Question Carrier Hub Processing Requests - Constant Notification Since Update - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3

I just updated to the new T-mobile October update today and ever since then, I have a constant notification from "Carrier Hub" that says "Processing requests" and "MCM Client requests are processing...". My research shows this is a Sprint app, and I am a Sprint customer, but this SIM is a T-mobile SIM because it is all becoming T-mobile and the Sprint network is being shut down in January. It won't allow me to uninstall the app. Before the update, I would occasionally see the notification for a second or two before it went away, but now this is constant. It can't be swiped away. I can tell it to not give notifications, but since it can't be found in Settings or apps, in the future I won't be able to undo that setting. It seems to say it isn't using up battery, thankfully, but I don't know why it isn't processing whatever requests. Seems like there have been these issues with it for over a year on others' phones.
Anyone else have this issue after the new update? Anyone know how to fix it? (A factory reset is NOT an option.)

I'm on T-Mobile and have the same issue. I disabled the carrier hub service notification and that stopped the notification from appearing. I am able to access the app when I enable "show system apps" from the filter and sort menu of the apps menu under settings.

Thank you!! I just disabled the notification. Thankfully, it still says it has used 0% battery after running for 6 hrs. 45 min., so it doesn't affect battery life somehow, but I don't know if affects our signal or what.

Hopefully it gets sorted out with the next update. I'm not going to worry about it for now as it doesn't seem to be affecting anything. Just happy to get rid of the annoying notification.

I was able to turn it off in the developer options last night and this morning it came on again. What gives?

I turned it off as described in my previous post and it has not returned. Not sure why the developer options route did not work but might want to give it a try and see if it sticks. Hopefully a future firmware update or service provider configuration update fixes it.

I went into the apps and turned it off. Hopefully it sticks. Thanks

Mine normally clears after I let it sit for a couple hours and then reboot.

I don't want to just turn off the notification because then it'll be doing something but I just won't see it. I want it to just stop running. I tried to force stop and that worked for about a day then it came back. Anyone got any updates on this yet?

No update yet. I'm leaving the service notification off until the next update, then I'll turn it back on and see if the issue has been resolved.

I am fine with turning the notification off because it doesn't drain the battery, but maybe you can try downloading the T-mobile version of the app from the Play Store and see if it works and fixes the problem?

maybe marketplace is acting up.
You need to be logged in to windows live on phone and computer i believe.
I've seen that message occasionally. Generally power cycling the phone solves it.

it's hasn't worked for me, i have reset my phone 3 times so far with countless power down cycles.
I have a sr with ms to see what's going on. I can download free apps but not paid apps, music, games etc.
waiting to hear from MS, lets see what happens.
I get this error from time to time when my Omnia switches from 3G to WiFi (and vice versa) A power cycle seems to be the only way to fix it.
same problem????????????
Have you enable cookies via settings? Try to uncheck that box, restart your phone and check it again.
May be also operator/network problem.
Very common thing indeed.
Check the regional settings on the device, on the computer with the Zune software and in your live account. If they are not the same you get this error message. I had the same problem and I was able to solve it due to the change of this settings.
I hope it will work for you too
i got this problem too! nothing you guys said has worked any other ideas?
Same problem here, looks like there is something going on with market.
Seems to be working now! i uninstalled some apps but could have been that it just decided to start working
that seems to be the fix. it was happening when the phone was trying to update the trial versions of apps. the only way to fix the problem is to delete the free trials... but that was a like a week ago n i havent ran into the problem again
Read in MS support forum there was some sever adjustment.

[Q] Sporadic Incoming Calls, My Phone Number Unknown...

Let me start this question with a big thanks to all the developers/etc. out there. The work being done is AMAZING!
I am a new "rooter", but learning fast. I am running Cyanoginger 1.1 on my MT3GS. I have noticed a few things that aren't quite right, and I am unsure if they are related to each other, or to Cm 6.1.1, or ~ginger 1.1, or...
1. Incoming phone calls seem to sporadically go to voicemail instead of the phone. My phone can be sitting on my desk with full bars, I'll call my phone from my desk, it'll ring once or twice and jump to voicemail (nothing shows up on the MyTouch). I'll call again 10 seconds later, and it goes to my phone. Very sporadic (maybe 1 in 20 calls?)
2. My phone number shows Unknown in Settings > About phone > Status. I read in a few forums that this may be the case untill you place/receive a call, but mine is still showing unknown.
3. My market purchases are no longer integrated with carrier billing. It's asking for a credit card instead of automatically billing me at T-Mobile.
Like I said, I'm a noob at rooting/modding, but I learn quick Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated!

