Toshiba Thrive APK Pack 4.0.4 (Updated for 2022) - Thrive Themes and Apps

When you're on the last official update, Android 4.0.4, with the nvidia tegra 2 processor, installing the correct version of google play services will save up to 50MB of ram immediately, but if you want as much space as possible, disable as many stock apps as you can. I found stellar results updating google play store and disabling all of the stock apps except for settings, calculator, camera, and gallery. So far, I have installed the apks below. To clean junk I use ccleaner, classicboy, lite for gaming, firefox which maintains updated certificates, kodi (turn both video accelerators OFF), mame4droid (0.139u1) (turn video to 59fps), there's 2 usb ports with hdmi out. I completed the entire game of sfii on a 50-inch flat screen using mame4droid (0.37b5) and I couldn't notice any lag playing street fighter ii. I wouldn't be surprised if you could create a durable 2-player mame / hd media player on the go. Currently, the mega app includes 20GB of free cloud storage with optional encrypted chat built in (no video or voice), opera browser (great to download on apkmirror and yt), and smart task killer (to evaluate the ram status from the task bar). Other than total commander file manager and 7Zipper, make sure not to update any of these apps as they are at their latest truly compatible version. Adjust the firewall correctly and you can have all of it and still stay around 40% free ram while at idle.

After all the testing was complete, I think my personal preference will be classicboy, kodi, there are 2 different mame apks (0.139u1) is somewhat chopping but has 4x the rom list including games such as ssfii (turn video to 59fps and it helped allot with mk1) but (0.37b5) (which supports an older rom list, plays ssfii, & mk1 with no issues), firewall, mega, play store, settings, total commander, bt controller with droid 2 global, I will try to exclude google play services altogether for my set up. As for as the firewall, I will only allow kodi, classicboy (to dl snes plugin), and mega in. The google play store is required for classicboy to run, I didn't log into google at all on the fresh install or even open the google play store app whatsoever. All I did was update the google play store apk and blocked it from the internet so classicboy would run. Anyways, I hope this helps!

Hi! Thanks for your work @thriven' . Last month i get this tablet and, oh boy. The compatibility this days is a thing for ol' Android 4.x.x
This list is a savior. I'm on Jelly bean thanks to @pio_masaki but there's several apps that claims to be 4.1.x compatible...and it's just not.
I want to add a couple of apks that works for me, but don't know if they work on 4.0.4, so if you can, give it a try! I'm assuming that if it works for me...
Opera Mini (old version): Last update was on 2019. New opera mini above the version that thriven got here doesn't work. Opens, and with some pages it's just closes by it self. The old version is more stable. Slow, but stable, and a bit "updated". Anyway, the version that thriven post is the most stable (and fast) so far.

BiglyBT: This app claims to be 4.0.x compatible. It's a Bittorrent client. Works very well! I need a BT client for...something. So this one works.

Eboox: ereader. Works very well too. A bit buggy, but gets the job done. The last version on google play works. Last version for 4.0.x is 2.42, nov. 2020. So, why do i need a bt client and a ereader? Well...
Android 4.1.+: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/readi...x-reader-for-fb2-epub-zip-books-2-57-release/
Android 4.0.+ (ver 2.42): https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/readi...fb2-epub-zip-books-2-42-android-apk-download/
IPTV: If you got a iptv list (or a list with "free" channels), you can watch it here. This app has a internal player and works really good! (in sw mode. You can change it while you watch a channel, but is better to change the option on settings). Channels up to 480p no issue. 720p tries to show but you get a static screen and sound only.
This version works for 4.0.x and 4.1.x - versions that drops support for 4.0.x doesn't work for me.

That's it! Again, thanks for your work and its amazing see people giving support for so old but useful devices. See ya! Greetings from Chile

Thanks for both of these posts! I found this after Tune In stopped working for me a few months ago. Spotify still works, although I got an e-mail saying I have an active registration on an older device and the service will stop in mid January 2023.
Radio Box app works (through play store), although most stations show a stream error. Luckily my favorite station, WXPN, still works!

