Does the S20 with LineageOS work worse than the S10? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hello,
I still use my Galaxy S7, but now the battery is so weak that it's time for something new.
So I was just on eBay and I was surprised that the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S10 are traded for the same price (400 € in mint condition).
I like the S20 (normal version) because of its larger battery, but before I hit the buy button I thought to myself, "First see if there are any problems with LineageOS ...".
So I went here to the forum, and stumbled across this:

I am still surprised how people don't need any of the 2 additional cameras in their phones since they are not working with this ROM.
Do you simply not care about taking wide angle or tele (pseudo zoom) pictures and put far more weight on the "lightness" of Lineage?
And does this ROM have a setting for VoWiFi to "prefer WiFi" over mobile network?

Can someone please tell me if there is a solution in sight.
If it takes a few more weeks it's not a problem for me, I just want to know if it's worth waiting for.
And I don't use GoogleApps, are there any other problems with the Galaxy S20 or should I rather take the Galaxy S10?
thanks for your help

Worth upgrading to S9+ form S7 Edge?

Hi!
As you saw from my question I am wondering whether it's worth upgrading to S9+ from S7 edge or should I wait for the Note 9 or even S10? What do you think?
Also.. Will there be good development on this device? :fingers-crossed:

Well it was well worth going from my s7 edge to s8 plus so yes of course going to s9 plus is worth it.
sent from my Pixel 2 XL or Note FE
i'll be upgrading to the s9+ from the s7e, mostly because my plan runs out conveniently on the 15th.
i'm not as pumped by the actual phone yet, but the size, screen and 6gb RAM and battery bump in the s9+ looks good and it will be great... until March 15th in 2020 when i'll get the Note 12 / T2 / S11 Ultra, whatever that flagship is.
I had thought about the iPhone X/ Razer phone, and in an ideal world, i'd get either one instead, but the razer is not available locally and getting updates or repair/support for grey market phones is abominable in ... Australia.
(And, i'm not really invested in apple tech, despite having a now 5 year old ipad, and an iphone 4 that technically still works ... and basically everyone i know, has iPhone or Samsung)
s9 arrives later in the week, the s7 edge is still a perfectly great phone, until my daughter smashed it.
any excuse to get a new gadget.
Rom advice? I see Alexandr is makiung dev base, may stick with that stock feel, yet the freedom to use magisk modules. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
S7 and S9 are great ,but i prefer the S9 .
It's all worth it .

Gcam HDR+ on the S9?

Hey guys, really considering the S9 but will likely be modding it a bit.
If anyone's got it and doesn't mind testing quickly, does Gcam HDR+ work on either SD or Exynos variants? I believe the one from this thread is the most up-to-date.
Seriously hoping we'll eventually be able to pick which aperture to use in Gcam

Visit this site and download every version of the app. I am using on my LG G5 and it's working very well. I have tested it on samsung galaxy s7 with exynos and also worked very well.

Thanks, but yeah I have tested extensively on my S7 and know how well it works. I was just wondering if it works as well on the S9, which I don't have.
Doesnt work... Just tested it on Exynos 9+
Latest version (V8) force closes. However, version 7 seems to work fine.
Thanks for testing guys. I just bought mine so will post my tests after Tuesday.
I just get a black screen when trying pretty much any settings combo, what settings are you using?

I have heard it was working better on exynos most of the time
unless you are talking about only s9
The one I use is MGC_5.1.016_7.0+C2API_v.1.3c_AllinOne.apk, HDR+ works fine and makes a noticable difference in certain scenarios, best of both
All others with portrait mode enabled either black screen or force close.

It works well enough for me on the Exynos s9 plus but i can;t compare to the s7
No portrait mode currently
That port doesnt apply post processing...
Not any works in Galaxy s9 like the miniuser one in s8
I tried some version from the site and that you all said on the s9+ exynos but very buggy and almost dont work...
there is some stable version+settings that work well?with portrait and all?
the samsung camera app is suck in term of colors and some "pop"

Doesn`t the normal SD chipset work for everyone not on the exynos chip?
Holding my fingers crossed for a Exynos port of the Gcam for the Ultra. Even with the camera update it seriously smears the texture on photos and have had some horrible portrait photos as a result.
Most annoying part is that if you use the pro mode you get excellent results without any smeared skin tones but using the main camera set on auto without bixby scene detection and 12mp binned photos it sure looks like **** most of the time.
I think Samsung REALLY needs to improve a lot on the camera or it will be the biggest camera failure in the last 10 years....
So unless you mainly post to instagram and actually want to print pictures I suggest you use the 108mp setting and give it a quick sharpening in snapseed (or lightroom for some much needed defringing and sharpening)
So I´m holding out hope for a Gcam port for us stuck with the Exynos chipset that seems to produce slightly worse then the Snapdragon powered Ultra.
Other then that, I love the S20 Ultra and a worthy upgrade from my old S8+

Should I sell S20 and buy Xiaom 10?

if you can get snapdragon go for s20 if not just go for oppo xfinder x2 or mi 10 pro if camera is important for you, if you want the best camera go for p40 check dxomark.com for camera rankings although p40 have no google services but can be installed in less than 10 minutes
So for EU (Exynos) version of S20 Ultra there is no hope?

I use ZGCAM vers.917 on my EXYNOS S20 Ultra (XEF) :
-Night mode front and back
-PhotoBooth
-Photo Sphère (bugs sometimes)
-Slow Motion
-Zoom
-Video
-Google Lens
-Portrait (back and Front)
-Panorama
pictures looks better with stock in most of the cases (Night shoots) but with the correct settings i think GCAM will be much better than stock.
with the virus it's hard for me to spend a lot time outside to find the best set up but i think it's a good begining.
I can't share my pictures or setting for the moment( need 10 usefull posts before..)
let me know if you need more details
It is working!!
First app that has worked for me until now
Thank you very much
Do you know the best settings to use this cam on auto? Never worked with Gcam before

Pixel camera or S20?

