Question How are your Mi Mix Fold since you bought it? Durability, bugs ect... - Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold

Hello!
I am looking to buy this Mi Mix Fold for around 1300 euro brand new. First if all, do you think it is worth the money?
How is durability? Is it better than the first generation Samsung Galaxy Fold?
How is the hinge? Does it feel good?
How do you feel about the lack of OIS and wireless charging?
How is MUI on this fold? Is it buggy?
TWRP anytime soon? Anyone using Magisk?
Whats your overall view of this foldable phone?
Hopeful for answers

Hello!
Kindly find below my feedback, I hope it will be useful for you to take the decision.
I am looking to buy this Mi Mix Fold for around 1300 euro brand new. First if all, do you think it is worth the money?
In my opinion it worth the money.
How is durability? Is it better than the first generation Samsung Galaxy Fold?
Its not durable, you should handle with care (office use). Yes better
How is the hinge? Does it feel good?
Yes.
How do you feel about the lack of OIS and wireless charging?
I am using normal charging. its good. Chinese rom
V12.0.19.0.RJTCNXM
How is MUI on this fold? Is it buggy?
Chinese rom is ok. no bugs but needs improvements. which is very slow
TWRP anytime soon? Anyone using Magisk?
Awaiting.... but no use as there will be no custom roms as expected.
Whats your overall view of this foldable phone?
Overall is very good phone, its better than Mate xs and Samsung fold 2, but I did not try mate x2 which is in my opinion better than our mix fold specially the external screen. (mix fold is narrow).

Thank you very very much for your answer!

It's all good. The sound is out of this world. Expected for 4 speakers. It's good on all points you mentioned.
Mines going up for sale cause I have the mate x2 too. It has a better camera which I need cause I want the best pics with my young kids

Someone posted this further up. That hit the nail on the head. Mate x2 might be slightly better. Only due to its ridiculously good camera. The form factor is better on the mi mix fold, videos are larger cause of this, websites look better, x2 is too square like.
If you need best camera, x2
If you need best video watching experience and music playback, mix fold

Congratulations

I see there are screen protectors applied, both on the inside screen and outside. Is the screen protector on the inside big screen removable? Or will that kill the screen? Anyone tried to remove it?
I really hope that Xiaomi didn't do an oopsie here like Samsung did with the first 'unreleased" fold

No not removable, and you cannot put any extra screen protector on it.

I just bought one to Giztop now and its an amazing phone...12/512GB... Miui is near perfection fast and many tweak options the pictures are amazing and you can take very incredible photos ... the only annoying thing is after updating to Miui 13 Android 12 PC MODE DO NOT longer work ..

Fold1 USB hardware port is defective: only after some fiddling it sometimes allows for charging, and I haven't been successful to get a USB disk working...Looks like a deadly hardware failure after 18 months of ownership...I'm currently in Germany, but I'll be to China by the end of February. Anybody some ideas on how to fix that?

Should i buy it? or one plus 5?

Hi all,
Im looking for a new phone, i currently own a redmi note 3 pro, but i want a better phone overrall, i always loved mi mix, altough it was too expensive for me and a bit too big, plus the camera isnt that great..
Well, mi mix 2 was announced, kinda disappointed in some way, but i still like it, camera is good (could be better), dont care about no headphone jack, only thing that i would really like is the double camera, on the other hand, there is one plus 5, ~100€ less than mi mix 2 on gearbest, great phone overall, nice camera, but the design isnt as good as mi mix 2....
Well, im sure some of you guys have the mi mix 2, do you recommend it or should i go for one plus 5 or another phone?
Also i was looking now at the LG G6, looks cool too.