Orb works fine on my device. But cingular video stopped working. At first it did but didn't have realplayer installed. Then i installed realplayer and tried again and now i'm getting the billing issue.
I haven't run into any apps that don't work on WM6 other than SMSbackupEN (not the one pre-installed on xda live). when i try to install it i get an error stating that its not for this version.
Also i cant restore a database in ProStudent which pisses me off because i'm too lazy to input all my classes and previous grades.
SPB Mobile Shell which froze my device constantly on AKU3.3 runs flawlessly on WM6 XdaLive.
no problemo
My installed softwares work fine on all versions (tmob; 1.35;2.05 HTC; 2.06 cing...):

Resco Explorer 2005
SK Tools ver 5.0
Phone Alarm 1.58
Working great.
Palm Threaded SMS works flawlessly (please no PM's looking for it)
Slngbox does not. Pocket Quicken will not install on my devic, says incompatible version (although I am going to try and modify the cab when I have time)
I heard Cyberon VoiceCommander V2 Cab works out of the box the WM6, but I can not find the english CAB anywhere to try. Anyone upload it or PM me.

It looks like an audio codec is missing in Wm6 for Slingbox. I am looking through the AKU 3.3 Cingy for which is missing.
GOOD NEWS: CV is working though.
EDIT: No more CV. Not a WM6 issue though, Cingular screwing us again. A reg edit may fix this. Searching.....
Here's some issues I've found
SPB backup: makes back up with errors. Haven't tried to restore yet.
scheduled back up does not work
Ringo mobile: installs and can pick ringtone, but doesn't work as ringer
Phone alarm (latest Beta): seems to be doing fine, no problems.
SK Tools: works fine, no issues yet. Ran the AutoClean and Optimizer.
PIEplus: no real issues, just mentioning that it works well
WiseBar Advance (latest beta): Skining working fine. I haven't had any real issues
Resco Explorer: Reg Edit; Explorer; today plug in all see to be doing fine.
Just posting mainly to see if others have these issues. I doubt its the ROM per se, more the programs aren't ready for VM6.
Thanks again
TCPMP and coreplayer aren't working for me on XDA Live .20. While on the main screen for both players, the screen began to flicker and needless to say controlling the video was almost impossible. Any insights?

Working Hulu with adobe flash 11.1 [12/26/11]

I only take credit for finding these files and making some sence out of it.
First you have to uninstall the current version of Flash , I like to use Titanium Backup to wipe cache and uninstall, but you can do this from Setting Applicaton.
****Updated 7-16-12***
Watching Amazon Instant Videos and Hulu on your SII with the ICS update. Simple... You'll have to use Dolphin Browser and the updated ICS Adobe Flash. See the downloads below. I've never had and luck with Amazon Instant Video player or getting in registred on ICS, but with my Prime memberhip, Dolphin Brower, and updated Flash for ICS, I can stream my Prime Videos.
***This is not a Hulu plus subscription or a hack for it, all this does is trick the web site into thinking you are on something else other then a Andriod device.***
You have to be rooted…
So get rid of Adobe Flash by clearing data and uninstalling.
Once Adobe flash has be uninstalled reboot.
Now Install the new Adobe flash 10.3,
Once installed, reboot
Now install the Hulu APK and or Dolphin Browser
After you launch the program you'll see the black square just click on it and it take some time to load
After the ads your video should start.
*** Added Huluifed Adobe flash 10.3 and 11.1 you can try either one. I tested both and they worked for me***
A good combo is 10.3 and Dolphin browser with the following setting, this way you can have all the options that the website has.
However I'm running the Huluified 11.1 and the Hulu.apk, and it's working great.
Adobe flash 11.1 and dolphin browser works you have to allow for pop us and manually click on the ad so that you can get through them. Then the video will start, if you find a better work around let me know, plus it was hit or miss.
My Dolphin Brower Setting
1) Set flash to always on.
2) Set User agent to Desktop
3) Keep Screen On
4) Enable plug-in always on
5) Load Images
Adobe Flash Hulified10.3
Adobe Flash Hulified11.1

AG, did you try it yet, and did it work for you up here in Canada?
not yet, too busy, i use a USA proxy it always worked on the PC both linux and win
not sure we'll get good performance on the phone, unless you are on WiFi
Nevermind, this is just a wrapper for the website.

