Beta testers needed - Testing

Hey everyone!
My company, Stipop, is launching a sticker SDK that can be implemented into any app with chat.
We have been working with API until recently, but now we are also releasing a sticker SDK. As it is getting near ready, we want to make sure everything works properly, and therefore are looking for beta testers who can help us with that.
We are looking for developers with different backgrounds and experience levels to gather as much feedback as possible.
We never charge beta participants anything (obvious, but mentioning that just in case), and we offer multiple participation rewards for your time.
To learn more about beta, participation rewards, and sign up, click here: https://link.stipop.io/3xIhpBM
Thank you and looking forward to testing with you!

Visual Voicemail for Google Voice

I've seen a lot of dialers for google voice, but is anyone working on a visual voicemail app for it? I tried one, but it just crashed my phone.
Something simple would be nice in the format:
img260.imageshack.us/img260/8013/exmpl.jpg
Sorry can't post pics yet because of site restrictions.
Should open quickly with stored login. Should only download the message when the play button is pressed to a specified folder in options and then automatically play in background. Also should be an option to limit to display the last n messages, because some of our google voice accounts are quite full. Messages should be displayed from most recent whether they have already been read or not.
Anything like that? Ah, that would be nice. I'm sure many of us would chip in towards its development.
I suppose that if people would be willing to chip in some contributions ($$) to me, I could take on this task for the people....
I hate being that guy who wants the money, but if you look at what I have done, I have done quite a bit for free, and am still doing quite a bit....

How much to get this started? I often donate but it's normally a pittance compared to the work. However, a GOOD gvoice app would be great. Any that I have seen are a shame...
The amount of $$ i get 'committed' to this project will determine its quality. I am not asking for some obnoxiously large amount, just a little something. Of course it would take me a little bit of time to read up on, and understand any API's or code i need to interface with GVoice, so if you want me to dev it, don't be super-pushy on a quick quick release date. Plus, if I dev this app, you get my promise to provide updates, fixes, etc. as they are needed (and since this will be for $$, it will take priority over my other Apps).
With that being said, I am off to research GVoice API's and the likes...
Okay,
So after some researching, I CAN make this application happen. I would like if there could be some sort of pledge of donations I could get upon completing this (as I will continue to update it to make it better)...seeing as I am engaged in a couple of projects now, but if nobody really wants to donate, I can add this to my ToDo and do it when i finish up everything else i am engaged with...

sent you an invite
Well, I'm definitely in for the donation! Just got my tax return.
I see there is a bit of interest in an app of this sort.
Thank you, Cyclonezephyrxz7 for volunteering your time. I'm going to check out some of your other projects.
I have done my research (like i mentioned prior), and I have done some coding...and I have a sort-of-beta working...but I do not plan on beta testing or releasing yet as it is GUI-less and limited in functionality...In due time I will release a beta/proof-of-concept version that will provide some functionality...If people are satisfied with it then (and want the extra features)..if I get donations I can release a fuller version sooner....but as I said, it is currently on the end-ish of my to-do list (which is a decent size)
Made a small donation to help in developing this.
Also encourage others to do the same. The main part is the voicemails and checking through the phone browser is a bit inconvenient. Hopefully this project can get some steam and move up the to-do-list.

I'm working on a project to handle this, take a look at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671086
I hate to be that guy begging for invites but I'll definitely donate if I could get a google voice invite as well. Heck I'd pay for an invite without the new project hah.

Ive sent you an invite to the email you mentioned ive got 2 left and would love to donate them to anyone that might be able to give sl4sher a hand on the app hes developing at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671086
Still no luck! PM me if ya need someone to help test any progress you make.
I'd give invites to those helping to get this project completed, but unfortunately google still hasn't given me any.
Sorry I didn't see your thread earlier, Sl4sher. Seems pretty close to what I had in mind. I'll download it and try it out. Haven't heard anything back from Cyclonezephyrxz7.
Sorry for the lack of updates...It has been sort of a hectic week around me...
Anywho, I have the program functions 90% working, and I am building a compelling and easy-to-use GUI...I am working on both a SmartPhone and PPC release, I just have to get some testing done, and I will be releasing this...Just hold tight.
*I'll try my best to have it done by the end of the weekend, and ready for testers, but if I take past wednesday of next week, there may be some delay as I will be out of state for that weekend....I'll try my best to beat this time-frame though.*
Thanks for the update. Been using Sl4sher's, but I dislike not having the play button on the first page, as well as no contact name or play length. Also some errors in there.
Looking forward to testing out your release. Enjoy your vacation!