Well I couldn't resist and already bought the mi mix 2 on gearbest, but I made the mistake of buying the 64gb when the 128gb was only 10€ more, only saw it after, thanks for the feedback tho, got me more confident.
Hopefully we get some custom roms like lineage soon.
Does it come with tempered glass? If not where I can buy one
Definitely Mix2 is better than OP5
Well, I'm in the same place as were you, ShadyGame, but I'm more patient
MI Mix2 is beautifull for me, my only concern is about GPS accuracy (I know Mi5 had problems), so I wait for some owners opinions

I couldnt resist too and bought the device also on gearbest today. Im curious when it will arrive.
It will be my first xiaomi device so im also curious about MIUI and the rom development for the mix 2 ..
I hope it wasnt a wrong decision to buy mi mix for 520€ instead an Galaxy S8 for 520€ too ^^
I purchased one last week, have the Redmi Note 3 Special Ed. Was tossing up between this and the Oneplus5 as well.
Hope it arrives soon, any thoughts on staying with the ROM it comes with. Here in Australia if I root or unlock the phone my banking apps will not work.

i have a redmi note 3 pro, it was awesome, but i cracked the screen and i want something top line xD
galaxy 8 here costs like 800€ in my country, simply not an option when i can buy mi mix 2 for 530.
I own both currently. The OP5 is much lighter and the Oxygen OS is much more stock. The MIX2 just looks more modern with the bezeless design. Talking about weight again, the MIX2 almost makes my hands tired holding it for a long time compared to the OP5. The ceramic is absolutely beautiful, but don't know if its worth the weight since you cover it up with a case almost immediately. Performance wise, they are similar. Both are snappy and get stuff done. Camera wise, both aren't as good as the top flagships, but they do the job sufficiently.
OxygenOS is WAY better than MIUI. It was just easier to setup with launchers and the interface is just cleaner. I was having all kinds of trouble with notifications with MIUI, but I finally have it working right. Maybe things would be different with the global rom?? Who knows, but I can't wait for some alternate ROM to show up to clean things up. My final decision is going to be to stick with the MIX2. Reason being I can't stand the 4 year old design that Oneplus stole from apple.

I dont really care about the OS when im buying a new phone, i know i will be rooting it and installing a stock rom, hopefully we get lineage soon...untill then ill stick to MIUI is not that bad in my opinion.
What do you guys think how long will this device live?
I am still using a Oneplus One, which is pretty old by now - so I tend to settle on phones and only switch once something is broken or I'm really impressed. Development for Oneplus One ROMs / Kernels is still going on, because it was a highly anticipated phone and had many users. Is the Mi Mix 2 compared to the OPO a niche product?

It will live untill you break it xD, i mean, look at that screen, never gets old, with snapdragon 825 and 6 gigs of ram i think it will be a good phone for the years to come...the only thing i wish it was better is the camera, from what i've seen, still didnt receive mine, but i dont expect the quality of an iphone or s8, or even LG v30.

Oneplus 3 -> Mi Mix 2

Hi guys. I'm a proud Oneplus 3 owner and I've been having this device since it's launch. Now I think it's time to upgrade. I always loved MIUI and now I also like the design of the MiMix 2. What the the opinions of an mix 2 user? Maybe someone upgraded from and op 3 as well. What do you think about the phone? Should I wait for mi mix 3?
I upgraded from a OP3. I was totally fed up with the poor battery life of the OP3 and Oneplus getting more shady by the day. Sold my OP3 and bought a Mix 2 at launch. I'm very happy with my Mix 2, the screen and design is beautiful, you will not be dissapointed.
I am running AndyYan's LineageOS and it's pretty bugfree and rock stable for me!

Lovely, someone to talk to. Do you miss the amoled screen from op3? Also, is there any reason why you're not using MIUI, or that's just personal preference? How would you compare these two devices? Thank you

Don't miss the amoled screen at all, I feel like the Mix 2's screen is a lot more natural and color accurate. Maybe you'll miss the blacks just a little bit. Personally I don't value oled that much. Both IPS LCD and Amoled have their pros and cons.
I have a love/hate relationship with MIUI. It has it's beauty but it also has it quirks. It's definitely one of the best Android mod's out there imo. The beauty of Xiaomi phones is that you have a choice, unlike with Samsungs. At the end of the day, I just love stock Android too much.
The Mix 2 will definitely feel like an upgrade over the OP3. Especially because of the beautiful ceramic design and the screen.

