked, by not reading from the beginning I surmised it was about the boot loader.

UK guy thinking of getting a HTC 10 while on holidays in Chicage July 2016

Hi, I was intending of getting a Pay as Go sim while in USA for my M9 but now that the 10 is out I thought I might get one whilst out there. Do you think the 10 will be readily available {July 8th - 27} and do I go for a unlocked version and get a Pay as Go sim or a carrier based one and unlock later.
My personal preference would be to purchase the unlocked version. Unfortunately, it would be unlikely that you would be able to find an unlocked version in a retail store, but time will tell if any retail stores will offer it. (It should be available through the HTC web site by then.) You would probably be stuck with getting a carrier branded model. (T-Mobile would be the GSM variant here in the United States.)

Sorry. Just waiting around for my 10 to ship and trying to avoid work right now.
Two BestBuy reps claimed they would be carrying/able to order unlocked HTC 10's. I hope so, because I spent my saved phone cash on my wedding. If they do not carry it, I'll be forced into an unlocked S7.

New Red and Gold HTC 10 Available now! with $100 off or Free $199 JBL Headphones

http://www.androidheadlines.com/201...us.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
Camellia Red, Topaz Gold, Carbon Gray exclusive to HTC.com
Camellia Red and Topaz Gold will begin shipping in early October.
What are the odds I could convince HTC to send me a Camellia Red Unlocked phone to replace my Carbon Grey Unlocked phone when I apply for the Uh-Oh protection? I could wait 2 months with a damaged camera lens to get a Red model. I loved my red M8.
Other colors won't start shipping until October. Kind of like the A9, a fiasco, and 2 $100 credits I ended up getting with them due to delays on shipping. I can wait, and hope they can't deliver, and get more credits!
Now if I can get my credit reinstated of $100 that expired for whatever reason. HTC support is so slow!!!
Sucks that it's only for USA, that red one looks really good!

It's not US only @Chad_Petree it should be available in each country where HTC.com sells phones directly to consumers.
For example the discounted price (-15%) is 594,15€ for Finland, Sweden and Denmark at least.
Germany is 568,65€
UK 484.49£
France, Spain, Ireland, and Italy 636,65€
And so on. Don't have the time to check more countries..
Edit: Pfft, nvm, that was an old message to the original offer. Should learn to read.

That's not cool HTC Germany is the only country in Europe where you don't get the red version ... At least we got the best price our of Europe ... what about in your country ? Can you buy it there ?

I wish someone would tell verizon that now all phones have to work on all networks lol, because you have to do mods on the Unlocked 10 to get it to work on verizon and if you want volte to work you have to fully convert your unlocked version to a verizon version and verizon still will not accept and activate your unlocked 10 imei on their network, you have to activate your verizon sim in a verizon phone then put that sim in your unlocked 10. FCC should get verizon to stop this crap or start fining them.

In the end of your statement you said that you have to activate a verizon sim in a verizon phone...and then put that sim in the unlocked 10? I actually bought the Verizon HTC 10 not knowing any of this until I called Verizon to activate and the guy told me I could have just bought the unlocked version from HTC.com where I purchased the phone. He was actually really helpful. Most of the time when I talk to the folks at Verizon they're knowledgeable enough to know what they have to do. My question is: why do you need to go through the hassle of activating the SIM in a Verizon phone first? They have to accept the unlocked version. You might have to use a Verizon SIM which only makes sense to be honest. But those are free at the corporate Verizon Wireless stores...not the Wireless Zones and the Radioshack's of the country. I don't even think RS sells Verizon anymore.
I'm just pissed that I bought the Verizon variant. HTC.com should know better and just sell the unlocked version saying it works on all carriers. The Google Pixel coming out doesn't have special variants. Just one phone that works for all! Yes Verizon has an "exclusivity" partnership with them but I don't see the benefits for Verizon. Unless people pre-order through Verizon where there's more of a supply...and probably some ****ty bloatware that you can get rid of in a snap. I just got my HTC 10 on Thursday. I've already rooted it and unlocked it with s-off. I'm trying to find someone with the Android Nougat 7.x firmware but the people that do won't give it out and I definitely understand why. I can still return the HTC 10 within 30 days, and then buy the Google Pixel XL once they've depleted the pre-order stock. I've been loyal to HTC since the Thunderbolt days though. That's a long time.
So to answer your comment -- Verizon reps know they have to activate the unlocked version. But they can still require a Verizon SIM or I could have just taken the one out of my M8 I still have if they were that intense. Do you see any benefit with Google and Verizon being partners on this? It doesn't make any sense when you can order the phone through Google.com anyway.

