Question Sound (Bluetooth) vs S21 Ultra - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3

1st day into my monumental S21 U vs Fold 3 struggle.
Love the F3 right now.
However the small cover screen is the big early potential deal breaker.
However also tho:
THe F3 headphone sound blows the S21 away.
Using the same app PowerAmp, same exact settings F3 crushes it! Volume and clarity. My jaw dropped.
I'd like to understand it.
Anyone have any idea what kind of tech upgrades might account for this.
I can't seem to find anything.
Developers Bluetooth settings are the same.
Thanks

Think I figured it out.

Do share with us what you've figured out.

That's odd because with Bluetooth gears the DAC and amp is not in the phone anymore but in your headphones instead, so it shouldn't change anything.

Maybe you have exynos version of S21U? That would explain the difference

What I've figured out is
I had a volume increase app on the S21U that had stopped working (as many of them seem to so) a while back.
However it DID work on the ZF3.
Didn't put 2 and 2 together at first.
Sorry

Name of the app?

Let's talk about the Note 10/Note 10+

#August 7th is the launch date if latest rumours are to be believed.
- What do you think about the rumored pinhole front facing camera? Looking at the small size of it, is it going to be inferior to the one in the S10+?
- The rumoured back cameras design looks a lot like what we have seen in several other smartphones. It does not look appealing to me and expected a better design.
- No hardware bixby button seen so far looking at trustworthy sources/renders. If it's real, it would feel like a fresh breath of air. Hope they all together killed it and not keeping a software-only bixby.
- Exynos 9820 or 9825? Hope the latter.
- 25W fast charging or something like 45W? Hope it's 45 but I'm kinda sure it'll be 25.?
#Meanwhile Vivo goes INSANE with 120W super fast charging to charge 4000 mAh in 13 minutes:
- No headphobe jack it seems, not that something I care much, but a lot will be furious for sure.
- Feels good to know about AMD & Samsung's GPU licensing deal, but it does not mean we will see Adreno GPU in Exynos SoCs so soon, and nothing tastes bitter than continuing with Mali GPUs.
- Courtesy to IceUniverse's tweet, Note 10's "chin" is very narrow and hence no speaker grooves on the forehead, meaning that the flagship Sound on Display(SoD) technology will replace the traditional speaker. This is a welcome move . SoD in LG G8 for example, produces fuller, louder and equally good sound like traditional stereo ones.
- Though improved with consecutive updates, the FP sensor on the S10/S10+ still struggles at times, hope we see a drastic change in the second gen sensor.
- UFS 3.0 for sure, fast AF, sweet to have irrespective of how much of a difference it actually makes in real world..
- I wish the pinhole was at the side. Sticking it in the middle is distracting and also wastes the space either side.
- I like the camera design on the rear, it looks more natural when you are taking landscape oriented shots.
- No Bixby? No problem. Look I have tried very hard to like Bixby, I have defended it many times but in all honesty it sucks. The button is a pain as I constantly accidentally press it when gripping the phone.
- I think the processor speed regardless of which version will be absolutely more than enough. I don't get hyped up about speed anymore, I haven't had performance issues with Samsung flagships in a very long time. The latest version is nice but I am not too fussed.
- Superfast wireless charging would be nice but it's not dealbreaking.
- I do want a headphone jack! I do not see the point in removing it just to be like all the others. If they do remove it I hope they ship with some decent wireless buds.
- A GPU upgrade is a long time coming.
- I like the idea of Sound on Display for making calls, so long as it doesn't make the external speakers sound crap or too quiet when playing music or video.
- I definitely think they will improve the fingerprint scanner. My S10+ is hit and miss and seems like it's in beta. I am sure this will be improved.
- UFS 3.0 ... I agree it might not be worth the excitement but nice to have.
I hope they stick to the more subtle curves on the edges and corners. As much as I like the look of the curves on my S10+ they aren't as comfortable/practical as the Note 9.
I hope we still have a MicroSD card slot and they add wireless power share. I also want to see more attention paid to low light photography and an increase in optical zoom.
Regardless, as a Note Nutter I will be buying a Note 10. I don't want to break the chain of Notes owned since 2011