Imo the mix 2 is the best looking phone of 2017. I don't know why but I always loved the feel and look of MIUI, ever since I had my first android phone (Samsung galaxy mini) I always wanted to have a stage build.

Yeah same here, I have always been fond on MIUI's UI design too. Especially the look of the status bar icons are very good. But I just prefer stock Android because of it's simplicity and the stock notifications.

It is a beautiful phone for sure, but as ur a oneplus 3 user which was a great phone in itself, i would ask u to wait for a month and go ahead with mi7 with latest soc and sd835 is going to be last gen in 1 month time.
So if u ask me its better to wait.

in the great words of kurt angle , Oh its true its damn true.
I also jumped from op3 to the mix 2 and i'm happy. the snap 835 is a good upgrade, the ufs memory is blazing fast in backup/restore, the screen is amazing, bright and the 18/9 is a nice step forward. Battery life seems quite good too with almost two day span for me. Here is some things i can miss:
- Weight of the phone, this mix 2 is heavy and thick compared to the op3 (and even more with the op5 of my wife)
- Camera quality is far better in the op3 (and faaaaar better on the op5)
- Jack port (miss or not, was a good way to be gifted a good bt earphone )
- Custom Rom support (hope this will evolve the good way in the next months, as firmware & oreo are now available)

Should I?

I chose the Mi Mix 2 over the Huawei Mate 10 because of price, updates and looks and I've not regretted it. It's also one of the few phones without the stupid notch. I recommend that you buy it but don't get it from Lightinthebox. You're better off with Gearbest even if it's a few dollars more.

I love mine. I would debate on whether you should maybe wait for the Mi Mix 2S or not. We are finally at the point where the AOSP ROMs are pretty solid as an alternative to MIUI. So if using something like Resurrection Remix or Lineage OS is a strong desire, then the 2 is probably a better choice over the 2s.

My Mi Mix 2 is coming ^^
I got mine for a few days now and I cannot say anything else that I love it! Definitely it worths its price
I've got the note 8 before and except for the s-pen, I dont miss it. The mi mix has better size, a big screen in a more handly body and it has very nice design. The fingerprint sensor is waaaaaay better. Performing its as well, Samsung is still a little laggy sometimes, here there is no lag at all, everything run so fast... I cannot complain about anything not even for the camera which I readed its trash... its not for me, fulfills perfectly in most situations.
You made a very good purchase, enjoy it

It really depends on what you are looking for. But i love my phone.
I chose the Mi Mix 2 because of the high ratio of display (almost bezel less) and the possibility to use custom rom (but for the sake of argument... Unlocking the bootloader is F***ING ANNOYING).
At this time around, i join with the other users... wait for the official specs of the Mi Mix 2S, before you make a decision.

Maybe they changed the procedure, because i unlocked the BL of a Redmi 3 for a friend of mine. It was quite simple indeed.
But mine was not. I subcribed to the MIUI-Forum, needed a VPN-Client so connect to china and had to wait 72 Hours.

Wtf...
There is some Telegram or WhatsApp group about Mi Mix 2?
Sad story, yesterday I broke my s4 glass, I accidentally dropped it, not once, but twice. First time it strenuously survived, but the second time unavoidably it broke.
So, after half a day of mourning I then didn't look around but went straight reading about mi mix2. And you know what?
It happened that today was the Mi Mix 2S presentation date. :crying:
So now I'm torn. Wait for a while for the 2S or don't look ahead but buy the mix2.
My main concern is about the mi mix 2 OS, it will be global already or will I have to update the software all by myself (or better, thanks to XDA? )

