General Leaked internal factory videos show Pixel 6 Pro teardown & assembly process - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Some infos about it:
Definitely no Soli, no special under display hardware, no dedicated hardware for faceunlock (as some assumed after the most recent leak with dual biometric Faceunlock+Fingerprint security screenshot), no active edge.
The phone does have a 5000 mhA battery.

I had sent myself a reminder to download these videos before they disappeared - since I saw the original YouTube links about these right before I went to sleep, but by morning the videos were deleted, of course. Anyone have copies they can share?

Is it possible to recover data from a truly bricked phone?

I used these searches before compiling this thread;
"how to recover data from a bricked SGN"
"data extraction from a SGN that will not boot"
"removing the HD from samsung galaxy nexus"
These searches did not yield results that replicate my situation. The only search that resulted in many entries were for people with "bricked phones" that (at least somewhat) responded to input. I associate the term "bricked" with a phone that does not respond to input, or show any indication of getting power.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Nexus on verizon wireless. It has been rooted and is running a custom ROM by...AOKP i think. I had some assistance each time I rooted and updated my ROM.
Here is my problem, what caused it,my troubleshooting steps, and what I'm trying to do. My phone was partially submerged in water for an unknown amount of time. The battery and SIM were removed and kept in a water proof container within an hour of submersion. The water damage indicator stickers (on both the battery and the phone have not been triggered). About 24hrs later, the phone was placed in a zip lock bag with 4 desiccant silica gel packs where it will remain for the next 24. Per vzw's tech support, I tried to power the phone on using the charger and the battery removed. No change. Verizon was not advised of the partial submersion, only the non triggered water damage stickers. This phone is under warranty and a replacement has been shipped. I confirmed that my contacts are backed up to google.
The reason for this post is, I have close to 30GB of pictures and videos that I stored on this device's "internal SD" that I want to recover. Looking through the searches I mentioned above, it sounds like this isn't so much a separate card, but more of a partition on the phone's HD. I have been told by vzw that neither their branch office tech support, nor their recovery/diagnostic team that analyzes returned phones has the capability to remove and return this data.
If someone here has hardware experience with cracking open a SGN and swapping the "internal SD card" I would greatly appreciate any information available for this task.

Well..OK. I'm not ready to give up just yet. When my desktop PC's power supply failed, the PC was unusable, and didn't indicate power. I swapped that out and it now it works fine. This seems like it could be a similar situation. I at least want to exhaust every option I have before throwing in the towel.
Those 30GB contain hundreds of pictures of the first 2 years of my kid's life.
It seems to me that data recovery should still be possible if an replacement power source is utilized. Maybe more than just the power source has failed. Maybe every other hardware component in my wet phone has failed. But maybe, that "internal SD" is recoverable.
If anyone here knows what the "internal SD" looks like, and has successfully swapped one, I'll risk it. I know I can't trust vzw with such a task.
I realize this is a developers forum, and I'm asking for hardware failure advice. If anyone can refer me to a different forum that is more specialized to my specific task, I'll gladly take my trouble there.

you're assuming 1 thing. the nand that houses the storage is in good health. When water is introduced, you have the unknown factors of what it does to circuitry.
im sure there is a ifixit teardown showing where the nand is. The problem is its soldered to the mainboard of the phone. You might be able to unsolder it, but thats a stretch.

Thank you very much Zepius. I googled "ifixit teardown samsung galaxy nexus" which lead me to a page (that I'm not able to paste here as a new user).
which is exactly what I was looking for. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'm assuming the nand is in good health, just wishful thinking.
Anncoco - sorry, I don't remember what I did with this. It's been about 4 years, and this was 3 phones ago. I think I had some of the photos backed up somewhere else, enough that I never went to the trouble to disassemble the Nexus. From my notes - I remember the phone did not indicate it was getting power when plugged in.

