Question Reasons to unlock bootloader? - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

Why did you unlock your bootloader? I did unlock bootloader and install custom ROM for every Android device that I have ever owned. However, surprisingly I am fairly satisfied with newest MIUI on Poco F3 and I am considering to keep it. Currently, the only thing I am missing is a firewall. I am also worried that custom ROMs often have bugs + there might be problems with banking apps.

I unlocked the bootloader in order to root the device with Magisk and mainly install AdAway ad blocker (and also YouTube Vanced), while keeping official MIUI. Same as you, I don't have any problems with the official MIUI, once all the ads are removed.

I have vanced installed with non-root method. Also I have not used Adaway in years because only few apps that I use have ads + it makes some websites to not work.

For Pixel Rom. MIUI is so cringe, I was very sad that I must use it for a one week. It's just terrible.

^^^^^^^
You're new to Miui. Give it some time and you'll get tired of it too.

Was talikng to the guy above xd

Well I personally unlocked my bootloader to use the Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM. It's MIUI but the latest version with all Xiaomi apps, not the circumsized Global version lol.
I was most interested in the Call Recording Feature in the Xiaomi Phone App. And Android 12. I believe I have more reasons but can't think of them... I really like Call Recording. Idk. I'm a stalker i think.

How is Viper4android better than Wavelet? I have had less problems with Wavelet. It does not need unlocking bootloader also.

Tried Wavelet long ago. Cant comment.
Viper4a is not just an equalizer, its way much more. I personally like bass dynamic settings and possibility to choose bass frequenvys manually.

MIUI Dolby Atmos is superior.
Wavelet sucks too.
I'm not a fanboy of chinese social credits but its just the truth.
Viper4a doesn't impress me quite as much as MIUI Dolby does.

Any AOSP Custom ROM with Dual Apps feature like MIUI?

Dear all,
I love the dual app feature on MIUI and I'm already using it. Is there any other AOSP roms with this feature, NATIVELY SUPPORTED?
I don't want to install a third party app from Google Store, MIUI has it natively supported and it's working flawlessly so far.
Regards.

Okay, acknowledged, thanks for the answer.
So how come it's working flawlessly in MIUI? I guess it shows that MIUI is a really well developed ROM. I don't understand why people choose custom ROMs over MIUI... Just because Oreo and Pie difference?

You would never understand the difference to play games at high resources then, and google camera, and no secret ads, and so on, and so on.
AOSP gives you a lot of free space and resources to work with. You would not understand why people prefer AOSP based ROMs unless you actually try one.
And as for dual app feature, you can try using Parallel Space

Dude..just get miuipro or masik if you need stable dual apps and they also have miui gcam and all ads removed.
Dont listen to these AOSP praisers.
Miui is almost flawless as of now.

I don't really play games on my phone, I play games on my awesome laptop CS:GO and Dota 2. I have Google Camera on my MIUI too, arnova port. Also no ads. However, AOSP ROMs don't have dual apps feature and they need a third party software for this. MIUI doesn't

Agreed, I'm pretty much happy with MIUI. I was just wondering if there is such AOSP ROM, so maybe I could give it a try. Dual apps feature is a MUST for me, as I have multiple accounts on some platforms and I have to be online on them all.
What's the difference between Masik and MIUI Pro? Which one would you recommend?

Here's the thing, idc with what games did you play on your laptop. But if you need a high frames and high quality games, you would need another rom because last time I checked miui is limiting user to do so. And it's a gift for me. Anyway, it's my two cents, no one is forcing you here.

I would recommend you to use parallel space. There are also some other apps like Dual Space ,2accounts,moChat etc
Now to answer the question of the thread,no there is no custom rom built from source which supports dual apps feature as they are just bare vanilla roms with some tweakings here and there. Many people including me prefers that as they don't need that much feature of miui and some also hate the miui interface.
Now if you want to use some other custom rom which has dual apps support then go for treble roms like Funtouch OS,oxygen OS,colour OS and Zen UI roms .Since these roms are not built from source, they have some bugs here and there but it's worth a try if you are feeling adventurous and are looking for roms with dual apps feature

Xiaomi Cloud home screen does not backup MIUI dual apps.
TWRP does not backup MIUI dual apps.
TitaniumBackup does not backup MIUI duap apps.

If you don't what AOSP is, I suggest you to stick with the stock rom.
About the Russian roms mentioned above, use roms only from trusted sources like Lineage OS. There are shady people out there and you will never know what is inside the rom.
You can use app cloner to do that. By this software you can create your own app. That can work as a dual app. By app cloner you will be able to create infinite amount of copy's of that app. And you can use 100+ account together if you got space .
So, you can try app cloner on miui for a test. And also app cloner is filled with other amazing features as well

[Discussion] Which ROM are you guys using and why are you using it?

Hey guys,
Just wanted to know which rom you are using and the reason behind it.
I am using xiaomi.eu 10.2 stable, I am basically using it because of stability. I previously used pixel experience for a while, it was a bit of a hassle to boot it up.Since the dev was inactive and the rom had some bugs I had to use miui which I am not a big fan of.
The goal of this discussion is to find out if anyone is using stock android like roms without any issues.
Thanks

I have the Chinese device, with the Chinese developer vendor image. Installation was just the usual, flash vendor image, flash rom, format data, flash Magisk.
Stock global, because I think MIUI is cool, and I bought this phone for that.