The unknown number thing has to do with cm6.1.1. It shouldn't affect you anyway. For the first issue, probably t-mobile issue, neither your phone nor your ROM. Happens to me on all my phones, even my dumbphones.
The market thing is something that you give up when you flash a custom ROM. I think there might be something that can tie market to your tmobile account, but I can't find it again, it was mentioned in a thread recently.
Thanks for the quick response!
On points 2 and 3, I guess that's just the way it is. Little things, I can definitely deal.
On the first point, I just want to make sure this isn't happening because of how I flashed new roms, or how I upgraded the radio, etc.
FWIW, here's the process I used:
- rooted phone with adb/file copy, etc., etc.
- booted to ESPRIMG.zip (oops, rebooted, no backup of system!)
- booted to Clockwork
- cleared data, cleared cache, flashed CM 6.1.1, flashed gapps, rebooted
- went back to clockwork flashed radio from 7.07.(????) directly to 7.09.35.10, rebooted
- "stumbled" across Cyanoginger 1.1...
- booted to Clockwork, cleared data, cleared cache, flashed to Cyanoginger 1.1
The phone prior to rooting never had any issues receiving calls, but who knows, maybe it's because I'm staring at it, maybe it's solar flares, maybe I've angered the cell phone gods...ok, humor's "off" a bit today
If you have any further thoughts, let me know; otherwise thanks for your help! I really appreciate it!
Yeah that all sounds right. I haven't ever had issues with my phone number showing up, it seems to only happen to some people, and like you said, normally it goes away after placing or receiving a call. Who knows. I don't think it affects any apps though. I could be wrong about that, not sure. It might be your sim card, which would explain some calls not going through as well.
I know there is a way to tie the market to your t-mobile account, I just can't remember at the moment. I googled around, couldn't find anything. I think it's called market fix or something rather. I could be thinking of something else though. Frankly I like paying with my debit card better, it was never a huge deal for me, so I never thought too much into it.

I know exactly what you're talking about... I just can't seem to find it either. It was in a thread recently, like you said.
Maybe it's just vanished
I'm gonna keep searching though.
EDIT: So I was starting to flip out, cause I could not for the life of me find the thread...
But I decided to go to my phone and see if maybe I could just find the app in the market. Then I saw that I had already searched for it before, because I actually have the same issue. I just never downloaded it and tested it out.
It's called "Market Enabler"
I'm going to download it now and test it myself.
EDIT 2: Or maybe that's not it. I don't know, I can't seem to figure it out. Maybe MusicMan can take a look? I could have sworn this was an app suggested for that, but it just looks like it makes it so you can see apps that aren't on certain carriers.

Well, I "stumbled" across the solution to #2. As far as I've heard from others so far, it's purely cosmetic, but...
Go to Settings > Call Settings > Additional Settings > My phone number and enter the number. Now when you go to Settings > About phone > Status it will show the number you entered.
Again, this may be purely cosmetic, and I've noticed if you reboot, the setting gets wiped. Strange...but there you go...
Sorry to bring up this issue back up but I just recently Rooted my phone as well and am having the same problem with sporadic calls not coming to my phone.
For example, last night my father told me that he tried to call me at least 3 times in a row and it would go straight to voicemail, however today he called me (like 2 mins ago) and the phone rang as normal. Heres what I've noticed on the phone:
-the phone will drop all bars sporadically for no apparent reason, as I have never had any service issues in my house.
-it does this when its been idle for a couple of minutes and as soon as I wake it up it will show 0 bars then jump to the normal 2-3 I usually get at my place.
-whenever the bars drop to 0 my 3g/HSPA service will still show as normal
I'm not completely new to Rooting (Rooted my original G1), however my last experience with it was back on CM4.1 on my G1, so there may be a o couple of things I missed
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi, I've a similar problem: on outgoing calls anyone on any phone is able to see my number, they always get calls from "unknown" from my phone. I use wolfbreak's rom with cyanogen and I've allready set in the settings the option to show my number on outgoing calls, but doesn't work. how can I do?