One app that you should avoid

I recently tried the Graphic ly comic reader app in the Windows Phone Marketplace. Hoping to find a comic reader as good as droid comic viewer I found myself very very disappointed. The controls are shoddy, pinch to zoom is flakey and you have to zoom all the way out to turn the page. This is a far cry from the original video that was shown to consumers.
I understand that newly released products are no always perfect so I figured I would share my concerns with the developer. Their response was shocking and disappointing.
We would like to improve our WP7 app much more in the future, but I
will be straight with you: due to the low sales of the windows 7
phones we have put the improvement of the app lower on our priority
list than the continual improvement of our other apps.
In the meantime: please check out our adobe air application and our
new web application at:*http://graphicly.com/
Any comics that you buy in any of our applications can be read on any
of our other applications. *Your graphicly login should work on any of
them.
Thanks

Now I know business is business but to release a bad product in the first place is unacceptable especially when the app merely needs some tuning. Due to the lack of planned future support I can only suggest that you guys stay away. Here is hoping that robot comics releases one on WinPho 7.
That is such a load of happy horse****. There are many apps where the developers are frequently updating and providing excellent communications between themselves and the users.
When WP7 takes off - and it will - I hope that many others are aware of the developer's attitude and shut them out. Let the money go to another comic app.
I was very dissapointed with the graphic.ly app, especially compared to what we've seen before. This attitude isn't going to get them any customers. If they're not going to put any effort in the phone app, I don't see any point in buying comics from them or getting their adobe air app.
Shame, i was hovering over it recently....
Thanks for the heads up. I like to stay away from those types of attitudes of devs and updates/support. "EA ruined a good brand after Westwood"
If it's not important enough for them, guess it's not important enough for me to use.

That's depressing. Low WP7 sales volume not good. Hopefully this app dev is just a WP7 hater.
Considering that, at least in the US, folk generally wait until their account is due for a subsidized upgrade before getting a new phone (mine just happened to drop in late November ), it makes sense that sales for WP7 haven't exploded yet. I could see holding off on making an app until WP7 grows in market share, but to release a shoddy app, charge for it, and then not support it just because it's not a cash cow yet is simply horrid customer relations. Seeing as the potential dollar is apparently all that matters to these jokers, I'll be sure and speak with my wallet, and mark this one off of the potential to-buy list.
Hilarious. TBQH.

How would they know this when no one else seems to have this info yet? Perhaps they are basing it on the low sales of their crappy app?
iirc i read some developers are complaining because they have no way to know how much they are selling, and microsoft will start paying in february... so how does this guy know that they are not doing ok?
i call bul****
installed it just to rate it poorly and uninstall it. If you are not going to support your work then don't release it in the marketplace.
OP, I would forward that email to MS support so they know the dev isn't willing to support their app.

On a more positive note, I have contacted Robot Comics, the developer of Droid comic viewer from android. I used thier app right before I went to WP7 and it was very intuitive and easy to use in portrait and landscape. It also supported locally added comics.
After emailing I recieved some very good news.
Thanks Jose! Good news: a WP7 version is in our roadmap.

I am not trying to come across as anyone of importance but I love WP7 and would personally like to see it succeed so I figured the best I can do is let the developers know that they have a potential customer. Also does anyone know how I can get in contact with MS support?

