Samsung Galaxy K Zoom - when? - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Hi,
newbie here. I wonder if you plan on adding a ROM for the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom. It's an awesome camera phone and has a removable battery (which is not quite up to par with its requirements).
It would be an awesome addition.
Thank you for your time.

Galaxy Nexus Review... let me know what you think

I have been a member of XDA since the Nexus One days (didn't post that much) and imported the Galaxy Nexus as soon as it came out. Recently wrote a review, which focuses more on the overall experience of using the device since technical reviews are abundant... and it would be redundant.
Just curious to know what you guys think of the review, and if you think I summed up using the device relatively well and what you agree/disagree with.
Thanks!

Great review, very well thought out.
As for the camera, its not bad per say, but Samsung set a standard with the sensor with the GSII and many were disappointed it didn't have the same sensor. Mpx don't mean squat if the sensor isn't up up to par.
Everything else with the review great. Great job!
My experience is pretty much the same as yours except for the camera part.. taking advantage of the zero shutter lag produces blurred photos every time. If i take a number of successive shots, more than half of them are not focused.

Definitely agree about the camera. Quality is pretty average (not bad) but didn't meet the expectations set by previous phones.
Thanks for the feedback though... definitely appreciated (both of you)
Great review and very focused writing. I feel same way about you. I love this phone and all the skeptic has been proven wrong when I actually held the phone on my hand. also the camera aspects about your review is spot on. Overall it was fun and exciting review.

Great Review!
I'm on Sprint with an EVO 4G and thinking of switching to Verizon for the Galaxy Nexus.
My main concerns are the following:
Battery Life
Camera (Only 5MP and my current phone is 8MP)
Video Quality
ICS - Any apps you find that don't work on ICS?
NFC - Do you use this? If not, what do you know of it?
You've addressed the battery life and camera in your review. Any help on the others would be very much appreciated.

you do know that Sprint will also carry the galaxy nexus also so no need to switch carriers....? I have GSM version and battery is great (with custom rom/kernel) but I must admit that I HATE THE CAMERA
Yes, I know Sprint will carry it, but they won't have LTE for quite some time still. I'm knew what I was getting into with the Evo 4G and limited WiMax rollout. I don't want to repeat that again with LTE.
Verizon already has LTE where I'm at, so it makes sense to get what I'm paying for to switch.

You do realize that Verizon is 100x better then Sprint right?
See a prior owner of the EVO 4G the GN camera is much better. I also have no compatibility issues with any of the apps I use. If they haven't updated it to be compatile with ICS yet then odds are the app compatibleis not very well supported in general.
One app I am still waiting on though is HBO Go.

Yeah. I just switched my wife to Verizon and I'm 99.9% sure I'll be switching myself as well.
Thanks for the feedback.
Sucks if HBO Go isn't supported on ICS yet. I do use that from time to time now.
Thanks for all the feedback!
I am at work right now, but when I get back ill address each post individually, and also perhaps since there seems to be demand for it start working on technical/ performance review focused on gaming and benchmarks to go along with the experience review.
I really appreciate the feedback, and definitely have more stuff in the works

Will do. After having it only an hour I was already impressed .
I'll report back after more usage.
Now the big question; To root or not to root? I've done it with all my previous phones, but haven't read up on the procedure, caveats, etc for this one yet.

[Q] Anyone coming from Note v1?

Are there anyone here coming directly from SGN v1, who will share their experiences with regards to the differences between v1 and the new Note II? Is it worth getting?

most of the users here ive read are from OG Note.
the difference is great and yes its worth getting. its a huge improvement in everything.
I swapoed fron note1
Note 2 is smoother
Quicker
More fun
Better spen if you use it!!!
Better sound quality and deeper base
Jb is smooth as butter even on stock rom
Screen is better but I can tell its smalker width wise albeit a few mm
Im personally pleased I upgraded altho it isnt a major upgrade as toi me my note1 was and still is a quick and nice phone after putting on custom rom
You would still be happy to upgrade tho and pleased you did!!!
Note 3 got a **** load to live up2 lol
Oh yeah and solit screen multiwindows is cool 2
And this is all b4 the devs create even more magic than they are doing now
Get it get it get it GET it

Had the Note 1 since it came out in October 2011. The most significant change reported here on XDA that convinced me to upgrade is battery life. I'm getting sick battery life, double what Note1 had.
check this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1944775
Used the Note 1 for 9 months. But Note 2 is superior in every respect. It was a great decision to buy the Note 2.
Missing one thing in above
Note 2 is brick bug free
Also come from original Note and only the immense battery capacity is already worth the trip! (Running for over 16 hours now, 4+ hours screen time, battery at 47%...)
After that everything else is bonus: speed, Jelly Bean smoothness, big memory, etc., etc., etc.
Go for it, you'll be in another dimension
Only thing I regret a bit is that with the thinner screen, there's only 4 icons on a row instead of 5 but after a bit of screen rearranging everything is fine.
So far it has been awesome..