Mysterious i9190

Hello everyone! This is my first thread and I know it's the right site to ask this. (sorry for my english)
I bought this "suspicious" i9190 in Budapest 2 years ago. Since then it has been impossible to use it regulary.
Constant rebooting and freezes are part of its daily routine. As well as stopped apps and processes messages in a ridiculous way.
I have tried millions of ROMs, officials and customs, all kind of wipes and restores. I have even tried the eMMC brickbug apps looking for damaged chips or internal memory: Nothing, the phone is perfectly fine.
But here are some facts that may be relevant to find the problem:
- The phone came with the IMEI number scrached in the back of the battery.
- I've been using the phone for hours and hours perfectly fine as long as no update is performed and the Sync option is off.
- Doing the above I have even downloaded and used some little apps with no problems.
- When the major apps are installed, like Facebook and Instagram the phone begins to die, popping more and more "stoppped working" errors.
- The processes that fail the most are the google type but, in general, every single existing process has failed in this 2 years.
- I have noticed that when you start the phone for the first time after a wipe or a new ROM, it is better to create a new google account than using an existing one because the existing one, I think, will start updating everything while the new one will not. Anyway, using a new google account collapses the phone sooner or later.
Sorry for the long post, fellas. But I wanted to give you all the possible info I have about this phone.

I'd guess at a hardware issue in the radio and related circuitry as you seem to get the issues when apps that send/receive data frequently are in use. Though it could be anything. You probably need to get it checked by an authorised Samsung repair centre ......... if your phone is not too "suspicious!"

Thanks for your reply! Do you have an idea why they scratched the IMEI number? Maybe that could take me to where the exact problem is. Here is a photo of the back

I was going to say they scratched the IMEI number probably because it was stolen so that it could not be tracked, but it is quite easy to see the number so that is probably not the reason. One place I used to work at the test department used to scratch the bar codes on faulty PCB's so that they cannot be scanned back into the system by mistake (if the fault tag comes off, etc) as that computer system did not prevent scrapped boards from being re-entered. So I would guess this may be the case with your phone, but of course we can't know for certain! But based on this and all tests of different ROMs etc you did I suspect it is quite likely the explanation.
What I would do is look for the same model that has a cracked screen on ebay etc so it's cheap to buy then swap the PCB's from the cracked phone to your good screen (swap everything to prevent the possibility of the boards not working due to different revision numbers, as has been reported when replacing the power boards on our phone). You can also buy a repair kit for a few dollars on ebay with screwdrivers, pry tool etc

If the PCB on your phone was scratched to show it was faulty then taking to a repair shop is probably a waste of money, unless then run an assessment for free before they repair it.

not sure if this helps but that I actually managed read off the IMEI code correctly and it turns out its a turkish registered phone, I can PM you IMEI code if you want, also its not reported stolen (but i am guessing its most likely is), anyways thats all I was here to say, good luck.

Why I'm returning my phone

So I've used the US zenfone 6 for about a week and this is indeed a great solid phone. Below are my thoughts on the phone (my previous phone being a Pixel 2 XL):
What I liked:
1) Software: Asus did a very good job with the software; it feels like stock but they added a lot of very useful customizations and default apps that I would normally have to root/xposed to get. Asus really put a lot of thought into the small things.
2) sd card: It's really nice to have an expandable sdcard. I got the 64GB version because the sd card can compensate for the smaller internal capacity.
3) fast charging: I didn't time it but it charges very fast.
4) widescreen: It didn't really matter to me too much that the camera rotates, but the widescreen was very nice because I could get so much more in the shot. However one bad thing about it was that if I found a good shot/frame with the widescreen and then switched back to non-widescreen, the camera unit would reset back to its default 'resting' position and then I'd have to rotate the camera again to find my original 'good' shot.
5) the extra memory: I noticed that when I went back to any game in the background, it would load right where I left off instead of 'reloading' all the data again.
What I didn't like:
1) Weight: it's 205grams out of the box (without sdcard, sim card, or plastic case) ... even though their website advertises 181/190grams. It feels heavier and tires out my hand faster when I am holding it for long periods of time like playing games. I noticed it right off the bat (my Pixel 2 XL being 175grams). After a week though, I got used to the increased weight, but it still gets tiring.
2) vibration: The vibration is non-existent. You can hear it if the phone vibrates on the table, but when I tested it by calling myself while in my jeans expecting to feel something, I literally could not feel a thing... not even a tickle. What's the point in having a phone if I never know if someone calls or msgs me.
3) Bootloader: Unlocking the bootloader supposedly voids the warranty (even though US law prohibits that) and there currently is no way to re-lock the bootloader so I never got around to tinkering with custom roms, rooting, and flashing kernels. I could probably fight the voiding of my warranty, but nobody's got time for that. I missed my rooted modules and xposed apps. (Compare this to Google who will still honor my warranty as long as I relock the bootloader and put it back the way it was.)
4) touchscreen: While holding the phone, the screen would sometimes register a touch at the bottom right edge even when I didn't intend to. I thought it was my fault and that I was accidentally touching the screen somehow, but I eventually figured out that I wasn't doing anything wrong.
5) The size: I already knew the phone was slightly bigger when I purchased it, but I didn't expect it to be as uncomfortable to hold as it was. Not sure why but I think the extra thickness and the increased weight made it more tiring to hold.
What I'm conflicted about:
1) The battery life: The battery is almost 1500 mAh larger than my pixel which is very nice to have, but it also drained pretty fast. I realize that playing games on the phone does drain the phone quickly, but the extra battery, unscientifically speaking, didn't seem to help much. I'm also usually near an outlet so I could always charge. And when I am not, I could always bring a portable battery.
2) The cpu: I was expecting the phone to be noticeably/significantly faster than my pixel, but I didn't notice a difference. It's possible that the un-overclocked custom kernel that I installed improved the speed on my pixel, but there was no noticeable speed difference to warrant getting a new phone.