Why would you cry mate? It brings advantages on both ways. Either you pick Mi Mix 2, of which price is already dropping slowly, or you decide to get 2S which will (surprisingly, to be fair) launch with the same price as its predecessors (3299 CNY/ 32999 INR / 530 $) and will sport some important improvements (wireless charging, massive camera upgrade, AI, newer SoC, upgraded curved body). It's up to you what you choose. If you care about the camera at least a little bit, you shoule be aware of the fact that Mix 2's camera is really bad (and I'm generous).
Additionally, Mix 2S supports Project Treble which will drastically facilitate the creation of custom ROMs. So I think the amazing local developers will surely look after this device.

i know, the issue is that I have to change it now. So I doubt Mi Mix 2s will go on the market fast enough. And on the other front if Mix 2's camera is really THAT bad I will have to pass.
I'll have to find another option. Counting also that 6" are too big for me. In the beginning I was waiting for the mi7 but this accident changed my plans.

I understand your situation... Don't you have any spare phone you could use in the meantime? Mi Mix 2S reportedly launches on the 3rd of Apríl (for the rest of world; in China it might have launched already).
Keep in mind that this 6" phone, thanks to almost no bezels, won't increase the size any drastically. My guess (I don't have time to look it up, I apologize) is 1cm for height and basically nothing for width.
Also be aware that Mi line, which you were waiting for, doesn't support many LTE bands. So if you live in Europe, that's a big problem.
For the 2's camera - look up the test on the internet... it's quite average and considering the price it's bad. That's the reason why Xiaomi is releasing a semi-generation phone, mainly improving the camera quality

I googled yesterday to find out any dates (I followed part of the presentation where I only got the prices) but didn't have any luck. Sure if the date is around the April, I can wait. The S4 still works it's the glass that is quite broken. Sorry if I ask again, so the rom won't be localized, given it's just an update it won't mount Mi Mix2 rom?

Feel free to ask anything, that's why this forum exists
I answered you incompletely, confused you - Mix 2S will surely have community support thanks to Project Treble, but it will, of course, come with localized ROM out of box. In their presentation they mentioned a personal assistent - whatever its name was - which they (surprisingly, haha) compared to Siri. Then in the slides they had a line saying for China only, which indicates there will be a global edition not including this feature. So just in case you needed a proof, this probably is one
Btw I'm the same case as you - working on original Sony Xperia Z (2013) with broken screen. However a little more than a half is touch accessible so I'm still surviving and slowly searching for a new phone

Ooohhhhhhhh yeeeaaaahhhhhh, me 2.
Will be awesome and think or really hope it comes with 5G to, but if it don't, they make a 4G and a 5G version ofc, so it will not really be a problem i guees
Last year i heard about m20x very late.
I had my old Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra since 2016 and heard about Mi Max 3 which i bought, but it had a fake rom and i sold it after 1 month.
Then i bought the Samsung Note 8, but sold it again after 1 week, it was all to tiny for me, really... yes.
Then i bought the Honor 8X Max and around same time the Honor Note 10 came to, i bought this to and sold the 8xm again [emoji1787]. I keep the N10 for around 3 month, i really loves it and thheennnnn i heard about my baby Mate 20X L29 (636), then i bought this and one of my daughters got the N10.
But this year no Mi Max 4 and around Honor 9X Max and Honor Note 11, they will not come before next year, because they release them every second year only, so maybe it will be Honor 10X Max and Honor Note 12 instead i think.
So im happy they will release a M30X and even with a larger display, thats i like a lot.
I still dream of a Mate X phone with 16:9 format 6,8 inch in 16:9 could give us a hell of a phone... I will keep on dreaming LOL.