Hey, talking about battery life, I have a couple of screenshots to illustrate it. It is way faster than the NOTE1, if you compare both on stock. S Pen is better integrated but only works with Samsung apps. Everything else is integrated. From bluetooth 4.0 to NFC and WIFI direct. I do find the screen of the NOTE1 better, but I guess it is something subjective as most people think the exact opposite.
In the other hand, you no more have the opportunity to copy apps on the external SD so depending of your usage you should bear that in mind. Plus, and this I believe has more to do with JB than Samsung, there is no more UMS support. For windows users it is barely noticeable, but for mac users like me, it is hell!
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Dear SweetPain,
Thank you for your post i have also read elsewhere that its not possible to port apps with the sd card this initially led me to believe that the Note2 does not support sd cards... But this doesnt seem to be the case?
In anycase, its not a concern for me! I dont have that many progames and games installed... When I log on the phone with my gmail account, it will automatically download and install my 20-30 programmes... In 10 minutes it will be ready to go!
Atleast this is what I am hoping for...

[Q] Gnexus or SII?

Hi guys,
I sold my S2 because the screen was broken but now I'm thinking about buy another one.
My doubt is, should I buy another SII or instead go for the Gnexus?
SII - > 250€
Galaxy Nexus -> 275€
Both are new phones and I have the chance to buy for a great price.
I know many of you will say "go for Nexus 4" but it isn't coming to Portugal soon and I need a phone ASAP (nexus 4 is out of stock 4 life).
I know pros and cons of both, but they look very similar and my kind of use fits the both.
My question is, with these prices, which phone would you go?

In my opinion you should try Galaxy Nexus, like I did. I had S2 over 13 month. In short words:
Design = GNexus
Screen = Gnexus
Android = Gnexus
Louder speaker = S2
Funny fact: in Poland new Gnexus is cheaper than S2
And what about:
GPU - S2
Radio - S2
Camera - S2
Tricky decision!

S2 will not be supported a lot anymore but if you get galaxy nexus, you'll at least get the next Android. Also the development on this phone is just crazy. In my opinion, galaxy nexus is a much better phone for 25 extra pound.

Not a decision at all. 1280x720 display is infinitely better than 800 x 480.
That's true, S2 has just received its first leak of JB 2 weeks ago, I believe you guys already have it for months! And if you have a custom rom installed, and another official version comes out, you directly install it over the custom rom? Or the developer updates it to the last official version?
But development is very good in S2 foruns, very good dev's there.
And what about the size, it feels good in hand? For sms, I use T9, is easy to write?
I believe I'm getting a Nexus.

I had an S II for about 12 months then sold it and bought a GNex. My main reason was "updates" as I could not bear anymore sticking to ICS while JB and whatever comes after is probably going for GNex although both of them have the same price.
I think the S II has better hardware in CPU and GPU, but I really did not find much of a difference practically as GNex is really smooth on JB. I did not use it on ICS but seems it was not as smooth as it is now on JB, so probably it does not matter having faster CPU and GPU as long as you are able to run the latest android which is always more optimized than the previous versions thus running smoothly
I really hated TouchWiz and the Vanilla stock experience is really enjoyable for me!
Loud speakers are not an issue for me especially after installing a mod which requires root of course and can be found in the Themes and Apps section.
So I doubt you will really regret switching to a GNex especially after using the S II so a change should be welcomed
Good Luck
Btw, I saw that gnexus doesn't has toggles, is there a option to enable it? Or it exists in custom roms?

wowowow hold on a sec. I'm portuguese too, where did you get those prices? I have only seen 329 for the GNex and 400 for the SII.
i had the tmobile s2 which had the s3 cpu and that phone was laggy as hell and the phone looked like crap with the resolution it has. every icon looks so damn big and ugly. playing games on it even looked like crap. the only thing the s2 has over the gnex is the micro sd card slot. i really wish i had one on my gnex. lol plus you know you will always get the last android updates with the galaxy nexus and it runs pretty damn smooth for an older phone with old hardware in it.

ok (escreve em inglês neste forum).
IMO, the Nexus is really better. I will get it in Christmas probably.
Why the Nexus wins:
-Started to be sold later and will get all the Google updates (and custom ROMs more than the SII);
-Curved screen, IMO this is an awesome design (never saw any phone like this);
-Higher resolution and screen;
-IMO the GPU is better;
Why the SII wins:
-Super AMOLED Plus screen;
-Gorilla Glass (altough reviews say that it doesn't make a difference on the Nexus;
-SD Card support;
-Camera;
Other notes:
-Same processor;
-Both have NFC;
-Nexus battery is a bit bigger, but almost the same.
The support for the Nexus should be all you need.