Why do you need the Hulu app? Can't you just watch it from the website using the hacked version of flash? Besides, don't you need a paid account to use the Hulu app?
Hulu is free, go to the http://www.hulu.com/ website for details
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hulu.plus
Yes, but doesn't hulu from any mobile device(read phone out tablet) require a hulu plus subscription?
I thought the whole hacked flash thing was so hulu thought you were accessing their site from a desktop.

I have been running Hulu Plus on my setup since day one. The secret is to use backup files from a working phone and those files are in the Titanium Backup folder on your SD card. Then it works like a charm. I have BOTH Netflix Paid member and Hulu+ running nicely. Wifi it's awsome. Or you will really need to be an a decent 4G minimum 2 bar area not to run into issues, such as buffering, freezes, etc. Also, on some ROMs they throw in the ad free app. Ad Free can cause issues. I believe if you set it up to revert back to stock, it won't be an issue. This particular I just looked and on my setup the Ad Free app from BigTinCan.com is set up with a check box to use 127.0.0.1. Now Hulu+ will not be interfered with. I uploaded my original files from July to Hotfiles.com download mirror.
http://hotfile.com/dl/138466459/0630641/Hulu_Plus_Tit_Backup_Files.zip.html
Unzip and then place THREE files here in your Titanium backup folder that should be on your SD card. Then simply restore Hulu + and you should be all set.
ENJOY!!
EDIT!!!!!!!!
YES!!!!I am a paid registered member for each site. You will be able to basically get to the home screen and it will ask you to log on, so unless you have a paid membership, don't waste your time. I like it a lot, since it remembers where I was watching at home and on the road if stuck ina dr. office etc, I can log back on and just resume from where I left off. This method does NOT enable users to hack on to Hulu+ and pirate use anything. It just basically fakes you phone into thinking the device is supported. Eventually, they do catch up. I had to use this method on my Sensation before the SGS2. Eventually support did come to the Sensation I believe wrt Netflix. Not sure if Hulu+ is supported yet.

I tried it but I couldn't seem to get it to work on stock browser with the "desktop view" option check on, in setting.
Well just got curious looked in the hulu+ app supported phones list an now they support three Samsung phones, the nexus s, galaxy nexus, and the sgs 2.
They released the update the 23 June. Now I don't know if anyone knows this in the forums but I'm glad to upgrade from hulu+ 1.0.116 that I got from my wife's sensation over a year 1/2 ago for my vibrant.
Cheers all
Edit: well the new interface kinda sucks took me 20 min to find access to my favorites, but I got there, this new version kinda looks like Netflix with the recommendations right there in your face.

Good to know i helped. I'm trying to make it into a thread where people can come and get exactly what they're looking for to make their phones more enjoyable.
UPDATE:
Added some Galaxy S4 Add-ons (Wallpaper, S-Voice)
Note 2 Keyboard
APPS:
Pimp My Rom, Zedge, StreamComplete.
I reset my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T700 v6.0.1 and am having trouble getting my backed up data to be recognized in Kii. The folder is visible in my file manager, but not when I attempt to restore from within the app.
This has never been a problem when I've moved to a new device.
Can you offer a suggestion?

What apps and why?

My phone is pretty barren as far as installed apps go. A lot of what I install is utility because apps can't be trusted, nor can the manufacturers. Because I don't use Google apps, I have to find alternatives for any functionality prevented by this choice; namely backups. In any case, lemme introduce my question by providing example.
My launcher choice has changed because Lightning no longer did it for me on android 10. I bought Nova a long time ago and went with it for a while on this edge, but, am currently using lawnchair and I'll stick with it. It's got what I need, specifically the ability to put my 'app drawer' into tabs or folders and to hide apps. So I have 3 folders: fun, office, and utility. Also, the blur background is pretty kickass.

