Frequency check help - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

People always tell me "just check frequencychecker" but it doesn't seem so simple.
For example, looking at a OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition for docomo (a carrier in Japan) I get this: OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren - docomo FrequencyCheck

For one, 5G isn't listed at all. Second, I don't see any frequency bands. And then I see what looks like "definitely works on 3G, 3/5 chance working on 4G." Am I supposed to read this as 3 out of 5 people reported that this phone/carrier combination worked for them on 4G and I basically have a 60% of it working for me?

From comparing their results for my 7T on Verizon it looks like the site is saying that:
1) the 7T McLaren radio can use 35 separate bands
2) Docomo uses 3 different bands for 3G service
3) the McLaren supports all 3 of those bands (100% availability)
4) Docomo uses 5 different bands for their 4G LTE service
5) the McLaren supports 3 of those 5 bands (60% availability)
So far as I know the only 7T phone that currently supports 5G is the 7T Pro 5G McLaren using band n71, I believe it is Europe only looks like there is also a T-Mobile version.
Looks like Docomo uses different bands (n77 & n79) so that wouldn't be compatible anyway/[/S]

Any D820/821 sort of thing with the new Nexus 5X?

I was wondering because last time I ordered the N5 I got the D820 (from the US) and it doesn't work with LTE bands in my country. Now, I ordered my phone from the UK. Are there any models for this phone like there was D820 and D821? Or is it like a general model that works with everything, everywhere?

Looking at the specs page, it does state two different versions: international and US. It may be just one model with different radios or two models. It isn't clear
H790 is US and H791 is international
Taken from the FCC filings
@Bei60 can I ask you which is your country/opetator?
I live in Italy and I've read here D820 should work as the D821(that I own), I read the H790/1 bands specs, but I don't know how to know what band(s) my (and the other national) uses.
I have the opportunity to buy a cheaper us device, but I don't want to risk connectivity/speed problems...
Here's my network info:

I live in Israel. Here we use the D821.

Z Play Variants

I'm looking to pick up a Z Play to use on T-Mobile, and I'm trying to figure out how to distinguish between different variants available.
According to willmyphonework, there are 6 different variants of which the Mexican version would work best on T-Mo. What's the best way to identify that the phone I'm looking at is indeed a Mexican version?

In my opinion. You want the xt1635-02 software channel RETUS (Retail United States) that's what I have and I'm on ATT in Arizona. Depending on which Bands T-Mobile uses I am almost certain that I could put a T-mobile sim in mine now and run T-Mobile with no issuea
Hey ssuds, I have the Moto Z play(RETUS) with Tmobile. I do get LTE and everything. Be advised that there is no wifi calling feature enabled on the MZP for us. (even though freaking Moto G5 Plus has it from Tmobile). As for service I just moved from AT&T to T-mobile. Honestly T-mobiles coverage is crap so I dont think it would matter too much.
I'm using xt1635-02 retus on Republic wireless which uses TMo network. No issues, except for the crappy TMO coverage by me (I also have an att Sim which is my primary account - got a deal for free service from Republic at purchase). Phone also worked very well in Ireland on Eir/Meteor.
Was reading in another thread recently that att Mexico devices are Sim locked, do that may be problematic if you go that route. No personal experience.

S9 Dual Sim EU/UK model

Hi guys
Interested in getting the S9 (currently own Mate 10 Pro) But have a few questions I wonder if anyone has the answer to.
First off, will the Dual sim model be dual sim 4G like my Mate 10 Pro is, and will it be able to show network state of both sims simultaneously, like shown in the attached screenshot.

Secondly, I had a s8 single sim and it was possible to lock it in 4G only mode via a switcher app, will this be possible with the s9 and if so possible for both sims with the dual sim variant.
Very excited about this phone, the first Android phone with 4k 60fps capabilities, and the first with variable camera aperture.
Cheers for any responses!
I have the S9+ dual SIM and it does run both SIMS in 4G mode. However, I've got the Snapdragon variant , not the international Exynos variant - not sure if that makes a difference.
I used to have the S8+ (Exynos version) and that could only do one SIM in 4G, the other in 3G. You can't use both data connections at the same time anyway so not really sure it offers much benefit, but I do remember reading that 4G is less power hungry than 3G so perhaps helps battery life.
Glad I went for the SD845 version as I hear the are battery drain problems with the Exynos version. The only downside seems to be Bixby vision being set to China for shopping, not a big deal for me as it's rubbish anyway
Latest S9 firmware (CSC ROM) does this , see screenshots at :https://forum.softpedia.com/topic/1...tehnologia-volte/page__st__7632#entry22979249 . Besides, it suports dual VoLTE/VoWiFi now.

SM-G988U1 on AT&T will not pick up 5G

I recently switched over from using my Galaxy Note10 which was a AT&T device to my unlocked S20 Ultra 5G. When I made the switch I also changed my plan from the Business Unlimited Starter plan I had been on since last year to the Business Unlimited Performance plan which now gives me 5G/5G+ access. I am in a AT&T 5G area & I can not pick up a 5G signal at all. My city is pretty much covered in 5G and their is a 5G tower not far from me. I've tried resetting my network settings with no luck at all. What issues could I be experiencing that I am only picking up LTE+ & not 5G?
Try this...
First call AT&T and make sure you give them the IMEI and ICCID...then get the Net Monitor App and go to the top right hand 3-dots click dots and click SETTINGS...Then ANDROID RADIO Menu....click okay when warning comes up....scroll way way way down to Set Preferred Network Type and just make sure your are on Unknown per the screen shots below...always remember what is chosen if it is not Unknown in case you need to go back. Please do let us know if this worked? Also, DO NOT change anything else in this app as it could mess with your connection

Just wanted to give a update on my AT&T 5G situation with my S20 Utlra 5G (SM-G988U1). After calling business customer support I had my IMEI# changed from what they had on file for me which was my Galaxy Note10 to my S20 Ultra 5G. This now allows me access to 5G on AT&T. If anyone else has this concern just contact AT&T customer service and make sure your account has your 5G device's IMEI# linked to it.

5G on Pixel XL 2?

I've only had my Pixel XL 2 for about a month. It was given to me and I know it's an older phone, but I like it a lot so I'm going to use it a while.
Anyway, playing around with the radios and APN's my phone says that there's access to 5G, but I didn't think this was a 5G phone. So is it possible to get 5G with the Pixel 2 XL? I'm on T-Mobile at the moment. We have 5G in our area with T-Mobile.
So like I said I'm curious if I can get 5G on this phone and why it says 5G recommended in my network options and why there's "NR" radio options in the radio/band settings menu.
Thanks for any insight into this!

No way you'll get 5G without the hardware.
That it shows in your settings must be a bug - probably a T-Mobile bug. It is not listed on my phone.

Sorry I've taken so long to reply to this. And yeah I thought the same thing also, that the SD 835's modem doesn't have the necessary hardware to get 5G. I have a Verizon SIM in my Pixel XL 2 now as of the time of writing this, and the NR option is still available in my radio menu. So idk if it's a T-Mobile bug or just a bug with my phone. It still gives me the option for 5G recommended in my system wifi/network/bluetooth menu also. But ya know, never connected to 5G so idk ya know? But thank you for replying!
