I was thinking just now that maybe someone could start out using a GSI as a base but then compensate for Samsung's vendor layer and turn it into a non GSI rom that's patched specifically for the FE. get things like the camera and fingerprint reader fully working.
It is true that it is surprising it is the first time that I have a Samsung since the Galaxy S3 without custom Rom...

Thanks for the offer guys, but i will have to pass, i specialize in exynos devices only, and i only make ports that are 1 version or more above stock. the S20 FE right now would not benefit from me.
aside from that the rom you linked seems to be "Rom control" oriented (Modifying UI elements etc) you might find better luck with other people, i have linked the thread to my dev mates, maybe one of them will be interested for such roms or AOSP development.

Well @afaneh92 needs a device to get TWRP fixed to enable external SD card support, which we will need for custom rom's moving forward IMHO.
He is a Lineage OS and twrp dev, I have posted a link to your post in his TWRP thread.

Actually i am making a device tree right now, hopefully i can have lineage and some other roms ready in a week or two (I am very new to custom rom developing) !!!

Wew! Would love to get hands on and contribute towards custom development for this device.
I just wish someone can extend this gesture for us Exyon users . I am quite happy with my Exyon device, it's just that down the line in the future being able to apply different optimized kernels, custom ROMs and etc is something that we will be missing out it seems. (that's my personal grudge with this division between chipsets, really)

I've great respect for @sac23 as a custom ROM developer and other developers who contacted me.
But I've chosen @fivanbe as my favourite developer, since I already know/had his ROM on my S7edge.
He surely will develop a good custom ROM for us all.
I'll contact him now to discuss details and send him my S20 FE 5G.
Hopefully we will see a custom ROM for our devices soon.

I already own a S20 FE 5G but I just use it for personal use
Was thinking to make updated Rom with newer features provided by Samsung every month like I'm doing for S9/Note9

I am a proud owner of a Huawei H881C.
This is a very nice, budget friendly phone.
I know this phone has root.
I also know that there has been trouble with getting a custom recovery to "stick".
We Plus owners now have access to the bootloader unlock codes that we desired so much in the beginning.
If there is a developer out there who might want to take on the project of crafting a custom recovery and/or custom ROM (be it a port of an existing ROM or not) I will gladly donate.
Please, this phone deserves some support from the amazing Devs out there.
This is somewhat a petition, more so a solicitation.
Hopefully enough Plus owners will comment their support and offer any form of donation to this cause.
With such a nice spec layout (minus the built-in memory, which is partly why this thing needs to have a recovery and ROMS!!) it would be a shame to be stuck with rooted stock.
Please, all you wonderful Devs out there heed my call, my yearning, for a better Huawei experience and help craft a recovery/rom for this device!

There is already an early stock custom kernal available. dev is working on the Cyanogenmod Rom also.

I have h811 T-Mobile...nothing in the works yet afaik...hoping to find a dev to build for all unlocked models and who is willing to add support for devices that get unlock/workaround down the line

Fair enough, I didn't know you had the H811. Though I'm sure Mythops234 will be more than willing to look at other devices once CyanogenMod is into at least a beta state. Why not send him a PM.

When I get home from Saudi Arabia I can put together a nice stock custom kernel. It was on my list of things to do, but I have been hung up on getting a deodexed rom base going. Its proving to be a major pain in the ass. 64 bit isn't being very cooperative and coupled with the weird mounts and other generally weird crap with this phone afaik everyone working on traditional zip flashable roms are running into the same issues. I suppose I can put that on the back burner and make a kernel... I wont be home for another week or 2 though.

Why is there currently no Modded ROM's for the S20 series?
The phone has been out for quite sometime. Surely someone has one who is a developer and can create at least the basic ROM output of debloating, a few tweaks here and there.
Is it because of the TWRP zip process not being developed yet?

Is it likely there will be a way to continue to get Android security patches/updates after Xiaomi discontinues support for this model (which may only last for 2 years according to https://www.mi.com/global/service/support/security-update.html)? Custom roms would be your best bet, they tend to continue support way after official ends

Xiaomi will eventually end support yeah. When that happens, you should be able to unlock the bootloader and install an AOSP based ROM. Development will be extremely mature by that time so it will probably be an even better experience than the stock firmware

I'm afraid we will have to longer period of time or some unofficial update only as this phone is not globally launched, dev is very slow.
Yes i feel it was a big mistake to buy this device. No TWRP, No unofficial ROM even No update from OnePlus (Android 12) as agreed.