Push errors? App's crashing? Possible fix!

Howdy!
So- shortly before the NoDo update, I noticed some erratic behavior with some of my apps. For one thing, push notifications for everything that wasn't a phone function seemed to be inconsistent. Secondly, certain apps just wouldn't work (e.g. AP Mobile crashed on launch, Alpha Jax wouldn't show notifications, gReadie, Flixster, AP Mobile and Weather live tiles wouldn't update.)
I did some research and it looks like these errors are related to the "push constipation" issue, where inactive or uninstalled apps with push or live tile function remain in the registry. Now, before NoDo if you had an unlocked device you could install a registry editor and remove some registry entries and the problems were solved... but I decided to wait for NoDo, hoping it would fix the issue but it did not.
So after trying everything, even resetting the phone completely, the issues keep coming back after some time. Until today!
Long story short, for whatever reason, disabling WiFi and cellular data, turning the phone off and then back on, and opening the programs that seem to be having issues while still offline... seems to fix the issue. After turning data back on I can confirm that all of my issues were solved:
AP Mobille tile updates
Alpha Jax notifications come through
gReadie live tile updates
Weather live tile updates
Maybe it's coincidence, but I just wanted to share here so that if any other locked, post NoDo users were having these kind of issues, they could try to fix it.
I was getting super frustrated and hope I can prevent that for some others lol. Good luck!
No go for me...
Alpha Jax from time to time will keep notification on there when in fact there is none, and also from time to time will show no notification when there is one. But on my Arrive after I get a new notification and play the indicator fixes itself, conversely if I have no notification and I have a game to play, if I play out the game, on the next go around the notification works correctly.
AlphaJax keeps giving me the Push Notification error. I tried your method with no luck unless I did something wrong.
I did a hard reset only about 2 weeks ago so this situation is just beyond stupid.
After the NoDo update, my tiles stopped working but using your method worked. I did exactly as you wrote but took an extra step and re-synced my apps that used toast notifications and now they're back. Although, it seems to only work for tiles that use toast notifications because the weather channel tile still has a mind of its own, but that's probably due to pull and not push and I reinstalled AP Mobile but the live tile doesn't work for me.
So Microsoft might be right in that the problem might have to do with some kind of issue with the phone's internet connection instead of the max number of registry entries, or it could be a combo of both??
Either way, thanks dude!
Gus can you post a step by step guide of what you did because I don't get anywhere. Cheers.

I think their problem is different from yours, as I reproduced your problem and this fix won't work for me either. I think there's was just a matter of resyncing the servers after the update while yours is the 'notification constipation' issue. I broke mine purposely, not sure if you remember, and can't get it back. I'm not going to hard reset either as I really don't care, as my main live tile (WeatherBug) still works... But hopefully Microsoft addresses this with a patch. You could always revert back to your back up and unlock as a temporary fix, then reupdate to fix the registry, though I completely agree with you that we shouldn't have to do it, and it shouldn't be an option. I don't think even Microsoft expected the growth it has received, both sales & marketplace wise, or it definitely would have set the limit significantly higher...