Quite liked how you wrote.
Unfortunately, we will probably see Type C AKG earphones bundled with, and not wireless buds as per this tweet:
https://twitter.com/mweinbachXDA/status/1142429182431039488?s=19
We are already seeing massive low light improvements in the S10's after the updates :
https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-s10-camera-review-updates/
Note 10 should make it even better.
Sammy will probably not pay much attention to more optical zoom capabilities for now, but with 3 variable apertures being rumored, we might see sharper images in moderate lighting conditions due to the addition of f/1.8
https://mobile.twitter.com/UniverseIce/status/1141608857220681728?ref_src=twsrc^tfw
Maybe they will offer the earbuds on pre-orders (fingers crossed) But whilst I don't use the headphone jack very much I really hate this band wagon jumping that OEM's started to do when Apple removed it unnecessarily because (cough) they were brave.
The rumour mill does suggest that the Note 10 might have a 5x Optical Zoom, though it might be more destined to coincide with the next year's A-Series launches, considered Samsung's test-bed models of late. I also read that their newly developed 64 megapixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor is not going to make it to the Note 10.
Which leads me on to this:
What's sad is that the Galaxy Note series was always considered Samsung's top jewel in the crown. If a new innovation was being pushed out you would find it on the latest Note. Now it seems that all the excitement is taken away once the S - Series phones are released (and in some cases the Galaxy A-Series) so owning a Note doesn't give you the bragging rights you once enjoyed. A good example is that I used to love the larger screen size offered by a Galaxy Note but now my S10+ is the same size as the Note 9. Camera innovations are often re-ported from the S to the Note, along with new bio-metrics and screen technology. So aside from the S-Pen, what do we really get for all that extra cash?
I upgrade each year all the same, because I have always considered the best Android phone each and every year is the Samsung Galaxy Note. But seriously, if the boundaries between the Galaxy S and the Note becoming more and more blurred my passion for this device will probable dwindle.

a new article appeared on gsmarena where it leaks new note 10 cases and it's clearly showing that it will not have a headphone jack. personally I don't see a reason to buy it, even though I have wireless headphones I also use the wired ones at work and for the moment I can't part myself from a very useful feature.
To be honest, the Note 10 seems too similar to the S10 5G. I do prefer the centered front camera and the S-Pen is nice, but is it worth losing a headphone jack and likely having a smaller battery? Also, we see a rumored A90 without a notch or punch, but with high end specs.
Samsung has created too many models. They likely could have saved money and cut costs by combining the 5G and Note models. They could differentiate them more by using different aspect ratios. Not everyone likes the 19:9 or 19.5:9 aspect ratios. Phones are getting tall and unwieldy and a bezel-less 18:9 or 18.5:9 phone would be welcome.

Yup. It doesn't look aggressive in the pics...
And I'm not liking the punch - "pin"hole front cam. The "capsule" in the s10+ distracts, this one will too, but it's too late for me to whine.
Eagerly waiting on the official details but so far dont like the pin hole camera hole, the camera hole on the s10+ looks much better and like u can add the battery icon colors.
If they remove the Bixby button that would suck because now since u can remap I use that all day every day for my Nest cameras on demand. I mean u could use google to open apps quickly button if its constantly listening to wake up i found that drains ur battery. It's great though if u have smart displays at home and all.
Yeah, looks like I will sit this one out. The note 9 is going to be the new note4 . The notch is a deal breaker and so is the lack of headphone jack. The back camera placement is fine tho. I too ,miss the days of the Note being the flagship, and all about business, but nows it's just the Galaxy S with a pen. Some people may think it's being silly, but I refuse to pay north of 1000 bucks for something that isn't exactly what I want. I also thought there would be more Note fans who share the same view, but it looks like I am in a small minority of folks who hate the notch and love the headphone jack. I now know how the fans of the ir blaster felt.

