Question [Poco F3][MIU13] Why no custom ROMs are using the latest firmware from MIUI ? - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

Hi, I've seen most ROMs recommend firmware from MIUI 12.5.x and not the latest is there any reason for that ? Does the latest firmware could break something ? Or lead to weird bugs/new bugs ?

A11 miui based roms have hit their end of life for the most part (12.5.19) almost all the bugs have been worked out and is very stable. Imo, as well as many others, the A12 based miui roms are sometimes if not always missing import features such as face unlock (at the time of writing this). The A12 based roms, imo, are not the most stable roms for the poco f3 atm (I've tried both, and ended up sticking to 12.5.19 xiaomi EU stable)

Additionally, if you look at the Firmware Updater thread the Global firmware is still 12.5.x.

Oh interesting so we're kind of a lab test for the new firmware in EEA, I thought China would have been the test case first and then they would deploy it to others ROMs (Indian, EEA, Global, etc.) once it is stable enough

They did; China got MIUI 13 before EEA.

Latest MIUI version? - is Xiaomi.EU good?

Well, i recently bought this phone, already applied to unlock bootloader but i have to wait a week, so in the meantime i'm learning about roms based on xiaomi and custom roms...
My main concern is, i'm running MIUI Global 11.0.3 | Stable | 11.0.3(PCOIDXM) with security patch from 2020-01-01. I saw other guys with newers MIUI versions than mine, so i found about Xiaomi.EU, i read it is the best MIUI rom but i would like to get some recommendations...
Also, my main objective is to get an stable rom with good battery usage, having root and maybe install xposed with magisk but this last is not that important.
I 'm also confused about if when i charge Xiaomi EU to my phone will it keep receiving OTA? or what should i do in case i want to go back and be able to receive OTA?
Las question is, i found this site https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/20-3-19.54975/ and the last version is xiaomi.eu_multi_HMNote8_20.3.19_v11-9.zip, is it compatible with all variants of Xiaomi RN8?, i found that there are 2 RN8 versions, a Global Version and an Indonesian version, comparing MIUI version i think i have and indonesian version, does the variant is important in case i want to use xiaomi eu?
Ohh, i see a did a lot of question but i post this in the hope that you guys can help this newbie to tweak his RN8

Actually RN8 has not 2 but 4 versions; Global, Chinese, Indonesian and Indian.
You can use it on any RN8 unlocked version no matter regions, it's set to global.
Since years I'm using Xiaomi.eu ROMs and over other MIUI based ROMs it's way better, great battery performance.
This ROM ever has the latest security patch updates cause is built over the Chinese version.
And regarding OTA updates; Xiaomi.eu ROMs have weekly updates.
What about the Dialer and Messaging apps? Is it the stock MIUI one or the Google ones?

honestly it doesn't have the latest security patch versions....they use old ones and advertise newest....latest beta version for example use security patches from September and they change it in build.prop so that in phone settings it says latest march/april whatever security patch...following are the two lines :
Code:
ro.build.version.security_patch=
ro.build.version.security_patch_real=

I didn't mind that they do that, I would expect from other non reliable site to do such bad practice, many people trust in their. I didn't check from the other ROMs that are based on their too, eg., Mi Globe, etc. Let me ask you how do you know or you have some source regarding to share with us?

I know because I'm using EU beta myself..so my source which is me..is never wrong..I don't trust other websites etc too...other miui roms like miui mix, minovo,mi room etc are all built on EU so they have the same thing..old security patch..advertised as new one.

Apart from the weekly securtiy patches, is it any better than the indian rom (11.0.3) for the note 8?
Secondly, is the Indian version really behind in software updates from the global version (in terms of changes and security patches) or is it just the numbering of the versions different?

Well like I mentioned in my previous replies, you won't get any weekly patches or monthly patches for that matter...EU uses september security patch and changes build.prop so that it appears latest in phone settings...among other things it is better than stock rom (indian, global, etc etc) as it's debloated, optimized, deodexed and tweaked a lil bit..also it has all features included in china roms every week so that is cool...it also has all ads removed...although I debloat more..sure you can debloat and do everything else on your indian rom too but you have to wait for stable builds for long and you gotta repeat the debloating all over again everytime you update...
regarding difference between indian and global...mainly it is the miui apps on indian rom and google apps on global..also a bit of themes and stuff on indian and wifi calling on global...rest it's all same....don't go on the numbering of versions too much...it's all the same with a bit of this and that difference like I said.

Can confirm this ROM is better than the stock. But don't build it with magisk, it bootlooped for me, just flash it after. The beta seems to have new features to, such as when installing apps, you get options to clear cache or delete the APK file if it's sideloaded. You also need orangefox recovery, didn't work with twrp when I tried.