Sorry about that message from Graphicly - it was wrong.
Hi,
Im Micah, CEO of Graphicly. I am unsure of who would provide you that message, that we are not supporting the Win7 Phone application, but it is wrong.
We continue to develop and maintain the applications that our community desire.
The WP7 app that we put out was our v1. We are working to improve the reading experience and other aspects of the application, as we know its it not perfect yet.
Of the applications we have, our Adobe AIR application has been around the longest and has the most development hours into it.
As the WP7 phone continues to grow, we will continue to develop against it.
If you have any questions, or want to discuss this further, I can be reached directly at 720-248-8499 or via email at [email protected] (GTALK too).
Again, I apologize for the confusion, I will make sure that everyone on the Graphicly team understands our product roadmap.

Hopefully someone from XDA can validate, but if this is indeed true I thank you for clearing things up Its nice to see brands out there connecting with their customer and stepping up to the bat like this.
Hopefully we'll see the app improved! You could always open it up on CodePlex and let XDA hackers have at it!
It is indeed me - How would you like to verify it? I can give you my mom's phone number... How about this - we have promo codes enabled in the AIR app. Use "techcrunch" (no quotes) and get a free comic. We used it for an old techcrunch article, and I think its still alive. Then when you use the WP7 phone, it will be in there, and you can give me solid feedback on the mistakes we made.
Tell me more about CodePlex. I would be happy to let the community at it. We are doing something similar with our Win7 app. Building out APIs that are secure and can be built on is a personal passion of mine.

I did not want to post the name but originally I wrote the email in reply to the email I received about you guys releasing a Google web app to this emai "[email protected]"
I received a reply back from a Audrey Zarr stating what I posted. I sent her a polite email expressing my dismay with that type of business attitude and never got a reply back. I certainly wasn't trying to slander your company but knew it would be best to share this info on the web.
I understand that this is a v1 app and I would have been perfectly happy with a "we are working to improve this app" type of answer. Instead I was given the previously posted information. Currently your app is sitting at 1 star, I would hope you guys would want to improve that. Best of luck on your next release.
yeah... [email protected] is the reply email on our newsletter. Audrey is one of our engineers, and is tasked with answering questions about bugs, issues, feature requests, etc.
Your question is quite valid, and in some ways, her response (we are a small company, and we have to focus on the products our community want) is correct. Except the part about us abandoning development on the WP7 app.
A couple of other points (really just FYI). The video from the MIX conference was a proof of concept. We were asked to show off what Deep Zoom would look like in our reader, and so we did. As the months passed and the WP7 software progressed, it became clear that we wouldnt be able to have deep zoom on the finished app.
Other issues: The dev phone we had was a samsung, which is not even one of the release phones. It made things like having pinch/zoom work properly really tough.
So, do we want to make the app better? Of course we do. We want all of our apps to be solid and work at a high level. I believe that the WP7 platform has potential.

I understand that there were time constraints but phone operating systems as of recent seems to lean on their marketplace for success. A bunch of half baked apps won't appeal to anyone.(see palm) That was my main reason for reaching out. I also understand focusing on what the market wants, Microsoft has deep pockets and this OS will eventually be pretty successful. I will spend my money and time on apps that were well made and supported from the get go. As a vendor of comics I am sure your business relies on repeat business.

Crossing my fingers.
As he stated the other day, its going to be released....and it was, i have it and its awesome for beta program!!
He has been a long time developer around this community for quite some time. I wouldn't doubt him.
Can someone drop the beta program anywhere here. I couldn't find how to register as a beta tester.
You can register, just by going to his site and donating just a few bucks and send him email on site with your confirmation number from paypal and he will register you right away, and then you will be able to see the beta test forum to download the program. I would love to share but i jad to pay my dues and its not finished and am sure he wouldn approve of distribution of his release for free. He could probably use the donation to further devote his time to finish the release in full access of the program instead of partially being done. Soon it will offer a unlock tool but not the jailbreak because there will be an official way to unlock devices without compromising security or IP.
For those that dont have his site here is the link: http://www.touchxperience.com/
I remember donating some $ to him years ago when i was on windows, before i discovered Android
There was alot of controversy back then regarding his work always being in beta stages and nothing final ever being released.
Something can only be in development for so long before people just get over it. When i donated it looked unreal and Android was just about to come on the market, look at it now.
Dont get me wrong, ive used his work before, he definitely knows his stuff but i always found it funny whereby making a donation entitles you to be a tester, most other developers on here who require beta testers is first in best dressed vs pay me money. Sure he needs $ to purchase more devices for testing but each to their own.