While it sad to see the headphone jack go, I don't find the audio all that good out of the Note 9 headphone jack. It's OK but nothing special.
I use a Bluetooth adapter which gives far better sound.
So I'm not too bothered about the Headphone jack going.

You know what's funny about your post? I legit just told my wife about 2 days ago I would have happily stayed with my note 4. I had so many accessories, giant batteries like zero lemon. It was truly decked out. My last got ridiculously smashed though
This stupid ''Infinity O'' thing in the middle of the Display on Top is the only reason to wait better on Note 11 or 12. Im no Fan with this Notch/InfinityO things overall. Anyway my Note 9 is atm a beast & i guss it will be a beast for the next 2-3 years. Hopefully Sammy managed this Displayhole till this day when i feel a need to upgrade.
Same here I'm staying with the note 9 for a few years

From one reluctant Note fan to more confident ones

I'm sitting on a fence I've been scooting on for the past 2 phone upgrades. I currently have a Note 9 and in my head, the natural choice would be a Note 10+. That had been my thinking until Sprint released the OP7 Pro 5G. I know all the specs and all the differences between both on paper. I guess maybe I'm trying to get someone to convince me one way or another. I don't think I've seen a screen better than the ones on Samsung flagships and I'm afraid I'd be trading down if I went OP7. I know about the 90hz screen but since I've never seen it on a phone, I could live without it since I wouldn't know what I'm missing out on. At the same time, my s-pen use has dropped dramatically since I first used on on the Note 4 and honestly, I never use it unless I'm cropping a screenshot, which is rare. Someone just slap the ish out of me and tell me what to choose -_-
Edit: Forgot to mention, I live in Dallas. So I'd have access to Sprints 5G, as rudimentary as it is now. Hence the fence sitting

Depends on how much you take selfies as well. The S-pen is good for snapping pictures like a remote that I enjoy. Also Dex to put the phone folders on the desktop is something that's cool. You're right though. Nothing beats the Samsung AMOLED screen. The screen is a little larger it looks like with the 6.8" than the One Plus at 6.67". Looks like the One Plus doesn't have wireless charging if you used that. Only other main differences is the battery on the Note 10+ is larger at 4300mAh vs the One Plus at 4000mAh. 91% screen to body ratio on the Note 10+ vs the 88.5% on the One Plus. I wouldn't worry too much regardless on which phone you get with 5G since 5G is very limited and very finicky right now. Sure, it might be better next year but they said it's a lot harder to maintain a 5G signal since it uses millimeter waves and much harder to penetrate through walls. I don't see 5G really getting steam until probably the end of next year going into 2021.
Water resistance. I own a pool that I use all the time and snap pictures of the family. The One+ it is t an option. Is this a few $100 to me... Yes.

10+ 512GB 5G. When using 5G, it's like you are in a different planet. Truest me. And, as everyone else dumps their cell phone because it doesn't support 5G, you'll already be where you want to be.

Note10+. I had the same battle basically, in my mind. Screen, DeX, s-pen, IP68, wireless charging, WAY better camera (that's what made up my mind), most premium feeling and looking phone around... Samsung just has an amazing thing going right now. This phone is the most incredible piece of technology I've ever owned. I'm coming from a Note9, which I previously thought was basically unbeatable (only upgraded due to the amazing deals). SO glad I chose this phone.

I appreciate all these answers. Its definitely reinforcing a lot of the feelings I have for the Note series. I really do feel like if I choose the 10+, I'd be just as happy as this. But I've always had an itch to try something new once the shine of a new note wears off. Part of me feels that may be due to the almost insignificant jump from the note 8 to 9 and I have a feeling going from 9 to 10+ would be a lot more impressive. I still have time to decide, but I really wanted to put feelers out whole I could. Thanks so much, dudes

Thing is, you'll get the opposite answer from OnePlus 7 forums. They'll tell you to get the OP7 Pro because of the 90Hz screen, no hole punch camera, faster updates, faster overall UI (I sincerely doubt that any UI could be faster than this Note10+ on performance mode, Nova launcher, and 0.5 scale animations though... This is INSANE), and Oxygen OS instead of Samsung's bloated UI. That's what they'll say, whether true or not. So I hope you put out feelers on both sides or the battle wasn't fair! Either way, this phone is better for ME. Not sure what's better for you.

