It should work once you SIM-unlock the phone and use an EU SIM (might also have to add/change the APN details)

If you can S-OFF the phone (should be able to use Sunshine) you could flash the EU ROM which will help but you'd still only get 3G/H at most as I believe the US phone use different bands for 4G/LTE

I'll be in Europe for a month. I was looking for an easy way to just swap SIM Cards when getting there / coming back. Speed isn't a necessity.
i used my att locked m8 on turkey for a week with Unlocked Bootloader, S-Off, sim unlocked.. just plugged the sim card after sim unlock the phone and used it without any issues
Which tutorial did you use? There's so many here, lol.
My bootloader is unlocked from HTC.

How many H815 versions there are and how to identify them?

I though that H815 was the european open version (able to unlock bootloader and such) and that the other versions had other names, but I've seen people about talking about H815 versions with the same name and with or without LTE-A, or even specific H815 versions for Asia, France or even non-carrier USA, and on all of them the bootloader is locked as ****.
Is this true? in this case, if you were buying this phone online, how to determine you're buying the european open version? what's the model name exactly for that?
Thanks!
I got mine from handtec.com. I made sure before purchasing that it was the H815 EU. That is what you are looking for. And as a note, I unlocked my boot loader 3 days ago so I know what they sell is the true EU version.

I got my H815EU from handtec as well. Unlocked the bootloader the same day.
Only way I know of is to check settings under software version. For example mine shows V10C-TWN-XX.

How To Get Service Mode Working On The Unbranded unlocked U1 Firmware

Is this possible? As soon as you put the Verizon SIM into the phone, it won't work anymore.

First, delete the post where you posted the whole number. You should not put the whole number out there.
It's starts with a 35, so it is not one that was bought directly from Google. Those are the ones that are for sure unlockable.
If that phone came from EE, contact them. If it is not stolen and the contract is done they will unlock it. If it came from Verizon you won't be able to unlock it.

I'm doomed now then... I can't live without root.. at Verizon check website fhey say "The phone associated with the Device ID you entered is not compatible with the Verizon Wireless network."

Does flashing OEM rom remove sim locking?

I was looking at a sprint phone that i want to use with at&t and wanted to know if that would work
No. Locked is locked. Changing firmware does not do a carrier unlock.

Nope, the only way ive found is via paid services. I unlocked 3 of them for $10 each. Cannot discuss further on XDA tho