I am currently listing mine for sale right now. But my problems stem more from the software side of things. Like not supporting Dual Apps for all applications, Call recording not working in the US, Private SMS, etc.
The bootloader being unlocked prevents me returning the phone back to them. But if by Friday I get no offers I will contact Mobile Advance directly and see what they will charge me to return the phone with the bootloader unlocked.
There should be a way to relock the bootloader as I only used the phone for 2 hours before realizing all the things it lacked. I had to root to make sure all my modules worked.
I really wanted to keep it too. Anyway, Cheers. Sorry you are disappointed too.

For me the speakers are great. The hardware of the phone is top notch. As stated, my issue is on the software of side. Some might say superficial. For what I paid for the phone, it is honestly not bad at all.
As for the battery life, it is subjective because of the variations in use cases. I think it is good, not great compared to other phones I have used in the past that have had 5000mAh battery and above. But then again, they all didn't have the top of the line processor. Usually just mid range.

How do you have it working? Is it with a third party app rooted? Or with the built-in phone app?
With the built -in phone app, it says recording but after the call, the call recording folder is empty.

I just turned on the setting in the phone app and it has worked for me ever since. I'm using the built in phone app and I haven't rooted or unlocked bootloader so it is 100% stock right now (I don't even have the August security patch yet). The settings are weird because they are split in two different places.
To get to the first place you:
Open the phone app > three dots (top right) > call recordings > three dots (top right) > settings
For the second place you:
Open the phone app > three dots (top right) > settings > call > advanced > call recording

Well, I had factory reset the phone and prepared it for sale. After reading what you said, I turned it on again, inserted my SIM and did a test call and it recorded both times with no issues whatsoever. I wonder what the issue could have been. I am positive I gave it all the rights and access it asked for. Weird. But it is working now. Thanks. I am beginning to reconsider selling it. That is one huge thing ticked off the list. And to my surprise too, Google Voice notifications are now working just fine. No issues. You must have brought me good luck

I've had similar issues with phones in the past where things didn't work for no apparent reason and we're solved with a factory reset with seemingly no change. But call recording was also a big thing for me so I made sure to check before I bought it that that was included. Can't say anything about the Google Voice notifications as I don't use it but I'm glad I could bring the good luck and let me know if there is something else I could help you with. Personally I am loving the my Z6 and will definitely be keeping it.
I would have thought that xposed or other rooted apps would be able to give you the features you need (dual apps, call recording, etc)... but I don't know enough about those features to offer a solution.
In regards to getting your money back, you can also look into your credit card to see if it offers return protection. My Chase Sapphire Reserve will refund me up to $500 per item if the vendor won't take it back. American Express Blue also has offers return protection up to $300 per item. Other credit cards may have similar benefits, but you'll need to read their fine print to get all the details.. This won't apply in your situation, but if an item is accidentally damaged, credit cards usually will refund the cost of the device, I think up to $1000 or something like that.

I almost never use the speakers, but when I tested it, it was fine. It's not top of the line sound and it sounds more tin-ny and slightly less bass than my Pixel 2 XL, but I wouldn't have noticed that unless I was comparing them side by side. The Zenfone 6's speakers can get very loud though, to the point of hurting my ears, which is a plus.... whereas the Pixel 2 XL can't get that loud.