Did anybody moved from pixel devices to s20?
I was happy with my pixel 2 xl till the touch screen stopped working.
I was thinking of pixel 4xl but it's outdated I guess.
My eyes are set on s20 but I live in Europe and exynos is my destiny.
How is performance and camera compared to pixel devices?
You're going to get mixed answers. Personally, I'd take the S20. But I know people who think the Pixel camera is better still. Look at photos from each phone online and make the choice yourself.
I have pixel phone since 1. keept my pixel one, sold, the 2 and 3. Pixel 4 still around while testing S20.
IMHO - Selfie , pixel 4 no doubt. But general photos both get good results , it's seems to be a matter of preference, samsung amps the exposure , i like darker photos, but my gf say she likes sammy photos, also most of my family seems to like brighter photos. After the update S20 photos got little bit better , i still prefer pixel's ones sometimes, real life usage both are top cameras.
I traded my pixel 4xl for s20.
Better screen
Better wifi and signal
5g
Better processor and memory
Comparable camera
Missing esjm on s20
I had a pixel 4 and the s20 is superior in every way.....except for the camera!! I took my pixel 4 on vacation and the shots I was able to get were insane!!
I'm not saying the s20 camera sucks, but the pixel is just next level.

I prefer the S20 5G with Gcam mods, these are working very well, Nevertheless the original
camera app of the phone is very good . You can find in the web, these Gcam apk ONLY WORKS
IN SNAPDRAGON VARIANT.
Pixel 4 XL takes better still photos and night shots.
S20 takes better video.
If photos and updates are your top priorities, then get Pixel 4 XL.
S20 is better in every other aspect.
Exynos S20s are less efficient than Snapdragon models. You could import a Snapdragon S20 but it might not support the bands you need, so do research before going that route.

I had bad experience with pixel and nexus phones before over hardware failure.
I bought and sold s10 lite the next day because it it's ugly camera experience.
I want a good similar, comparable camera experience to pixel.
Do I get that with s20 exynos?

I have Snapdragon S20+
Samsung manufactures their own devices. Google relies on other OEMs to manufacture their Pixels. You can guess which has more inconsistent quality control, and also more likely to have hardware issues.
As I said before, Pixel still takes the best still photos. If you want the best camera for taking still photos and low light photos, then look no further than Pixel.
S20 still photos and low light photos are better than S10 series (including S10 Lite), but not better than Pixel.
Pixel video recording is ok, but not the best. Galaxy S20 video recording is much better.
If you want a "comparable camera experience to Pixel", then get a Pixel.
But other than still photos and night photos, the S20 beats Pixel in every way.

Exynos, Sorry . yes pixel's camera are so easy to get decent photos.
One thing that makes me stay with S20 over pixel at the moment is because in my country Android's Face Authentication are not working for my banks and many other apps , so i have to use passwords, and pixel 4 only has face auth. no finger print.

S20 Photos is as easy, but have more option than pixel 4xl. Pixel 4 XL is simpler and best shots for point and shoot.
but same time s20 camera is not bad. But honestly I think pixel 4 xl camera for point and shoot is better. But overall s20 is better

Better wait for the note 20... galaxy s20 is a error almost at the level of note 7. A false start for Samsung.
Anyway if you prefer s20 plus after seeing Note20, at that time it will cheaper like always happens.

I know the Ultra S20 has some camera focus issues.
I have the S20 plus and it is a great phone. The Note line is always a feature or 2 richer than the S models. But if you're comparing getting the S20 plus or wait for regular Note 20, not the plus, then I say get the S20 plus.
Some people are big on brand new. I don't mind getting phone 2nd hand. I purchased my s20 plus for $700 + tax. And I kept my Pixel 3 instead of a trade in.
DON'T BUY EXYNOS S20 LINE MODELS! DON'T DO IT. YOU WILL REGRET IT. btw the offer you got isn't special or cheap.

That's not going away anytime soon! Unless you step things down a bit.
The Note 20, if it uses the same lens as the S20, will have the same focal uniformity issues up close simply due to the physics in way a lens works. Autofocus has been resolved to acceptable performance with the latest update IMHO.
Eventually, the multi lens fad will pass and they will focus (no pun intended!) on single sensor/lens performance. A 16MP sensor @ f1.2 would be great.

Well you guys were right About galaxy series I just used 20.min and go back to my pixel 3 xl again. Today I am sending back to Samsung.
According me :
Great screen
Fast smooth experience but
So many bulky apps working under ground
Samsung store it all about for kids
pixel phones pure Android experience
And there is no direct casting from your phone unless if u are usingnetflix, YouTube etc, maybe I could not find it
In addition I saw slightly green line on edges
It is still so good for many users after pure Android experience it is hard to go back multimedia phone for me
I will check note 20; iPhone 12 or pixel 5 in the future.
I always admired of Sony phone however there no iOS support.
In the past I used Huawei p20 pro, xz premium iPhone 7,8 blackberry ,Samsung s10,20plus note,9 , even Nokia's nexus
In my experience my long run phones either note series, Google phones or iPhone.
However thank all y'all spending time and helping me.

Why would you buy a device before you tried it out? You could have tested a demo before you spent all that money. Plus, you paid more than you should have, the S20 Plus 128Gb with Snapdragon SoC is available on eBay for $825.00 without all the Carrier Bloatware. Also, why do you think the Note Series will function better than the S20 Plus? They almost identical, same UI besides the S-Pen, Same SoC, a bigger battery and different camera won't overcome the issues you have with the S20 Plus.