Unless something has changed ? The unlocked 10 to be used on verizon has to have the verizon radio flashed to it which requires s-off to stick and root access.
Checkout Dottats thread below on how to use unlocked 10 on verizon.

You can still s-off unlock and root your verizon 10 just use the sunshine app its $25 but it frees your phone from verizons choke hold lol. Go to http://theroot.ninja and it lists it all out for you.

Its been since april. The unlocked 10 needs the verizon radio flashed to it, plus volte wont work unless you use the other thread which you flash the verizon ruu to an unlocked 10 then volte will work. Links below both go over all that. I also wish pixel had the sd card slot, but also stereo speakers instead of the one facing down speaker it does have also has no OIS.

Download Mode. IMEI or serial number. Is my HTC Genuine or not?

Hi everybody. I bought a very strange HTC 10 at ebay. Could you please help me to understand the phone's history? the photos of the IMEI/Serial and Download Mode ara attached:
1) After checking IMEI and Serial Number I can see the next:
Source: https://imei24.com/warranty_info/HTC/
Customer Description T-MOBILE USA
Country USA
Lock status locked
Warranty start 2016/05/09
Warranty end 2017/08/09
So the phone is old/renewed. Or at least was bought in the USA at 2016 - like T-Mobile phone.
2) After checking info in the Download Mode I can see the date "January 2, 2018". What is it? The date of selling? Or just the date, when the phone was first turned on?
3) In the download mode I can see the CID "htc _pmewl" and "OS - 3.16.617.2". They mean, that the phone is unlocked. But IMEI shows that it's T-Mobile phone. How to explain this?

Regarding your third question, it means the phone software was modified to turn it into Unlocked. Most likely it was a T-Mobile device, and the seller changed the cid to Unlocked and installed that software to it. Do you have s-off? It should tell you in download mode.

Thanks, now I see. Are you familiar with T-Mobile practice of selling subsidized smartphones (for example "subscribe for 1 year tariff and get a smartphone for just 70 USD")? After that it's very easy to unlock them and to sell at ebay as normal ones.

Yeah I used to buy only subsidized phones in the past, but the long contracts were annoying so with the 10, I bought it outright and I'm loving the freedom of not being tied down to a single carrier for a year or two.

But those people, who sell new subsidized phones at ebay.com are obviously not tied by their carrier. So there's a method to buy a subsidized phone (or a lot of subsidized phones) and immediately say goodbye to the carrier

I believe most of those people are buying used/refurbished/firesale phones and modifying the software to make it look like it's a brand new Unlocked one. I've seen countless threads around here with people asking about a 10 they've bought on ebay and which has conflicting software version numbers. Tons of them have been Sprint (CDMA) variants being sold as Unlocked, and I'm assuming they're either refurbished or they were originally purchased when Sprint was liquidating their 10 stocks at a low price.
I bought a HTC 10 "Unlocked" in Camellia Red from eBay that was apparently factory sealed. It came in shrink wrapped packaging in what looked like the factory box. Upon closer inspection, the box had spelling mistakes and accessories that didn't ship with the 10, for example, a 1AMP wall charger and earphones from the M8. The phone is genuine but the bootloader was unlocked and the setup wizard had already been completed, minus a Google account

I initially booted it with the Sim card & it wouldn't let me do anything, until I set it up. I could have Unlocked it while on Oreo, but once I updated to Pie, it grayed out.
I bought the same phone on Gumtree, second hand. I'm living in Greece, and everything works fine even with the local network carrier and all... But same issue, oem unlock is greyed out. Tried, factory resetting it a few times. Google help told me to do the same. But nothing I've tried has worked out so far. I feel we need to call the company it was registered to while the carrier lock was still on, and ask them to unlock the bootloader. As they have a custom bootloader lock script placed over the googles own one

I don't have the Verizon version. It's the GSM version & I'm on AT&T. Also, what info do you need me to post?