In Fun: I put the camera in there, gallery, stuff like that. I have installed 2 games: simple solitaire collection - I play klondike in the mornings, when I'm, you know - TMI - loosing a pound. I also installed smash hit - so I can smash glass when I have a minute. If I think of it... I installed elementary because I'm a nerd for the periodic table of elements. Also in the fun folder is Infinity for browsing reddit, but, I rarely do, because, well, fuk'n reddit. I installed musicolet to play the tunes. It put a play button in with the tiles and I dig it.
In the Office tab I put messaging, FX, which is the file manager I have been using since, well, ever. I use acalendar+ and it's in the office folder, too. I use calendar import/export to get any backup ics file back into the system. I use Aegis for that two-factor auth we need. It's fine. For browsing from my phone, if I do it - I use firefox focus because bromite kept losing my bookmarks. Pffft. I use keepass2android because I sometimes need passwords and I have been using keepassxc since ever. You should, too. I use Nextcloud so I can take a pic in the field and it's on my box at home. Nextcloud is pretty awesome - I put my keepass passwords file into the shared nextcloud folder so I can have passwords wherever, too. I have sms backup and restore to maintain the call log and restore it when I flip roms, or start from scratch. Geometric weather is installed too, for the weather. It's opensource and has that pretty, so, I dig it. I use silence for texting and it's in the office folder, too.
In the Utility folder: 3C all in one, for backups which I rarely use and to tweak the cache on the sdcard. Other stuff as necessary or out of curiosity. Of course, adaway is installed for those ads (I also have pi-hole on my lan). I use App Manager to block trackers and whatnot, it's a cool app. I installed Aurora store, f-droid, and sometimes aptiode. No gapps on my phone. Since I build, I use fraction calculator plus on ocassion. I installed quicktiles because it's kickass, and I still use SDmaid because it's kickass, too. FOr reasons. Of course, magisk, and busybox pro.
As I wrote, I don't install a lot of apps. It's not that I don't want to, I just don't really look around for apps to install for whatever function/purpose. I sometimes have other apps installed: mupdf, newpipe, notebook (zoho), simple notes, protonmail, vlc, voice recorder, a whip (hilarious), I usually install and use AFWall+, sometimes I use davx5, and maybe an estimate generator. If I'm on stock, I definately install edxposed for gravitybox.
What sort of apps do you have installed and why?

I basically use the almost near stock Android that Motorola uses so about 95% of my apps come from the Google Play store. I do have f Droid and I can basically download any APK files or apps you have to give Chrome and Google files permission to download from unknown sources. Which really hasn't been an issue yet because everything that gets downloaded onto my Motorola automatically gets sent and scanned by Google Play protect. I do have one app that I paid for that's awesome but that's downloaded onto a different Android device it allows me to mess around with my phone and it does some really unique things that usually requires a PC multiple USB drivers and downloads it's called bugjaeger premium

Verizon Ellipsis 8 APK Pak 5.1.1 & RetroArch Fix (Updated for 2022)

The Verizon Ellipsis 8 was pushed into Android 5.1.1 with only 1GB of ram. And though there are rumors that this device can be rooted, the default OS allows all but 2 apks to be disabled from the home menu so I chose not to explore rooting. Once the apks including google play and google play services were disabled, I was able to painfully, due to graphic issues, play a game of Cannon Spike on RetroArk at near full speed. The device is compatible with all versions of RetroAarch as of now (which is at 1.10.0_GIT). The problem is, RetroArch has a slight bug when it comes to a very low number of devices. Devices such as the Verizon Ellipsis 8 have a navigation bar at the bottom and the status bar at the top that automatically hides in Android 5.1.1. This seemingly un-adjustable autohide feature prevents apks such as the RetroArch menu screens from reregistering touches correctly.
There is a work around (it requires 2 hands) to navigate the menus in RetroArch on a Verizon Ellipsis 8 (after the game is launched, the apk works as normal).
1. Launch RetroArch
2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to activate the temporary navigation bar (remember it autohides).
3. As the navigation bar is deployed at the bottom, touch and hold the bottom right or bottom left of the screen (don't worry if the bar eventually disappears).
4. Continue to touch and hold the corner of the screen the entire time (I use my thumb as I hold the device itself).
5. Now you can navigate the RetroArch menu with your other hand.
Below are the apks that are running on a stock build of Android 5.1.1 with 1GB of ram that can at least boot Dreamcast games. Using a practically bare system, I was able to play, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, Expendable, Power Stone, Shenmue, Sonic Adventure 2, and Tony Hawk Pro Skater all with near flawless graphics and speed (turn sound down). Hope this helps!
