Question A52s battery issue - Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G

Hi
My A52s battery don't seem to last long, upon checking Always On Display was consuming 16% of it. Thats a little excessive isn't it?

That is impossible to say. The 16% is the AODs part of the total consumption. It is NOT, as many believe 16 % of the battery that is used. If the phone has 95% battery left and the AOD has used 16% of this part that is only 5% of the capacity, the AOD has consumed less than 1 % of the battery capacity.
So say that the phone is used very little or newly rebooted this is not bad. But if the phone has been used for several days and you have used web browser, games and other stuff there is something wrong.

[Q] battery life suddenly horrendous

My battery life suddenly became horrible this morning. Normally I unplug my phone every morning around 6AM, and i dont need to charge it again until closer to 9PM.
This morning, I realized that despite being on a full charge at 6AM as usual, my battery was completely depleted by 10. I checked the battery "app" and it said that phone idle and cell standby were both at 13% usage, and that was the most i had used my phone. it registered the full time (4 hours) of usage for those 2 but it also said that it was only responsible for 13 % of my battery drain each. After that there was google play services.
I figured it was just a fluke, so I reboot the phone and recharged it. Once again, the battery drained in a mere 4 hours. This time it told me a voice call of only 10 minutes length was responsible for 35% of my battery drain, and that having my screen on for a seperate 10 minutes was responsible for 25% of my battery drain. This might be fine and dandy if the actual draining chart showed a steep fall off when i made the call, but that is not the case. the chart is a straight line showing constant drainage with no steep or flat areas. I'm thinking something is definitely wrong and the phone is causing itself to drain. maybe something hardware oriented, since i dont even have very many apps downloaded.
I've literally only interacted with my phone maybe 3 times today, and I didnt even do anything major.
Do you guys have any ideas as to what is going on with it?
I'm CM10, latest stable. not the monthlies. no cpu hacks or anything, and as I said, this problem cropped up this morning. before this everything has been fine.

If I hadnt already made sure I was following the tips and I wasnt dead sure that something was the problem, I would not have made this post.
I did manage to figure out the problem by sheer dumb luck and a little bit of educated guessing.
I uninstalled the MyFitnessPal and tried again today. I'm exhibiting normal battery drain now (10 hours and im at 46% with not too much usage of the phone).
If you read the post I made, no apps were showing up as a large battery drainer, and all my stats were reporting incorrect times (13% battery usage for a 4 hour period despite showing me i only used the phone for 10 minutes). So something was definitely wrong. Uninstalling the app fixed the issue though, so for anyone who exhibits this problem, uninstall whatever apps you most recently installed and do a reboot.
I didnt have to reset or anything.

A Different Kind of Battery Drain

Yes, I know these battery drain threads are getting annoying, but I can't seem to find a solution to mine...
What happens is that after charging to 100% or near it, I have a very small battery drain (like 11-14 %/h), and then if I do something a bit more demanding (games, substratum, etc) my battery drain starts to get a little worse (16-20%/h). Even if I return to my light usage after my heavier usage, the battery drain is still there...
Battery usage is calculated based on capacity used over time since last charge. It's an average, not a real time monitor.

I know that... Which is why I have reset the battery stats, before returning to my light usage. The thing is, the light usage drains much more battery after the heavy usage the before.

Battery and heat

I owned the galaxy S9 (dual sim - 128gb - exynos) since july, my battery doesn't last a whole day, all I get is 4-4.5 hours of SOT. I installed phone info for samsung from play store and checked the battery status, it says that battery health is 91.37%.
And my phone is warm most of the time, not extremely hot, just a little bit. Is it normal? Or my phone has a problem?

Same as mine, feel warm all the time, even not using it. 3hours+ SOT per full charge. Bought it on end of June 2018. After 100 cycles phone info shows 86.53%.

Don't worry about that, I don't think it can be accurate, mine says 84.97% after 54 cycles, and I'm fairly sure I remember it saying it was only about 90% when it was new, so I'd add 10% onto that %
Will wiping system cache help to decrease heat and improve battery life?
Check for any apps that may be constantly functioning in the background, streaming apps that are not closed, etc. GSam is a good app for monitoring this.
Recently, I am not charging my phone like I was doing before, I mean sometimes I recharge it to 100% when it's at 60% for example, or sometimes I let it drop to 10% or lower. Because of university needs...
But I'm noticing a very bad battery life that it lasts me about 16 hours with 2-3 hours of SOT (I only use whatsapp and open some documents at university).
And my phones gets hot sometimes like I said before.
And sometimes I unplug it and after 2 mins it drops from 100% to 98%. The battery drains too quickly! What's the problem here? (I also notice a higher % for android system usage, like 13% or 16% for example)
PS : I tried wiping cache and I saw some apps running in the background and putted them on "always sleeping apps" except of social media apps. But they still run, I can see this in RAM usage. So don't know what to do.