Yeah i was also on the big phone wagon. I started with Samsung Note 1 (was big in that time) and then bought many more big phones (don't know the time order anymore):
Samsung Note 1,2,3,4,5
Sony Xperia Z Ultra
Huawei Honor X2
Lenovo Phab
Asus ZenFone 3 Ultra
Huawei P8 Max
Honor Note 8 and 10

Don't jump to conclusions. YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7vPJYhtbAo looks more like list of wishes and speculations to me than firm confirmation of Mate 30X launch. On the other side China and the US are still in harsh trading negotiations. I think it's too early to say there will be no Google for Mate 30.

I use Google my self, but to be honest... I would love to try Harmony OS and i will find my self some other stuff mail prg etc etc.
So for me this could be good, Android not that exciting anymore, only minor updates every time a new version comes. And iOS, been there done that.
Its NASTY as we say these days in Denmark [emoji1787][emoji23]

Here they say it will have Android but without the Google apps.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...unch-under-cloud-of-android-ban-idUSKCN1VI240
Huawei will be doing fine with Harmony OS. Who needs google apps when you can have all the Chinese alternative apps. No youtube? Use Youku. No Google search? Use Baidu. No gmail? Use QQ mail.
Frankly, the Mate 20 X is the best of a bad bunch, hardware wise.
The *quality* of the hardware is outstanding. Screen quality, camera quality, performance, build quality etc etc.
However the form factor is crap. All these tall devices waste so much screen area. They're crap for browsing. Crap for productivity. Crap for videos and photos.
At 7.2", the screen has 1.5mm less width than my 6.6" Honor Note 8, and about 16mm more height.
Guess what's more useful in 99% of use cases, and easier to use without thumb gymnastics? The extra width, not the extra height.
For all intents and purposes, the screen feels marginally smaller than my HN8, and definitely more awkward to use.
If a 30 X does appear. I can't possibly imagine it being less than 19.5:9 (20 X is 18.5:9), because they want as big a gulf as possible between normal handsets and the Mate X (and its coming successors). They want you to pay through the nose for usable screen width, and the marketing guys love these nominally diagonally large screen measurements that narrow aspect ones have.
19.5:9 at probably 7.4-7.5" inches ... have fun with that.

I tried making a dummy for the phone to compare the size to my note 5 and I would definitely take 7.4 or 7.5 with more smart aspect like you mentioned, either way this kind of device is for big size phablets fanatics like us, we know what we want and can handle it.
I am a big fan of mate 20X, despite of the notch on the 30x as rumours shows, i'll be waiting for the boss.....

I'd happily take a 7.5-8" device in 16:9 16:10, as you'd actually be getting useful screen area. Even if it was very difficult to fully operate one handed.
Over 7" at 19.5:9 (or even worse) ... it's just pointless. You have huge areas of unused or poorly utilised screen area, and a really un-ergonomic device - unless you have a freakishly long thumb.

I didn't buy the mate 20 x to wait and see if there is a mate 30x.
I don't want too much changes but somethings could get better like higher resolution for more clarity, better video quality / cam etc, maybe a hole bunch camera on the top left side to minimize the distraction etc or even in the middle like the note, an even bigger battery if possible ( 5000 is still awesome) 8 gigs of ram to be standard across all versions with 256 gigs.
I hope they take the pen serious this time... I love love loved the Mate 20 X but I'm being forced to consider the Note 10 because of the lack of pen functionality. Doesn't work near screen edge, short battery, can't use while charging, can't use when dead, button is useless, tip is tacky and lacks feedback, no real software support, etc. I would love to go Huawei again if they put more thought into the pen.