Opinion about Galaxy Nexus

Hey Galaxy Nexus community!
So, I'm looking forward to buy a new phone and G Nexus is the first one on my list due to price range. Do you guys think it's worthy to buy? I own a Xperia Play and I want to buy other phone because I rarely use the gamepad (and it makes the phone too thick and heavy) and I want a device that runs Jellybean smoothly.
Thanks in advance

Newer is usually better.....USUALLY....the nexus 4 is a good phone but doesn't have LTE .....doesn't work with Verizon....and only has a maximum of 13GB of usable storage....as for the op.....I would wait a couple months if you have an upgrade as MWC and Google I/O are right around the corner....if money is a concern and you don't have an upgrade grab a galaxy nexus....it still got 4.1, 4.1.2, 4.2 and 4.2.2 before any other phones except the other nexus devices....and they're pretty cheap right now....as the person above me mentioned the camera is lacking a bit behind but it hasn't hindered my year with the device at all....good luck

I would rather have a Nexus 4 but it's not easy to get one in my country and the price is a problem :\
Can you tell me how the screen brightness performs outdoors?

Congratulations. you have made a fantastic choice.
I have mentioned this before, but the only issue i face with my Nexus is the camera quality and low sound output of speakers.
Since camera is not a concern for you, and sound can be improved using different mods, the GNex will be a great choice.
The screen on this device is brilliant. Although i have a matte finish screen guard, i am able to see very clearly in almost any light scenario.
And all the other points: Budget, active development, point to the GNex.
Do let us know once you make a decision.

Is it worth buying this tablet ?

HI,
I am recently looking for a tablet for my nephew who likes to do alot of skype and selfie as well as watch cartoons and play games. Is this tab still worth a shot? What about the development for this device till now? Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Still a good buy, my T800 display is the best I have ever seen, and supposedly being updated to marshmallow by samsung within the next couple of months.

Hello Friend,
this tab is long on the market, so the last the last possible new official OS would be 6.0 (supposedly, it should roll out soon, I am writing probably because I won't believe unless I see it). I won't write about unofficial because i haven't use it yet, stock is (FOR MY NEEDS) perfect. But let's back to your topic:
- front camera could be more better for selfies and skype, in my opinion it's low
- display -resolution, colorus , quality - FABOLOUS (referring to cartoons and games)
- battery, I think it could be better, just my opinion, I get 5-6 sot (mixed ,some youtube, but some reading text, some internet browsing) in my opinion it's too low, but of course any user can have even less or much more
-performance idk about games - don't play, but youtube in 1440 p, browsing the internet it's pleasure
- if your nephew is young and doesn't care about screen quality, and may broke tablet easily I would by sth cheaper, with lower resolution , somthing wit nice ratio of value for the money
what else? it's thin, elegant, I just like it and hope to get official 6.0, no matter what it wil stay with me for long time (hope battery will stand it)
Cheers,
I have worked at Samsung when Tab S2 was releaed and I decided to buy Tab S LTE and I like it. Almost a year with me, running on custom 6.0.1 now and I have nothing to wish about, except of probably 10.5" foldable tablet. There is no alternative of that weight and quality forva ful scale remote computing I use daily.

Foldable tablet !! Lol . Here too I want foldable tab! [emoji23]
BTW I got both Tab s and S2 and both work great except tab s2 has better battery consuming . If development is most important thing and screen quality . Look at Nvidia tablet. it is good in development side and gaming.

HI,
I am recently looking for a tablet for my nephew who likes to do alot of skype and selfie as well as watch cartoons and play games. Is this tab still worth a shot? What about the development for this device till now? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

If screen quality isn't of major importance (not that it's bad) then I'd look at the Tab A, it's just got mm and less than half the price of a Tab S.
DONATE ME HERE IF YOU WANT TO BUY ME A BEER OR HIT THE THANKS BUTTON IF I HELPED YOU
