I plan to bring this phone for my family member whose carrier supports this phone model but only mentions models supported with software made available by them.
I suppose if it has a stock firmware or firmware from different carrier/region/country I am be out of lock and wifi calling and VoLTE may not work?
Hey mate, im from australia and can confirm that none of the australian carriers have volte/wifi available. You may need to flash a different firmware to make it appear in the settings. Its been awhile since i sold my g 5g plus and cant remember if it was there on the australian firmware or not, but i doubt it.

Thanks mate! I saw on another Australian forum that Moto G5 didnt have volte/vowifi on Telstra but the more recent moto G 5G Plus indeed had confirmed support.
Altough its possible it may need to be fladhed with EU region firmwate to work in Europe.

The US firmware? The US uses the WW SKU which is supposed to work in basically all counties that don't have their own SKU.
As title says which version of phone should i avoid on fleabay as i want to buy this phone. No one seems to answer this specifically :/

i get that i need the european version but the american handsets will work too and i've been told to avoid the Tmobile version at all costs.
i just needed to now which is the best variant from the american/canadian ones!

I got the LM-G710EM version, IMEI number is valid, everything seems fine, but cannot upgrade to android 9.... it should have been available since last spring... any advice? ?

I think is a crossflashed device. Mine is EM too, but came with open EU rom and it is a TIM device (italian carrier). Amazon things...
U can flash any firmw u want with lg_up 14-15, but with no ota support due to restrictions. U can always search ur region with ur imei in internet after a simple search on google, but if the device is from carrier... I recommend u a clean open eu kdz over any carrier firmware.

I have a US unlocked version G781U1/DS. Is it possible to convert to G781B/DS? The reason for this is European B version has dual sim support, whereas apparently it is disabled on US models. Otherwise why would Samsung put DS into model name for U1 and snap in a dual sim tray?
I think both devices have same hardware specs.

Why would you want to do this? The U1 version is a multi-CSC firmware and should work as needed in any country. I have not been able to secure a FW set for the S20 FE5G as of yet, but if it was available, it could be confirmed or denied that the specific CSC you need is contained within. Again, I'm rather curious about the issue you're facing to lead you to want to do this. Technically, you should be able to flash any Snapdragon CSC that is built for the same device. That is speculative as ive not confirmed this, but that is how it has been historically from the S8 onward
I have tried all CSC versions available in CSC menu, none of them enables dual sim. Note CSC available are most for US carriers like TMB and ATT. There is XAA (international apparently) available as well but does not enable dual sim either.

I know nothing about the G8s, never owned one, but generally speaking, pretty sure changing the firmware is much the same as the G8. There are some no no's, like if you have dual sim to single sim, or vice versa, but you don't say anything about the firmware you're referring to... it might help to know why you want to change, iow, what are you trying to accomplish?
But more than likely, it shouldn't be a problem. I'd suggest first to ask on the tele group for the v50 / G8 devices, they are more international experience there and will be more certain. Cheers

Also LG Germany declared Android 12 update. Morover I couldn’t find setting for VoWifi and Volte. All firmwares are meant for LG G8s, which is available in 3 versions g810ea, g810eaw and g810ra.

From what I can see on the firmware pages, should be okay. Always keep in mind that ea individual rom has certain bands enabled, so be sure the bands it has will meet your needs.
Also, vowifi and volte are dependent on your carrier, not just the phone. The G8s is capable of both, but if your carrier doesn't allow them then there's no way to make the work. And, some carriers (like US at&t), only allow it to work on their phones - or at least that was the case at one time.
It's always best to flash an 'open' version Rom, if there's one available with the bands you need, and your carrier allows a phone on their network that isn't running their specific rom (usually an mvno type carrier is best).

Has anyone successfully tried to convert Verizon edge+ 5g uw (XR2201-R4) to the fully unlocked US Motorola retail version (XR2201-R3)? I found the rom for the US retail version but I'm not sure if flashing that build will brick the phone or if I'll even get access to more cellular bands in the process. I saw forms converting the cn x30 version to global but I'm not sure if it would be possible for the Verizon US variant. I'm trying to also convert the rtos firmware to unlock more cell bands
i have the same phone, and it reminds me of the Lg V30. You had to convert that phone to the US 998 version. But i waited a long time until people smarter than me had figured it out.
