Best practices for protecting yourself as a seller when selling on swappa / ebay? - Buying, Selling, & Funding

What are current best practices for protecting yourself as a seller when selling on swappa / ebay?
Things I do now:
(1) Photograph the item extensively (proving possession, physical condition, and serial number)
(2) Video single take of item powering on / doing tasks, packaging the item and showing packaged item weight on scale
(3) Only shipping to paypal verified addresses
(4) No international buyers
Also, is there any way to be safe *and* still sell an items as "factory sealed"? There are many listings for factory sealed items, but wouldn't not at least quickly opening the box to get photo / video documentation (1 & 2 above) complicate shipping damage claims and invite buyer fraud? Listings advertised as "factory sealed" go for slightly more so when reselling an item that was received factory sealed it'd be ideal to leave it sealed, but I can't understand how having zero photo documentation of the physical phone, tablet, drone etc. doesn't significantly increase risk to the seller.

128MB HTC Universal for sale!

Reluctantly I have to sell my beloved Universal, mainly because I have bought another CE device (Smartbook G138), and I find it not very easy to maintain two such powerful devices with overlapping functions. It would be good to find a new home for this buddy. I used to be a collector of small devices but now real life (work and family) compels me to go frugal and simple and stay focused on practical matters.
General condition (appearance only): 7/10, w/ normal wear, no broken parts or cracks or lines, etc
Screen: Super bright (i need to set to the lowest backlight most of the time ) and with NO problems (e.g. dimming, yellowish, lines, etc.) at all! w/ scratch-proof screen protector on.
Casing: The device was originally in European silver casing, but then I changed it to O2 Exec black, while keeping the silver keyboard with red backlight, which looks very cool to me (like a volcano in the dark )
RAM: And most importantly it has already been upgraded to a whopping 128MB of RAM, which DOES make a clear difference in performance than the original 64MB.
All other features: phone, wifi, bluetooth, camera, mic, speaker, d-pad, card slot are fully operational with no issue.
ROM: It is now running the rock solid Tomal v8.9 (128 version), which is free of issue of using wifi WPA found in the older builds (e.g. 8.1, 8.5)
Power supply: one 4800mAh (Cameron Sino) and one 1600mAh (Momax). Both hold very good charge, esp. the Momax one which was bought just two months ago and imho it's the best quality battery I've ever used.
AC charger included.
Shipping: will sell worldwide from Hong Kong.
One issue - lately the post regulations have been tightened in order to follow the latest ICAO policies, such that all rechargeable batteries are prohibited to ship via airmail. So my suggestion is to send the device via airmail (EMS is preferred), and the two batteries via surface mail (generally taking ~4 weeks). You only need to pay for the airmail part, and I will cover the cost of surface mail.
(probably express couriers are okay here, but i have to check).
I still have the original european packaging including the box so if you prefer I can pack everything using the original packaging, which I think is the safest.
Price & payment: I am asking for 150 Euros (net price, shipping not included). Paypal only.
PM me if interested. Will respond within the same day (GMT+8). Pictures can be provided upon request.
Thanks!!
Any pictures
I will buy it. I really need this. Please PM me what info is needed or send the invoice to [email protected]

Hey, sorry, Orb3000, I didn't realize there is a dedicated marketplace, and I've seen some sale posts in this sub-forum so I did the same.

BST-41 battery on Ebay

I noticed recently that there are some Ebay sellers selling BST-41 batteries at very low prices. All of them seem to be from Hong Kong or China.
I got this feeling that they are all fakes. This is too good to be true right?
Anyone who got one care to share your experience?
Personally I'd avoid batteries from third parties that are "incredibly" cheap.
Make sure the quality of these batteries are well known. (comments, forums, other users, etc.)
I'm not telling you to stay away from them, but to keep an extra eye open and make a bit of research on the manufacturer before you jump on.
These types of batteries should be rigorously controlled during manufacture, and I bet these cheap batteries aren't so well controlled during the manufacturing process.
Sometimes even some chemical components or processes are skipped to keep the manufacturing costs down.
Risk of third party batteries to catch fire or even explode, due to the lack of quality, are bigger.
I've seen a few battery fires myself, and every time it was due to a "low quality third party battery".
Search the net on "lithium-ion fire" and you might get a glimpse
Just bought a pair, and they don't work.
When you get them, they are charged to around 45-50% and when you put them in your phone, they don't charge at all...
Don't waste your money, even if they are cheap.
I gave around 15$ for the batteries...
Thanks for the replies. Amazon.com it is, then.
I got a what was advertised as a genuine battery off ebay from a uk supplier
and while it works fine in my old x1 it's a tiny bit too short to push itself up enough to reach the battery contacts. Easily remedied though by gluing sone thin plastic packaging to the base.
Still not sure if this is a fake or a factory second as it holds charge fine and has the correct markings. It cost around 10 gbp

I got a cheap pair from ebay that were labeled as Sony SBT-41 batteries, but of coarse the labels were fake. Do a google search on fake Sony SBT- 41 labels.
Also, apparently, cheap batteries can be dangerous

Probably would have been sold by now if you actually provided pictures of the items you are selling

thanks, I will check mine
Its fake, there is no RMA, only sending back
tip, ask before you buy, tell the seller you have a original battery to compare and you know how to check if its a fake one.
If you do this and they still send you a fake one they will be screwed by ebay
If you used PayPal, you can open a contestation and describe that the item you received it s a fake. And that you want a total refound. I had a similar problem 4 times and I had my money back and the fake object not sent back, cause I told them I won t pay the shipping cost because I bought a real object and received a fake one. You have always to use PayPal on internet especially if you have to buy cheap phone parts. I m a PC , smartphone and electronics technician ?

