this is first question.
1. What " Edit profile banner" means, what file i should upload, in which format, and what i can type in that file which can be used by forum properly to display all information.
When i click on " Edit profile banner" i get:
is that some sort of background image that needs to be upladed?
i don't want to mess with it, to make it worse, as i wouldn't know how to revert it back.
2. And isn't that confusing, don't we already have fields to fill our info (our short description, social media usernames, links to websites, which are not showing by the way as you can see.
Here we are filling our info that's not showing on profile, so what's purpose of it then.
thank devs and all involved in hard work for this, your work is appreciated

1) Check my profil by hovering over my username, you'll see what's a banner (mine is one wallpaper from android kitkat I like a lot). Yes that's reversible, you can remove the banner at anytime. Idk for the dimensions, and the upload format is the classical png, jpeg, ... images format.
2)Account details are showing up for me, I just added my GitHub and it show up, maybe check your privacy options

damn, now i have it too (banner image when hovering on profile icon)
and i just seen About section in profile, that's where all went.
but, it would be useful, in popup (when clicking on "edit banner", to add small description like "add image to your profile banner"
as user would understand it's that background image, and it accept .img files
(i got confused, when it opened in file explorer saying "all formats", i just tought, what this even mean?,
so include default to search for .jpg, while allowing other .img formats too,
as it confused me, what i should upload at all)
was confused, as xda never had proper profile section displayed, and image banner is new too for me on this forum.

Question regarding six image limit in forum posts

... So, what gives? I'm quite an emoticonny person, I don't spam them all over the place but I tend to use five or six if I'm writing a long reply, maybe a few more if I'm in a very good/exciteable mood (I feel it helps convey the context better, because text is such a stale, unforgiving medium when it comes to misunderstandings and misinterpretations).
Also, there's been threads in the past where I've posted big long replies including multiple (offsite) linked images, which, were I to attempt this again, would be impossible. I understand about the feature cobbled on which allows you to upload large images to the post or repy and then reference them with square brackets, but I have this "thing" about not using that feature, as you can never tell if they're going to disappear or the forum's going to be upgraded or modified and all the pictures lost - when I host my pictures on my web host on my little corner of the Internet, I can guarantee that they'll be available there for pretty much as long as I'm still alive and paying the hosting bills. Plus they're my pictures, I'll host them - that's why I don't use flickr for storage of my thousands of photos, I'd rather do it myself so I have total control.
Ideally, I'd like to see this limit removed, deactivated or at least raised to a higher number (10 or 15), or maybe removing the restriction just for people who've donated, because I can see it causing problems in the future for people like me who might need to illustrate a long reply or guide to setting something up / tweaking some system settings with multiple screengrabs to highlight every major step.
I don't know what other people think, but I can't really see any reason for an imagel imit - if someone goes and spams a forum thread with three hundred pictures, they can be given a warning or banned from posting new replies for x amount of time, just imposing a blanket limit on every user seems a bit pointless to me.
However, in the scope of XDADevs I'm naught more than an 'orrible little luser - anybody else have any of their own opinions they'd like to add to this?
How do you upload images to wiki?
RESOLVED Answer in new wiki http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Help:Images
Rather than starting a new thread, can I ask how does one upload images to wiki apart from storing them on a third party site? I have written a wiki:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Xtask
I would like to add some screen shots but the only way I could do it was to link to one on tinypic.com:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
First I tried uploading the jpg to an album of mine in xda:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/album.php?albumid=1247
but I could not get these to display in posts or wiki as the extension is not "jpg".
I then tried to ftp and put them in a directory I created here:
ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Software/XTask/Screenshots/
I also put in a ReadMe.txt but cannot link to these as they are in ftp.
For wiki I have seen them loaded in "images" folder
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/images/ARTE200.jpg
For the forum, I could load them as "Attached Thumbnails" as I have done below but this does not display in wiki as the extension is not "jpg".
It makes sense to store the images on xda-developers so anyone can use them and update them as necessary.
Can anyone kindly guide me in the right direction as to how to use xda-developers to store and show images in a wiki?
Cheers
Tom

No images in my email...why?

