How to increase music volume? - Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite Questions & Answers

Hi,
I'm currently on MIUI 12.6 by xiaomi.eu and somehow I can't increse the volume on the phone while listening via bluetooth in ear headphones.
It says its on maximum, but in comparison to my old Redmi 4x the volume is at about 75% feeling...
Does anyone know a hidden setting to increase the volume?
Regards

Thanks for the hint! I installed it and it got a bit louder, but still not loud as with my Redmi 4x..
It's so strange.. could it be because of the ROM? On the Redmi4x I use the resurrection remix rom. On the gaugin I use MIUI 12.6 by xiaomi.eu

Also I need to add, that I cant find the option to toggle Absolute Bluetooth Volume in Developer Options...

You can adjust the gain in the settings to make it louder etc

Yeah, I did this (see screenshots) but no improvement here I also shared two screenshots from the developer settings section, to prove that there's no option to toggle Absolute Bluetooth Volume

You can try directly editing the mixer_paths.xml yourself
Use a file browser browser with root access
Find vendor/etc/mixer_paths.xml
You will need to research yourself what values needs changing to increase volume
I have included the stock mixer_paths.xml below - you could try simply replacing your one with the stock one however it may cause a bootloop. Make sure you backup your existing file first. Set file permissions to 6-4-4 or rw-r-r
If it bootloops just replace original file via twrp or restore your twrp backup

Installing V4A or other audio mods

Hello everybody. I have Magisk and couldn't install Viper module, neither the usual viper .zip via TWRP.
Have you been able to install any of the available audio mods on your Z2 Play?
I too am interested.
I prefer the Atmos version, ViPERAtmos 4.8 Sony Beats Universal Edition, but I don't think it's compatible with Nougat.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I installed ARiSE sound system in my z2 play, which contains Viper and Dolby Atmos
I have a module called viper 4arise installed and its working very well

Could you post a link to the download / thread that worked for you? I can try to install and make a simple tutorial for other folks.
Thanks!
Here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/r-s-e-sound-systems-auditory-research-t3379709 install the last stable version
Thanks! I've looked at ARISE a few times, but it seems life meant steps to install. I guess I'm going to have to bear it.
Does it sound as good at Atmos?
I manage to install it. It's overall pretty simple. You can extract the installation .prop file to /emulated/0 and edit it there to get a 1 cycle install. Otherwise your first try will do just that and return an error (so you'll have to edit the file anyways).
I tried all versions of viper there but none worked (all showed abnormal status) also, remember to mark for installation the Magisk compatibility.
I'm using Atmos, working very nicely, but still wish Viper had worked...

That's weird, I have Viper and atmos working in my device. Previously I set SElinux permissive and installed Busybox
Oh that must be it. I have it on enforcing. Will test with permissive then. Thanks!
Well, it worked! AriSE with SELinux mode changer set to permissive.
Thanks a lot!
With Dolby and viper our speakers sound WAY better! Headphones are even more awesome!

Find "RX7 DIGITAL VOLUME" and change it's value from 84 to 87
For headphones volume -

4. Reboot device.
Just hit the thanks button if it helps.

Not yet. Try clearing cache/dalvik or dirty flashing the ROM. But this mod won't get any ROM into bootloop.

Sound output through headphones seem a bit increased but yes, through speaker it's still a bit low. Guess we have to wait devs to increase the volume in their respective Oreo ROMs first.
Works Good. I'm on AOSP Extended Oreo 8.1 beta (26/12/2017 build) and I can observe significantly better sounds while watching videos (in MX player) through Phone's speaker.
Thanks for sharing.?

It's a Magisk module, so yeah you need to have Magisk installed.
OP updated with steps to increase volume and other details.
I flashed this mod on Validus 8.1 but no Dolby app has appeared on my phone and on top of that, my AR Sticker pack has also been disabled although both of em being shown as enabled on Magisk Manager.

You only need to uninstall magisk completely and re-install it. No need to uninstall all the modules. Magisk will start working again along with the modules.

[MOD]<--- ViPER4Android-2.3.4.0 + 2.5.0.5 --->[Magisk][Stock/AOSP]

ViPER4Android installer
I have had the Pixel 2 XL for only a few days, and am still undecided on whether i will continue with the device. In the meantime here is ViPER4Android for the Januray update.
Please note, for stock pixel rom, you need to use the Magisk modules and not use the system installer. The system installers only seem to work for AOSP based roms like LineageOS.
These are provided as is, and i may not be supporting this for long. As of today i still have the device and can mess around with it. Lets see if this thing can keep me interested.
Magisk Modules, should work on Stock and AOSP
WETA V4A 2.3.4.0 Magisk Module
WETA V4A 2.5.0.5 Magisk Module
V4A System installers, installed to system/vendor permanently AOSP only, and you have to have verity disabled
WETA V4A 2.3.4.0 System installer AOSP
WETA V4A 2.5.0.5 System installer AOSP

Welcome back! Good to see you developing for us again, thanks for all of your work, past and future.
I flashed WETA V4A 2.5.0.5 Magisk Module on stock 8.1 with magisk root. I am on ElementalX Kernel. Works great for when Pandora or some music app is playing. It correctly says it is processing. The issue I have is it doesn't process any ringtones or notifications. When I had this installed on 7.1.1 and Franco Kernel, I could noticeably hear an improvement with ringtones and notifications. Any ideas why this no longer works?
Thank you soo much ! It works flawlessly on my Android 9 head unit hal9k v4 mod. For the head units It becomes complicated when other v4a modules requieres volume control keys during installation
@ Mentalmuso found a bug in 2.5.0.5 magisk module. After a reboot ViPER Clarity feature needs to be selected/opened although its enabled