That's about where I was, other than the notification nightmare which made it close to unusable for me. I just couldn't see the point, my conclusion being it's designed for people who like themes, which aren't my cup of tea.
Yeah notifications are a disaster. I thought MIUI was cool and I have all the pixel XL devices too, so I have choices.
Sent from my Mi MIX 3 using Tapatalk
There are a couple apps for which I get notifications but no sound, most notably Google Keep and Settle Up. Other than that, I don't have major issue with notifications since 10.2 update.
Stock Chinese ROM with Nova Launcher Prime for me. I like the lack of Google trash, like Chrome, not being needed to use and access the Play Store. Literally the most bloat-free experience after uninstalling the Chinese bloat that isn't needed.
Dev eu rom. Since the first release. Happy with it. No problem at all.
Cn device with global Rom, I like MIUI battery management last all day with heavy use.
Xiaomi.eu weekly with Nova prime on top.
I really like it and notifications work fine it is just a little bit annoying that you have to set app specific settings for them to work properly though.
Guys what's the notification issue you're talking about?
Im on global miui too but i dont know exactly what it is?

Which messaging app are you using? For me, I could never get notifications to work properly with Google Messages, and with the native Messages app, group messaging didn't work, nor does it have a desktop interface. This may have improved with the more recent releases, but Pixel Experience was so good I have no need to bother trying MIUI again (the other big thing it was missing is the smart unlock functionality).
The only thing I'll regret in stock android is the full screen gesture. I love it in miui

Best rom for audio quality and battery backup???

Hello guys,
In the not too distant past, I would like to try out new ROMS so I can choose which one to keep using.
But now I have no time to do that, and would like to ask you, which rom has good audio quality for bluetooth air dots? Battery is also important, and I don't care about the performance cuz I dont play games on my phone (just cs:go on pc).
I was using pixel experience, but battery backup was terrible. Changed to masik, battery is Ok, but audio even with tweaks its not good as on pixel experience. Now, im using Xiaomi.eu, battery is ok but audio is very poor and low...
Just install viper4android 2.7 from magisk.sound will become 3x louder and cleaner.

How are you finding battery life/stability on this rom/kernel combo?
I'm running xiaomi.eu weekly rom which I find good. Haven't flashed any other custom roms on my RN5P, as too lazy to set everything up again. Are you using it rooted, do you experience any issues with banking apps or the like? Sorry for all the questions, just curious to hear how you find things compared to miui.

There are a fair few devs working on the device. There are device trees so any custom ROM can be built and MIUI customised ROMs are also being released. On top of this there are two superb devs currently working on dynamic a/b partitions to make TWRP stable. This is difficult as there is a lot of guesswork involved as the phone was released with Android 11 and so the partition setup is quite unknown

Battery life is great, I can use the phone actively without noticing the battery depleting. System resources minimal if as long you don't use bloated apps. I have magisk installed with things like energized protection, viper4android and more working fine. Even apps like bluemail work on this ROM while on others I had no luck.

Question question regarding banking apps in Egypt and Rom stability

Hello,
i have ordered an F3 phone and it's currently been shipped to my location, i don't plan on using the default MUI stock rom as i don't like the idea of bloatware
so my question is what is the current most stable lightweight Rom for that phone that have no issues with banking app speically the once in Egypt like CIB-bank or AL-Ahly-bank
sorry if my question is a bit naive and thanks in advance for your replays

Your choice is between a debloated variant of MIUI (like Xiaomi.eu ROM) or AOSP (original Android UI Design).
I personally prefer AOSP because its clean and smooth, however I'm on Xiaomi.eu because MIUI Dolby Atmos and MIUI Camera App are only on MIUI.
In terms of Banking Support. You just have to make sure you are passing Google SafetyNet.
That's the most likely reason why a Banking app might not work for you, in the case your OS is failing SafetyNet-Check.

Firstly, thanks a lot for your reply and the information you provided.
Secondly, aren't there any alternatives in the AOSP Rom for these 2 apps especially the Dolby one since I'm more interested in the quality of sound rather than the camera?

As a good camera alternative there are Google Camera Ports ("Gcam") which support many devices. There are many devs/porters of Gcam with varying feature-set and bugginess. They can be ok/good, but don't have all features that the MIUI Camera has, but it comes close. Can also crash sometimes. Some people like Gcam over MIUI Cam, but for me it's a definite opposite. MIUI Cam photos clearly show more details for me.
Best website for Gcam Ports:
Google Camera Ports Download
Modified Google Camera ports by BSG, Arnova8G2, ivanich, and others. Download hub for GCam ports.

As for Dolby Atmos. There are Dolby Atmos Magisk Modules but they sound like utter rubbish, unfortunately. Those are ports of Razer's DA and Motorola's DA, however they simply make audio sound virtualised (like inside a tin can), instead of expanded and richer.
So they are nothing compared to MIUI Dolby Atmos.
You can find Equalizer apps on the Play Store as an alternative, but well, those are not Dolby Atmos. ^^
If sound's (and cam) is important to you, get Xiaomi.eu ROM. Also set Dolby Atmos to Video Mode. ^^
That's my take
Edit:
However, should also note that Xiaomi.eu isn't simple. It has many Xiaomi system apps. It does not have ads or third party apps pre-installed, but I should mention. ^^ Since you were looking at something minimalistic. And MIUI isn't that.

A great amount of information I have to say, well it's not like I'm totally minimalistic person but I hate bloatware, ads, and the feeling that my data is been used by the company that I bought my phone from, however, this answer helped me on getting a better picture on what are the pros and cons of using the original Rom debloated vs AOSP Rom still thinking which way to go tho since the phone will arrive in 4 days till then I will keep looking for more information.
in the end thanks a lot for the time and information and time you provided me.