Everytime I open an email with images the only thing that shows are the X's to where the images are. How do I make the images show when I open an email. I want to read it the way I would see it on the PC.
My BB 8900 showed the images as long as I clicked on show images. High Tech Computer phone should be having these problems.
I think It's bacause pocket oulook doesn't support HTML. IMHO

Huh? POutlook supports HTML just fine!
I had the very same problem a while back on my TYTNII, I got round it by installing Schap's Advanced Config and setting the Proxy Auto Detection from disabled to enabled under Internet Explorer settings.
Schap's Advanced Config can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418151
I downloaded it and did what you said. I even did a soft reset and I re opened my email and the images still don't show.

Did you retry downloading the images in POutlook? Does Internet Explorer work OK? I found that Internet Explorer wouldn't download images corretly when POutlook wasn't working... That's how I found they were linked.
Daft question - you have got POutlook settings set up for HTML and to actually download the message and not just the header haven't you??
I have no idea what you are talking about. All I did was set up my Gmail and Aim email on the device. No images are showing in either accounts. I never set up an POutlook or whatever that is.
Do you get an image placeholder [x] where the image should be? Do you also get a notification bar at the top of this message?

Mesquire,
Yes that's exactly what I see when I open up my emails.
Are you able to click on "Internet pictures blocked" to download the images for your email?
Never tried actually, but what if I can and what if I can't?
If you can: the behaviour is by design
This is similar to Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express/Vista's Windows Mail/Windows Live Mail - images embedded into a HTML email are blocked initially.
So how do I get it to work correctly? Is your HTML blocked?
Anyone else HTML blocked?
Just tested using Gmail's IMAP access. Embedded images are blocked, as usual, with [x]. Click on "Internet pictures blocked" and images are downloaded to show the HTML email in all its glory.
Yeah I just checked and it's all good now. Thanks!

HTML Light Pop Quiz Framework With Instructions make quiz games easy

Hi fellow developers I made this very light Pop quiz framework so that you can easily make your own pop quiz using HTML . Now this framework is light and the coding works on all browsers and mobile devices basic auto-scale code included in the code. Now to use this framework download the source file its hosted on sourceforge and unzip the file. You will see the levelone.html file and popquizframework.png. Using a text editor ( Notepad++ for windows or textwrangler for Mac) open the levelone HTML file. Also get one photo from your computer that you will be using, dont worry about the size the coding will make it fit 300x300 not matter size of photo. Now lets begin. Take a look at the screenshot below and below the screenshot will be instructions on where to type in your commands. Its very easy since you don't have to touch the lower level code.
Pop Quiz Framework Download

1) That's the pop up alert box message when you get an answer wrong. You can change the "wrong answer try again" to wherever message you want or keep it as is.
2) You can change the words circled movie quiz to whatever your app will be
named and that will show in broswer tab or mobile device in bar along top of screen.
3) You can change the question inside the
tags to whatever question you would like the player to answer.
4) See where it says "Super.png" you can this to the photo you want to be placed. Make sure to have the proper file extension i.e. .png .jpeg etc.
5)These are the onscreen buttons that the player will click.
onclick="wrong()" that means if the player clicks this the answer is wrong and a pop-up box will appear.
onclick=location.href="leveltwo.html" means the player got the answer right and can move to next page.
So you can choose which selection you want to have right or wrong and type in the correct value.
6) This is where you will type the words that will show on the onscreen buttons. These are the choices that you will give the player playing your game.
Now after you finished making it and saving as html file app doubleclick on the html file to run on your computer!! Now your probably wondering how to make multiple levels. OK follow these instructions.
1) Your 1st file is levelone.html and when the player clicks the onclick=location.href="leveltwo.html" that means he is going to the second level. After you save the levelone.html file copy it and place it in another folder.
2) Now go back and edit the original file with the next question you have but on the onclick=location.href="leveltwo.html" change that to "levelthree.html . No go ahead and save the file your working on as leveltwo.html then copy and place it in another folder. Now you have 2 levels.
3) On each new level just make sure to change the onclick=location.href=" " to open the next level if the player got the answer right. Now go ahead and make some super games!!
Nice idea.
There are some problems with it though.
I don't think it's good to have to make a separate file for each question. That could be very time consuming if you have a lot of questions.
Also the Correct / Wrong structure might be good for what you were going for but might not be suited for other projects. But I suppose the wrong section can easily be ignored.
Not exactly what I'm looking for but I suppose it provides an easy solution for those who want to use it.
Thanks for the share.
Personally, when it comes to quick setup for use on the web, I'm biased towards JSON as a data source due to it's flexibility. If you are still looking in to the matter and comfortable with JavaScript, try checking out SlickQuiz (http://jewlofthelotus.github.io/SlickQuiz/)