Thanks bro! But I am asking why I need to do all this stuff to make a flagship phone last me the whole day, my friend's s9 battery lasts the whole day with 6 hours of SOT without disabling apps, or optimizing them. And without putting a dark theme...

S20+ Accubattery estimated capacity

I'm just curious, because I've never even looked at the health tab (on THIS phone) until today, since I havent even had my phone for a while month yet. And I also have been getting excellent battery life, so I wasn't concerned about it.
But I looked, kinda by accident at the health tab and saw my estimated capacity is only 96% of what it should be. I've gone through enough charging cycles for their reading to be "accurate" by now, so the data to get the result is there.
I'm just curious, for other people with an S20+, whether it's a SD like mine or the Exynos model, what does your Accubattery estimated capacity read as? Also, how long have you had your phone and how many charge cycles have you done so far? Because there is no way on Earth I could have lost 4% battery in under a month, so either their reading is wrong or Samsung is lying about the battery capacity.

Attaching screenshot for reference.
Mine after 31 sessions says 99%. Some one more technical could help with why yours is low.
Have had the phone for a month now. Exynos version. Had installed accubattery on the first day I believe...
Its a bug I think as I had an s20+ from new and it came out of the box at 17 percent health yet the battery life is phenomenal

Do you charge from 0-100%, every time you charge? Or basically, what are your charging habits?

I don't let the charge run below 25-30% if I can help... I get a screen on time of 6.5 - 7hrs by the time is 25% And 100 - 0 is estimated to last for 9hrs 25mins screen on as per accubattery... I let it charge through the night till 100%, no restrictions there.
Mine is 94% 4218mAh,first phone that I have with this huge difference.I have it for almost one month now..Battery life is great with 6.5-8.5 screen hours..Also strange thing, manufacture date is 5th of March and I get the phone in my hands on 11th of March..Exynos chip.

Yeah that's pretty much what I do, except I don't leave it charging overnight. But for the most part I'll charge to 100% from 30-40%.

I have had mine since March 3rd, SD model, but yeah my battery life is overall amazing...but I have no idea why the estimate is so far off. Because it's no way it went down 4% for me in 1 month. I know it's an estimate only, but it is weird that it's off so much when it should be no less than 99% in the estimate.

Is the battery life normal or is this a serious problem?

I've a brand new Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite, but since a few days I notice that it seems that the battery is draining fast.
So I've done a test: I've charged my phone to 100% and used it until it turned off due to too low battery and it lasted 23 hours and 3 minutes.
But I doubt if this is normal and I'm kinda worried about it.
I've bluetooth off, and wifi is always on except when I go outside and then I use mobile data.
I use my phone for surfing, using social media, chatting, gaming, making nice pics and more.
So is the battery life normal or is this a serious problem?
is 23hr bad ? I feel like my one is always above 80% as it charges that fast I don't seem to notice the battery being low

I dunno
I haven't mentioned the standby time and the active time in the topic, and I cannot find that data anymore so that means I have to do the test again
I would advise to install AccuBattery app, fully charge the phone and look at screen off and screen on power consumption at the end of the day.
These numbers are "normal":
Screen off - no activity (over night or phone just laying down for a few hours): 0.2-0.3%/h
Screen off - the usual daily activity (moving around with the phone in the pocket, Whatsapp for web active, Google location tracking active etc.): up to 1.3%/h
Screen on - about 7-9%/h
I'll do another test on Friday as I said.
I'll charge the phone to 100% and use it until the phone turns itself off due to low battery and look at the active time then.
I'll post the results here if the test is done.
What were the results?

I'll tell it you once I've the results.
Today I've redone the test.
I charged my phone to 100% and I then I used it until it was 5%.
I got an active time of 5 hours and 27 minutes and the standby time is 18 hours and 1 minute

My phone is pretty new and I am using it more frequently these days. This leads to similar battery times like you describe them.
I did not do the exact same discharging like you did, but imo battery drains mainly during screen-on time. Over night it is quite stable and only slowly discharging.
Maybe power consumption is dominated by the LED screen? This might be the reason why Xiaomi has such an aggressive screen dimming implemented...
I think what _mysiak_ is describing above, is pretty accurate and explains what you are observing.

Unless your trying to calibrate the battery that's really stressful to the battery to use it like that.
Puts a lot of wear on it... fast.

I know that, and I used to do that all the time but when I received my new phone I changed my habits.
I'm now trying to keep my battery level between 90% and 40% or 30%.

I go with a maximum 80% cutoff.
My current target range is 45-72%