That's exactly what I did, lol. Made basically the same thread on the OP7 forum to gauge both sides. I think I'll come down to me trying both out in store and getting a feel for both.
I might be able to offer another opinion for you, but with the same results.
I was a pretty loyal iPhone fan for the longest time since the 3GS. I had a couple of forays into the Android world, with the OnePlus One and LG V20, because like you, I wondered what it was like on the other side. I really liked the OnePlus One, but a bad customer service experience turned me off to them until the 6T came out and I decided to try them again. I had the phone for less than 48 hrs before I brought the phone back for another iPhone.
Fast forward to August 2019 and I fell in love with the Note 10+ instantly. I had always wanted one but the Note 7(?) fiasco turned me away. I went in to Best Buy one day and got some hands on time with it, and I was hooked. It's the first time I've ever pre-ordered a phone, it was very exciting. Now that I've been using the phone for awhile, I can honestly say it's been a great experience. Camera, screen and the Samsung ecosystem are all top notch. And, no buyers' regret!
Anything but the Note 10 or 10+ It's not all rosy as it seems, the camera quality is sub par and you'll be constantly disappointed when you open the camera to take a pic. Call quality is not great because of the weird placement of the speakers. 60Hz display seems retarded compared to 90Hz, huge difference. Now I don't know One plus 7 camera quality but Pixel 4XL will definitely have much better camera. So coming from another Note 10+ owner don't buy this iteration, it's basically crap. I owned a note 8 and 5 prior to this. My next phone will definitely be a Pixel or One Plus.

The camera is not sub par. It may not be the best, but it is definitely in the top 3 or 4. Also I have never, ever had a problem with call quality although I think that front facing speakers do sound better, but call quality and sound as it pertains to music or video are two different things. Fact is, it is only loudmess is only slightly less strong compared to the S10 (+), which has front facing speakers. This iteration isn't crap, but is different. If you are yearning for the productivity of yesteryear, wait for next years Note (or maybe the year after that). The S line and the Note line will probably be merged and the Fold will more than likely inherit the S-pen and become the new productivity device. Remember, even though the Pixel and OnePlus are great phones, the screens and the technology everyone is raving about, comes from Samsung. They also made the screens for the 3 and 3a. As for the 60Hz v. 90Hz debate, yes it is a noticable difference, but does that mean the Note experience sucks. No it doesn't suck and the fast charging is comparable to the OP7 Pro and it also offers fast wireless charging, as well as reverse wireles charging. While not necessary, wireless charging is extremely convenient. You can find wireless chargers in coffee shops resteraunts, airports and even in a lot of newer cars. Its great to be able to just throw your phone on the dash while driving across town and still have all of its fuctionality while its charging. In my opinion the Note 10+ is a great phone; overpriced, but a great phone none the less. BTW, I do own both Pixel and One Plus devices, as well as Xiaomi, Vivo and Huawei. So I do have several phones that I can compare against.

Question S21 Ultra to ZF3 : Would love to hear your thoughts!

Of course the big main screen is the #1 positive.
If anything is going to break this deal its
#1 the small cover screen first and foremost.
#2 it's the cameras but I've been surprisingly OK with the ZF3 shots lately.
How Bout you?
i shifted to all apple last year and im so in love with my iphone 12 pro max, i love the eco system
but i still want to buy Samsung as i love the extra customization and its like tab and phone
my main concerns
are there any cases from rhinoshield or any well known brands? my phone falls to much from my hands
my last s20 ultra have so much focus issues that never wanted to go back to samsung, maybe i got a defective unit 12 pro max cam is awesome
the inside screen quality, i watched a durability test and the nails still damage the inner screen
I went the opposite way. I just returned my z-fold 3 because of the battery life and the cameras. The s-pen flip case was absolutely horrid. I just feel for a $1,900 phone, it was underwhelming. I'm hoping on the z-fold 4, they put the s-pen solo in the phone. It just wasn't the note replacement I hoped it would be. I ordered an s21 ultra 512 GB but I won't be here till the end of the month so I'm looking forward to that now.
I don't understand the issue with cameras. Other than the less zoom on the f3, it takes pics just as good as the s21ultra. Yes I have both. Sure, batt life is not as good, but WTF did anyone expect with 2 screens. But it does last a full day. So stop the Bllsht.
I went from S21 Ultra to Fold 3, I certainly won't be going back to to a candy bar phone again. The cameras do a good enough job for me, the S21 camera array would have been nice, but I do wonder how much it would bump the price up.
I don't mind the outside screen either, certainly easier to type 1 handed, where the S21 U was quite wide to use like that.
I found this video the other day, regarding the cameras