Problems using Linux Firefox and Chromium to create/edit forum posts

Today Firefox decided not to let me edit one of my larger posts. When I selected edit, it came up blank. Nadda, nothing. Also tried to edit another one and it no longer does WYSIWYG.
Am I missing something new?
Also I can't really use Chromium to edit either because it doesn't support WYSIWYG at all. And when I pasted my newly edited thread content in, I lost all my hyperlinks...:silly:
I'm going to install Chrome to see how that fairs...
Edit: Tried Windows Firefox and Chrome also with no results either. Guess I'll just have to keep my post small and simple....
Hi
I am on Xubuntu 64 bit running firefox from unpack bz2 rather than from repo.
Also unpack is on its own data partition so I can image using fsarchiver.
try right hand clicking the edit button and there should be an option to "inspect element"
post that element when you can.....maybe there is a little fault in the javascript?

Actually it's too late to check. I got frustrated and cut most of the content out and put it in a text file for anyone needing the information. It was mostly background stuff anyway. I think there is a character limit, but it doesn't give a character count, so you just end up finding out when it happens.

Ok as a work-a-round on your next big post
prepare it on Linux text editor
show the format as ....but change img to u r l with no gaps....my post count too low to show it
Code:
[img]imagesrc[/img]
good luck
Sounds strange, haven't heard of this. Check which plugins you have installed, I have seen some block proper editing. If you have the issue again, check to see if you can inspect with Chrome or FF to see where the mistake might be coming in.

I've had the same result with Firefox in Windows also. I must have been a character limit thing...
From my Debloated Stock LG-G3, VS985 4G VZN
Also Firefox and Chrome editors are different. Chrome doesn't allow wysiwyg display. The button is literally missing.

Can you place inline images in these forums?

When you upload images in your posts, there's no "place inline" option like you get in most forums such as phpBB.
Is there any way to do it manually?
Like placing something such as [put attachment 1 here] between certain paragraphs.

The image needs to be uploaded some where first.
In this case I just copied an attachment url from your other thread.

Affirmative, you can. Besides the methode shown by @sd_shadow above, what I'd call the preferred one you've first to upload your picture to the post via the "Attach files" option. Then copy the uploaded file URL and insert into your post. Looks like the one below; in my case the attachment ID is the first number i.e. 5135207
https: //forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=5135207&stc=1&d=1605357271
Now use the BB code: attach]attachmentid[/attach] (I've omitted the lead-in [ bracket). With this code, the attachment is displayed in your post instead of at the bottom.
View attachment 5135207
Here's the list of the BB Codes: https://forum.xda-developers.com/misc.php?do=bbcode. Remark: After transition to Xenforo it will be even easier.
Please also place large pics into HIDE tags for better reading and scrolling experience.
And if you are using xda labs the noparse tags don't work to show the image tags like i intended.
So you will need to view my post in a browser to see the img tags.
Just a screenshot attached to show that the BB codes do not work with XDA Labs. In my original post you do not see the embedded picture.