Question Oneplus 9, 9 Pro, S21+, or Ultra? Help me decide

Last week, I switched from a OnePlus 7 Pro to the Galaxy S21. I'm definitely taking my standard S21 back today because I think it's just too small for what I like. Plus, it randomly gets very hot for no reason. This occurs in safe mode as well, so I know it's not any of the apps I'm using. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to go with the 9, 9 Pro, S21+, or S21 Ultra. Of course, the Ultra is top of the line, but it's so big and heavy. I love the size and form factor of the OnePlus 9, but I don't like that it's not QHD. Plus, I've read and watched a lot of reviews that said the Hasselblad partnership seems to be mostly hype, and didn't really make the cameras that much better. That's the only issue I've had with all of my OnePlus devices since the 6. I'm not a crazy camera user, but I do like to get a great photo now and again. A friend of mine said he tried the S21 Ultra, but it didn't really fit well in his front pocket, especially when sitting down. I worry that that would drive me insane.
Depends, do you care about modding or do you just like a phone that takes better pics?
I went with the S21 Ultra and I couldn't be happier.
I was trying to decide between S21 Ultra and 9 Pro and made myself a pro/con spreadsheet (which I've since deleted). For me, the 9 Pro won by like 50% more points so it turned out to be a clear choice. If you don't plan to root or mod, and you don't mind Samsung's bloated OneUI, the score might be closer.

Interesting. I don't know where the OP is located, but I don't think I can buy that version in the US.
I don't have any reason for root with my S21 Ultra. My only reasons for rooting before were for Viper4android and Adaway. Samsung has amazing audio controls and I'm using Blockada for ad blocking.

I have both also. I know I want to keep the OP9 Pro. Right now I'm still within the 30 day return window for the S21 Ultra and testing it against my older Note10+ to see if the Ultra is worth the investment since I have these others.
Audio-wise, I think the S21 Ultra is the best. I have a lot of high end headphones/dacs/amps and I always use my phone as the source (thank you V4A).
I have both myself, the only real reason I got the 9 Pro was the ease of unlocking the bootloader and rooting convenience. I used the S21 Ultra since release and really didn't "need" root, themes readily available, audio is on point. the only real gripe I had was I didn't think battery was all it could be and without root access to the system I was having a hard time solving that. Not that it was bad... Just not what I thought it should have been. With the 9 Pro it started off the same way, but the ability to manipulate various values in the system has yielded a pretty decent days worth of juice. With all that said, my opinion is the S21 Ultra is by far a superior device in just about all aspects, but the 9 Pro is just plain FUN.

It's a global version, but its slower htan the snapdragon
I said this on another thread I think but over recent years I have preferred almost everything with a OnePlus over the equivalent Samsung or Pixel and it was only key features like no wireless charging a slightly sub-par camera and maybe no always on display that saw me ultimatewly choose a samsung or Pixel.
This year it is almost the opposite in that I think I prefer pretty much everything about the S21 Ultra over the 9 Pro, I'd even say that Samsung feels just as fast or faster this year. In terms of things in favour of the 9 pro whilst I think the S21 camera is better overall the Oneplus is better I think for pictures of pet, kids etc where Samsung still blurs often (long-time Samsung achiles heel) and if you pushed me I'd still probably give Oxygen OS the edge over OneUi but that one is far closer than it has been before other than no aptx-hd that is it really.

Interesting, I was testing which phones sound better with my higher end system, comparing the Note 10+, S21 Ultra and the OP9 Pro. The OP9 Pro does sound better with Bluetooth but the other 2 sound better using a USB connection going into my dac. I would say the S21 Ultra edges out best this way (wired), audio-quality wise.

This is just crazy to think. Why not the standard in high def bluetooth sound? Just....what? I also prefer the way games are played on the oneplus which is a huge priority. I love the haptic feedback on what just happen to be my two favorite games. I take about one picture a week so the camera isn't a thing for me but it's nice that oneplus has made a competent one for the last two generations. I love no bloat too. It's all the little things during daily use. I wish it had something like dex but I would rarely use it with my new job like I used to. And I love the rapid wireless charging. My z fold 2 will take over two hours to charge wirelessly from zero. The 50w charger has come in handy so many times. I have had the s21 sitting in my cart at Amazon for over a week now, lol. Trying to resist the temptation.
I do also wish the FPS stayed on the AOD like it does on a Samsung, that is a nice feature.
If it has no card slot I won't even consider it it no matter how good the form factor is.