Maybe in your opinion but I have my own. The cameras are basically up to par with my Note 20 5G. Maybe you are willing to sacrifice to have a folding screen but I am not. Cellular reception also was worse and I have a feeling that is what was killing the battery. By all means enjoy your F3 and I'll enjoy my S21. Like I said, I am looking forward to the Fold 4.
I love my fold3. The battery life isn't great, but try turning off your 5G. That should help out quite a bit. Plus you won't be able to tell the difference with the speeds unless you're using ultra wideband.

I've gotten settled into the Fold 3 after a few days - I had to swap out my email app of choice (Nine) for Outlook to help with the battery (Nine has always been a bit of a hog, but it tips the scales to "not a full day" whereas Outlook plays nicer). I'm now getting a full business day (12hrs) but not much more.
I've got a little stand and BT keyboard taking its place as an iPad Mini Pro as welll...
I will miss the S21U cameras (I still have it...not giving it up so quickly!) so it's def form vs. function.
My biggest gripe with the Fold isn't the phone itself. To have a good solid case on it that lays flat means having big edges around the front screen. It's a bit awkward, but I'm sure I'll cope with time.
As for battery life, I do a lot of reading. I used to use a tablet + S21. With their mixed usage, either device would last a couple days without any real issue. Now, I have to top off during the day. I knew at some level this would be the case, but didn't QUITE expect it to be as heavy as it is. I have a charger at my work desk, home desk, and nightstand so it isn't a problem in my day to day life. Reading is also something I can avoid doing, and usually would anyway, if I'm going to be out and about all day.

Yep. You were in essence carrying two batteries, one in the S21 and one in the Tablet. You can't get away with just having 1 battery and expecting it to last as long as 2. The answer is to have an external battery along for the ride (which I always have in my bag anyway!)

Well, didn't usually carry the tablet with me as much as use it around the house. That said, yes. Not only is the tablet a second battery, it's a larger second battery. I expected higher usage, I just didn't expect as much as I should have. I do have the ability to bring a battery if needed, I just don't need to in most cases.
Totally get it. It's just helpful to think about the loss of the large 2nd battery

I took the ZF3 and S21U out together today and did camera tests on my own and was amazed how well the ZF3 matched the S21U. (cept for zoom and macro)
Honestly if you have a SGS21 Ultra. There is no point in upgrading to the Z Fold 3 as the performance is the exact same as they are running on the same hardware.

S21u outside of USA and SK has the "inferior" Exynos chip which has different performance and heat management (and also different ISP for processing images taken with cameras)
It's a difficult question ... Upgrade from S21u to F3?
Personally I'd say if you want to try foldable phones the F3 is the one to go for
If camera is most important to you stick with the S21U
bs3pro said:
I don't understand the issue with cameras. Other than the less zoom on the f3, it takes pics just as good as the s21ultra. Yes I have both. Sure, batt life is not as good, but WTF did anyone expect with 2 screens. But it does last a full day. So stop the Bllsht.