Xposed for Lollipop: Supporting Development

All,
I'm not sure how many feel about the Xposed project, but given that at least a couple of projects that I have invested in (via "donations") depend upon the Xposed infrastructure--namely "XPrivacy"--one might say that I have a vested interest in seeing this project evolve. Perhaps others share similar feelings, especially as many of us upgrade to 5.0, compliments of DomPop and ahead of T-Mobile's official release.
In light of the creator's recent comments (found here: http://www.androidauthority.com/xposed-framework-lollipop-540928/), I'd like to begin a conversation centered on a focused support initiative that will (hopefully) raise the spirits of the developer community to extend upon their work and bring the Xposed platform/functionality to the next generation of Android.
In brief, I'm not certain how we might organize a support base, but I'm hoping to begin a conversation that will catch the attention of folks, who, more capable than me, can reach a wider audience.
What do you think?
Thx,
R

Honestly, he's one of the most well-known devs and his framework is used by a ton of people. I'm pretty sure he already has quite a large support base. And with respect to Xposed (which I use, love and miss dearly on Lollipop), the Android version distribution numbers were just released and showed that Lollipop hasn't even reached 0.1% of device yet. (http://www.androidauthority.com/android-distribution-numbers-578988/) I think that, once more devices get Lollipop, there will be a push for an update of Xposed. We just have to be patient.

Important! Attention frustrated le1 pro x800 US users, campaign to get source code

Hi Guys,
I am fairly certain that many of you will have been as frustrated as I am about LeEco's response to our requests for the source code for our devices. Many of us have been met with we did not release the phone to the US market so please contact the 3rd Party seller. You and i know that this is an unacceptable stance and in breach of the GNU etc.
I think it's time for all frustrated owners to show LeEco what we think of their stance, and take a stance of our own as many of us have already started to do, and see if we can twist their arm a bit. The best way in my opinion is to hurt the company where it hurts most, and that's in the pocket and in the public eye. I therefore recommend that all users go to their face book account and leave a review of 1 star and explain why. Making sure you also mention our device in the comments section. This is bound to hurt and just over the last day i have seen their review score drop a few points. Now if everyone who signed the petition did this they would likely have a score near 1 out of 5. Which is roughly what I would give their service just now.
I have also been instructed by Lemall.US to email their opensource team a request to release the code which I have done and hope many will take time out to do the same.
Keep in mind we have been treated completely different to the buyers of the CN model who seem to get endless updates. While we get BS!
All of these reviews can be changed in the future if they release the source code and let us be free of their crappy, malware firmware.

Most recent reply suggests its working -
Denis our LeEco Global team has been contacted regarding this issue. We are investigating why the Le1 Pro x800 source codes were never released as part of the petition. We are pushing the LeEco Global Team to resolve this issue for you in a timely manner. The LeMall and LeEco US Teams were unaware of this issue until we received the reviews, but we will work to get this resolved for you. We hope you understand this device is not connected to our region and this is why our teams aren't able to resolve this for you immediately. We will keep in touch. -Matthew, LeMall US Team
Seems to be definitely working, now at 87 one star reviews and certainly LeMall US Team have taken notice, but we must keep the pressure up.
48 hours have now passed and 49 reviews by US X800 Users.
What can we achieve at this rate in the next 48 hours?.
This is awesome considering the Campaign is in its infancy and only went live on a few other sites last night so hopefully it will pick up exponentially over the next few days. Like the petition on change.org did.
We need to try and aim for at least another 63 reviews, so that we equal their 5 star reviews and they will hit the 2.5 rating, but obviously the more the better, so keep on spreading the word.
Still no further news from LeEco since this morning and not so much as an acknowledgement from le.opensource. But i am in communication with them in all channels and not giving up.
I honestly believe we are not far from cracking this.
I will keep everyone updated with any new developments as soon as I hear.
Awesome effort so far guys!
Respect!