[Q] "Sign in to network" notification

Hello,
A few days ago I started receiving a notification saying "Sign in to network" and below that the name of my carrier (see the screenshot). When I click on the notification, the browser opens up but does not load any page and just stays blank. At that time the notification disappears but then appears again after a while.
Has anyone seen this and do you know why it may be appearing? I am fully stock on 4.2 and unrooted.
Thanks!
Does nobody know?
Hi,
Same problem here (with Mtel network operator),
After updating to 4.2.1 the problem still persists. After I click on the notification it asks me to open in a browser and then opens this address for a second 173.194.70.101/generate_204 , and turns into blank page.
I think that when I walk away from one network cell to a another it asks me to sign into the new cell, but I am not really sure..
I`ll keep posting if I find the solution..
Not sure if there is any difference for GSM variants of Gnex, but have you tried updating your PRL & Profile?
(Settings>About Phone>MTel? system updates)
Sometimes after a flash/upgrade until I update my Sprint profile, service seems spottier. Only other thing I can think is that your phone somehow is no longer provisioned with your carrier, shouldn't be the case (I think) when dealing with GSM carriers since your SIM what provisions the phone, but maybe poke around settings to see if there is some sort of self-provisioning option, or call M-tel.
Check your APNs. You might need new/corrected APN settings or something. That usually shows up when you're on a network (usually WiFi) that needs a user/password or accept a disclaimer to get through to the internet.
However on a mobile network the APN should serve as the connection settings and the SIM serves as authentication to the network. Normally you wouldn't be able to connect to mobile internet. Does MMS work?

Hey, guys, thanks for your input. Actually, since yesterday I stopped receiving this notification all of a sudden. I have not done anything in the mean time, so I guess it was something on the carrier's end that got resolved or something.

Hi there. By trial and error i found out that this icon starts appearing when the carrier throttles your internet speed. For example, I have unlimited internet traffic but when I reach 512 MB of traffic, the internet speed is lowered to 128 kbps. This is when the icon starts appearing for me. I also found out that if you dismiss it, it will appear again if you change connections (e.g. go from wifi to mobile). I find this behaviour annoying but I found no way to prevent it, as it seems to be something on the carrier's side.
I have the same problem only on my android phone (4.2.2) Samsung Galaxy S3 when I am at my home WIFI..
Could it be a virus. only diffference is the IP.. my browser tries to load this: 173.194.35.99/generate_204
i've blocked this IP. I can't even access play store now! rest all things work

i dnt think its caused by virus. Try check ur apn setting. Or reformat ur phone.
When you connect a mobile device with Google Play via WiFi, I have found that I must allow ssl traffic via port 5228. This connection I think is an authorization service deployed by Google. If you trust it or not, when you block outbound port 5228 (or if you block Googles' ip's) you will see the "sign into network" This is because Google Play assumes (poorly) you are connected to a WiFi network which requires a captive portal login (ie Hotel WiFi sign-in page). I am no dev but I believe the "generate_204" thing just forces the mobile browser to open a new tab so the login page will appear. It's not spooky just annoying.
Why did Google choose to deploy ssl over port 5228 and not the standard 443? Not sure, but it might lead to your Firewall's security policy blocking it as it did for mine.
I started getting the same notification on my nexus 5 recently. I had reached my data fair usage allowance and so it started appearing. I noticed that in the data usage setting the warning bar was set to my fair usage limit so I just raised the bar and hey presto no more warnings. Based on this I reckon when your data usage cycle resets each month you'll see the warning disappear until you hit your limit again.
Just done a quick test by dropping the data usage bar back to where it originally was, turned off WiFi and started browsing the web. The warning appeared again.

I have had this issue ever since I got this current phone (not a Samsung, but hear me out). From what I can tell, it is because it can not contact someone (probably Google) via cellular network. I also get this when on a WiFi connection with no internet (or very, very slow), further supporting this.
I am in an interesting situation. My carrier only has 1 APN for both MMS and data combined. However, I only get MMS with my plan, not full data. Therefore, I need to keep data enabled in Android to use MMS. Because of this I get this notification ALL THE TIME.
I'm going to try to get a logcat when it happens and see if I can find the exact service and maybe kill it. I'll update if I figure it out.

I have the same problem. It make notification at the time u linked to mobile data too, and i can't suffer it any more.So i have searched all internet and have no progress. But i found the way to block its notifications rather than voiding generation.
It's a notification generated from "Android System" and seems like a network-check function. So the problem have the mobile carrier's part(I'm in china, you know). And u can't block all notifications of "Android System" using tools like LBE or Gravitybox or anyothers cause it is useful all the time.
This Xposed Mod can help us: NotifyClean, it is the only tool to block several notifications u want of one app.
Use it in ur rooted system with xposed framework, and open it from xposed. It can log all notifications and u can tick the "Sign in to network"s in "Android System".