My 'problem' with the F3 cameras is that for £1599 ($1799) the absolure flagship product from Samsung I expect the S21 Ultra camera module to be included. However, Samsung reduced F3 price by £200 over last years F2 so we cant have everything (but we still want it!)
The Fold3 camera sensors are the same as those in the Fold2, which were same as Fold1, which were same as the S10+ cameras.
If we wanted 3 year old camera sensors in our smartphones we would buy an Apple iPhone. lol

So, did you end up buying an IPhone?
If not, and you bought the F3, you'll know that the pictures it takes are very good, to the extent that some YouTube comparisons show that it holds up to, and sometimes beats the IPhone in terms of picture quality.
If you didn't buy the F3, you're just trolling, for how would you know how good or bad the camera is in reality. LOL

As a phone enthusiast (read addict), I have owned in the last 12 months.... Note 20 Ultra, iPhone 12 Pro Max, Xiaomi Mi 11 5g, S21 ultra and now the Z Fold3.
The Fold 3 is 1000s times more advanced and exciting to use than any of the other devices mentioned above... however the Z range cameras are stuck at 12mp from 2019 S10 era.
I agree pictures taken with a Z Fold3 are good or even excellent in most cases....
however, if you claim 2.0 optical zoom in F3 is technically as good as 10x optical zoom in S21U , or thar 108MP with Laser autofocus on S21u is not "better" than basic 12mp main lens on the Z Fold, you are mistaken my friend
(and lets not even begin to discuss the 4 FOUR! megapixel under-screen-camera lol )
To clarify .... I ABSOLUTELTY LOVE my Z Fold3!
I just think Samsung has missed the opportunity to release the ULTIMATE "UNBEATABLE" smartphone by not including 2021 spec camera module from the S21 Ultra. (The Note range always matched or exceeded the cameras in the S range from 6 months previous so why not do the same with the Z range?).

Question Is anyone returning the Z Fold 3?

I purchased from Samsung, big discount, extras, etc. Chose the 21 day trial option. I'm almost certain I will return the fold and keep my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The fold is a very nice phone but some things I just can't get past. Weight, small front screen, much more difficult to do the everyday things I need my phone for in comparison to my Note 20. The Note 20 is a gorgeous phone and everything just works. Light, easy to handle, S pen with Bluetooth so I can operate the camera wirelessly. Speaking of the camera... Wonderful zoom capabilities that the fold does not have. Really dumb to pay so much for a lesser camera, no onboard S pen and no wireless connection for the pen. A huge plus for the fold is book reading. It works great as a tablet but for the everyday stuff it will need to be much thinner and lighter for me. Just my humble opinion.
Watch the S Pen experience section - that bigger screen always trumps the Note for me!

The Fold is not a replacement for the Note, it simply can't be. Maybe someday, when it's half as thick, when it has a built-in stylus and a slightly larger display to use on the fly as well as a better camera.
I love big pads, at the time I even bought the QTEK 9000 (someone will remember it for sure). But I can't bring myself to replace my Note 20 Ultra 5G with the Galaxy Fold 3, it's stronger than me.
One question: is it true that the Fold 3's hands-free calls are in mono and not stereo? A curiosity of mine that no review(in my mother tongue) says.
Yes, I did returned Z Fold 3. I didn't see much improvements over my Z Fold 2. I will wait for next Fold generation or new Note - if they still make it in the future..
Hey,
I hope you doing well. If you are not interested in returning your product know About Samsung Return Policy first.
It provides only 30 days to return from the date of purchase. The product must be returned before 30 days as per the original tag mentioned on merchandise. To learn in detail about you can visit the site I have mentioned above.
Thank You!
I did only to buy another BNIB off Swappa for $400 less!
No regrets here. Having a phone that doubles as a tablet is priceless.
I went from a N20U to this Fold 3, and in all honesty, I can't think of ANY reason for me to return this.
Is the Fold 3 Perfect? No, is it overwhelmingly better than the N20U or S21? No, but for what I, personally, use it for and the reasons I had to switch, yes, it is better for ME than the N20U.
All in all, I LOVE this phone and cannot think of any reason for me to switch back from a foldable phone anytime soon. It's the screen real estate and the usage of the inner screen that clinches it for me.
While it was being weird at first i LOVE the frontscreen the most actually. when i have to use a normal smartphone they feel alot bigger and unpractical to hold.
most people use their Smartphone with 2 hands. Samsung went the right way here. using front screen 1handed and bigger screen 2handed.
Nope, best smartphone I've ever owned.