[SOUND][8.X][D6603][Z3][CARBON ROM] Dolby Digital Plus AND Viper4FX for OREO

Just want to sharing some alternative to making our D6603 sounds boom... and seems can implement to other phone because all of components that i have installed are universal (wish work on all phone other than D6603), just try it but don't blame me
After fighting about 2 weeks to getting DOLBY (effect) including VIPER4 in my D6603 with latest CARBON Rom, finally i found an alternative for that.
Because when i try to install Dolby Atmos (standard/unity) always "unsuccessful", installed but no app in drawer that made me headache
My phone configuration :
- Magisk 17.1 + init.d injector
- SELinux permissive.
- AML and ACP installed. Get in here (for supersu seems AML modul not necessary because the installer will search magisk directory, so you just need ACP modul)
- Viper4 FX from here
- DOLBY DIGITAL PLUS for 8.x (i found in somewhere at XDA, thanks already make it work on OREO :good: really appreciate it)
Step: i am installing all components below via TWRP (you can try with your own way)
1. DDP.
2. VIPER4FX. (to escape from Viper4 FX asking the driver installing repeatedly, please install it after DDP or other sound mod.)
3. ACP (additional).
4. AML (essential), better doing at last because will detect and patching audio module on DDP and VIPER4 for compatibility.
On each step i do reboot then back again to TWRP (only want to making sure the components already installed).
When all done let try boot to system and open Viper4 (check the driver is installed or no), next playing the music, the lasting is open DDP to getting more bass. ENJOYING your music.
Noted: for compatibility reason i remove musicfx/audiofx from system. please do backup first.
Results :
- Phone speaker, WORK.
- Headset, WORK.
- Bluetooth speaker, WORK.
- Jack 3.5, WORK.
Playing music via Spotify and internal player all work.
If it work on different Phone than OP, please report back. Would be appreciate it.
Thanks to
- @Myself5 for Carbon Rom
- @guitardedhero @worstenbrood for DOLBY DIGITAL PLUS 8.x
- @nailyk for the TWRP
- @ahrion @Zackptg5 for Viper4 FX AML ACP
- @topjohnwu for Magisk
- @matt1313 that already provide DDP installer for 8.x
Work like a charm
Thank you

DDP need permissive mode, will set by dolby.sh in init.d
If your rom doesn't have init.d but you use Magisk, just copy dolby.sh to /sbin/.core/img/.core/ service.d or post-fs-data.d
Viper4 can work on enforcing mode.

your init.d work, right? Because i just try installed DDP only on 5.x firmware with supersu and work :good:. How about /system/su.d any issue or no?
In my opinion, this DPP actually can running on 5.x-8.x firmware with supersu/magisk. See this video to confirm on 5.x ...sorry, no idea probably the issue came from stock rom.

DDP doesn't work on all 8.x firmware & works on older android, it might work for you but not everyone, thus it was said in Arise thread that DDP won't work on all 8.x, init.d & su.d works here.
Im using redmi 4x with latest aex oreo rom
- works on speaker
- DDP crashes sometimes
- when using headset both DDP and Viper doesnt works on spotify and music player, but in youtube or other video player it works well.
Maybe you can help me fixing this problems, thanks

Blocked option to switch selinux enforced to permissive on custom android 10 roms.

I have had Redmi Note 8 Ginkgo since December. From then on, I am waiting patiently for the appearance of refined custom roms. Recently, roms have finally appeared where all camera lenses work! But I miss one thing very much... Since I had the RN4x I have been using the Dolby Plus mod. In the RN8 it clearly improves the sound, has more bass and is louder. I mean the sound on the built-in speaker, not on the headphones. Dolby Plus can handle bass better on the built-in speaker than the Viper4Android.
This mod however requires SeLinux to be permissive. All android 10 roms that I tried have a SeLinux Enforced kernel - for some reason switching between enforce and permissive is blocked. Even some roms do not allow flash another kernel.
How do I unlock the ability to switch Selinux enforced to perrmisive when the magisk SELinux Manager module is not working?

I did read your entire post. I was just offering an alternative, so whether or not you want to give it a shot, is upto you. If it works for you, great. If it doesn't, get in touch with your ROM developer. Over, and out. :good:
SELinux
There's an app called SELinux mod changer, try that. I used that to change permission to permissive on my ginkgo(Android 10) and it works perfectly.

Respect man, this magisk module works!
The few modules that I was using apparently did not work properly with android 10. I thought the kernel was blocked in some way, and this is a matter of choosing the latest selinux switcher.
Here is the link to the source where this magsik SELinux Switch module comes from:
https://github.com/nipunnarang/selinux-switch
Do you know how with some magisk module or buildprop modification to:
- set the back button to close / kill the application
- the appearance of recent applications was like in android oreo?
I found scripts for it once, modules and now I can't. I prefer not to install xposed

Good to know it works. I made it. The link you've provided is my GitHub. Also, no, I don't know if there's a Magisk module for those two things. For the former, you can try using Button Mapper. It requires root, but not Xposed. And for old Oreo style recents, it needs a modification to the ROM, which can't be done via a simple Magisk module.