What is "Carrier Call Utility" ?

I've never seen this "app" before. It just appeared today. Looks like it was pushed down from Sprint. It's called simply "Carrier Call Utility" and the icon is the Sprint logo. Version 6.0.015
It can't be opened, stopped, or uninstalled.
Does anyone know what it is? Is it new or did I just not see it before?
Carrier Call Utility
I do hope someone comes up with an answer for this. I just this morning (04/08/17) saw that it had "successfully been installed" on my phone as well. I have an ex son in law who installs imsi catcher quality spyware on the phones of his ex family members, so it is especially worrying for me. I can't imagine that it is something I need since the phone has worked fine without it all this time, so even if it's not something dangerous, it is 17.45mb of space being used by something utterly without merit at best and a liability at worst...
Anyone have any ideas? Talking to Sprint is not likely to get an answer that makes any sense.
It appeared on my phone too. Really annoying. I tried to find out what it is online, and finding nothing but this thread, I decided to just pull its plug if I could. I went into Settings, General, Apps and found it there. "Force Stop" and "Uninstall" weren't active for this app, so I clicked on the upper right dots and was able to disable the app that way. It showed way too many permissions for it to access my files and information anyway, which never makes me happy. It said that all data would be lost if I did, and asked if I wanted to revert back to the old app. Since I didn't ASK for this app, I clicked okay for it to remove and replace it. The app was replaced with the old Sprint Zone app. Which I never used anyway.
I check my phone just now, 4/11/17, I don't have this app....
I have Boost Mobile and just now it was force installed and a message said boost zone is now my boost. I unistalled app update for carrier xall utility and unindtslled my boost and carrier call utility disappeared but nothing shows in uninstalled apps. I cleared my browsers cache and rebooted phone.
Update to my reply: It has reinstalled on my lgk3 phone three times now. I uninstall "my boost" which reverts back to "boost zone" which gets of call carrier utillity from my installed apps. But it just reinstalls again later.

Have to agree with Annoyed Too; it is another version (maybe?) of the Sprint Zone app, which like Annoyed Too, I never used. I never even opened it to see what it supposedly did. I can force stop mine after doing the reversion back to original app, but this is almost as annoying as Sprint Optimizer, the function of which is evidently to eat your battery. That's another one I have to keep force-stopping and can't get rid of...
I have boost mobile too and lookout security said it was safe to install

Oh, I'm sure it's safe enough, as it is a Sprint program, but the point is that it is there taking up resources and space with little if any benefit to the phone user. It is 17.45MB of uselessness that I'm certain no more than 0.5% of the population will ever even open to access and about 10% of THAT number will never use at all. I actually don't know a single person that has used Sprint Zone for anything, ever! More than half the people I speak to regularly have Sprint and none of them ever uses it; most of us have no real idea what it is supposed to be for, lol!
When I uninstalled the updates, it reset itself back to the old Sprint Zone.
Same thing happened to me. I have Boost Mobile so the app on my phone is called My Boost. I reverted back to the factory version yesterday (Boost Zone) and discovered that such reversion only lasts 24 hours. My Boost was reinstalled. Looks like I need to root, though I don't want to because I bricked my previous phone.
I've never rooted a device simply because I figure that what you said would be exactly what would happen to me; the device would be a paperweight at the end of the process. I just wish we had a little more control over what ends up on our phones. If we wanted the particular software, we would research the apps, choose apps useful to us as individual users and install them ourselves. It seems like they would get that the fact that we didn't do that means we don't want the app on our devices. Of course, what WE want rarely plays a role in what the carrier companies decide to clutter up our phones with...
It just popped up as an update on my phone a little bit ago. I pressed on it and it disappeared. Had to go into settings to find it. This is the only link that comes up when I googled it. Then I had a notification pop up saying is the new Sprint Zone. I'm about sick of these updates and random stuff being added to my phone without my permission. Hell, I have an S6 so I can't install a sd card for more space so please stop. We should be allowed to delete applications as we please unless they are really needed period.