Note 20 ultra 5G sounds hands-free calls from both speakers, so it is "stereo" obviously not hifi.
It is much better of only 1 speaker
Apologize my bad English
Playing from both speakers on a call is dual speaker mono.
Stereo implies a left and right (or more specifically channel 1 and channel 2) routed to corresponding speakers.
For a call to be actual stereo both mics would be used discreetly and the stereo signal encoded as stereo and sent to the recipient's speakers in the same fashion. Not exactly practical. ;-)

I just checked. The sound comes out of both speakers.
What's strange is that the 'bottom' speaker (if you were holding the phone as a phone) is much louder than the 'top' speaker. I suspect that this has something to do with which microphone is used, so that the speaker doesn't interfere with it. With 4 microphones it's difficult to tell.

Not only that. The top speaker isn't when located straight under tiny grill. It is located further down behind screen and uses a tunnel leading up to grill and out. So that might be a reason as well that sound is lower in that speaker than what it is on bottom speaker that sits right at grill opening with no space sort off between.
My Fold 3 is better for me than my last three Notes were. Utilizing the larger screen (And larger s pen) for my daily planner and calendar and all the handwriting I like to add is just light years better. The only single thing AT ALL that I miss from the note is the availability to add a quick note on a turned off phone w/ a black screen in one quick fail swoop without having to go through messing with the phone too much. Maybe somebody knows of a Bixby routine that might do something similar? Either way, the pluses over the Note series far out weigh the (single) negative. For me, of course.

Normal stereo doesn't suffer from this problem, though. If fact it's pretty amazing if you listen to a music that 'swirls' about from speaker to speaker, like some Beatles tracks.
I suspect the reason for the tunnel is the normal phone speaker and slefie camera in the way.

The only way Id get access on a black screen is if the phone was already open, since the front screen doesn't accept spen input. My Fold is set to turn on when I open it anyway.

The Fold 3 is a specific device made for a specific kind of phone user. If the camera is a top priority, the Ultra phones from Samsung are for you. If you want a phone that is also a tablet, and you don't want to carry multiple devices and chargers, the Fold 3 is for you.

people dont buy the fold 3 for its cameras
I came from an S21U and actually feel that the Fold 3 is a better phone so much so that I decided to trade in the S21U. Granted the S21U has a crazy amount of zoom and takes great pictures, the Fold 3 is no slouch either. I'm a photography enthusiast and know that I need to temper my expectations with the Fold 3. Having said that, it's not really bad at taking pics unless you start looking at pics with a magnifying glass looking for noise abberations, etc. which I don't. I love the fact that I can browse websites on a bigger screen.

Question Is Speaker distortion normal?

I normally listen to buds, so I didn't notice on Day 1, but it's Day 6.
I noticed the bottom speaker tends to distort/rattle on low end even when not on Max volume. Is this normal for some of y'all?
This is what I use to test low-end
(1st track)
And my ROG 6 fails playing these tracks clearly in Poweramp.
Granted I am using a Treble-Bass preset on the EQ, but I always time the bass and low-end a few steps down because #1 I don't want bass must, and I want more clarity. I use the same disks for every device I use, phone/tablet speakers, earbuds, speakers... And everything performs great. But the ROG 6 just can't? I did do minor testing on Day 1 and didn't hear anything, but now I do hear noticable vibration.
Should I take it back? Is it normal and I'm being overly analytical?
I got my phone from Mobile Advance. They said if they couldn't replicate my issue, they charge a 20% restocking fee. Problem is 20% of $1200 is $240.
So please tell me y'all are hearing distortion/rattling too and it's not just me.
You can hear the distortion best at 13 seconds into investigation and the next 5 or 6 seconds after that.
And on Minstrel the audio is clearly clipping and distorting.
Volume is 80%
EQ looks like:
https://imgur.com/a/N6Qu3CI
This is a bass and treble boost, but it's so mild that it shouldn't be straining the speakers
System EQ is flat.
I also dealing with this:

Sad to say but yes.
As for your screen its ASUS rather poor implmentation of "green tint fix". You probably notice the lowest brightness level of the ASUS is much higher than some of your other phones, its their way of working around the green tint of these samsung panels.
The downgrade in hardware for the speakers + AMP is the reason why the quality isnt as good. The days of 1 amp per speakers are long gone.
On ASUS forums people are complaining about speakers a lot.
If you want more examples of how your speakers will go down the drain:
at 0:46
0:38
Honestly sounds like the speakers are about to blow up, even at lower volume levels. ASUS doesn't really give a damn tho, they claimed they "couldnt reproduce it" despite literally everyone else is able to easily reproduce it, honestly sounds like ASUS can't fix it and pretend its not a thing.
It's a repeat of the Rog3 where ASUS refused to fix the display where I had to come along and fix it via my kernel. Unless you find some devs that own the device and are bothered enough to fix it, you're out of luck.

Screen bleed was.
They could just argue the speakers are supposed to sound like how they do.
Screen bleed is undeniable.
And it really doesn't matter what excuse you/I/anyone should have to try for another replacement, if you have a 30 day return option to ameliorate a $1200 device investment, you should probably use it.
Hello has this distortion been fixed? Is the distortion only with the Chinese variants that have been flashed with global rom? Is the distortion affecting all batches or are there some batches that don’t have the distortion? I’m thinking of buying the global version, any help and info would be appreciated

Make sure it's an authorized seller for the best buyer protection, best refund policy, and probably lower price. If you buy from a more riskier account.
I say that because you can buy from an independent seller and still likely get an ROG 6, but if you nit pick some things about the screen and speakers like I did, you most likely won't have much options to deal with it.
I got my phone 10 days before it's release, new in box sealed, unused phone... And 5 days later my problems started showing up.
Had I got my phone not from an authorized seller, of likely have a harder time convincing them for a replacement

Speaker distortion is on the low end. So on base heavy audio, you'll hear rattling.
High end may sound a little tinny.
You can make the argument that these "Problems" were intentional and thats how they're supposed to sound.
However the faint glow of light bleed on the screen is a legit problem. It's an only noticable in low light but once you notice it, it's impossible to not notice.
AMOLED is supposed to have every pixel be it's own lightsource. So if the value is #000000, then the black should be so black that you can't even tell the display or that pixel is even supposed to be on. Well on my phone, it doesn't/didn't.
Not my only AMOLED devices don't have this is problem.
But the real big issue of having this faulty screen issue within 7 days of ownership is that the only other person here is telling me "Oh that's normal"

I just ordered my rog 6 from a uk seller brand new sealed so I’ll post on here about the sceeen and speakers if any issues that you’ve mentioned
They're nitpicking reasons that I felt I had to address because I was still within 30 days of a return/replace.
They're livable problems you could learn to tolerate.
But when ROG 6's own site and resellers are drawing extra attention to it's screen and speakers as marketing material to describe how they're the best, then you should expect them to be the best.

Sadly the screen is just some leftover garbage. E4 has been replaced by E5 last year. The speakers used to have dedicated amp per speaker (rog3) they also removed that. Its a massive downgrade. The E4 panel is nothing special either, ull find it on budget phones.
Just got my "replacement" with some good and bad news.
Good news. I got much better sounding speakers. The same problem I heard as little as 60% volume doesn't manifest itself until 100%
Bad news... Kind of... The light bleeding, fringing, glowing, whatever you wanna call it, is technically worse on the new model. It's no longer exclusive to the one corner of the phone, it fills up most the screen from top to bottom.
While this may sound worse than before, and technically is... But because the issue is more evenly distributed across the screen, it makes for a far, far less distracting issue. While it isn't 100% true black,
No longer is my eye drawn to the the one corner on dark screens. Now the entirety of the screen seems like it matches.
I suppose these phones arent going to come completely "perfect"
But as long as I can ignore or can't notice the issues, I'm more content. Out of sight, out of mind.