No Wifi Calling
No VoLTE
I'm on T-Mobile (or a MVNO of it), and the call quality was horrible.
Dialing a number also was the pits. As I would get a spinning circle for more than 10 seconds, before connecting to the network, and attempting to dial.
Sometimes, it would never dial the number, even though, I had 3 and 4 bars showing on the phone.
Sound quality was OK, but, I was expecting a little more. (yes, I tried different audio settings too)
The cameras, were fun, took good pictures, but, for me, didn't quite have the color exposure or "POP" I thought I should get with a 48MP camera (set in 48MP mode)
This was Version C (USA phone). Very disappointed!

I just created another thread specifically about the ultra-weak, useless vibration. I've missed more notifications in my first week of ownership than I ever have, even on budget phones.
I am joining this club of returning the device. I received RMA to return my device. My reasons for returning are,
1. The flip camera is making tapping noise when not in use. When the phone is in our pocket and while walking it is making tapping noise.
2. Device is heavier than expected.
3. Rear fingerprint scanner is a nuisance when put the phone in car holder. We have to use key pad to unlock. Front scanner is more convenient.
The alternate phone I have ordered is xioami mi 9. I heard that this phone ticks all boxes of a flagship phone and half the price of flagship phones.

So 4 days back I searched for this cool device on olx and found out the man who is selling it is my friend. I asked him to come at my home and I checked his device. The things I found problem with are:
• Wear and tear from sides (boundary)
• IMEI not matched with back of the phone. I mean the Imei in settings>>about and imei written on back side of the phone are both different. I know the real Imei is what i get on settings but there are more things indicated by this. Which are:
• the phone’s back is changed so it must have been broken.
• it may have original part replaced internally? who knows
• its no more water proof
• we checked its heart monitor sensor and it wasn’t working either.
After all these things will you recommend me to buy this phone?
I am in quarentine these days. So I cant move to look for another phone. and i live in a backward area in a town the closest city is 1 hour away from here so there is no chance. There is nobody else selling this phone in my place (there are only 14 ads total in my area lol).
Should I buy this phone looking at all these things what do you recommend me?
I will never use health monitor btw
I am buying it mostly for camera a little bit pubg and for texts and call. Maybe as s daily driver. Thank u.

Try looking on SWAPPA. I have purchased 8 or 10 phones there with no problems.
I can’t. Swappa dont work in my country. Im from Asia. BTW I bought it and its amazing phone. There was no issue with it except different imei in back cover.

Question Pixel 6 refurbish check

I'd like to know is there any possibility to check if pixel 6 phone is repaired/refurbished?! I've bought p6 pro today but can't make fingerprint to work (FOTO in attachment). I saw that other people have same problems when phone turns off by self (battery goes to 0% and buy) but after hard restart everything works again...not in my case. Seller told me that his wife used telephone for just few days and decided to stay on iPhone, but I'm start to thinking that I'm scammed; under display on small plastics antenna line I see just a little scratch so I'd like to ask is there a chances that screen is replaced. All other looks like 100% new phone.
Sounds like it may have been opened. During factory assembly it's very unlikely for this to happen.
It may actually be a mark from a plastic pick used to disassemble it and not a scratch.
The display is replaced as are internal components from the front I believe.

Sounds like it may have been opened. During factory assembly it's very unlikely for this to happen.
It may actually be a mark from a plastic pick used to disassemble it and not a scratch.
The display is replaced as are internal components from the front I believe.

Since the OP states that he bought the phone used, it's more likely that the person previously in charge of keeping the phone, damaged it/scratched it. Plastic is ridiculously easy to scratch, even a grain of sand in your pocket can be enough.

If the phone was properly cleaned and re-packaged and not damaged, there is no way for you to find out if you received a refurbished phone (phone that was sent back by the original customer without damage, return window or something). At least not from a "software" perspective. You as a perceptive human can always try to see if there is dust residue, fingerprint signs or anything "physical" like that on the phone/inside the package, but there is not much more than can help you to decide that (except asking Google, you could hit them up with the phone IMEI and tell them that you bought it used and want to know if it ever got officially repaired/replaced, but I have no idea if Google would even bother giving you a decent answer).
Concerning repair (phone being opened by a repair technician to fix stuff inside) - other than physical markers (prying a phone open can cause damage to the chassie), there is not much that you can find out about that. There is no way to get the specific part IDs with software and even if that was possible, it wouldn't help your cause since Google would only use genuine original parts to repair a phone.
Concerning the "plastic under display" part, I do not follow here. What plastic under display? The display is not transparent, you can't see the phones interior through it. Can you make a photo of your observation?