They dropped so early, the bricks issues were solved without almost any risk following the proper steps and all the anti-brick files are there. I didn't find nothing based on Android 10 but only in Pie, this is the recovery to use for https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-5OlIttlKKI82_AD3q6WFaI0J34pfbDe/view and this is the ROM https://mega.nz/file/9BIiQQzL#YKRjCr5tQCb6LcKluKpVl2BsQaZ2e6jD2W-IoN-afhE
I don't know if some of them is the same version but through this tool https://www.xiaomitool.com/V2/ you'll found the Xiaomi.eu v11.0.2.0 stable and the Xiaomi.eu developer 9.11.21
I'm currently using the Indonesian v12.0.2.0, rooted, debloated unnecessary apps and is smooth so far, I used Xiaomi.eu by years but I don't miss it at all.

A guy here is claiming to have a Miui Pro ROM based on Android 10 https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/xiaomi-eu-hmnote8pro-mtk-begonia-support.53542/post-522711 and asking to Google this is the result https://forum.miuipro.info/viewtopic.php?t=4432&start=200 I didn't checked my self so is a downgrade (not interested).
As per flashing a firmware for other variant you can flash the global (also the EEA included), the Indonesian too, I don't recommend the China version BUT as far as I know the indian version came without NFC capabilities to hardware level and i found someone more that say the same https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8-pro/how-to/guide-redmi-note-8-pro-megathread-t4056527

Question Xiaomi.eu for poco f3

Has anyone tried xiaomi.eu for poco f3? If yes, please share the installation steps and your experience with the rom.
Is you bootloader unlocked?
Only Fastboot method for now, check out the Xiaomi.EU forums: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...all-xiaomi-eu-rom-for-xiaomi-redmi-k40.60379/
As the original thread on the xiaomi.eu is for the K40, even if I understand it is the same as POCO F3 which is K40's international version, did people succesfully test the fastboot flashing of that ROM specifically on the POCO F3?

If anyone is using xiaomi.eu on poco f3 right now, please tell me if the option "tap to display AOD for 10 seconds" is available in AOD settings or not. Im asking because it is available on the default global rom and I really like it this way.
What are the differences between roms so far? Can anybody list them?
Why everybody complain about gestures? I can use gestures on my poco f3 with nova luncher with no problems. Global stock firmware
Gestures - swiping on the home screen to open some app or other things right?
My uderstaning is Xiaomi.EU is based on the latest China rom. It's essentially the Redmi K40's rom 12.0.8.0 date 2021-04-09 with performance/battery tweaks, Chinese apps/bloat removed, ads removed, languages added and don't quote me on this (EU/Global vendor).
Then there's the official European (EEA) rom which just received update 12.0.4.0 date 2021-04-19 that fixes screen dimming, standby battery drain and haptic feedback motor noise.
And lastly there is the official Global rom which is still on 12.0.2.0 date 20201-03-30 which is meant for the rest the world including North America.
The China rom is developed by Xiaomi developers in China. It's has the most features, the latest features and is the most stable.
The Global and European (EEA) roms are developed by Poco and have the Poco lanucher and Google apps as default.
Eventually bug fixes one region receives will be transferred over and implements to other regional roms.
Downloading 12.0.4.0 fails for me. Was anybody able to do the update?
Can someone check if the xiaomi.eu has the sensors off feature in the developer settings?
I posted on the Xiaomi.EU forum asking about the current issues and bugs Poco F3 users are facing.
Hopefully someone, who has a Redmi K40/Poco F3 running the Xiaomi.EU stable firmware replies to my post.

I flashed weekly 2 days ago and haven't encountered any bugs, imo it feels better than global stable
I'm also thinking about to flash xiaomi.eu rom. Battery life is very poor for me on global stable... Also it is not running as smooth as i thought. Sometimes a bit laggy.
@ zeb_vv
Seems like no one wants to flash Xiaomi.EU stable for Poco F3 even on the Xiaomi.EU forum.
Weekly has more features and is on MIUI 12.5, but it's less stable and has more bugs.
Good to hear you've not encountered any problems.

MiuiMix is a slightly modified version of the current firmware from xiaomi.eu
FAQ about MiuiMix
TWRP (by Nebrassy) and Magisk (current is 23 canary version) are pre-added to the MiuiMix firmware, which makes it very convenient and easy to install and use.

Relax dude, they are not some new developers. If you think pre-built stuff can be modified, then don't even install any custom roms. Atleast somebody would have found virus in MMX until now if there is any. There are many other roms based on xiaomi.eu and people still install them.

I know they are not new. Still, everything is closed and poor infos on them. So better warn new comers about that.
The game is not worth it as we say.
Just one or two guys here are advertising for MMix, where you have to go and find infos.
And it's not because some (few) people install those roms that it's ok, that's the unsecure thing to think.
Anyway do as you wish.

If you are so afraid for security, then you cannot use firmware based on MIUI at all. Any official MIUI firmware from Xiaomi contains a bunch of adware, spyware for marketing purposes, a lot of useless software, and so on.
MiGlobe was best. I was using it in my last 3 devices but they abandoned the project last year. No info why. But it was more customized eu rom. So now i have to move to eu rom.
Miuipro was also great but they changed it to paid rom .

Hello,
I am now using Xiaomi.eu 12.5.4 is there a guide not on telegram (I don't speak English) that I can follow to install MiuiMix?

Question Install Mi11i/Mi11x ROM on Poco F3 posible?!