Go here. Enter the IMEI. It should tell you all you need to know. For example, running the IMEI of my unlocked 128GB P2XL through the site returns the following:
IMEI: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Brand: LG
Phone model: Pixel 2 XL G011C
Serial number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Product model: G011C
Manufacture date: November 18, 2017
Shipped from factory: November 21, 2017
Estimated phone age: 1 year(s) 3 month(s) 6 day(s)
Buyer code: US1
Buyer name: GOOGLE_OPEN_128G
CSN number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Blacklist status*: CLEAN
If it's a Verizon model, the buyer name should reflect that information.

If it is indeed a Verizon device, unlocking it will 99.9% never happening, unfortunately.
With the Pixel 3 out and the Pixel 4 coming out this year, no one is going to spend time trying to unlock the Verizon version of the Pixel 2.

Since you bought it on Swappa from the unlocked section of the device, you should return it.

Nope. Return it, as you didn't get what you paid for.

Unlocked and bootloader unlockable are two different things.
Selling a Verizon version in the unlocked section is fine if it works on other carriers (unlocked).
Bootloader unlockable would have to be in the phone's listing for it to be a valid return.
OP could ask nicely to the seller, but unless they stated it was bootloader unlockable, they sold in good faith.

In my understanding, selling a Verizon version of P2XL in the unlocked section is not okay, as they are totally different phone models.
Same is true if I just carrier unlock my T-mobile LG V20 phone and want to sell it on the unlocked device section. Despite carrier unlocking, it doesn't become the carrier unlocked model, would come with T-mobile bloatware and T-mobiles network bands. The unlocked section of Swappa implies selling the unlocked models, not just unlocking the carrier models.
That's my understanding, now it all depends on the Swappa policy regarding this matter. I recommend the OP to involve a Swappa staff on the matter.

Swappa's buy page for the Pixel 2 XL here has links to unlocked and Verizon devices. Therefore Swappa's definition of an unlocked phone is based upon whether the bootloader can or cannot be unlocked. The OP specifically said he purchased it from the unlocked section of Swappa. What the OP bought is a Verizon device and it should have been listed on Swappa as a Verizon device, NOT unlocked.
The seller knowingly misrepresented the device and listed it in the wrong section in an attempt to boost his profits, since the Verizon model currently sells for about $70 less than the unlocked version.
That is, if I recall correctly, fraud. Thus the OP is entitled to a refund.

Yeah, but I can't really afford to be without a phone right now... So hopefully I can figure this out... But if I have to send it back, I will.

Yes... The phone works amazing & booted right up with AT&T, so I got what I asked for. I just thought I was getting the standard GSM variant, not an Unlocked VZW version.
In going to call the seller again tomorrow.

Is it possible there is a confusion with the terminology? Unlocked Verizon might very well mean this device can be used on multiple carrier platforms, not that it can be rooted and the bootloader unlocked.
It's been a while since I used swappa, but they are pretty good about holding people to misrepresenting their device condition and build.
You'll need to decide whether or not there was a legit misunderstanding between Verizon unlocked = usable on multiple carriers, vs Verizon unlocked = having the option to unlock the bootloader and root.
If the latter is very important to you, it might be worth a burner phone for a few weeks to get what you want, rather than be stuck with something you don't want for however long you intend to keep it.
Just thinking out loud here.
Best of luck in your final decision.

I would have to disagree with you. You cannot sell the Verizon model on the unlocked page just because its unlocked for other carrier use. Ive sold over 70 phones on swappa for reference. I don't see why Swappa wouldn't side with the buyer in this case.