I beg to disagree, I too purchased fake N5 batteries prior to shopping at spareslg.com, BayPal Protection Plan is a LURE to create a sense of safety/wellbeing delusion to attract buyers to make usage of BayPal.
Credit Cards companies offer much more protection than BayPal
Normally transaction will be fine if there are no issues, but when purchasing items like N5 batteries from either ebay or Amazon, it is better to use a Credit Card rather than BayPay as when issues arrive you will be given a long ride and eventaully receive the message "blah blah blah.....We've completed our review and unfortunately are not able to decide this claim in your favour."
BayPal will ALWAYS side with the Sellers because they are BayPal's Bread & Butter.
The answer is Yes I have been scammed and BayPal protected the Scamming bar-steward.

I typed the message from my phone ,there s no need to rewrite baypal to take joke of my mistyping . Never had any problems with PayPal, I ve got a refund every time ,instead I had some problems with my credit card and so I switched to PayPal
I hadn't any problem too. Recently I had a issue with a item and Paypal resolved 100% of my money back, and Paypal payed sent back cost.
We have repair parts for Nexus 5 in stock. Welcome to inquiry about the price:
MOD EDIT" advertising in the FORUM is not allowed
They are in the suburbs in Chicago. Unfortunately it's fake but you get what you paid for. Nice ppl there too. I would estimate over 50% of batteries are fake because the wrapping can be easily copied.

I'm running fakes, from the same vendor, in both my N5s. They're 1,800 mAh cells sold with a fraudulent claim of capacity and of provenance (they're utterly not genuine), but actually work as you'd expect from a 1,800 mAh cell.
They're precisely what you'd expect from the price.
What about others? Does anyone have buy other spare parts? I need a Samsung S8 plus charging flex cable, and I plan to get it from etradesupply or REWA. The price is about the same. Should I choose REWA? I know it from their Youtube video.

Counterfeit Battery??

Hi just ordered a battery for the LG V20 and it was supposed to be OEM and 100% brand new. However, when I received the battery, there was a black tape over the LG logo. This raised some red flags. Taking a closer look, the label on the battery has more slightly bolded letters compared to the original and the sticker itself is not applied to the battery nearly as well as the original. Another concern is the manufacture date on the battery says 2016.07.07[L]. The LG V20 was released on September 6th and didn't go on sale for another two months! What should I do about this? Is this likely a counterfeit? And do I contact LG, Ebay, or the seller?
Here is the link to the battery on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252701172837?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
P.S. I would attach a picture I took comparing the two batteries, but cna't figure out how to do that.
Thanks
I'd say contact the seller first. If they won't let you return then contact ebay. If you paid with Paypal they usually assist you for a resolution.
Yea I never get extra batteries from eBay anymore because they're all counterfeit no matter what the description says. Your only option is Amazon, IMO.
eBay is great for cases tho. I've gotten a few counterfeit cases on previous phones that were the same and better than the real ones because they fixed certain issues that the real cases had.

Don't order batteries or sdcard off of eBay too many fakes, amazon is better but I would make sure you get it from Amazon and not a 3rd party seller.

Find a local dealer for batteries that warrenties them. If your paying 15$ you get what you pay for, oem should run 40-50$ per battery
anything less its consumers fault for buying a cheap-o knock off, its like anything else. And why risk your safety with a EL-Cheapo?
Didnt anyone learn that lithium is dangerous and its not something to take lightly? NOTE 7?? Those knock offs dont go through ANY quality tests, and usually dont even have the resistors on the top of battery for protection.
Just google search cheap batteries from ebay, youll see what im talking about.. Stay away from Ebay and Amazon for this stuff. Same exact marketplace style, just 2 different parent companies.
east coast has store called ( Batteries Plus And Bulbs ) find a place similar and do biz local.
1 for exchanges and issues, 2 because you have a place to hold accountable and verify reputation.
We see this all the time on batteries.
Just order the cradle pack https://www.amazon.com/LG-Battery-Charging-BCK-5200-Charger/dp/B01M5C23SV it has everything included and is quite cheap.
It might be safe but performance probably won't be the best. Contact the seller and he should resolve it for you, he obviously knows they're fake and won't risk the bad feedback. A guy on eBay with a few thousand feedback would never have these amounts of official LG replacements fyi. They're easily found online just be more careful next time.