So, im tired of Google contacts and calendar...and my Poco F3 came with that pre-installed instead of Xiaomi/MIUI ones.
My question is: can i install via Mi Flashtools the ROM of Mi11i or Mi11x to archieve that?
I have try installing the apk for Miui contacts and dialer but they wont work, wont Open after installing. But the Miui calendar works fine.
Course i love the Miui stock launcher better than POCO launcher too.
Can i do what i say above?! Thanks

I suggest flashing China ROM directly instead... Miui.eu is unstable garbage , feels like a bad custom ROM with all of it's FPS drops and random lag spikes.
I tried China developer build while I was on my downgrade spree and I can say performance was immensely better . Everything else tho not so much ...
Better than EU for sure but I prefer global over it. Google services and everything else...

Unlock your bootloader & flash Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM. It's the best version of MIUI and includes Mi Phone (with Call Rec) & Mi Contacts.
The China ROM doesn't contain Google Services and is generally not optimised for Use outside of that region.

And don't flash the China ROM. It doesn't contain Google Services and is generally not optimised for Use outside of that region.
The user above me is full of ****.

Lmao man you shouldn't be qualified to talk about performance at all. Based on your post from before your use case scenario is so light that you can't even notice lack of performance from 870 chips.
I've talked to users having same issue I've described literally few days ago , on top of that I've tried myself both EU and VN versions and both felt like custom ROMs in terms of severe performance instability. So much so that I'm not using either of those but waiting for features in those ROMs to come to global users.
Have you flashed China ROM ???
Tried it for yourself before calling someone out ? I really doubt that's the case. It feels and performs leagues above miui VN or EU

I've never used China ROM, but Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM is based on China ROM...how can performance be much different ? Android Vanilla is much more smooth for sure, but.. the China ROM ?
You also say Global is better than EU/EEA, but there isn't much difference. The EU ROM just tries to be GDPR comform.
Edit: I've also run Geekbench Benchmark on my Xiaomi.eu ROM and its about what I expect. Other phones with SD 870 have similar results. The clunky feeling comes from MIUI in general...

Nah the geekbank benchmark makes 0 sense when we are talking about random frame drops and stuttering lmao... But anyways it still is worse for you so yeah.....
Those random lags and stutters that you blame miui for are nonexistent on proper miui ROMs - China or global , I moved to get away from the stuttering and **** performance and am happy to report I've seen next to none ever since.
Idk what miui EU Devs are doing but it's essentially custom ROM regardless , they broke something 100% , be it by removing functionality from some crucial miui service or whatever the performance is not there.
EU version is supposed to offer higher performance in all use case scenarios over global by allowing for higher thermal limits when performance mode is activated , yet the experience is much worse with or without performance mode....
China or global only , miui EU is a joke. Based on China but trying to imitate global and ends up being worse than both lmao

I'm talking about Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM, not Stock MIUI for EU region, those are 2 different things.
If you have problems, run 3DMark Firestrike and compare against other SD 870 phones.

I have read it, but it's hard to tell from your messages if were talking about the Custom ROM. Some people mistake Xiaomi.eu for official Xiaomi ROMs for Europe.
Regardless there isn't much difference between Global & EEA. EEA has a toggle for ads directly in the Android Setup while the other doesn't, and some other changes so its GDPR compliant. There are no differences regarding performance.
I agree that China ROMs are the best if you want pure performance on MIUI. People only use xiaomi.eu because it's convenient, but it can never be the same as the official stuffs, after all it's just a frankenstein ROM that was modified directly then released without any actual optimization.

Yeah
Hello people.
If I want to flash stock firmware with "MiFlash" do I have to unlock the device and the bootloader?
I mean, it is stock firmware.
Also, wondering if this applies if I want to flash the Mi 11x firmware?
Currently running Global firmware for Poco F3, MIUI 12.5.4.
I used to have Samsung before and flash all the time, but since they started with the Knox tripping thing I stopped and now I'm a little rusted.
I changed to Xiami and couldn't be happier.
Thanks for your support

For Official ROMs, unlocking bootloader is not necessary. Why do you want to flash the ROM of a different phone? Not recommended doing that...

Well, the bottom line will be just to test and see the difference between MIUI and Poco MIUI.
And it will be only with Mi 11x firmware which is the same phone but "different" brand, no intention of flashing the shark firmware for instance.
I've noticed some difference with my wife's Mi11 and I liked the dialer and she can sort regents in horizontal way.

I think you won't be able to flash a different phones' ROM. Aren't you afraid it would brick your device? The ROM is for a different phone!

Well, that's why I'm asking here.
At the end it is the same rebranded phone.
Must important will know how to unbrick it just in case
Not sure if I'll try at all
Haha
The difference is the model. Poco F3 and Redmi K40 are the alioth model, while Mi 11X is aliothin. Most custom roms makes the distinction between models at flashing, who isn't the case for stock. There's the slight chance to brick the phone while flashing the China version, plus the baseband aren't the same.
If you like to test pure MIUI instead of Poco MIUI, why not instead extract the desired APKs in Mi 11X ROM and replace them in your Poco F3?