Most likely the battery died resulting in the FP Sensor getting disabled. A Factory reset and/or full flash to latest image should always be done when buying a phone (especially when it's used). This will fix your issue also (using the flash.android.com tool) along with the calibration tool at the bottom of this page: pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carrier_selection -- 99% a factory reset/wipe, flashing to the lastest build and using the fingerprint calibration tool will fix your issue. If not, you can get a replacement by telling google you did all of these things and they'll send you a phone (usually an advanced RMA if you show you've done everything previously mentioned).
The "Flash Tool" will update your Pixel to the latest Android version, along with an option to "Wipe" the device (make sure to hit the edit pencil and pick "Wipe Device" & "flash all partitions" ; if its a VZW model, updating in Android System in settings and factory reset in Recovery will be good enough, along with the calibration tool): flash.android.com/back-to-public
If it was refurbished by Google, you can put your IMEI# in the official Pixel Repair link below, and it will tell you some information (for example if its Unlocked, "Pristine or Refurbished" etc - it's a pretty great way to find out some info about a pixel (didn't know about it until recently). If the screen was replaced by UbreakiFixit for example, it probably won't show up as refurbished. it has to go through Google to probably be changed in the system, but I am just speculating.

@Alekos Last night i did install last (Dec) update with adb fastboot; found it here on xda (because google pull it back from servers) but as i sad, problem is still here/same. From some reason repairmypixel with google doesnt work; I put telephone in right mode, google chrome finds it, but when I start procedure it goes and goes and ~5min later Telefon restarts by self and Im getting disconnect error/try again msg. Ill try this link now to see what happens with imei, thanks one more time.
@bobby janow I've got a bill brom google store, but im going back in my country in a few day and don't have enough time to "play" with warranty procedures
Btw I've made a Foto of "under display scratch" the best I could; for me it is out of mind that someone opened display on anthena line but who knows

And then there is Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair, which I suspect is what you're talking about didn't work for you, but please confirm. I know over the last two months, some others have occasionally checked Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair and found that they hadn't updated it for the Pixel 6/Pro yet, so maybe that's still the case.

Thanks, are you using the OEM USB-C cable? At least half a dozen users in this section didn't have success getting their Pixel 6 Pro working using the factory image zip, but Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair got their phone restored to stock and fixed their issue. It really seems to have been a lifesaver for some.

I'm going through this Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair, see results soon. And I'm thinking that I know where is problem with pixelrepair.withpixel...didn't kill adb command; this flash tool tould me that i have to do first becouse adb is already in use...can be sam problem.

Did you figure this out yet? I would try wiping the phone, installing the latest build from the flash tool website (specifically this link: flash.android.com/back-to-public), on that page, edit the options for "Wipe" and "Flash all partitions". After it's done, run the Calibration tool (bottom of this page: pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carrier_selection ) - this should work, if not my guess is there's a bigger issue.
Still same problem with fingerprint...now I'm certain that's the hardware problem; or screen is replaced or FP sensor is dead
Anyway, I want to thank you all 9ne more time, I've learned something new yesterday and today!!

That message is so familiar to me and i'm frightening of it
For the last month I've been in possession of 3 (three!) p6p. The 1st one was received from my carrier and it burned out while updating to December software being only 2 weeks old, no sign of life, dead while charging etc.
Google shipped another one stating it is Pristine which means Like New condition. It came in a refurbished white box, much smaller than the original one and there was a tiny dent - almost like yours but located on top of the screen. What is the most important - I was getting that message "Enrollment was not complete..." Flashing at flash.android.com did not solve anything but was successful. Google support representative advised to get into safe mode, try to configure fingerprint again and it didn't work as well. Calibration tool was not offered as an option at all.
Now it's on the way back to google. The 3rd one I'm owning now is a new phone with no issues so far.
So my advice is to return your faulty phone to the seller if you are still able to. Getting a replacement from Google is tricky as you may get another pristine p6p with the same or other issues. Or you are lucky and you will get a good one but it's a lottery anyway. So it's up to you.
